Following their introduction to the Anjunachill roster last year, Planet of Souls now present their debut album, ‘Lumiere’.

Paul Rogers and Tom Barlow are established club producers in their own right, with remix credits for Sasha, Gorillaz and Coldplay; but their union as Planet Of Souls sees them turn towards orchestral, soundtrack-inspired composition. The duo and their collaborators combine cinematic depth, electronic ambience and nuanced songwriting across 11 tracks.

Australian production duo Planet Of Souls release their debut album ‘Lumiere', a cinematic exploration of light, darkness, and the human experience.

Planet Of Souls is the collaborative project of producers Paul Rogers and Tom Barlow, born from a shared love of analog synths, sound design, and the electronic sound of the ’90s and ’00s. What began as a therapeutic creative outlet evolved into a two-year journey crafting a deeply emotive, cinematic body of work. Blending Paul’s melodic and compositional instinct with Tom’s mastery of sound design, the duo shape music that balances electronic experimentation with human warmth, drawing influence from Jon Hopkins, Massive Attack, RY X, and The Chemical Brothers.

Their debut album ‘Lumiere' is an introspective journey through the contrasts that define life: darkness and light, fragility and strength, isolation and connection. Each track moves through a carefully sculpted world of electronic sound design, cinematic strings, and live instrumentation, creating an immersive, filmic landscape. The album features vocals from vocalists across the globe including Lily Papas, Nicki Wells, Samsaruh and Douglas Dare. You may already recognise their music - the album has already received support from BBC Radio 1, and their track ‘One’ has appeared on hit TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy and Netflix’s The Survivor, alongside other primetime TV productions.

Planet Of Souls on writing 'Lumiere'
"Our creative philosophy is firmly rooted in emotional authenticity. Every song we make comes from the heart, and when we write together, we both bring a lot of what has been going on in our personal lives to the session.

The second element that is extremely important to us is texture and atmosphere. We love the impact that sound design can have on feeling, even if it’s not musical. This comes from our passion for cinema, and you must look no further than the likes of Hans Zimmer and Ludwig Göransson for great examples of using sound design to create tension and emotion in a cinematic setting.

Another critical element for us is finding personal meaning in the music. This is why we absolutely love collaborating with other artists. Each of them brings their own lived experiences to the songs we compose. The lyrics and vocal performance of a singer we have worked with can carry a mystery, a hidden experience that created a memory they want to share, and a pain they need to express.

Connecting with the audience on a personal level is extremely important to us. We have had many people tell us that a certain song we have created hit them in a way we didn’t expect. Each and every one of us has experienced challenges in our life, and we truly hope that our music helps people in some way to think differently about the journey they have been on, and most importantly to keep going. If we can keep doing this, we will feel like we are making a difference, and that’s what counts for us."

Planet Of Souls is the new project from producers Paul Rogers and Tom Barlow, created to merge emotive songwriting with cinematic electronic production. With a shared love of analog synths and ’90s/’00s electronica, their sound draws on influences from Jon Hopkins and Massive Attack to RY X and The Chemical Brothers. Though newly formed, the duo bring decades of experience: Rogers has worked with UNKLE, Sasha, Pete Tong, and Gorillaz, with recent collaborations supported on BBC Radio 1 and SiriusXM, while Barlow’s releases have appeared on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat, earning praise from Carl Cox.

Their single ‘One’ features the ethereal, emotional vocals of Australian singer-songwriter Lily Papas. With a background in major-label releases, festival and TV performances, and collaborations with brands like Dior, Papas continues to carve her space as a distinctive voice in pop music.

The original ‘One’ has already gained support from BBC Radio 1’s Sian Eleri and outlets including NOTION and DMY. Now, Jody Wisternoff transforms the track into a driving, melodic remix. A regular face in the Anjuna label family, Wisternoff is celebrated for his emotive, club-ready productions and has toured internationally, performing at major festivals and sold-out venues across Europe, North America, and Asia.

‘One (Jody Wisternoff Remix)’ is out now on Anjunachill.

[item value="10"]Planet Of Souls & Lily Papas - One (Jody Wisternoff Remix) [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] Jody Wisternoff’s remix of Planet Of Souls’ single “One” featuring Lily Papas is a masterclass in progressive house production that every DJ in the genre should consider adding to their setlists. Clocking in at a perfectly club-friendly 126 BPM, the track strikes a balance between hypnotic groove and emotional depth, making it adaptable for both warm-up and peak-hour moments. From a technical standpoint, the remix opens with chunky, tightly compressed kick drums that establish a solid foundation, accompanied by subtle percussive layers and techy hi-hats that gradually build energy without overcrowding the spectrum. The wobbly basslines are meticulously sidechained to the kick, creating a dynamic low-end pulse that drives the track forward with a fluid motion, a hallmark of Wisternoff’s production style. The melodic content is where this remix truly shines. Cinematic string swells and emotional piano progressions weave around Lily Papas’ ethereal vocals, which are treated with lush reverb and spatial stereo delays to create a floating, almost dreamlike texture in the mid-to-high frequencies. The breakdowns highlight these atmospheric elements, giving the crowd room to breathe before slamming back into the rolling progressive groove. Additional production touches—like filtered sweeps, subtle risers, and ambient FX layers—ensure seamless transitions and maintain a sense of sonic storytelling throughout. For progressive house DJs, this track is a versatile weapon: its dark yet warm emotional tone makes it perfect for creating that deep, immersive journey on the dancefloor. The polished mixdown ensures it will translate beautifully on large sound systems, with bass presence that fills the room without muddying the vocal clarity. Wisternoff’s attention to dynamic range, stereo imaging, and groove tightness elevates this remix from a simple club track to a set-defining moment. In short, “One” (Jody Wisternoff Remix) is an essential addition to any progressive set, combining emotional resonance with dancefloor functionality—an ideal track to awaken the senses and keep the crowd moving. #PureGold Love IT [/content]
