Dimitri: Can you mention your biggest achievements in your music career in 2014  and your personal life if it is something that you wish to share with our readers?

Alex Rusin: If it comes to the biggest achievements in 2014 the first thing which comes to my mind is being featured on Saturate Audio Immersed compilation. I was trying to get a release on this label for more than a year (I sent 4 demos)  and I think I'm lucky to be a part of one of the best labels on 'true' progressive & trance scene. It gives real chance to shine on the 'underground' music scene and it's really rare that label releases physical copies of the recording. I feel that I became a part of the history :) What's more, when I started my career I could only imagine being on compilation with such a big names like Gai Barone, Basil O'Glue etc. 

Also I have second big success - I got over from a huge writer's block, and after being tired of nowadays trance I found my new way in music - progressive/deep house with the early trance influences. I'm really excited about the stuff I'm working on now and can't wait to show it to the public! So, 2014 wasn't that bad, but 2015 is going to be huge.

Dimitri: 2014 was packed with releases from so many different styles, which Electronic Music style you believe is the absolute Electronic Music Style Of 2014 in the mainstream indifferent if you like it or not. Why you believe this style became so successful in 2014?

Alex Rusin: I think 'Radio/pop' Deep House was huge this year. Everybody was tired of all this so-called 'big room/mainstage' stuff, so the natural thing was to slow down and introduce some melodies into music. After all you can't listen tunes with the same bass, kick and structure over and over. I think it's not Deep House, we can't call it just simple Deep House, because the difference between Dusky and Robin Schulz is so enourmous that you can't just put it into one genre. However, I'm so content that music slows down and is more melodic - it's a sign that prog house and prog trance scene can be on top again like 10 years ago!





1) Best Track: 
Alex Rusin:Chaim - Blue Shadow - there were a lot of awesome tunes this year, but the choice was easy for me. This track is something more than just a tune, it gives me goosebumps and helped me to get over from writer's block. Simply awesome!



2) Best Artist (Dj & producer): 
Alex Rusin: Eric Prydz - I love every tune he does and every set he plays. Big inspiration!



3) Best Remix: 
Alex Rusin: GusGus - Crossfade (Maceo Plex Remix)- though choice, because there were many awesome remixes, but this one stuck in my head from the beginning. Simply riff, nice groove and the dark atmosphere!



4) Best Remixer: 
Alex Rusin: Cid Inc. - this guy delivered many remixes this year and I love everyone. He can't do a bad tune! His stuff is my big inspiration.



5) Best New Talent (Dj or producer): 
Alex Rusin: Cid Inc. - maybe he's not really new, but he deserves for something bigger.



6) Best Electronic Music Album: 
Alex Rusin: Kiasmos - Kiasmos - I think it's an instant classic. This is an album I always come back to and it is one of the most beautiful compositions in recent Electronic Music.



7) Best Electronic Music Compilation: 
Alex Rusin: Balance 026 mixed by Hernan Cattaneo - when a legend is working on a legendary compilation it can't be a bad recording. This is pure awesomeness.



8) Best artwork/cover of an Album or Compilation: 
Alex Rusin: Saturate Audio Immersed - I really like the design of this cover, really nice colours and it fits the stuff on the CD.



9) Best Lyrics in an Electronic Music track: 
Alex Rusin: Guy Mantzur & Sahar Z - Small Heart Attack - just hard to say why, but ...



10) Best Vocalist/Singer featured on Electronic Music track: 
Alex Rusin: Amber Long - every track which features her vocal is so dark and atmospheric - not too cheesy, but it creates the right feeling in the tune

Alex Rusin: Anjunadeep - really easy thing - the amount of outstanding releases was really big this year

Alex Rusin: Above & Beyond - Sticky Fingers - hard choice, but I really like how the video tells the story of the whole song

Alex Rusin:  David Guetta on Tommorowland - I was laughing for some time when I saw all the videos with Guetta from Tomorrowland

Alex Rusin:Twitter - I like it more than Facebook because it is not so addicting

Alex Rusin: I got strange message from the woman from the USA earlier this year and was really suprised: "You have the same names as my significant other.its quiet fascinating that you both like music."

Alex Rusin: I'm not into selfies, so can't choose any.

Alex Rusin:Ableton Live 9.1 - Ableton is my DAW from the beginning and I don't want to change it for anything. Very fast workflow and amazing possibilites for editing.

Alex Rusin: Audioriver - really nice festival without crappy commercial music with cheap tickets

19) Best Dj set of the year from other fellow Dj: 
Alex Rusin: Guy J set in January 2014 in Cracow - I knew that Guy J's music is awesome, but after that night I love it more than anytime!

Alex Rusin: Cycles Radio with Max Graham - easy choice, big inspiration for myself, I tune in into every show he does.

Alex Rusin:  I'm not so famous, so I don't think anybody uses my techniques :)

Alex Rusin: using Tape Delay on every sound, it riches the sound and make it sound warmer

28) Best piece of advice you got in relation to your career in 2014:
Alex Rusin:  Don't worry about supports. Do it for yourself.

29) Best hobby or activity that you spent a lot of time in 2014: 
Alex Rusin: Running & calisthenics and of course music.

30) Best holiday destination for 2014 that you manage to visit this year either to relax or to perform in a club or festival: 
Alex Rusin: Odessa, Ukraine - I went there for my holiday and I came back so inspired that I made two new tunes. Amazing place! Greetings to Michael Holbrook(he's from Odessa)!

Alex Rusin:  I don't really know - probably something on wunderground. I like their sarcastic news :)

Dimitri: Finally, 2015 is ahead of us would you like to tell your plans with your future releases, tracks, albums, collaborations, Dj gigs.

Alex Rusin: To be honest I have big plans for 2015. I want to work on my live perfomances and I really want to get my first gig. Also I'm working on a new EP and it needs some final touches, so I think it'll be released in early 2015. Also I'm going to turn my head into remixes again because I miss working on others stuff. However, new deep/prog house tunes and some exclusive sets will be on my way in next 12 months! Hope you like it and you can support my stuff.

Darkpload Records welcomes mr. David Mayne back with his stunning new single 'Palladium'. Very remarkable style of Jeremy does the job once again in this tight production.

To make this single even better, the Slovenian prodigy Naian was asked to do a remix as well and he proves that even though he released not so many track yet his presence in the tracklists of the big playes like Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten or Markus Schulz is without any doubts very well deserved. Proving his class and super skills Naian closes the single with huge dark and dirty remix of 'Palladium'.







Dimitri Kechagias review: Darkpload is the top Polish  record label that caters for the darker moody big room trance sound as this is supported by Markus Schulz and many we identify it as the Coldharbour rec established vibe. The latest release comes from the Polish mastermind David Mayne who does what he knows best and that is to arrange a wonderful driving emotional deep and dark trancer. Bouncy techy groove, pumping reflexive driving basslines, and mysterious strings. His breakdown reveal orchestral strings, opera like vocals, the uplifting euphoric synthy leads while underneath  break beats section is added as well. His climax starts quite subtle and dark but after a shorter breakdown the full on hands in the air section come as well. Its one of those records that balance between the darker and the euphoric. Jeremy Rowlett is well known for his ability to deliver sparkling deep, warm and inspirational darkprog trancers. His remix on Palladium will find many supporters as he impress us particularly with his great breakdown with the fantastic euphoric synthy stabs that are influenced from classical music themes. His remix remains deep, energetic,punchy and utilise the synthy riff throughout his climax and he keep his audience hooked and engaged. Lastly Naian moves on the same dark, mysterious pathway and he adopts a crunchier dirty foundation of pulsating deep driving basslines and chunky groovy kicks. His climax is sensational with swirling synths that build the tension without the use of the huge euphoric synths from the original. He rather decides to recreate that classical music influenced theme in his own style and the result is a brilliant track that can pass easily the test of time. #PureGold Love It

The very much anticipated E.P. by Sound Fusion on Darkpload is finally brough to life. Delusory Hopes / Rainy In The Night gets a proper sequel in the form of Discovery / Thar, containing three brilliant tracks. First off is the catchy original mix of Discovery, premiered a few months ago by no one other than Markus Schulz on his famous Global DJ Broadcast radioshow. The beautiful main theme surely bring back the memories of some classic Coldharbour Recordings tracks and makes Discovery another really powerful weapon in Tomek's arsenal. B-side track called Thar introduces a little bit different, deeper and more sophisticated atmosphere with its sublime and discrete sounds creating a gorgeus ambience. The guitar riff fullfills the composition very nicely adding to it some freshness and originality. As the alternative to the original there is also Marcin Przybylski remix, showcasing his more techy side of production which Marcin is already recognised by. Minimalistic and sophisticated interpretation creates a totally new space for the main idea behind Thar and makes it suitable to another type sets, those very long ones with some deep intro part. 

Dimitri Kechagias review: The superb record label Darkpload records returns with another high class slice of dark underground trance. Sound Fusion from Poland service the magnificent double tracker Discovery & Thar. Discovery is deep haunting moody progressive trancer with brooding bassline and excellent soundlayers that add some colour in the very dark and gloomy atmosphere. Cinematic and very spacey sound with psytrance infusions that will definitely win its deserved space in your digital collection. Thar is an another excellent example of what tracks Sound Fusion is capable to produce. Brilliant progressive trance that its main stand out element is the guitar riff that sounds really epic, arousing and seductive as well. When the beat strikes back its climax will carry you away for a mysterious melodramatic journey that you are sure that you will reach your end point but you are not very sure which way you should follow! If you search for something more spacious, sparkling and minimal check Marcin Przybylski Remix on Thar that is definitely stripped down to its basic with techy groove and cool atmospherics on top. The rising duo N&R Project arrives to the Darkpload stable with their banging big room E.P. containing two tracks: Globalistic and Neda. Dancefloor-ready cuts will be deffinitely doing well in every club or festival during peak time of the set when the crowd is waiting for a real explosion of energy.

To make the package complete the label's regulars Alex Rusin and Sound Fusion were asked to provide their remixes of the original compositions. After some break Alex returns with his fine style conneccting dark progressive and uplifting trance while Sound Fusion goes a little bit deeper. Both remixes sets the bar very high for their future works. Essential stuff!




Dimitri Kechagias review: Darkpload never fail to deliver the goods and always shine with their solid productions. Globalistic is a heavy big room trancer with dark melodies and very large climax with rough sharp basslines and pumping shocking beats. Electro and tech infusions combined to create the explosive groove in the full on climax. Neda is equally larger than life with emotional cinematic theme in the breakdown with middle east flavour. The climax is absolutely smashing and banging with heavy kicks and sharp as knife basslines while the various spiritual melodic themes are coming and going to create the magnificent atmosphere. Alex Rusin service the beautiful melodic work out that is deep, driving and epic as well. It takes you for a nice ride and travel you senses to faraway lands. Hypnotic, dreamy, emotional and very inspiring as well trancer that will be played a lot. Sound Fusion remix sounds slower as it moves on the deep dark direction with stunning atmospheric soundscapes that invite you to discover more! With influences from Coldharbour recordings basslines and melodies is one of those tracks that will change the mood and set the scenery for whats coming next. Exceptional release not to be missed. The main label opens up its release schedule of 2014 with the brilliant Colapsar by the Polish producer Adam Bialy aka Division One. As premiered during Darkpload Day 2013 back in the June, it was featured in Dark Light track lists several times but definitely for a good reason. Colapsar takes the listeners on a journey through the cold and endless space with its brilliant plucky motive bringing back the good old progressive vibe to life. As addition to the original we got the absolutely wicked intro mix which is even more addictive with its lush and soft beginning slowly fading straight into the drumbeat, making the buildup even better. As for the remixes, Marcin Przybylski was asked to prepare his own version of Colapsar and nothing more can be said about it that it's totally hot. Transforming the base track into a very aggressive progressive banger, Marcin once again gives his great input to the label and sets the bar very high for his future productions. Must-have release for all cosmic sound lovers!





Dimitri Kechagias review: The well known record label Darkpload records from Poland continues to deliver deep emotional progressive trance sounds that definitely stand out and invite the listeners to escape in a mythical mysterious world. Division One present their trance Colapsar that is deep moody driving energetic progressive trancer with great dark atmosphere that is changed  though  the feel good melodic synths that add to the track a wonderful balearic trance feel as well. In my opinion its great that both the dark and the bright side co-exist on this top track. Intro mix is quite similar to the original. The additional remix by Marcin Przybylski is deep moody cinematic progressive trancer that remains on the dark side. The breakdown is long with the female voices creating inspiring atmosphere along with the cool melodic theme that is repeated throughput  the whole track upon the deep basslines and the chunky techy beats and the natural sound effects. Top release not to be missed. Love IT

Born 1987 in Monticello, Arkansas and raised in Wilmar; a small town of roughly 1000 residents just 8 miles west of Monticello. Growing up in this southern setting was at times depressing. There wasn’t much for children in the community. But through the love and compassion of his christian family his life was always full of joy and life long lessons of hard work and moral standing. 

Music was always something Jeremy had been fascinated about but didn’t understand for a couple of years he let go of the desire to know. Then an opportunity was given presented to him as he entered the 5th grade. A chance to be apart of his school’s concert band. Realizing the quality in this opportunity and having always wanted to learn to play music, he presented the offer to his parents and soon joined. As a child he was exposed to lots of southern sounds such as blues, gospel, hip-hop and R&B, so this influenced his first instrument of choice; the saxophone. From then, started a chain reaction. New doors were opened for him. His knowledge of music and its concepts were reaching horizons he had never dreamed. A total of 7 years was spent learning composition, playing live concerts in school and in various other schools and towns around the state and surrounding states. During this time he decided to expand his knowledge even further than required by getting to know various other instruments as well such as, tenor, soprano and bass saxophones, the piano, trumpet, single snare and drum set. After experimenting and learning these various instruments, something was still missing within himself. Although he grew up with certain southern sounds around him, he explored music further and found a love for more genres such as classical, new age, alternative rock, metal, industrial and many more. 

The millennium came and he registered for a technology class called EASTlab (Environmental and Spatial Technology) as an elective. Already owning a computer and having a love for technology and gadgets, this class seemed to be yet again, another door for him. He took this class for 4 consecutive years. He worked on several web design projects and computer maintenance issues. Along the line of software he was introduced to he ran across a sequencer known as Fruity Loops. This was the musical touch he was looking for. He soon acquired the program and began learning its features and understanding the concept of making electronic music. Mimicking hip-hop beats and soon coming up with his own beats. 

From 2002 to 2004, he produced beats for local hip-hop groups and was getting very little pay but some well appreciated local exposure and respect. Realizing aside from the money issue, the sound wasn’t what he wanted to be recognized for as a whole and the lyricists soon stopped working with him. Late 2002, He was introduced to electronic music through a long time friend of his in school taking the EASTlab course. He acquired DJ Tiesto’s In Search of Sunrise compilation discs and later compilations from Oakenfold, Nick Warren, Sasha & John Digweed. Aside from these huge influential jocks, some of the producers that stood out for him was Max Graham, Perry O’Neil, James Holden, Timo Mass and many more because of the atmospheres, textures and overall moods they produced. He then started to mimic the beats and sounds he heard until a sound of his own started to evolve.

Having learned to play the drums and having a love for metal music, he made other musician friends and soon joined a band titled INA in 2005 , which had well local support playing live shows around the state and exclusive local sessions. After a few years Jeremy realized that there were artistic boundaries within the band and one person wanted control over that boundary. The band broke up in late 2006. And Jeremy moved on to focus on what he loved most; music production. In early 2005, he started an alias called Solarrain which saw no releases but got radio support from Chris Chambers on his Elevated Progressive show on DI.fm. This break through, made him realize the potential in his work. Even though, trance was the direction he was trying to push for, a more progressive sound seemed to be emerging from his work. Since then, he’s been hard at work, coming up with a more progressive sound but never ruling out the trance like atmospheres. 

On top of learning production, in early 2006 he decided to become more involved in music. Having a fascination with live performing and the music his heart seemed to take to, DJ-ing was something he always wanted to do. He soon bought his first set of digital CDJs and began practicing. 

Since then, he’s also been racking in promos and working the decks, doing various guest mixes with some fellow friend DJs locally and across the globe such as Lagrom (Space Garden) from Germany, Faruk Sabanci from Turkey, Elmin Ferati from Switzerland and Daniel Hairston from the U.S. Look out for many more radio appearances to come.

Dimitri: Can you tell us about your achievements in your music career in 2013 as DJ &/or producer? 

Jeremy Rowlett: Well, I feel this year has been really successful for me. I've seen some really big support from some of my favorite DJs and producers such as Markus Schulz, Max Graham, John 00 Fleming, Gai Barone, Danilo Ercole, Wellenrausch, Styller, Basil O'Glue, Aaron Camz and more. I think this year my sound is a lot more developed and and grown. I gear my sounds a lot towards progressive but I love using dark melodic deep trance melodies so the remixes I've chosen to do over the course of this year have been geared towards that sound. Dimitri: If you look back on 2013, are there any events in your music career that you wished you had done differently in order to get a better outcome?

Jeremy Rowlett:  I would probably not have picked up so many other projects for remixing. I'm my worst critic, so my original work is always not as good as I want it to be so I'm always using remix projects as practice. But, I don't regret that decision because that is currently paying off as I've been hard at work in my studio working several tracks for early 2014. 

1) Best Track: 
Jeremy Rowlett: That's always a tough question, but if I had to pick one from this year it would most definitely have to be Max Graham - The Evil ID. When I first heard that track it was labeled in the tracklist (ID) ironically! I love the chord progression and sheer energy of that track. Such a floor filler!

Jeremy Rowlett: That would definitely have to be Gai Barone. Such an inspirational and artistic person for me.

Jeremy Rowlett:  I haven't really listened to many albums this year EDM related, but I would have to say John 00 Fleming's album One Hundred Ten [WKO] would be my pick. I'm not big on psy trance, but I am a fan of cinematics and that album had loads of it.

Jeremy Rowlett:  This would have to be Scott Hansen aka ISO50 or better known as Tycho's album Past In Prologue. Such a beautiful piece of art all together. He's by far one of my favorite artists; visually and musically. Check him out!

Jeremy Rowlett: This would probably have to be Twitter for me. I've met some amazing people there over the past couple of years. (You know who you are).

Jeremy Rowlett:  FL Studio of course! I've used it since the beginning. I've tried other DAWs but I always fall right back to it. It just feels too right and the interface is visually pleasing to me.

16) Best Event or Open Air Festival: 
Jeremy Rowlett: I don't really frequent these events but over the years I've attended EDC and I have to say its massive. 

17) Best personal DJ Gig: 
Jeremy Rowlett: I don't really get the opportunity to play live much considering my scene here isn't as fruitful as other places. But, one that does stand out is the Wakarusa DJ competition from 2011. So much energy from that one! Wish all gigs were this way.

Jeremy Rowlett: Probably would have to be this episode of Cycles Radio with Max Graham I'm listening to now showcasing Part 1 of his recent NYC gig. Wish I had be there for this. I suggest finding it online once its uploaded.

Jeremy Rowlett: Recently Max Graham supported my Dark Dub Remix of Andromedha's Thoughts Became Things on his Cycles Radio show on DI.FM. He mentioned me on twitter that it was one of his favorite tracks from the episode and that he loved my sound. This was like an early Christmas for me considering Max has been a favorite since the beginning of my discovery of trance and dance music in general.



28) Best piece of News you heard this year related to Electronic Dance Music: 
Jeremy Rowlett: I can't think of anything that would involve the entire scene but, when I received the news from my friend Simon Tarr that his collaboration with friend Christopher Vassilakis would be releasing on Coldharbour and featured on Markus Schulz Buenos Aires 13 compilation, I was very excited for them both! 

                                                           

29) Best personal achievement related to Electronic Dance Music: 
Jeremy Rowlett: This isn't related to 2013 but getting to the point I'm at now. Also back in December of 2012 I received support from Paul Oakenfold on his Full on Fluro show.

30) Best holiday destination or best hobby or activity that you spent some time in during 2013. 
Jeremy Rowlett: Well, I used to think of my music as a hobby but have slowly committed to it as a career but, as far as hobbies, I love skateboarding. I've done it since before I learned how to ride a bike! 

31) Best piece of advice you got in relation to your career: 
Jeremy Rowlett: Focus on the music and always stay humble.


32) The Best Book this year, preferably related to EDM:
Jeremy Rowlett:  I haven't read any books geared towards EDM but I feel like I should now.

33) Best Movie of the year preferably related to EDM or inspired you to compose a track.
Jeremy Rowlett:  Prometheus. That movie is so amazing. I'm all about aliens and exploring other worlds. Really inspires me. 

34 Best tip that you learnt this year relating to DJ’ing or music composition: 
Jeremy Rowlett: Take your time and remember your audience.

Dimitri: 2014 is ahead of us; would you like to tell us your plans for future releases, tracks, albums, collaborations or DJ gigs.

Jeremy Rowlett:  Well, I have remixes coming in early 2014 for Suffused, Massive Harmony and OLD SQL Recordings. Also, have an EP coming to In Sessions Recordings and others. Some collaboration are also being formed for next year also with some well known names from this year, but I can't discuss those just yet but I can say they all will be massive for sure! I can't wait for what 2014 has in store! Hope to see you all on the other side!

The label strikes back with a brand new release coming from the heart of Europe. Polish producer Wojciech Dąbrowski better known as Heever debuts on the main imprint with his very impressive and well-made composition called 'Analogue', finding the fine balance between trance and house exactly how we like the most. Peaceful and atmospheric sonic waves which the track is made of creates some nice warmth and a feeling of serenity.

 For those looking for something a bit different there is a sweet alternative in the form of two remixes by hope of Spanish progressive trance Alan Cuevas, who already collected supports from Paul van Dyk or Markus Schulz and the German prodigy Leon Beilmann who is responsible for some great tracks not only on Darkpload but on the other labels as well.

 Alan's version is very much like his latest Lost Words / Senda E.P. released not so long ago, bringing back the classic progressive vibes with an emphasis on the deep saw bassline and surrounding sine plucks while Leon Beilmann puts some serious amount of energy into the original with pumping beat and great use of dynamics, exactly like in his last year's fantastic 'Adrenergic Synapse'.

 The single closes this year's schedule with a very nice and balanced mixture of styles in which everybody should find something suitable for him/her.

Polish duo Darkployers, Darkpload Records founders, notches up the long awaited label's milestone 25th release. Astonishing package includes the brilliant old-fashioned original track, showcasing some very good work on the crystal plucks and lush pads, which marks Darkployers' return to the label with style and shows what to expect from them in the near future. 

 On the remix duties there are two names not to be missed for sure, first up is the Greek maestro Christopher Vassilakis, with his out of this world interpretation premiered by Basil O'Glue during Coldharbour Day 2013 which is a slightly deeper and groovy alternative to the original, showing that you really can't go wrong with anything made by Chris. 

 Last but deffinitely not least is Darkpload Deep's manager David Mayne with his more housey yet dynamic variation of 'Forgotten Sounds' adding some new dimension to the original and making the theme club-ready, nicely closing this must-have release for progressive lovers.







Dimitri Kechagias review: The top record label from Poland Darkpload presents the magnificent anthem Forgotten Sounds by Darkployers that is supported by two additional remixes. The original mix is an exceptional big room deep and dark progressive trancer that is powerful and energetic to move big crowds in clubs and festivals. The bassline is haunting and mysterious while on top various blissful little synths create a very pleasant soundscape that you wish straight away to escape and loose your soul in it. Its the kind of trance that brings to my mind cold winter nights and this top tune will warm us all. The Greek talent Christopher Vassilakis impress us with his ability to turn anything he touches into his own very unique brooding style. Great atmosphere that sounds cold and distanced will bring to your mind thousands of mental images that only great music can paint with so much rich detail and texture. You can choose the colours that can be black or grey or with more vibrant colours. Lastly David Mayne version continues the deep and mysterious journey with super long atmospheric breakdown that leads nicely on a very upbeat energetic climax. Quality package for sure. Love iT
