Trance Review: Armin van Buuren and KI/KI Unveil Debut Collaboration: ‘Put Your Bassline’ out on Armada Music

This single serves as the official anthem of AMF and embodies the driving force behind AMF’s II=I concept, uniting Armin van Buuren’s iconic trance energy with KI/KI’s cutting-edge underground sound for an unforgettable mainstage experience.

AMF has announced its official anthem for 2025: ‘Put Your Bassline’, a debut collaboration between Armin van Buuren and KI/KI. The track will be released on October 24, one day before the pair’s back-to-back performance at AMF, in collaboration with 750 Years of Amsterdam in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. ‘Put Your Bassline’ is the first official AMF anthem co-produced by two headliners.

The track combines Armin van Buuren’s trance influences with KI/KI’s underground sound, reflecting the contrast that defines this year’s II=I performance. Together, the two artists explore the connection between their different musical backgrounds and approaches to electronic music. Their first B2B took place two years ago during ADE, and this year they’re reuniting for the II=I concept, with their new track serving as the official anthem.
“KI/KI and I come from different styles, but we share a passion for energy and progression” says Armin van Buuren. “Put Your Bassline captures that balance of something driving and direct, but with both our identities in it.”
KI/KI adds: “We wanted to make something that represents both of us without compromise. It’s a straightforward club track built for the dancefloor and for this special AMF moment.”
The collaboration follows the announcement of AMF’s II=I concept returning for ADE 2025. Armin van Buuren and KI/KI will perform together in a back-to-back set for the first time on the AMF mainstage in front of 40.000 people. Their set will be part of a lineup that includes Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, John Summit, KI/KI, Miss Monique, MORTEN, Oliver Heldens, Sara Landry, and Sub Zero Project, with a pre-show performance by AfroSalto. ‘Put Your Bassline’ by Armin van Buuren and KI/KI, a collaboration with slash, KI/KI’s label, will be released on October 24th, on Armada Music across all streaming platforms.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Timed to coincide with their highly anticipated back-to-back set at Amsterdam Music Festival during ADE 2025, “Put Your Bassline” is a masterclass in techno-trance fusion. The track’s dark, driving energy immediately sets the tone for peak-time dancefloor intensity, while the infectious vocal hook and acid-infused drop carve it into memory as a crowd-pleasing weapon. From a technical standpoint, the rhythm and groove are meticulously constructed. A steady 4/4 kick anchors the track, supported by a tightly compressed, rolling bassline that provides both weight and movement. Subtle percussive layers and syncopated hi-hats add propulsion, while the snare builds and micro-fills create a sense of kinetic drive. The BPM remains consistent, ensuring seamless sync for DJs and easy loop integration. The melodic content is equally compelling. KI/KI’s signature acid stabs and resonant filter sweeps intertwine with Armin’s polished trance-inspired pads, forming lush harmonic layers that evolve naturally throughout the arrangement. The mid-track breakdown features a sparse atmospheric bed with reverb-drenched FX, building tension before a massive drop that reintroduces the full spectrum of frequencies with explosive impact. Production quality is undeniably high. Stereo imaging and spatial design give the track a wide, immersive feel, with panning effects and subtle delays filling the periphery of the soundstage. The dynamic range is carefully managed: the breakdown dips to allow the drop to hit with full force, and the loudness balance ensures club systems can push the track without distortion. Every element—from the low-end punch to the crisp top-end—sits perfectly in the mix. The arrangement demonstrates creative originality. The track tells a clear story with its ebb and flow, balancing hypnotic sections with festival-ready peaks. Cue points and looping options are thoughtfully designed for DJs, and the intro/outro structures make it versatile for live set integration. The overall energy flow is relentless, maintaining momentum while giving the crowd moments to reset before the next surge. “Put Your Bassline” succeeds not only on a technical level but also in emotional resonance. Its brooding atmosphere and soaring melodic accents evoke the euphoria of late-night festival sets, and the vocal motif lingers long after the track ends. High replay value, exceptional festival suitability, and undeniable crowd reaction potential make this a standout release that reflects the artistic identities of both Armin van Buuren and KI/KI with precision and flair. #PureGold Love IT [/content]
