Toolroom’s unique Academy Live events are a great chance to see world-renowned producers in the flesh, and get A&R feedback from team Toolroom. Events so far in Dubai, Brighton, Birmingham, Toronto, Tokyo and Amsterdam have been sold out and resulted in 3 new signings to the label.

A unique way of networking with record label A&Rs and learning from established artists, these events are hugely popular among the producer community.

One thing producers crave above anything is meaningful feedback on their tracks. Making an allstar A&R panel, label boss Mark Knight joins local duo Prok & Fitch to offer guidance and advice on the demos submitted.

Josh Butler makes his debut for the Toolroom Records Academy – one of the most revered young producers of the last few years, he’ll give a session on how he makes that high-calibre, original House sound.

Genre pioneer D Ramirez – known for his groundbreaking productions in Tech House with Toolroom and many other labels, will give an insightful session on getting tracks over the finish line to a finished state.

Finally, new Toolroom signing Ben Remember – who’s been championed by Annie Mac for his fresh sound – will be building a groove live, from scratch!

Key Note: SAVE OUR CLUBS
Club closures is an important issue affecting our scene. Towards the end of 2015, there was a media feeding frenzy on club closures after it was reported that 50% of the UK’s nightclubs have closed since 2005. The mainstream media took the release of these figures as a cue to suggest that young people didn’t want to go to clubs anymore.
Is this true, or is the threat to UK clubs more complex than that? How are restrictive licensing regulations and the attitudes of the authorities affecting these important breeding grounds for electronic music talent? This keynote panel looks at how to Protect The Dancefloor/Save Our Clubs…

Moderator | Carl Loben (Editor; DJ Magazine)
Panelists | Alan Miller (Chairman; NTIA), Hans-Christian Hess (Promotions & International Marketing Manager; Egg London), John Ross (Owner; Mothership Group) & Mark Lawrence (CEO; AFEM)
