Guest Reviewer Alex Wright ahead of his monthly radio show Trance Encounters on 1mix radio every first Friday of the month presents his top 5 anthems for this month and explains in his own words why these particular tracks make him happy and what elements through his own experience as producer appreciates more. 



Sean Tyas - Ambush (Original Mix) [Black Hole Recordings]

Released on his Degeneration Volume Two EP last December, this thumping Tech-Trance crossover has been re-released on Sean's debut album this month along with 13 other fantastic tracks that feature influences ranging from intense psy-trance, powerful melodic uplifting, tearout Drum & Bass, liquid, downtempo, and breaks to say the least. This track stands out as one of my favourites, as it proves that Sean Tyas' musical influences range from far places that all add up to make Trance great. Not much melodic content in this one, as it's a pure heads down filler track which could fit well into any Trance set in the higher BPM ranges. I would personally love to hear more tracks in this vain being created and played in Trance sets, as it adds for great diversity amongst more melodic tunes.

Pedersen & Farid - Going Back (Area51 Remix) [Elliptical Sun Energies]

With support from the likes of Aly & Fila, Armin van Buuren, Dan Stone, Daniel Kandi, and Manuel Le Saux, this remix release of the label's first catalog entry did an exceptionally good job at showing how a great melody can be transformed into equally special pieces of art by two quality producers. My personal favourite out of Mhammed El Alami's more soaring, uplifting take and Area51's tech-tinged version has to be the latter, as it provides a great "hands in the air" breakdown moment before flipping back in to rolling Tech grooves and teasing the brilliant melody back in. Played by Dan Stone at The Gallery last month, this remix just pips it to the post, however I have to also recommend the equally brilliant Mhammed El Alami remix as well.

Cold Rush & Mhammed El Alami - Aviana (Original Mix) [Always Alive Recordings]

In case you haven't heard of these two amazing talented artists before, I suggest you check both of their respective back catalogues, particularly their recent works. Both have an excellent winning formula for quality, powerful melodic trance and here they put their heads together to make 'Aviana', released on Daniel Kandi's Always Alive Recordings. Driving, straight forward grooves carry this monster along with rhythmic rolling basslines and an infectious main melody which sends the climax into pure, soaring euphoria.

Lewis Duggleby & Mark Landragin - Rotation (Amir Hussain Remix) [Digital Society Recordings]

Another excellent offering from Amir, this time in the form of a remix for Trance Sanctuary promoters Lewis Duggleby and Mark Landragin. Amir's sound has been a big inspiration to me as of late, with his excellent layering and EQ placement to create a beefy, driving and anthemic sound that has proven to work great on the dancefloor. Completely changing the key from the original and providing plenty of tension and a rewarding main section, this interpretation of the excellent original shows how Amir can effortlessly remix a track to make it his own.

 Allen & Envy And Allen Watts - Vega (UDM Remix) [Together Recordings]

Released in its original form at the beginning of this year and picking up support from the likes of Armin van Buuren and countless others, the Leicester duo Allen & Envy's own 'Together Recordings' delivers this remix release which adds further diversity to the excellent melody in the original. Dmitriy Uskov aka UDM's remix is my favourite out of the package, with thumping drive and huge lead sounds making it perfect for any peak time set.

The massive swirling synths are introduced on the first part and lead this highly energetic trancer to the emotional cinematic breakdown with dreamy atmosphere and massive hands in the air colourful euphoric synths that will blow your mind and send shivers all over your body. The main melodic synthy lead is uplifting and very dynamic with melodramatic epic tones as we loved it to be.  A & Z Remix roughens the proceedings with heavy foundation of aggressive sharp basslines and banging energetic grooves while on top huge orchestral synths are added. On the breakdown emotional piano melody is introduced along with opera chorus voices that create the cinematic  feeling followed by huge burst of colourful synths that drive the track to the massive climax that synths and sensitive piano melody are merged in perfection. The great Greek producer  Chris Voro who has appearances on many top labels including Perfecto records delivers his neo psy trance meets tech trance version that adds brand new vocal samples and reworks the main melodic theme in a way that serves his more underground trance style. 3 excellent versions on a label that you should trust blindfolded. #PureGold Love iT

Dreamy delivers Together Recordings latest high energy, trance thunderbolt for the peak-time rooms with the immaculate ‘Just Run’!

The Original Mix is the perfect energizer for any set. Heavyweight drum rhythms, sizzling bass lines and hard driven synths propel the floor into frenzy, whilst the enchanting vocals, rapturous break down chords and roof raising hook lines deliver maximum intensity into the drops - STUNNING!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Together recordings continues to impress with its current release coming from Dreamy who is one of the most trusted and climbing high trance producers. The track is called Just Run and is definitely one of those tracks that when you play it on your car stereo you want simply to run as fast as you can. In other words manages to bring inside you that sense of urgency and intensity that only trance can offer to its listeners. Straight to the point composition that follows the uplifting trance pathway with added acid layers, heavy aggressive basslines and fantastic breakdown with heavenly opera female voices, cinematic dreamy atmosphere followed by the massive euphoric synthy stabs that lead the track to its full on hands in the air pure and honest climax. Johan Ekman is well trusted for his underground trance sound and on this remix he does what he knows best with tech trance, acid trance and old school hard trance influences. Massive euphoric synthy leads in his breakdown that will blow speakers for sure and superb hands in the air climax that as we always wanted to be. Rough, bass tasty and uplifting at the very same time. Very juicy trance package! #PureGold Love iT

Together Recordings latest mainroom sledgehammer comes from rising star and label debutant, Abandoned Rainbow with a double A-sided slice of peak time weaponary entitled ‘Because I love You / Let Me In’!

Because I Love You opens the release in energetic fashion as the pounding kick drums, power-packed percussive patterns and rippling bass rhythms drive the floor from the outset. Dimitri Kechagias review: Together recordings manage within a short amount of time and handful of releases manage to attract the interest of the trance community as a result of  its careful selections. The latest one comes from the new project   Q-W-E-R-T-Y and the massive uplifting hard trancer Screenshot. The package is supported by 3 additional equally strong remixes. The original mix is a straight forward hard uplifting trancer with tough rough beats, heavy and driving basslines, acid infusions and superb long breakdown with incredible calming atmosphere that slowly builds up the tension until the beat to kick back for the full on euphoric climax that will keep happy and excited every trancer worldwide. This is what I call a super intense trance experience. Vlind remix is a great hybrid of uplifting with tech trance that is banging, booming with playful basslines and  clever stop and goes effects plus some vocal snippets. The breakdown is very atmospheric while the climax is bass focused and ultra rough. The uplifting trance section comes at the very end of the track to keep every trancer pleased. Daniel Skyver never fails to impress and on this one he does marvellous job. His version is straight to the point pure uplifting trancer with acid overtones to keep the proceedings underground. The breakdown is very emotional with melancholic piano chords and huge euphoric synthy leads that raise the tension and hands in the air. His climax is full on hands in the air with the epic synthy on top of the rough and heavy driving basslines. Last but not least Rymania remix is even harder and heavier than the previous 3 versions. The beat sounds really gigantic and the basslines are thunderous. The breakdown is very cinematic with epic strings and ambient atmosphere. The build up drives the track towards its full on hands in the air climax that will keep us jumping and wobbling around. Quality productions of pure underground trance goodness. Love IT

Dimitri Kechagias review: The unstoppable record label Together recordings presents the brand new banger Anarchy produced  by the label owners Allen & Envy vs Adam Deane. The package is supported by 4 exquisite remixes. The original mix is a great mixture of tech trance with uplifting trance sounds. Its most distinctive element is the massive hands in the air epic melody that gives you the illusion of being in a state of Anarchy with protesters all over the place and people demonstrating for the right to party hard. The climax is super fat and furious with razor sharp basslines punching in your stomach hard. You can easily imagine the crowd jumping around and enjoying themselves. The well known producer Steve Morley provides his full on euphoric trancer that is straight to the point and targets the trance fans who like it pure. He recreates in a very electronic way the main synthy riff and the result is epic and feel good to the maximum. He even applies a very nice shouting female vocal that you can hear in the background and adds to the atmosphere of the whole track. Johann Stone reshapes and reworks the original with aggressive rough basslines, pumping jumping beats and quite industrial sound. Johann delivers the very playful, adrenaline charging and energizing translation. For me the finest remix on the package comes from Andres Sanchez who adds superb spoken vocal samples about the theme of Anarchy of course in his long and very cinematic breakdown. The climax can not get any harder and more uplifting so prepare for the take off cause this remix is about the raise the roof. Pure uplifting trance pleasures to make you dream and dance. When you will play it, you know that is very hard to stand still. Last remix comes from Project 8 that is an excellent modern uplifting trancer with edgy tech trance sounds and hi-nrg driving basslines. It will please the pure uplifting trance fanatics for sure. Dimitri Kechagias review: The very successful record label of Allen & Envy reached its 6th release. Project 8 presents its mouthwatering composition Enigma so better get ready for an awesome unforgettable hard uplifting banger that will smash the house and drive mad all the innocent souls that will be exposed to its influence. First of all is the original mix that is  hard tech  trance to its fullest and most stunning. It sounds like an army of millions soldiers attacking the unsuspected enemy. The breakdown is the moment that the huge rave style distorted synthy leads appears and will cause mass destruction. Its the kind of melody that goes into your nerve system and energise your senses instantly. You don't need pain killers after that I can assure you cause the only thing that you will feel is the heart throbbing bass and cracking beat. James Williams is on remix duties and he has a lot of fan in his studio for sure. His remix is playful with constant ups and downs and combination of tech trance / psy infused sequences and for the melodic lovers euphoric parts too. Sure Weapon for your next Trance battle.
