Lilah Flipped Da Beat Yah - The Inspiring Story of Roselilah She is the first Dutch woman to win a Grammy Award in the rap category, for her work on Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Family Ties’. Just a year earlier the 21 Savage album she worked on, was also nominated at the Grammy’s. She worked on several multi-platinum records by the biggest international and national stars. In this talk we discuss the inspiring and uplifting story of producer Roshwita ‘Roselilah’ Bacha from Utrecht, The Netherlands, who at 26 has built a career as a mega succesful international producer and whose sample packs with her unique instrumental and drum sounds are in high demand. She discusses her strong determination and the risks she took, that helped her launch from producing at her parents' home to the biggest stage in the music industry. How she connects with the artists she works with, her perfectionism and quality control as producer, and how she and her team continue to build her career on a global scale.

Masterclass on the Jamaican foundation of electronic music. By crucial pioneer Cleveland ‘Clevie’ Browne, from the legendary duo Steely & Clevie, who introduced the drum machine into reggae music and played a crucial role in the transition from analogue to digital ‘riddims’ in Jamaican music, working with everyone from Bob Marley to Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, from Shabba Ranks to Elephant Man, and from Sean Paul to Mr. Vegas, and with his riddims laying the foundation for music genres and influences that are still elemental to electronic music today, like dancehall (with the 1987 ‘Punnany’ riddim) and the now world dominating sound of reggaeton (with the 1989 ‘Fishmarket’ riddim). A unique master class on the foundation and evolution of electronic music production by the godfather of riddim himself.

It is a bold move and a huge sign of mutual trust, when a manager and artist decide to move to another country together, to further their careers. In 2017 artist manager, publisher, A&R and CTM creative director Thomas Deelder and producer, songwriter and artist Vincent ‘Avedon’ van den Ende did exactly that, relocating from their native The Netherlands to Los Angeles to expand their network, and explore new and exciting opportunities in the music industry. Five years later they have settled as a force to be reckoned with, in the international music scene. Thomas Deelder managed the careers of artists Afrojack, Far East Movement, Scott Storch and Avedon among others and established an exciting and ever-growing publishing portfolio with artists across the globe. Avedon established himself as in-demand producer, partnering up with legendary hip-hop producer Scott Storch and running his own studio in LA, working on projects with stars like Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Ariana Grande, Roddy Rich, Trippie Redd, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, 6ix9ine, Chloe x Halle, Russ and others. Last year they also successfully launched Avedon’s own recording career as an artist. At ADE Beats they will share the unique manager and artist journey they have embarked upon five years ago. London nightlife architect Jojo Sonubi and his brother David are the driving force between the massively popular London club event RECESS - commonly dubbed ‘the party of the people’ - and equally groundbreaking online radio station No Signal. They started No Signal early 2020 to bring their community together in the face of pandemic isolation, and it became a source of inspiration, information, debate, and entertainment for our culture. With their amazingly curated NS10v10 artist catalogue clashes they riled up the scene, inventing new powerful ways to continue building and exciting communities across the globe. No Signal is a home for powerful sounds, innovations and conversations, coming from across the Black diaspora worldwide. With a strong foothold in the British Black creative community, Sonubi is developing a platform with a much more global reach, and with a firm dedication to building a strong network within the Black diaspora in Europe and sharing knowledge and creating bridges to likeminded initiatives all over the world. Sonubi’s other initiatives include BLKINTHEDAY, a platform and archive documenting Black history and culture in the UK, and NS Academy, a training for young Black people to develop technical skills for careers in broadcasting, audio production and engineering. In this Q&A Sonubi will discuss his current and future steps towards emboldening our scene, culture and community across the borders, strengthening both the powerful Black creative community in the UK and creating fruitful networks within Black diaspora in Europe and also beyond, as well as the inspirational long-term resilience, creativity and community spirit that has been a foundational part of UK’s Black creative history as a whole, from the immense influence of pirate radio, to No Signal’s successful launch.

- Fo Sho – Standing up for Ukrainian hip-hop

In the past three years Fo Sho made a huge impact on the Ukrainian hip-hop scene. Since starting their hip-hop trio in 2019, members and sisters Betty, Miriam and Siona Endale performed at Ukraine’s largest music festival, Atlas Weekend, and music festivals abroad, reached the semi-finals of Ukraine’s Eurovision auditions, and have been buzzing both off- and online with their energetic, harmonious, and hard-hitting rap songs and performances. At ADE Beats, the three Ethiopian-Ukrainian hip-hop stars, together with their manager Inna Gissa, will share their story and perspective as ground breaking artists that have strongly been pushing the hip-hop scene forwards in Ukraine over the past years and building towards national stardom in Ukraine, establishing the beginnings of a global career. And they will discuss in-depth the huge impact the immense tragedy of the war has had on their life and work, and how the worldwide hip-hop scene and the music industry at large can and should support its members in these hardest of times.

Hip-Hop and tech pioneer, producer and artist Arabian Prince has played a crucial role in the West Coast hip-hop culture and scene since the 1980’s. He made his impact as an influential producer, building a catalogue with a range of successful 12-inch singles, helping to define the early electro rap sound. As West Coast hip-hop culture took over the world, Arabian Prince was one of the most sought after DJ’s in L.A.’s hip-hop scene, and an original member of N.W.A. - producing, touring and working closely with Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and others, before financial reasons made him leave the group to focus on his solo music and creating an exciting career in tech. He is president of LAFTC – the Los Angeles First Tech Challenge robotics competition - and has developed into an inspiring innovator and business founder, advising companies on bridging the gap between technology and youth, and working with his tech partners to proactively promote opportunities within the tech world for a more diverse demographic.
