Lilly Palmer notes in her instagram account:
Dear Dancefloor Dreamer,
Techno is more than music – it’s a safe haven, a space where you can be yourself without fear or judgment. It’s the rhythm that turns pain into connection, strangers into family, and fleeting moments into unforgettable memories.
For me, techno is freedom, authenticity, and transformation. It’s where vulnerability becomes strength, and the beat takes us on a journey beyond words, together.
This album, Bigger Than Techno, is my way of sharing that magic with you – to feel seen, connected, and inspired.
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Lilly Palmer’s album Bigger Than Techno unfolds as a masterclass in contemporary techno production, weaving intricate sound design with a profound sense of emotional and physical impact. From the very first track, the extended mix of the title piece, the album demonstrates exceptional cohesion, with each subsequent track smoothly transitioning into the next. The pacing is meticulously calibrated, maintaining an unrelenting energy while providing enough dynamic variation to sustain listener engagement across its duration. The musical diversity shines through in collaborations with artists like Armin van Buuren, Vini Vici, and Gregor Tresher, each adding their own textures and expanding the harmonic palette without breaking the album’s unified sonic identity. Technically, the production is immaculate. The rhythmic structures are executed with surgical precision, ensuring consistent groove elements that underpin the melodic hooks and harmonic progressions. Tracks like “Vicious Chords” and “Rakete” showcase sophisticated layering techniques, with evolving percussive patterns and carefully modulated synth timbres that enhance spatial depth. The use of effects is both functional and creative, leveraging reverb tails and stereo imaging to generate a fully immersive environment. Dynamic range is handled expertly, with every mix maintaining loudness suitable for club and festival environments while preserving clarity and preventing listener fatigue—a testament to top-tier mastering and technical consistency across the project. Beyond its production prowess, Bigger Than Techno resonates on a physiological and psychological level. Scientific research in music therapy suggests that rhythmic synchronization and repetitive motifs in electronic dance music can enhance mood and reduce stress by stimulating dopamine release and promoting neuroplasticity (Thoma et al., 2013; Chanda & Levitin, 2013). The steady 4/4 beats and hypnotic arpeggios, particularly in tracks like “Hypnosis” and “All Eyes On Me,” are conducive to flow states, making the album ideal for fitness and wellness classes. Studies have shown that music with consistent rhythmic drive can improve exercise performance and endurance (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012), while the meditative aspects of layered techno compositions can foster mindfulness and reduce anxiety (Linnemann et al., 2015). This dual utility positions the album not only as a club-ready experience but also as an enhancer of mental and physical well-being. Furthermore, the emotional resonance of the album is amplified by its creative storytelling through sound design. Even without overt lyrical narratives, tracks like “Hare Ram” and “Gaana Modam” evoke cultural and spiritual motifs, tapping into a global consciousness that heightens the sense of immersion and engagement. Each piece contributes to an overall journey that balances adrenaline-fueled intensity with cathartic release, ensuring high replay value and reinforcing Lilly Palmer’s artistic identity. The project stands as a significant contribution to the techno genre, merging innovation with tradition in a way that captivates both casual listeners and dedicated audiophiles. #PureGold Loveit

Dimitris Kechagias Review: [review top="1"] [item value="10"]Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano - Amazone Project [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano’s Amazone Project is a masterclass in contemporary house music production, delivering a deeply immersive listening experience that excels across all aspects of technical and artistic execution. From the very first track, “Raiz Brasileira (Extended Mix)” featuring Bruno Martini, Carlinhos Brown, and Bruna Magalhães, the duo sets a vibrant and rhythmically layered tone. The track’s intricate percussive elements and rich harmonic progression establish a cohesive soundscape that flows effortlessly into “Du Du Dum (Extended Mix),” maintaining both energy and musicality. Each subsequent composition demonstrates remarkable attention to track transitions and pacing. The extended mixes are meticulously crafted to sustain momentum without feeling repetitive, ensuring that the listener remains fully engaged throughout the journey. The musical diversity and variety on the album is evident in how the duo blends traditional Afro-Latin elements with modern electronic production techniques. Tracks like “Bira (Extended Mix)” with Idd Aziz and “Uyankenteza (Extended Mix)” with Afro Warriors & Toshi highlight the duo’s mastery in fusing authentic world rhythms with contemporary club energy. This diversity is paired with melodic hooks and harmonic sophistication that create instant emotional resonance. In particular, “Good Life (Extended Mix)” with Inner City channels a nostalgic yet refreshing vibe, evoking a sense of euphoria that is both timeless and modern. The rhythm and groove consistency remains impeccable throughout, with basslines and percussion that are both danceable and hypnotic, providing a perfect balance between movement and musicality. From a production quality standpoint, the project demonstrates exceptional sound design and spatial awareness. Every element—from kick drums to atmospheric effects—is carefully sculpted to occupy its own space in the mix, achieving both clarity and fullness. Dynamic range and loudness balance are expertly managed, which is critical for both club play and streaming platforms. The application of effects, reverbs, and delays adds a three-dimensional quality to the music, immersing the listener in a sonic landscape that is both expansive and intimate. Technical consistency and mastering quality are uniformly strong across all tracks, demonstrating a cohesive sonic identity that reinforces the duo’s artistic vision. Conceptually, the Amazone Project tells a compelling musical story, transporting listeners through an emotional and cultural journey that resonates deeply. The energy of the tracks not only ignites dancefloors but also has significant positive effects on mental and physical well-being. Research in music therapy and neuroscience indicates that rhythmic, high-energy music with positive harmonic overtones can reduce stress, enhance mood, and even improve cognitive performance (Thoma et al., 2013; Koelsch, 2010). For fitness and wellness classes, the consistent BPM and powerful grooves of tracks like “Jambole (Extended Mix)” and “Friday Night (Extended Mix)” can improve exercise adherence and intensity by stimulating dopamine and endorphin release (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The music’s immersive atmosphere facilitates a flow state, enhancing both focus and motivation during physical activity or mindfulness routines. The emotional resonance and catchiness of the project ensure high replay value, while its innovation and genre contribution reaffirm Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano’s standing as forward-thinking producers in the house and tribal electronic scene. By integrating global cultural elements with cutting-edge production techniques, the duo not only crafts music tailored for clubs and festivals but also contributes to the broader movement of music as a tool for wellness, community, and emotional upliftment. #PureGold LoveIt [/content]

From the opening track “I’m On Fire” with James French to the closing Stas Underhill and Mozes remixes, the album unfolds as a seamless journey of rhythm, melody, and emotion. Its groove and drive are immediate, with each drop and build-up meticulously engineered to maintain a hypnotic flow, while still delivering high-energy bursts that would electrify any dance floor. Cosmic Gate’s attention to sound design is nothing short of exceptional, with production quality revealing detailed spatial imaging, pristine stereo placement, and tasteful use of reverb and delay effects to add depth without crowding the mix. The BPM consistency and loop potential make the album a DJ’s dream, while the dynamic range and loudness balance ensure that whether played in high-energy festival settings or personal wellness sessions, the music remains clear, powerful, and emotionally engaging. Beyond the technical brilliance, Perspectives carries significant benefits for mental health and wellness. Scientific studies have shown that rhythmic and melodic music in the range of 120–130 BPM can elevate mood, reduce stress, and enhance focus by stimulating dopamine release and promoting neural entrainment (Thoma et al., 2013; Koelsch, 2010). Tracks like “Brave” and “Need A Little Love” are especially uplifting, with soaring vocals and euphoric harmonics that can enhance performance in fitness or yoga classes, promote positive affect, and create a sense of flow. The album’s immersive atmosphere contributes to emotional resonance and encourages mindfulness, which research has linked to decreased anxiety and improved mental well-being (Chanda & Levitin, 2013). The cohesion and storytelling across the album are striking, weaving moments of introspection with bursts of dance floor energy. “Bloom” and “Let It All Out” exemplify the duo’s ability to balance melodic depth with festival-ready impact, demonstrating their skill at crafting music that works both in club settings and for personal listening. The vocal performances, especially from Marlene, Diana Miro, and Christian Burns, add layers of intimacy and lyrical poignancy, enhancing the album’s replay value and emotional connectivity. Cosmic Gate’s Perspectives is not just a collection of tracks; it is a meticulously designed sonic journey that encapsulates peak production techniques, creative originality, and a deeply human emotional core. It is a testament to the duo’s evolution and an album that will resonate in both dance and wellness spaces for years to come. #PureGold Loveit [/content]

From Tokyo’s high-rises to the farthest edges of sound, one figure has spent the last decade bending studio frequencies to her will. Over that time, she’s built nothing less than a sonic solar system, with Rina ‘Rinaly’ Noguchi firmly at its core.
‘Ecliptica’, her debut longform. takes its title cues from the passage of the sun — a rotation where shadow and luminosity are locked in a permanent state of pursuit.
First track through last, that chase musically characterizes the album, cycling between mass and elevation, brightness to grit and synth glare to bass drive ... ‘Ecliptica’s opposing poles are formed by techno and trance, and the artistic yin-yang they develop is one Rinaly both identifies with and channels throughout.
“My life has been a journey through extremes: light and dark, highs and lows, rapture and despair. Techno, with its deep, driving intensity, embodies the darkness, the struggles, and the power of perseverance, while the uplifting melodies of trance, to me, represent light, hope and transcendence. Together, they form the balance I’ve long fought to find myself.
For years, I wrestled with my mental health” Rinally continues, “experiencing both the beauty and the brutality of life. I faced some of my darkest moments and making it through felt like witnessing the dawn after an endless night. This album is more than music; it is my story, my survival, and my way of sharing that passage with others.”
Ranged across ‘Ecliptica’'s cosmos is an all-female cast of vocal fire — a line-up as tonally diverse as it is artistically fearless. Amongst them are Christina Novelli, whose centring voice ignites recent single 'Set A Fire,' and trance legend Julie Thompson, who dazzles on the airborne 'Running.' Also joining Rina’s constellation are Cari, Clara Yates, Brieanna Grace, and (flanked by H4lo) Linnea Schossow, each of whom bring their signature inflexions, while Donna Tella stretches ‘Ecliptica’s spectrum all the way through to drum & bass.
Rinaly concludes: “I am deeply honoured to have the opportunity to share this with the world, and I especially long to inspire and empower other women and producers. No matter what you’re facing, you are strong enough to push through. That, at its heart, is the essence of this album.”
‘Ecliptica’, the future-coded first LP from Rinaly is available now through all the best streaming and sales channels HERE.
Tracklist: 01. Rinaly - Ecliptica (Intro) 02. Rinaly & Clara Yates - Oh Fragile Girl (Original Mix) 03. Rinaly & Brieanna Grace - Anywhere (Original Mix) 04. Rinaly & Cari - Echo (Original Mix) 05. [content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]‘Rinaly’s debut album Ecliptica is a luminous journey across the sonic cosmos, where the interplay of shadow and light mirrors the celestial path of the sun. The opening track, “Ecliptica (Intro),” sets the tone with a delicate swell of ethereal pads and shimmering textures, immediately drawing the listener into the album’s atmospheric embrace. “Oh Fragile Girl,” featuring Clara Yates, follows with tender vocals and a melodic trance progression that feels both intimate and expansive, offering a heartfelt entry into Rinaly’s emotional world. “Anywhere,” with Brieanna Grace, continues the voyage with an uplifting melody that soars effortlessly, its vocal line carrying a sense of boundless hope. “Echo,” featuring Cari, shifts into more introspective tones, the production emphasizing reflective harmonies and subtle rhythmic layers that resonate deeply. The energy rises with “Set A Fire,” where Christina Novelli’s powerhouse voice ignites the track, delivering a trance anthem brimming with passion and drive. Midway through, “Sidereal” and “Ignite” showcase Rinaly’s skill in crafting instrumental narratives—both tracks pulsate with kinetic energy and cosmic textures, bridging the intimate vocal-led moments with pure dancefloor momentum. “Running,” with Julie Thompson, lifts the experience higher still, her celestial delivery perfectly aligned with the track’s airborne synth lines, evoking a feeling of limitless ascent. The final act of the album expands the soundscape further. “Higher Dimension” and “Unleash” bring a cinematic scope to the journey, layering euphoric melodies over driving rhythms that feel like a sprint through the stars. “Too High To Fall,” with Linnea Schossow and H4lo, reaches emotional heights through striking vocal harmonies and a glowing, festival-ready arrangement. Closing with “Home (DnB Mix),” featuring Donna Tella, Rinaly concludes her solar voyage on an unexpected yet satisfying note, offering a burst of drum & bass energy that completes the ecliptic cycle with adventurous flair. Across its 12 tracks, Ecliptica maintains flawless cohesion and flow, balancing melodic hooks with rhythmic vitality and showcasing Rinaly’s artistic identity. The album is a perfectly executed fusion of emotional resonance, production mastery, and forward-thinking trance innovation, making it both a personal journey and a club-ready triumph. #PureGold Love It [/content]
Acclaimed French DJ and producer Joachim Pastor, revered for charting his own course, presents his new album, PHANTOMGRID. Spanning 10 tracks, the project unfolds as a both sonic and visual journey, exploring themes of memory, reality and perception, fusing experimental electronic sounds with melodic and drum-and-bass elements and setting the stage for Pastor’s next chapter as an artist.
At its core, PHANTOMGRID questions the world as an unseen grid – an underlying framework humanity can only partially grasp. With the album, Joachim Pastor took a solitary, instinct-driven approach, composing much of the music mentally before bringing it to life in the studio. Inspired by his research into the Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe (CTMU), the album explores the tension between feeling, knowledge, and the unseen. This research evolved into a study of contrasts – organic versus machine, intuition versus precision, human versus technology – with AI used as a deliberate tool to enhance the product while preserving the music’s raw emotional core.
“I’ve never quite fit within their underground scene, nor the commercial wave of melodic techno that has defined the past decade,” says Joachim Pastor. “Throughout my career, and with PHANTOMGRID specifically, I’ve carved out a distinctive body of work as response to my commitment to stripping music back to its core.”
PHANTOMGRID delivers an atmospheric and cinematic listening experience, featuring tracks like ‘Synthetic Recall’, which marks the closure of the cycle of reflection, before going into the album’s closing track ‘Walk With Me’, hinting at the continuation of Joachim’s story. The lead single ‘Happy Now?’ showcases a warmer, more introspective side of Pastor, highlighting the emotional depth at the heart of his artistry and sharing the artistic vision of 88Birds aka Diana Miro – the sole voice Joachim chose to preserve in its most natural form.
The album’s visual identity, from each single to the final artwork, came together using Pastor’s custom-built Stable Diffusion server. After years of experimenting with AI-generated visuals, he developed a personalized library and interface to suit his creative vision. Each image reflects the album’s internal logic, created with the same mindset of pushing technological boundaries while remaining emotionally grounded. His brand-new live show has evolved in parallel, with Pastor designing custom MIDI controllers and dedicated Ableton plugins to expand his performance capabilities.
Pastor says, “The setup is more hands-on and expressive, functioning like an instrument rather than a traditional computer rig. Though technically demanding, it enables a deeper, more immediate connection between the music and the audience.”
The album will be paired with a documentary offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Pastor’s creative process.
Dimitris Kechagias Review: [review top="1"] [item value="10"]Joachim Pastor - PHANTOMGRID[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]PHANTOMGRID is a cinematic and meticulously crafted album that pushes the boundaries of modern electronic music while maintaining an intimate, emotional core. Below is a track-by-track breakdown exploring the technical arrangements, production techniques, and sonic design choices that make this work stand out. 1. TAKE AWAY THE PAIN, The album opens with a brooding soundscape layered with evolving synth pads and subtle percussive textures. Pastor employs sidechained ambient elements to create a pulsing undercurrent, while the low-end design is warm yet restrained. The track’s arrangement gradually introduces filtered arpeggiators, building tension without relying on heavy drums, a signature of his cinematic approach. 2. FIELD OF SNAKES This track demonstrates intricate sound design, using granular processing on metallic hits and reverberated plucks to reflect its serpentine theme. The stereo field is exceptionally wide, with automated panning giving the impression of movement and unpredictability. Percussion is sparse but impactful, emphasizing dynamic range over density. 3. CARRY ON, A brighter and more melodic track, “Carry On” uses layered synth leads and carefully modulated pads to create emotional resonance. Subtle transient shaping on the kicks and snares ensures clarity, while the vocal fragments are processed with formant shifting and delay feedback to blend into the instrumental texture. This track reflects Pastor’s precision in balancing electronic and organic elements. 4. Happy Now? The lead single is both technically minimal and emotionally rich. Pastor keeps the production clean, allowing Diana Miro’s voice to take center stage. The vocal recording is preserved with minimal post-processing, supported by soft reverb and light compression. The instrumentation features low-intensity rhythmic elements and evolving keys, demonstrating a “less is more” philosophy that highlights the introspective theme. 5. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, This track explores rhythmic complexity, using syncopated drum programming and multi-layered percussive loops. Sidechain compression between the bass and kick creates a strong groove, while parallel processing on the synth layers gives depth without muddying the mix. The middle section includes glitch-style effects, likely achieved with real-time buffer manipulation or Max for Live tools. 6. NUMBNESS I CANNOT BEAR, An emotionally heavy piece, this track leans on low-frequency drones and subtle orchestral samples processed through convolution reverb. Dynamic swells and filter automation create a feeling of gradual suffocation, aligning with the title. The use of distortion on the sub-bass is controlled and intentional, adding tension without overwhelming the listener. 7. SEEKING SOUL, Built around a hypnotic rhythmic motif, the production here favors evolving textures and mid-range harmonics. Layered delays and carefully controlled reverb tails give the track a floating, ethereal quality. The arrangement feels like a journey, with effective use of automation to keep the listener engaged across its length. 8. SYNTHETIC RECALL, As the penultimate track, “Synthetic Recall” serves as the reflective closure of the album’s narrative arc. Technically, it showcases expert sequencing, with arpeggiators and pads that interlock harmonically. The mix is spacious, with high-frequency elements gently rolling off to create a soft, cinematic fade. The transition into the final track is seamless, demonstrating careful mastering decisions. 9. WALK WITH ME, The album concludes on a contemplative note. The production is stripped back, with a soft piano layer and minimal percussion. Ambient field recordings, likely recorded and processed in Pastor’s custom sound design setup, add an intimate human touch. The track’s mastering leaves generous headroom, allowing the final fade to feel natural and immersive. PHANTOMGRID is a masterclass in balancing emotional intent with cutting-edge production. From his use of custom MIDI controllers and Ableton plugins to the integration of AI-generated visuals, Pastor’s work is as much a technical achievement as it is a heartfelt narrative. The album’s sound design and mixing reflect years of refinement, delivering an immersive listening experience that rewards both casual enjoyment and analytical study. #PureGold Love IT[/content]

About Joachim Pastor
A pillar of the French melodic techno scene, Joachim Pastor first emerged as part of the Hungry Music collective alongside NTO and Worakls. Viewing music as timeless and drawing inspiration from artists like Daft Punk, Sonata Arctica, and Jean-Michel Jarre, he developed a fascination for sound textures and the endless possibilities offered by machines. He explores them, shapes them, and deconstructs them.
Over time, Joachim has become a renowned electronic music producer, known for a distinctive artistic signature: classical, orchestral, and cinematic in his harmonic structures, yet sharp and direct in his melodies. A true perfectionist with a keen eye for detail, he crafts his sound through recognizable arpeggios and cultivates a unique style : hypnotic, elegant, and tinged with nostalgia.
In 2020, he signed with electronic music powerhouse Armada Music and released his debut album Greater Message, a project blending pop influences with prominent vocal features.
The following year, Joachim dropped a series of singles and remixes (notably Season, produced by NTO and French79, and reimagined by Joachim along with Joris Delacroix, Romain Garcia, and Stereoclip). That same year, he also composed the original soundtrack for the documentary The Final Season, chronicling the final racing season of world rally champion Sébastien Ogier. Titled The Winning Line, the score captures the emotional whirlwind of an athlete’s ultimate quest ; filled with suspense, doubt, triumph, and fulfillment.
In 2023, Joachim Pastor released Adrenogate, a four-track EP made for festivals. It reveals a darker, more intense side of the artist, a deliberate contrast to the nostalgic and emotive identity he is known for. He followed it up with Blank Page, an intimate track exploring memory and its degeneration.
Today, Joachim opens a bold new chapter: one that delves into the duality between man and machine, challenging the very foundations of existence. With an insatiable mind and an almost obsessive discipline, the artist embarks on a digital journey ; experimenting with artificial intelligence not only to understand and push its limits, but to merge with it completely. A conscious artistic exploration where technology doesn't replace emotion, but elevates it.
He unveils Phantomgrid in early 2025, followed by Take Away the Pain and Field of Snakes, which hint at a more ambitious project: a new album set to be released at the end of the year.
Today, Joachim Pastor's music reaches over one million monthly listeners on streaming platforms, and his live shows take him across the globe, including Dour, Tomorrowland, Paleo, Solidays, Delta Festival, and more.

Opening with Marsh’s rework of Sweetest Thing, the remix immediately captivates with its polished sound design. Marsh preserves the soul of the original by keeping the ethereal vocal sample front and center, while surrounding it with a lush bed of warm pads and finely textured melodic synths. The track’s bouncing lead is accentuated by sidechained bass swells and intricately filtered percussion, lending a hypnotic groove perfect for late-night sets. Fans of Jody will appreciate how Marsh’s production mirrors the emotional resonance of the original, while elevating it with his signature Anjunadeep sparkle. The energy pivots with Denham Audio’s drum & bass interpretation of The Sky Below featuring ALLKNIGHT. Here, rolling breakbeats and a tightly engineered sub-bass form the rhythmic backbone. The producer skillfully manipulates the vocal stems, weaving in and out of half-time breakdowns and tense build-ups, demonstrating a nuanced command of both atmospheric layering and high-tempo dynamics. The remix’s shimmering pads and subtle reverb tails evoke the cinematic depth often found in Jody’s work, making it a thrilling yet cohesive addition for fans who enjoy his more adventurous side. Blake.08’s reimagining of Rain (feat. Sian Evans) provides a final fresh perspective. This remix is built around a staccato, syncopated bassline that perfectly complements Sian Evans’ emotive delivery. Intertwining arpeggiated synths and delicate percussive elements create a sense of forward motion, while carefully balanced reverb and stereo imaging give the track a polished, immersive quality. Listeners drawn to Jody’s knack for blending melancholy with euphoria will find Blake.08’s treatment particularly satisfying. Overall, Welcome To My World (Remixed) not only pays homage to the emotive core of Jody Wisternoff’s originals but also highlights the technical excellence and sonic storytelling of each contributing producer. For longtime fans, these remixes are a gift—each one offering fresh dance floor energy while keeping the heart of Jody’s world intact. Crisp hi-hats and a warm bassline glide underneath harmonic plucks, while the vocals shine in the breakdown, building emotional tension before the satisfying drop. 3. Control (Original Mix) An instrumental track that picks up the energy with a tech-infused trance approach. Tight kick and rolling bass patterns are layered with percussive synth stabs. Stereo panning and filtered sweeps create motion, making this a peak-time weapon. 4. Eivissa (Original Mix): Another instrumental, “Eivissa” radiates sun-soaked Balearic vibes. Wide-open pads and subtle guitar-inspired plucks create a serene atmosphere, emphasizing clarity and warmth. 5. Layered arpeggios, euphoric chords, and a tight low end show Denton’s precision in crafting club-ready euphoria. 6. We Are One featuring Lyd14 (Original Mix) Lyd14’s soaring vocals turn this track into a hands-in-the-air anthem. Her performance is processed with pristine clarity, while side-chained pads cushion the melody and heighten the emotional impact. This is the album’s undeniable peak of vocal-driven trance. 7. Around in Circles (Original Mix) A darker, tech-trance instrumental with syncopated basslines and subtle acid elements. Its hypnotic drive and clean arrangement make it a strong transitional piece. 8. All I Need (Original Mix): A vocal-led progressive track with heartfelt delivery from an uncredited vocalist. The soft piano motifs and evolving pads give space for the emotive lyrics to resonate, making it a strong crossover piece for radio and home listening. 9. Losing Faith with Linnea Schossow & H4lo (Original Mix): This collaboration brings a melancholic yet powerful energy, with Linnea Schossow and H4lo’s emotive vocals intertwining across the cinematic breakdown. Their harmonies build tension that surges into a euphoric finale, perfectly supported by Denton’s layered supersaws and punchy snares. 10. Tripod (Original Mix): A purely instrumental DJ tool, “Tripod” is rhythmic and driving, with techy percussive details and a minimalistic lead for seamless layering in live sets. 11. Chime (Original Mix) An instrumental leaning into melodic trance, “Chime” features bell-like tones and ethereal pads. Its meticulous sound design and transient clarity make it sparkle even without vocals. 12. The Vault (Original Mix): A hard trance instrumental at 144 BPM, “The Vault” is all about raw energy, rolling basslines, and slicing synths. Its punchy kick and polished mastering highlight Denton’s technical prowess. 13. ‘Elements Of Africa’ distills the continent’s soul into nine evocative Afro-electronic tracks inspired by the core values of African identity.
Globally celebrated South African DJ and producer THEMBA today proudly unveiled his highly anticipated second studio album, ‘Elements Of Africa’, out now on Armada Music. A deeply personal body of work that pays tribute to his home continent, ‘Elements Of Africa’ sees THEMBA venture into a broader Afro-electronic sound—blending intricate arrangements, diverse instrumentation, and cross-cultural vocal textures.
Rooted in his upbringing on the outskirts of Johannesburg, and crafted primarily in South Africa with further development while touring the globe, ‘Elements Of Africa’ distills the soul of a continent into nine meticulously composed tracks. Each is a personal interpretation by THEMBA of a core facet of African identity—celebrating the human spirit, humility and strength, the power of love, teamwork, wisdom, hope and faith, creativity, God’s presence, and respect.
“The concept of ‘elements’ is something I’ve deeply connected with throughout the making of this album,” says THEMBA. “Each track is linked to a value or emotion that to me makes up the African spirit. For me, those “elements” can be translated into rhythms, tones, and textures that best reflect that element—so I let that guide the creative process. Africa is not just a place—it’s a feeling, a rhythm, and above all, a way of being.”
Sonically, ‘Elements Of Africa’ spans several diverse layers of the Afro-electronic spectrum—from melodic, piano-led tracks such as ‘Akasha’ (feat. Double Touch) and ‘Vuthelani’ with Benchek (feat. Bukeka), to powerful dancefloor anthems such as ‘Cantando’ (feat. Nicinha) and ‘Kumbuka’ (with IDQ) that weave in vocal storytelling in multiple South African languages—including Zulu and Xhosa. Rich in collaboration, the album sees THEMBA work alongside vocalists, producers, and instrumentalists from across the African continent and beyond.
THEMBA adds: "This album is filled with voices that bring spiritual depth, poetry, and ancestral resonance. Some are close collaborators; others are artists I’ve long admired. Each brought their own essence to the music. In creating it, I wanted to explore more corners of Afro-electronic, pushing into melodic and experimental spaces.”

The album celebrates four decades of house music in a powerful tribute to Smooth’s journey from the underground clubs of Chicago to international acclaim
Legendary house music producer Joe Smooth today released ‘We Shall Overcome’, his first album in over 30 years. Arriving at a poignant moment, the release stands as a deeply personal reflection on his 40-year journey in house music, celebrating the genre’s rich soundscape and the many voices that have shaped his path.
A self-taught musician and DJ since his early teens, Smooth quickly emerged as a foundational force in Chicago’s house music scene. By age 20, he was the head DJ at the iconic Smart Bar and collaborating with genre frontrunners such as Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, and Lil Louis, and producing for artists including Prince and The Art of Noise. In 1983, Smooth co-produced ‘Jack Trax’, one of the earlier house records, featuring ‘Time to Jack’ – the first record in dance music to use the terms “Jack” and “House” and a track widely seen as a cornerstone of house music’s first wave. Just four years later, his seminal track ‘Promised Land’ became a global anthem.
Now, with ‘We Shall Overcome’, Smooth presents a sonic time capsule that blends new compositions with remastered classics, offering a reflective yet progressive journey through the genre’s evolution, told through the eyes of one of its founding pioneers.
Lead single ‘Overcome’, featuring iconic house music vocalist Chuck Roberts alongside Angie Brown and Mr. Root, pays homage to Roberts with a tribute that ensures his voice continues to echo across the scene for decades to come. The album also includes contributions from artists who have reinterpreted Promised Land, including Solomun and Lee Foss, bridging generations of house music and connecting the genre’s roots to today’s global dance culture.
"We Shall Overcome is about more than music: it’s a message," says Joe Smooth. "At a time when the world feels divided, house music continues to bring people together. This album is a celebration of that energy, and of the community that’s carried this culture forward."
As the genre continues to expand and evolve, Smooth emphasizes the need to preserve its roots. “We need to get back to that feeling – house is a feeling. DJs and producers should take more risks and be more intentional with what they create and play. The new generation is hungry for meaning, and this music has always been the soundtrack to real life.”
With ‘We Shall Overcome’, Joe Smooth reaffirms his role not just as a pioneer, but as an utmost champion of house music’s past, present, and future, reminding listeners of its power to uplift, inspire, and unite.

"Black Sun Rising" stands out with its complex rhythmic structures. "Our Houze" with George Clinton seamlessly infuses funk elements into house grooves through live bass recordings, processed with envelope filters and analog saturation, creating a groovy, organic feel. "Still Loving You" featuring Porcelain uses atmospheric pads, granular synthesis, and meticulous automation to add emotional depth, enhancing the dynamic flow of the album. The second disc is anchored by multiple renditions of the iconic "Promised Land." The Solomun Remix introduces a darker, club-friendly vibe achieved through deep sub-bass synthesis, minimalist drum patterns, and extensive use of reverb and delay effects to create a haunting atmosphere. The low-pass filter automation adds a dynamic progression, making the track evolve seamlessly over time. The collaboration with Lee Foss offers a fresh, modern twist with elements of tech-house. Here, sidechain ducking, modular synthesis, and glitch effects are employed to add texture and depth, while maintaining the soulful essence of the original. The intricate drum programming with off-beat hi-hats and syncopated claps adds a contemporary flair, pushing the rhythmic boundaries. We Shall Overcome is a masterclass in blending soulful house with contemporary electronic elements. Joe Smooth’s production process reflects a deep understanding of both analog warmth and digital precision. Each track is meticulously crafted using advanced mixing and mastering techniques—parallel compression, multi-band EQ, and stereo widening—to create a cohesive, inspiring journey.
