Sean Bayer: 2012 was very inspiring and creative year for me in the studio. Few finished tracks and remixes. Also had more airplay time for my tracks, to name few Dj's there, Marcus Schossow, Ville Lope and of course Dj Orion on a national Finnish radio station YleX.

Dimitri: Can you tell us how 2012 has been for the development of your career as a DJ and/or Producer?

Thomas & Chris:
Hey Dimitri,

First, it’s time to say thank you personally for supporting us and our releases in 2012. We enjoyed every review you wrote and it always feels good to get feedback like yours. That confirms that we are on the right track and it keeps us driving, of course. ;-)

To be honest – 2012 was again a big year for us. All of our singles made it to the tops of the so well known Beatport charts and asides this they were supported all over the globe by so many well known DJs and artists! We did play our UK debut in Leeds, we had our release debut on Will Holland’s ENHANCED Records with “OREGANO” and had great & very enjoyable times in the studio with preparing all the stuff for you out there or just hanging around with friends and DJ’s while spinning some records or checking the newest fail compilations on Youtube! ;-) Outch!

An outstanding moment for us was also the 200st episode of our weekly podcast. We had lots of congratulations by many big names in the show, like Armin, Thrillseekers, Tritonal, Bobina, Lange and Estiva, just to name a few. Shivering! Prepare yourself for the next 200!

It’s clear as mud, it will be hard to beat 2012 but we definitely accept the challenge!

                                                                 
Dimitri: If you look back at 2012, are there any moments in your musical career that you wish you had done differently in order to get a better outcome?

Thomas:
I probably would release the first single “Listen To Life Remixes” earlier. We had a long period where we did not release a remix or a single. Chris, do you agree?

Chris:
Yes I do, mate! It’s a so fast moving industry and it feels like that you have a comeback when you just missed to release a single or remix for 2  months. Those gaps need to be filled to stay in the heads of the crowd definitely!


                                           Best of 2012 according to Store N Forward

1) Best Track:
Adam Szabo and Willem De Roo – Lego

It’s a wonderful “new trancer” that is in a certain way returning to mind how the days were when your little brother played LEGO and you bothered the red buttons of the ATARI 500 controller while finding the right position for avoiding a cramp in your arms, hands & fingers! Great times, stunning song! ? Have never heard it yet? Definitely time to check it!

                                                         

2) Best Artist (DJ & producer):
Steven Baan aka Estiva! This man was on fire and he still is! Still happy to had his guest support in our WORKOUT radio show! Well and of course it wasn’t only Steven made an amazing job in 2012. Also our Russian friends and super duo Eximinds, Dennis Sheperd, Karanda and Wellenrausch definitely made big steps forward this past year!!! You should have an eye on each of them!


                                                              
3) Best New Talent (DJ or producer):
Porter Robinson and Johan Malmgren
Just because!
                                                 

4) Best artwork/cover of an album or compilation:
Still love the ability to have a great designer at Afterglow Records who creates always fantastic covers and artworks for every single release. He is the best!

                                       

5) Best Vocalist/Singer featured on an EDM track:
We think Neev Kennedy can review 2012 as her break trough. Almost every known artist has worked with her and every song became pure energy when Neev started to sing. We hope she keep that outstanding work in 2013 and of course we hope someday she will work with us?! ?

                                                                 

6) Best EDM Label:
Enhanced and of course the best underground trance label hint is Afterglow Recordings!

7) Best Online Social media network:
Nothing competes Facebook.

8) Best music composition software:
We are using Cubase since we are producing music. It’s always a great hint to have a look into the “Vengeance” and “Waves” portfolio with all their helpful plugins and fantastic synthesizers.

9) Best personal DJ Gig:
Every gig is a pleasure for us and we enjoy each of it so much that it’s not right to say that one experience beat the other, but if you ask for a special moment then we take our UK debut. It felt great to be under so many DJ’s, friends & fans from the UK we had only known from the social media before!

10) Best Radio show:
We are not consuming too many other radio shows. But Armin’s ASOT and A&B’s TATW/ABGT are the most recognized and respected weekly Trance/EDM shows with an overwhelming popularity. They are spreading the “underground” all over the globe and it’s so important to have shows with an incomparable recognition like this!



                                                                 
11) Best Online Record shop for purchasing music:
Definitely www.beatport.com !  Offering the earliest and most exclusive releases with the biggest genre & track selection for EDM fans and more!

12) Best Website that you regularly visit:
No day without Google N Facebook ?! Recently thought about changing our name to it…well, let’s see what we can do in terms of the right to the name…but shouldn’t be a big deal... :-D

13) Best smart phone/mobile phone App or device:
Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill iPhone App. (These guys are a cult in Germany, not sure if anywhere else!? ? ) They have wisdoms for any circumstance! ;-) And the App SCORE! where you can replay famous soccer goals. Just great!
                                                        

14) Best DJ equipment (software and/or hardware, Mixer, Deck etc):
We love to spin with Pioneer equipment – over the last decade Pioneer rightly developed to marked leader for DJ mixer and CD player. Well constructed, direct & professional surface feel, clubby effects and in the meanwhile supporting USB & DVD as well…

15) Best or most amusing Twitter or Facebook message you have received from a fan or friend or you have read:
Chuck Norris Did ?: Chuck Norris makes onions cry.

16) Best piece of News this year relating to Electronic Dance Music:
The world doesn’t end on Dec. 21st ! Phew…that was close!

17) Best piece of advice you received in relation to your career:
Cobbler, stick to your last! So we did and will do what we can do best – Trance!

                                                     
19) Any single event which inspired you to compose a track.
Thomas:
Well, it’s not a single event. It’s more a regular recurrent thing when I watch a great movie with great score. This combination is always inspiring.

Chris:
No single event as well. There were a couple of moments when I was really tired after a long day and close to fall asleep and then a melody flashed through my mind. Oh, boy! What should I do. Singing it in my dreams until I sleep or keep it somewhere for working on it someday? ... exhausted, but knowing this melody would get lost if I’m not holding it somewhere, I got up again (left eye still closed) and jingled it on my guitar while yodeling some “lalalas” over it right into my phone … next day it wasn’t unusual that I realized that it would had been better to sleep.. :-D

Thomas & Chris:
Luckily we had already prepared a lot of stuff in 2012. You can be excited like we are and look forward to a few collaborations, new singles & the weekly Podcast Shows (aired on many Internet & FM radio stations from Canada to France) plus keeping the “WORKOUT” radio show on www.di.fm coming!

Basil O'Glue: Hi there! I think 2012 has been a very good year for myself. I had my fist international gig,  I launched my own label (with Styller) I did plenty of remixes that had big support. The only negative about myself is that I havent done a lot of original tunes. Actually this is going to happen in 2013.

Dimitri: If you look back at 2012, are there any moments in your musical career that you wish you had done differently in order to get a better outcome?

Beginning  a new track from the kick drum, and not from the bassline as I used to do.

Basil O'Glue: As I mentioned before, I will stop doing many remixes, and focus more on original productions. I already started a collaboration with Wellenrausch, we are still in the making. About my label we have signed some really cool tunes, by names like Aaron Camz, Danilo Ercole and others. About dj gigs, I've been booked for one very cool festival, but I can't say more at the moment.

Morgan Page: 2012 was the craziest year yet. I played some of the biggest festivals in the world - Coachella and Electic Daisy Carnival, and toured everywhere from China to Brazil. Dance music has blown up in N. America so much that it's been a very exciting past few years.

Don't You Worry Child - Swedish House Mafia. This was such a great combination of pop, EDM, and club friendly sounds.

I really liked Zedd's album this year.

United States, the crowds are so fresh and ready for anything!

Pioneer DJM-900 - I no longer carry around a huge mixer!

How about most overused sound? The "modern talking" waveform in Massive, and the "whoop" sample were done to death this year.

20) Best tip that you learnt this year for your DJ’ing or music composition: 
The theory of three - your ear can only hear three distinct sounds

Suzy: 2012 has been great for me. I’ve been working on several tracks and playing gigs with some of my favorite DJ’s like Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold, Sander van Doorn, Gabriel & Dresden, DJ Rap, and Noel Sanger. Next year will be even bigger!

Dimitri: If you look back at 2012, are there any moments in your musical career that you wish you had done differently in order to get a better outcome?

Suzy: Not any specifics moments, but I do wish that I would have gotten a personal assistant so that I’d have had more time to get everything done.

The Pete Silver remix of Alpha Force - Egyptian Legends stands out for me. It’s so beautiful that I’ve had it stuck in my head for months.

I can always count on the Alex MORPH remixes to be top notch.
 
Best New Talent:

I’ve always loved Cubase. It’s the only one that I use really, so I don’t have anything else to compare it to.
 
Best Event or Open Air Festival:

Best personal DJ Gig:
My favorite gig this year was for Apollo Productions on New Year’s in Calgary, Canada. I had such a great time; I stayed for a few extra days.
 
Best DJ set of the year by another fellow DJ:
Paul Oakenfold at The Gallery. I can’t remember the date, but it was phenomenal!
 
                                               
 
Best country which you personally have performed in:
I always get super excited to play in Canada. I love the people, their party scene, and the country is really beautiful.
 
Best up-for-it crowd:
Club Space in Miami during WMC has my vote.
 
Best Radio show:
Whenever I have free time to check out a radio show, I usually pick Sean Tyas’ Tytanium Sessions. I love the energy and track choices!
 
Best Online Record shop for purchasing music:
Audiojelly is my pick because of their great selection, low prices, and specials deals.
 
Best smart phone/mobile phone App or device:
Viber is my favorite because I can text/call anyone in the world for free. It’s also a free app!
 
Best piece of News this year relating to Electronic Dance Music:
Hands down, the best piece of news was Armin regaining his number one position at DJ Mag.
