Paul Morrell and Latroit unveil remixes of Positiva classic ‘As The Rush Comes’ by Motorcycle

Reworks celebrate 25th anniversary year for iconic label

Unveiling a special remix package of the 2004 classic ‘As the Rush Comes’, iconic dance label Positiva Records have launched the Paul Morrell and Latroit reworks of the timeless anthem, in honour of their 25 year anniversary in 2018.

A collaboration between trance duo Gabriel & Dresden, and vocalist JES, ‘Motorcycle’ received widespread acclaim upon the release, which soon became a number one single on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2004, peaking at number #11 in the UK and the top 10 of several other European countries.

With 2018 marking a quarter of a century for Positiva being at the summit of the dance industry, the label have enlisted the work of both Paul Morrell, and Latroit, to sprinkle modern magic on the timeless record.

British producer and XXL resident DJ Paul Morrell laces his own mix with euphoric, high-tempo chords and a floorfilling breakdown, a stark contrast to the deeper, gritty interpretation offered by 2018 Grammy Award winning American producer and composer, Latroit, who added:
“'As The Rush Comes’ was obviously one of the stand-out tracks of the decade, and it was amazing to get my hands on that vocal. I’ve also known Dave Dresden (one third of Motorcycle) for years before this came out and it was great to reconnect and finally work with him creatively after all this time.’
Having sound-tracked an array of nights over the last 25 years, the remixes precede the start of a busy period for Positiva, with the label showcasing a weekend of shows at Ministry of Sound (where JES will perform ‘As the Rush Comes’ live), before Jason Ellis, A&R director of Positiva, appears at International Music Summit (IMS) in Ibiza in May to talk about the label’s success.

To celebrate 25 years since its inception, the label will spend 2018 showcasing their back-catalogue with a series of one-off parties and special releases from both the present day and yesteryear with Positiva also hosting a virtual exhibition, giving fans the opportunity to delve deeper into the rich history of the label via the Shazam code below. The remix package will also be made available as a vinyl pre-order, which also includes a new Dash Berlin remix to be promoted soon.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The beloved classic by Gabriel & Dresden as Motorcycle is re-released on the beloved label Positiva Records. As The Rush Comes has received through the years various remix renditions and the ones included in the package follow the current trends for melodic tech house by Latroit with touch of indie dance and electro influences with hypnotic edge and distorted vocals by JES while Paul Morrell is adding the festival style version with tribal and future house basslines, uplifting synths and more upbeat lets party style treatment. Both versions will attract younger audiences who may don't know the track yet and they will happily embrace it all over again as the rush of its glorious lyrics comes and carry us away. The package becomes complete with the exceptional Dash Berlin remix. The Dutch superstar DJ applies the well known sounds from the Gabriel & Dresden version in brand new context. The breakdown is emotional and deep followed by classic synthy hook that sounds festivals ready with the right credibility for trance fanatics worldwide. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

We have to admit, we got a little bit excited the very first time we saw Dash Berlin and John Dahlback on a collaboration together.

Once we heard Bully Songs’ contribution, we were completely sold.

‘Never Let You Go’ is as pure as it gets — sweet, memorable, and just right for the main stage.

Dimitri Kechagias review: When Dash Berlin is releasing brand new music we are always excited cause his vocal tracks are extremely catchy and absolutely memorable. Dash Berlin music makes you feel good and ready to go out and party. For his track Never Let You Go collaborates with the Swedish superstar John Dahlback while on vocals is BullySongs. The original club mix is an energetic peak time  progressive house anthem tailor made for festival arenas and mainstage sets. The basslines is energetic and driving, the drums are punchy and pushing forward while the breakdown is truly romantic allowing BullySongs pop infused vocal performance to carry away the listener and transfer them to another musical dimension. Manse remix is an equally powerful progressive house version that big room trance djs will adore as well as it is packed with melodic harmonies, euphoric synths and truly cinematic breakdown with pianos and rock guitar riffs like watching your favourite rock band playing live in a concert. Last but not Rees remix moves on the same progressive territory with additional playful electro influenced basslines while the breakdown is equally captivating and captures your emotions straight away. Three Just Perfect versions for an anthem that can get club, festival and radio plays! Love It

Dash Berlin & John Dahlback ft. BullySongs - Never Let You Go Lyrics:

We were living a lie and looking away
Floating inside some outer space
Hurting ourselves and losing control We were so far gone

But then underneath it all, underneath it all
There's something beautiful like a fallen star
You show me not to let, show me not to let let it go

All over again, time after time
I never believed it could be mine
A flash in the dark, when nothing was right
When I'm with you I feel alive

Il never let you go
Il never let you go
Il never let you go
Il never let you go

We're splitting the sky with fire in our hearts
And nothing can stop us leaving the past
They try pulling us back and tying us down
We're too far gone

Way up above it all up above it all were
Something beautiful and it's all because you
Show me not to let, show me not to let let it go

All over again, time after time
I never believed it could be mine
A flash in the dark, when nothing was right
When I'm with you feel alive

Il never let you go
Il never let you go
Il never let you go
Il never let you go

During  Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), 15-19 October, a record number of 2,224 artists from 57 different countries  performed. The 19th edition of the biggest and most prominent event for electronic music, an initiative of Buma, put Amsterdam in the international spotlight for all five days. More than 400 journalists, 5,000 conference visitors and 350,000  festival visitors travelled from all over the world to the capital of entertainment and electronic music culture and industry.

On Wednesday 15 October, Herna Verhagen, CEO of PostNL, presented Dutch DJs Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Dash Berlin and Hardwell with their very first ‘Dutch DJ’ stamps. This presentation took place on the opening day of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in the ADE X SAMSUNG HOME on the Rembrandt square, Amsterdam. All four djs were there to express their gratitude for this initiative of PostNL except Tiësto who was absent at the presentation and he personally received his first stamp at a later time. PostNL is proud to honor these dance heroes during ADE. Herna Verhagen  explained how five music clips from recent tracks can be heard after scanning the stamps, one from each DJ.

Designer Paul du Boi-Reymond of design studio Our Machine was present and talked about the creation of the stamps  in collaboration with colleague Mark Klaversteijn. During this wonderful event I had the chance to interview Dash Berlin and to ask him about his feelings of having his first ever dj stamp. Also I asked him about his performances at Armada Night and Amsterdam Music Festival during ADE. We discuss his current album We Are Part 1 and his latest single with 3LAU FT. Bright Lights - Somehow. It's definitely a wonderful interview that Dash Berlin proves how talented artist he is and we definitely aint seen nothing yer from him.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Dash Berlin is back with an album that is already considered as classic with released just the Part one of it. We Are is an amazing journey into turmoil of emotions packed with the immense energy and adrenaline that characterises the high class production values of Dash Berlin. His latest track Somehow with 3LAU feat. Bright Lights is released on W&W globally known record label Mainstage Music. It can be characterised as progressive festival house with big room trance elements as well. The main element as it happens with every single Dash Berlin anthem is the great vocals that here are performed in true perfection from Bright Lights with the very distinctive indie rock sounding style that sounds sweet but quite sharp and dominating at the same time. You can expect the fattest pounding drums, punchy in your face aggressive basslines and in the breakdown romantic emotional melodic themes with certain cinematic atmosphere that is reflected on the very cinematic music videos that Dash Berlin offer us for so many years. The euphoric synthy riffs sound like a tornado that attacks the dancefloor and take over the senses of the clubbers who will find impossible not to start jumping and bouncing around with hands in the air and tears in their eyes as the emotional resonance of the main theme is very strong. Quality electronic dance music for sweaty mainstage performances only! #PureGold Love It

1-Here Tonight(Acoustic mix)

A shattered glass left a broken heart
a thousand miles and nowhere to start
but I won't let this pain deceive us, and hide this feeling
I can't break this love between us, we'll survive through healing

I won't waste, this, love, here tonight
and I'll embrace, this, love, here tonight, here tonight and if I break, my, bones, in the fight
feel the love inside us here tonight, here tonight, here tonight

Dimitri Kechagias review: Here Tonight by Dash Berlin & Jay Cosmic is 100% anthem that was played on radio, clubs and festivals. One of the strongest element in its big success is the Colin McLoughlin vocals that are absolutely magical and deeply inspirational as well. The acoustic mix is the dreamy relaxing version that calms the senses and minus the heavy beats and euphoric synths allow us to focus on the human voice that will cast a spell on you without doubts. Great strings, cinematic arrangement that elevates the whole track to the next level and I can easily imagine this version being included in a film soundtrack or tv series. #PureGold Love IT

The anticipation factor has been tremendous… The hype and buzz around Dash Berlin’s latest (and some say most impressive) studio album was undeniable.

Dash was quoted as saying: “at the end of the day, it’s going to be your soundtrack, to your life, so let’s do this together”. And so ‘We Are’ was born — out of a love for the fans that helped build the current #10 DJ in the world into what he is today.

Ever since ’Till the Sky Falls Down’ first changed the world (and helped define the special sound of Dash Berlin), fans have been hungering for the next expression of musical delight to spring forth from one of the world’s most celebrated entertainers. In witnessing Dash’s promotion leading up to the release, there was an unmistakable spark present in his communication with his fans.

Despite being limited by the 140 character medium, it is obvious that Dash Berlin has been brimming with pride with each and every teaser — clearly this is much more than a project to the artist. And it shows. Finding a breakaway track in the album is almost impossible. These eight tracks could all be considered potential anthems, and each one would be right at home on the radio.

3LAU, John Dahlback, Rigby, Roxanne Emery, Jay Cosmic, BullySongs, Adam Jensen, Disfunktion, Chris Arnott, Bright Lights, Syzz and Collin McLoughlin all came to the aid of ‘We Are’, helping to build the classics that will undeniably shape Dash Berlin’s career for many years to come.

Cranking up the BPMs straight to 145, D-Block & S-te-Fan created a monster of a tune that will certainly bring Dash Berlin’s classic to heaps of new listeners.

Perfect for festivals all over the globe, there can be no doubt that this remix of ‘Here Tonight’ will serve headlining DJs well, everywhere bass music dominates the scenery.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Dash Berlin definitely has one of his best years so far with extremely well reception from global audiences from the first tracks revealed from his new album. The first single that manage to capture the interest is the magical Here Tonight  with Jay Cosmic featuring the excellent vocals by  Collin McLoughlin. The track is super catchy and is one of those tunes that deserve to get mainstream recognition as well as it contains strong melody and great dynamic vocals. The second part of the remixes includes the Blinders remix and the D-Block & S-te-Fan Remix that we have in our hands and must say that we are super impressed on the way that the track is turned into a rough hardstyle track with heavy bouncy kick, pumping punchy rough bassline and great application of the vocal with support from the euphoric synthy stabs that remain unforgettable once you hear them. The great thing about this remix is that the vocals stay untouched and they are not speed them up or speed them down. Heavy, basswoofer friendly anthem that will get many plays on Amsterdam Music Festival that Dash Berlin will perform amongst Armin van Buuren & David Guetta. #PureBassPower Love iT

Dash Berlin is an artist that inspires young people to love great quality music even more and many of them have him as role model as well. His album We Are is definitely one of the most anticipated albums of the year that marks Dash Berlin's decision to change slightly his direction and from strictly trance oriented material to produce an album that targets the mainstage sets of the festivals and sound great on radio stations as well. The first single to surface from his album is his collaboration with Jay Cosmic featuring the magnificent singer Jay Cosmic called Here Tonight. The original album mix is already catapulting the various charts including Armada Music Stream Top 40. After announcing his new album (to be released this summer), Dash Berlin reveals the first gem from it – ‘Earth Meets Water’.  It’s no wonder that this song absolutely destroyed A State of Trance in Utrecht this year (and elsewhere).

Dash Berlin’s uncompromising commitment to epic vocals and driving beats has kept him afloat as one of the world’s highly regarded artists, with a very recognizable and captivating sound.

The sound of Dutch band Rigby could be described as sweet, pure, and full of bittersweet emotion.

There are enough musical areas where these two artists overlap to make for an outstanding collaboration, and it’s precisely the subtle differences in their respective sounds that make ‘Earth Meets Water’ so special.  The essence of both contributors is equally felt, and the pairing is nothing sho rt of awe-inspiring.

‘Earth Meets Water’ is a magical feeling that, if you’re not careful, can slip through your fingers like a fistful of sound…

Lyrics

Hold me tonight
What happend to me
My head in the clouds
Fallen so deep
You came in soft
No shoes on my feet
Cold and afraid
It feels like I could break down
Right here on this shore
I'll go a straight

Here I stand,
Where earth meets water
The wind blows smoke,
across the land
So hear me out,
our lives get harder
It slips through our fingers,
like this fist full of sand
like a fist full of sand

Lay down tonight
The stars as our spine
Summer will fade
And it feels like I will lose you,
with each of the turning tides
Till the first snow arrives

So here I stand,
Where earth meets water
The wind blows smoke,
across the land
So hear me out,
our lifes get harder
It slips through our fingers,
like this fist full of sand

Here I stand,
Where earth meets water
It slips through our fingers,
like a fist full of sand

It slips through our fingers

Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the most beloved trance artists is of course the exceptional Dash Berlin who has produced until now some of the finest trance classics of all times and his performances around the world are exceptional with huge army of dedicated followers. Dash Berlin is the case of an artist that became what he is because of his strong fanbase and their involvement and not because of huge hype machine around him. His first track from his forthcoming album is the excellent vocal single with Rigby called Earth Meets Water. We deal here with another future classic that will crossover to wide variety of dj sets. It's the type of the track that has strong pop appeal as a result of the excellent Rigby vocals and fantastic lyrics as well. The performance has that indie rock edge that works so well with EDM at the moment and the lyrics are deep, meaningful and will resonate to many people's lives. The track contains the energetic vibes we get usually from Dash Berlin with punchy drums, pumping vibrating basslines and huge hands in the air uplifting synths that will excite the crowds and drive them  crazy without doubts. Very danceable production that is destined to have great impact on any dancefloor from epic prog house to big room / mainstage trance sets.  If you love full vocal trance tracks and not just short top lines you are doing to adore it big time! #PureGold Love IT
