Former Spinnin’ Records and Warner Music Benelux exec will lead Armada Music’s burgeoning catalog department

Armada Music, the biggest independent dance music label in the world from Armada Music Group, has announced the appointment of Susanne Hazendonk as Head of Catalog today. In her new role, Hazendonk will bolster the label’s catalog department and expand the company’s burgeoning influence in the acquisition market.

With over fifteen years of experience at Spinnin’ Records and Warner Music Benelux, Hazendonk has fueled the meteoric rise of artists across genres. She has worked with the world’s premier dance acts, such as Lucas & Steve, Sam Feldt, Afrojack and KSHMR, and chart-topping artists like Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Based in the Netherlands, Hazendonk will report directly to Armada Music’s COO, Jop Bonnike.
“With an unwavering passion and infectious enthusiasm for dance music, Susanne's exceptional talent makes her an ideal addition to the Armada Music team,” said Jop Bonnike. “As we continue to prioritize the growth and evolution of our catalog department, we’re looking forward to working alongside Susanne to seize new opportunities in the market.”
Hazendonk’s work will include managing and overseeing catalog-related initiatives for Armada Music’s catalog as well as catalogs acquired through BEAT Music Fund, the first-ever dance investment fund. She will also lead marketing campaigns and leverage compelling storytelling — for new album launches, classic dance track revivals and more — to maximize the impact and value of the company’s catalogs in the market.
"Dance music runs through my veins, and I‘m thrilled to join a company that places such a strong emphasis on preserving creativity and empowering artists in the space," Hazendonk said. “I’m eager to contribute to Armada Music’s incredible work — especially when it comes to breathing new life into beloved catalogs — and propel the company’s growth even further.”
Hazendonk’s addition will further fuel the success of Armada Music’s exclusive long-term partnerships with artists such as ARTY, Lilly Palmer and Will Clarke, as well as BEAT’s notable roster of acquired catalogs, including Jax Jones, Amba Shepherd, King Street Sounds, Chocolate Puma and more.

Armada Music Group’s acquisition arm continues upward momentum with latest move including a deal with singer-songwriter AMBA SHEPHERD and new releases with Sola Records

BEAT Music Fund, the dance music investment company from Armada Music Group, today announced it has acquired artist shares and songwriter royalties from Grammy®-nominated artist Jax Jones and artist shares on popular tracks from Australian singer-songwriter, AMBA SHEPHERD. BEAT is also unveiling new developments off the back of its 2023 acquisition of Sola Records' back catalog.

Acquisition specifics include:

Jax Jones – Artist shares and songwriter royalties across a portion of the London-based DJ and producer’s catalog, including hits such as ‘You Don’t Know Me’ (with RAYE), ‘Where Did You Go’ (feat. MNEK) and ‘Breathe’ (with Ina Wroldsen), which have accumulated over nine billion streams combined and garnered 72 Platinum-certified sales awards worldwide. Jax Jones first achieved commercial success when he co-wrote and co-produced the 2014 hit ‘I Got You’ with Duke Dumont, which debuted at number one on the U.K. charts. Since then, Jax Jones has worked with artists like Charli XCX, Saweetie, Tove Lo, Demi Lovato, Years & Years, and more.

AMBA SHEPHERD – BEAT acquired artist shares on notable dance tracks including collaborations with Hardwell, ‘Apollo’ and ‘United We Are,’ ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit,’ with R3HAB, Porter Robinson’s ‘Vandalism,’ and her joint track with QUIX, ‘Heads or Tails,’ which have amassed nearly one billion streams on Spotify combined.

Sola Records – A joint venture on Sola Records working closely with Solardo on the A&R, label management, distribution and promotion/marketing for label releases. In addition to Solardo, confirmed artists include Maur & FABER, Draxx and Majestic.
“After spending time with Maykel and learning about his journey in music, partnering with BEAT and Armada Music Group was an obvious choice for me,” said Jax Jones. “Both teams share an incredible knowledge of dance music and passion for my work, so I’m confident that my music is in safe hands. With BEAT and Armada as partners, I'm excited to explore new creative avenues and collaborations that will not only expand the scope of my work, but also resonate with my audience. As we embark on this journey together, I am fired up to see where our shared vision takes us!"
“Following Armada’s 20th anniversary last year, it’s incredibly exciting to see such momentum for BEAT and the spotlight on the dance music market right now,” said Maykel Piron, CEO of Armada Music Group. “We are honored to be entrusted with a portion of Jax Jones’ incredible catalog and several of AMBA SHEPHERD’s most notable tracks and look forward to taking their work to exciting new places. The forthcoming releases with Sola Records also fuels BEAT’s growth in the music acquisition market and further empowers our mission to celebrate dance artists and breathe new life into the most beloved labels.”
With the rapidly growing global electronic dance industry projected to reach $20.9 billion by 2033, this deal continues Armada’s upward momentum and further solidifies the company as a significant driving force in contributing to this boom worldwide. These acquisitions join BEAT’s notable roster of catalogs including King Street Sounds’ master recordings and publishing catalog, a large portion of VIVa MUSiC’s catalog, and the master and publishing catalogs of Chocolate Puma. BEAT recently relaunched King Street Sounds, one of the oldest and most respected independent dance music labels in New York City, to weave existing releases into the modern ecosystem to educate and entertain both new ears and existing fans as a way to maintain and build upon some of the most respected catalogs in dance music.
