Anjunadeep fan-favourite duo 16BL remix Cubicolor’s highlight album track ‘As You Fly’.


Having released their third album ‘Sometime Not Now’ in 2022, Cubicolor then embarked on a US tour earlier this year where they will be returning for some shows between the months of November and December.

16BL deliver a more club-focused version of the track, where the original vocals and guitar feel lighter, as they are surrounded by busy percussion, a thumping kick drum, and varied synths that take the track to the dance-floor.


‘As You Fly’ (16BL Remix) is out on October 6th via Anjunadeep.

British/Dutch trio Cubicolor share their highly-anticipated album ‘Sometime Not Now’, alongside latest single ‘The Outsider’. The record is available on all digital platforms via Anjunadeep on 28 October.

The three-piece electronic band - AKA Tim Digby-Bell, Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock - are armed with their most accomplished record to date, ‘Sometime Not Now’. Created during the pandemic as a response to a body of work that was previously scrapped, the band rediscovered their desire to bring those tracks back to life. The band add: “It wasn't the right time in 2019 for these songs, but we really feel it is now.” With enough time and reflection, they were able to come back to the tracks with fresh minds envisioning new opportunities in technological advancements taking place in the world. “When we decided to drop a whole album, it felt like a relief on the one hand but also like admitting defeat on the other hand. We just couldn't push that train up that hill at that point in time, and that was very frustrating. A lot of doubt and confusion crept in as well because of this. But sometimes you just need to give something time. When we picked the tracks up again in 2020, the doubt and confusion had evaporated. Instead of road blocks we saw opportunities.”

The 12-track record is filled with introspection, self-reflection and critical thinking, whilst being bold and expansive on a musical level. They create warm dreamy soundscapes that take the listener on a beguiling odyssey through the spectrum of the electronic sphere, at once emotive and downbeat, the next uplifting and euphoric. An album containing gems that the band have sat on for a long time, they have also unveiled their focus track for the record in ‘The Outsider’, a song that perfectly encompasses the entire energy that Cubicolor generate throughout the album. Talking about the single, the band explained: “We wanted to write a bigger tune that encompassed the energy of change, of seeking more and running with it.”

Throughout the record, the band explore their sound, style and pace in a poignant manner, whilst creating a unique and unconventional sonic space. Previously known as 16BL, a hugely accomplished act in the house and techno world throughout the 2000s, Ariaan and Peter had been performing and writing together since their early 20s. Meanwhile, Tim comes from an equally intriguing background as a poet and a playwright. Taking inspiration from philosophy, astronomy, history, the arts and culture, the artists continue to develop their sound, as Peter comments: “As an artist you have to try to create a really big swimming pool of inspiration to swim around in.”

Boasting over 70m streams across their first two albums ‘Brainsugar’ and ‘Hardly A Day, Hardly A Night’, the band have received praise from a multitude of music outlets - including The Independent, Clash Magazine and Line of Best Fit - as well as support from fellow music makers RÜFÜS DU SOL, Tale Of Us, Dixon and Diplo to name a few. With collaborations from artists such as Diplo and Keinemusik, and subtle references from the likes of Debussy, Aphex Twin and Philip Larkin, Cubicolor have created an album that breaks the mould and sets the tone for the future of electronic music. Having produced countless tracks over the years with no sign of slowing down, the trio’s brand new album ‘Sometime Not Now’ is a real landmark moment in the group’s career.

Excellent cinematic breaks tracks with electro touches, experimentation with even Western filmic sounds and magnificent classical music outro piece to let those end credits slowly run. It's the type of album that you should enjoy from start to finish to let the talented group to explore and experience the whole palette of emotions, grooves, melodies and definitely it is a great journey worth taking for sure. #PureGold Love It  [/content]

Sensational British/Dutch trio Cubicolor announce their forthcoming album ‘Sometime Not Now’.

Cubicolor are a British/Dutch three piece that lie somewhere in between the electronic and indie genre, consisting of Ariaan, Peter and Tim hailing from notably different backgrounds, all with very successful previous musical experiences behind them. A powerful sense of cohesion is at the very core of Cubicolor, with each member of the group bringing equal measures of musical knowledge. Together, their collective expertise provides an extra sense of perspective, talent and inspiration to Cubicolor’s unique, electronic fusion, with a real intuitive flair.

The latest release from the trio titled ‘Summer & Smoke’ was co-produced by &ME, part of the acclaimed Keinemusik collective who produced a number of tracks on Drake’s #1 album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’, and has proved to be a vibrant electronic taste of what’s to come. ‘Summer & Smoke’ has an evocative underground feel to it, reflecting the groups’ musical abilities and knack for creating dancefloor moments. Cubicolor’s new single ‘No Dancers’ exemplifies the trio's capacity for inimitable, sincere songwriting. Enveloping Tim Digby-Bell’s melancholic lyrics in a rich arrangement of arpeggiated synthesizers and cascading keys, the Dutch trio create a dreamlike soundscape that is at once both foreboding and promising. Cubicolor kick off their debut live European tour later this month, taking in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin before ending with a sold-out show at London’s Pickle Factory. In November they head stateside to support Rüfüs Du Sol on 11 dates of their North American album tour.
