Exolight: It’s always hard to choose from so many great tracks. I think the track I like the most this year is Digital Drift - You Don’t Mind. It’s a very solid production with amazing vocals. I remember listening to this one for the first time when I was in Greece earlier this year. Sitting on the beach and listening to this track was just amazing.
Another track that caught my attention this year is Lostly - Freedom of Movement—this is exactly the type of uplifting trance I like: simple and super melodic.
1-Best self-produced/personal tracks of 2024
b)Explain your choices for the best 2024 personal productions. Were they due to challenges, crowd reactions, or success on download shops/streaming services?
Exolight: I think it’s Change the Horizon with Suncatcher and Ana Criado! Although I really like all of my productions this year, as I focused on quality rather than quantity. I have always wanted to collaborate with Ana Criado because she is my favorite vocalist, and this year it finally happened. I had the privilege of playing the track at Untold Festival, and the reaction was wild—even from backstage, haha. One of the DJs actually asked me and Suncatcher while we were playing if he could do a remix of the track. So stay tuned—you might hear a remix of it in the future!
2) Best Artist of 2024 (DJ & Producer)

Exolight: It’s hard to pick just one artist, to be honest, but I’ll mention two of my favorites this year.
One is Lostly—I only discovered his music this year, and I think it’s amazing. His productions are very clean and powerful.
The other artist would be Farius. His music is so good, and his album this year is just amazing.
3-a) Best Remixes of 2024

Exolight: My favorite remix this year is definitely the one made by Numind for my track with Suncatcher, On The Run. While we are really proud of our original version, I think the guys from Numind took the track to another level. I was surprised to receive such amazing reactions to the remix, including support from Armin van Buuren on A State of Trance (ASOT) and Tomorrowland’s One World Radio show.
3-b) Your best self-produced remix of 2024
Explain why you believe your 2024 remix is your best work. Include any technical challenges or unique difficulties you faced during production.
Exolight: I didn’t release any remixes this year, although I did finish one. It probably won’t ever be released—but who knows? I’m currently working with Suncatcher to remix a beautiful vocal track for Amsterdam Trance. I can’t share any details about the track just yet, but stay tuned!

Exolight: For me, Daniel Kandi is one of the best remixers ever. Ruben de Ronde & Farius & David Frank - Radiant (Daniel Kandi Bangin' Mix) is one of my favorite tracks this year. I think Kandi did an incredible job remixing this amazing track.
Also, Marsh created a stunning remix of Estiva - Via Infinita. Another masterpiece this year! Or maybe it was from last year? I can’t remember exactly.
4) Best New Talent of 2024 (DJ or Producer):
Explain your award selection in detail. Do you personally know or collaborate with the artist?
Exolight: I would say my friend David Jovian. He had his first release this year, Embrace, which was a collaboration we did together. He has more tracks coming in the near future, so make sure to follow his music. He’s a very talented lad, and he reminds me of myself when I first started my musical career.
5-a) Best Electronic Dance Music Album of 2024:

Exolight: I have two choices here: Digital Drift - Droids—a really good album with beautiful tracks.
You Don’t Mind is one of my favorite tracks this year. My second choice would be Farius - Synapse. This album is simply beautiful. I’ve always loved albums that tell a story, and this one really feels like it does so exceptionally well.
5-b) Best Electronic Dance Music Compilation of 2024. Please elaborate on the criteria used to select this compilation. Are the mixing processes of the tracks high quality and proficient? Is the track listing imaginative and creative?
Exolight: I think In Search of Sunrise is the pick for this year. I've been listening to this compilation series since 2003, and I still think it's a solid one. The Super8 & Tab CD is my favorite—it’s like a journey, blending some great old tracks with new and modern productions.
5-c:Best artwork of 2024: singles or albums.
Exolight: I really don’t look at the artworks that much haha. I only listen to the music.
6) Best Electronic Dance Music Label of 2024
Explain your choice. What appeals to you about this label? Is it the high-quality tracks, the impressive roster of notable artists, or something else?
Exolight: I think Dan Stone’s Argento is the pick for me this year. The label consistently delivers solid productions—tune after tune after tune.
7)Best music composition software and hardware of 2024. Explain your selection.
Exolight: FL Studio for life. I don’t say it’s the best but it’s the perfect one for me.
8-a) Your Best Personal DJ Gig of 2024:
Exolight: Definitely the one I had with Suncatcher in Singapore earlier in May. It was my first gig outside of Europe, and it exceeded all our expectations. The crowd was absolutely amazing, and we honestly didn’t realize we had so many fans and friends in Singapore. They were vibing with our tracks in a way that left us speechless. Just wow. I want to thank Daniel, Brandon, Joshua, Haszalii, and the entire Singapore crew for all the support and for the amazing memories, and of course for making this possible.
8-b) Best DJ set from another DJ (real or online) of 2024. Explain why you think it’s the strongest. Highlight exceptional mixing, track selection, and overall mix development.
Exolight: I think Ahmed Romel's set at Untold Festival is my favorite. I love his music so much—it’s very melodic and emotional, and I believe he delivered an amazing set at Untold. His tracks resonate deeply with my style, and his mix was absolutely on point.

Exolight: Don’t overlayer your leads and basslines. Keep it simple!

Lostly: Most definitely my release of ‘Saudade’ on Subculture.
Performing at Luminosity Beach festival.
Performing to the beautiful people in Bangkok from Trance Lovers Thailand.

1) Best of 2022 personal productions with short comment about them:
Lostly: My release called ‘Saudade’ on Subculture. After a long break of producing music, I made a return in 2022 with this release. It’s a very special song for me on so many levels.
2) YOUR Best Remix which you have produced of 2022 with short comment?
Lostly: I did a remix for Factor B which I produced this year after he visited me in Germany for a few weeks. It was a special time as we both had gone through some personal stuff in our lives. We used this time to really hone in producing music together, as well as just supporting one another. The remix should be coming out in 2023.
3) Best electronic dance music album of 2022 with short comment:
Lostly: I have been enjoying a lot of electronic music in general not necessarily dance music, so my answer here would be Burial - Streetlands EP.
It’s been on repeat for me non stop this year. It features ‘3 chapters’ of ambient works. Incredible stuff.
4) Best online social media of 2022 with short comment:
Lostly: Seeing as this question may not relate to music I will say ‘The Bombhole’ it’s a group of snowboarders with a YouTube channel, doing incredible inspiring conversations with athletes and people in the industry.
5) Best social media response you may have received about your music or your DJ performance of 2022:
Lostly: Definitely for my track ‘Saudade’ the response has been amazing.
6) Best music composition software of 2022 with short comment:
Lostly: Ableton has been at the heart of my compositions. They continue making incredible software always keeping me in that ‘flow state’.
7)Best club event /festival/music conference of 2022 with short comment:
Lostly: I went to the Superbooth music conference this year in Berlin which was a lot of fun. Did some live showcasing for Native Instruments, iZotope and Plugin Alliance.
8) Your Best personal DJ Gig & DJ performance of 2022 with short comment:
Lostly: Bangkok with the Trance Lovers Thailand crew. The event took place at Onyx which is an amazing venue.
9) Best radio show/podcast/twitch stream or Vlog(video blog) of 2022 with short comment. It can be yours or from other artists you respect:
Lostly: Always enjoy Solarstone’s radio shows!
10) Best production or DJ equipment (a)software & (b) hardware) of 2022 with short comment:
Lostly: Ableton Push, it’s an incredible piece of hardware that sits in the center of my studio. It still continues being some of the best gear for me this year.
11) Best technical tips that you learnt of 2022 in relation to your DJing or music productions:
Lostly: Get rid of all the clutter in the studio, keep it simple, one or two instruments, focus on writing rather than gear.
12) Best piece of personal or music business' advice you got in relation to your career of 2022 and has helped you to progress even further:
Lostly: Just keep focus on what feels good for you, then continue doing that.
13)Best hobby or non music related activity of 2022.
Lostly: Snowboarding! I got into it this year and it’s been my absolute favourite thing to do, it’s a lifestyle for me now, not just a hobby.
14) Best ever electronic dance music track(s) of all times with short comment?
Lostly: That’s way too difficult to answer, it changes every day. Today as I am typing this, it’s probably William Orbit’s ‘Ogive’
Dimitris: In which TV series, film or advert would you like to experience your track being used? Which track was the best placed on films/TV series/advert/official aftermovie of a festival from another artist?
Lostly: Actually I released music for a series called ‘Brixton’ under my ‘AB85’ alias this year. It features long format pieces I composed on a Moog Modular system.
Dimitris: During 2022 we experienced many tracks that were hybrids of music styles & genres. Do believe that music genres or styles are still relevant today?
Lostly: It’s just electronic music in the end isn’t it? I’m not too phased with the genre wars or whatever. It does help find music easier though when searching, but that’s about as much as I look into it.
Dimitris: Do you have any concrete plans for 2023 regarding future releases, tracks, albums, collaborations, DJ gigs? Please provide us the juicy details.
Lostly: Yes! Heading back to the US early in 2023 for a tour and just in general being back on the road more since I took a break in 2020 for two years.
Also new releases planned for 2023, one of which I am super excited about coming out on FSOE with vocalist Jordan Grace who featured on tracks with Nicky Romero, Armin van Buuren etc.
Dimitris: Your message & wishes for 2023.
Lostly: It feels good making a return to Lostly after a two year break. I used the time to explore different avenues of sound and learned so much along the way, which will now be fused into what I do musically with Lostly in 2023.

Autumn… and as Pure Trance’s datebook runs, the end of its seventh year as a scene force. This, like the six before it, comes marked in the time honoured way through ‘Solarstone Presents Pure Trance’.
“From within” is where the architect-absolute of the movement, Rich Solarstone believes every Pure Trance-worthy track begins. “When you’re compiling these albums, you know within the first 90 listening-seconds, he says, whether it’s a producer pushing the physical or metaphoric buttons. Or, if it’s a musician truly making music that comes from within”. It’s the acid test each of 50 tracks on ‘Pure Trance VII’ have taken and passed.
Divine intervention perhaps, but latterly, with every 365 that goes by another two new Pure Trance proponents rise to co-mixing prominence, reckoning #7 being no exception. That said, the argument could be made that Kristina Sky’s been in contention far longer. Well-established darling of the US West Coast’s trance scene, she brings 15+ years expertise to her mix. Lostly however is the ne-plus-ultra of the above. Only 12 months ago a ‘one-of-many’, through an unstinting gig & music-making stream, the last 365’s seen Andre Frauenstein’s visibility rise to compilation mixing levels.
Naturally Pure Trance lives and breathes through its ability to discover and supply you with the very finest new audio from the freshest talent. As ever then, don’t expect a run of fare from the mainstream’s usual suspects. For every BT, you’re going to find a Dark Matter, for every Matt Darey, a Vadim Zhukov, or for every Scott Bond, an Everlight, a Sam Mitcham, an Astrosphere, etc, etc. Naturally, there’ is an abundance of newness from Lostly and Solarstone’s studios too, and even the usually DJ-booth-bound Kristina has headed into the studio for the album’s gleaming.
So, strap in, sign off those safety waivers and buckle up your dancefloor-pounding boots: Pure Trance is heading to seventh heaven!!!
In it’s now destined manner, 2018’s ‘Solarstone Presents Pure Trance’ follows the natural arc of a flawless clubbing night. Someone who’s blazed the opening set trail many times for Solarstone, Kristina Sky’s instincts couldn’t be sharper. Of her 20-strong track set, no less than 16 are drawn from the ranks of Pure Trance Recordings latest & up-comers. Frontend of that train, you’ll find producers like Mike Saint-Jules, Elfsong and Revolution 9 delivering purity in the form of ‘Parachuting’, ‘Crenshinibon’ and ‘Awakening’. Kristina’s Resurrection Mashup of BT vs. Attila Syah ‘Journey To Gravity’ marks the midpoint, while (respectively) New Ordinance, Shacada and Tim Verkruissen bring ‘calm-before-the-storm’ moments ‘Beyond Gravity’, ‘Sunset’ & ‘Radiant’. Carrying her set to its conclusion, she works in the Blizzard’s remix of ‘Like A Waterfall’, Solar Movement (aka Activa)’s newie ‘Where We Dream’ and her own latest stunner (alongside Roger Shah), ‘Ocean Flame’.
Remarking on her participation in the album, Kristina said: “I’m truly honoured to have been invited by Rich to contribute to ‘Pure Trance Vol. 7’. Solarstone’s music was a huge inspiration to me early on, well before I started DJing, and I’ve been so impressed and proud to watch him grow the Pure Trance movement over the years. He’s been a great friend and mentor, so to be able to mix this compilation with him has - hands down - been one of the biggest highlights of my career. I hope you all enjoy the music… and Vive la Trance!”
Solarstone catches the closing flow of Kristina’s disc perfectly and with his own Reconstruction mix of Vadim Zhukov’s ‘Heart Connected’ puts the release onto its main-set footing. Tracks like Dark Matter’s ‘When Faith Fades’, ‘False Memory’ from Finland’s Allende and his Pure Mix bring-back of Pink Bomb’s underground classic ‘Indica’ set the mercury rising. Neil Bamford rewire of ReOrder’s ‘Beyond Time’, Astrosphere (aka Driftmoon & Robert Nickson)’s ‘What Lies Between The Stars’, and Mr. Nickson’s remix of Solarstone’ ‘Motif’ each further its ascendance. That only leaves the likes of ‘Something Out Of Nothing’ from Bryan Kearney, Sam Mitcham’s title-apt ‘Whopper’ and Craig Connelly’s revision of Rich’s own epic ‘Jewel’ to shatter disc 2’s thermometer.
Of his co-mix picks for album #7, Rich said: “I’m delighted to have Kristina and Andre joining me this year. I first met Kristina at my Circus L.A debut some 15 years age. We remained friends ever since & I can’t overstate how much she has done for trance in the USA. I chose Andre aka Lostly for this year’s Disc 3 after he played for us in Thailand at the Unkonscious Festival. His energy blew me away, as did his exacting ‘pünktlichkeit’ during the compilation progress, which was absolute professionalism”.
“Lostly currently reigns supreme”; “better with every track and remix”; “every release finds the net”; “yet more brilliance from Lostly” - just some of the plaudits that DJ Mag alone have placed at the German’s door of late. Whilst Andre Frauenstein’s enjoys an all-times-of-the-night DJing ability, for ‘Pure Trance VII’ he’s handling ‘the final set’. He wastes zero time in weighing in with recent voltage from Simon Bostock, Everlight, Sneijder, Liam Wilson, Indecent Noise and others. A man who always has a healthy resource of his own music to work with, he intermixes his disc with his own studio fare. Katherine Amy pairing ‘Forever’, Factor B union ‘Strandloper’ and (in solo-mode) ‘Reflection’ all land early craters. Latterly meanwhile, Scott Bond & Charlie Walker collab ‘Tides’, his own ‘Distant Shores’, and Allen Watts remix’s of ‘Trans Karoo’ likewise prevail.
Having compiled and mixed his disc, Lostly commented: “I wanted to find the right balance between showcasing a number of different artists while still keeping that Lostly sound. By approaching a number of artists to do collaborations, I felt it would be a great solution in yielding as many originals for the album as possible. Not only did I find myself growing personally as an artist but I also found it interesting working with others and seeing their workflow. Alongside these collaborations are originals by other artists of which I enjoy listening to as well as solo album-exclusive originals of mine, which have become near and dear to me”.
