NEW album: HALIENE - eclipsed out on Black Hole Recordings
Joy and sorrow often live closer together than one imagines. There is, after all, no ‘becoming’ in life … without first waving a white flag at events beyond our control.

Across her career, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter HALIENE has created a language around the contrast between happiness and heavier hearted times, giving voice to the place where the paths of love, loss, hope and transformation cross. Now, with her sophomore album Eclipsed, she draws on those to create her most personal and expansive body of work yet.

Following Heavenly, her 2022 debut album, Eclipsed finds HALIENE stepping both into new stylistic areas, while also reconnecting with the musical worlds that shaped her beginnings. Across its fifteen tracks, the worlds of trance, melodic bass, cinematic electronica and pop songwriting shift in and out of each another’s shadows. At its heart though, Eclipsed is an album about what happens when that light changes.

Lyrically its songs trace loves, both found and lost, and identities once surrendered but now reclaimed. It’s about the people who carry us through our darkest moments, and the unexpected perspectives that can emerge from experiences we’d never have chosen ourselves. Rather than treating darkness as something to simply overcome, Eclipsed explores its relationship with the light: how one gives form and meaning to the other, and how sorrow so often enhances our capacity to experience joy.

“‘Don’t Give Up On Me’ is one of the most powerful songs I have ever worked on. It speaks to me so personally,” he says. “During my teenage years, I dealt with several major medical issues that were at the time difficult to overcome and changed my life forever. ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’ provides a message of hope and perseverance - a cry to keep holding on, even when times seem darkest. It is a message that resonates with me strongly, given my past experiences, and I hope it can help others see that there is always a brighter day ahead.”

“From first to last breath, life is a continual act of yielding to the unknown” observes HALIENE. “I hope in some way these songs become part of your own story and bring some meaning to your life’s troubles and joys alike.”

That duality runs the full course of the album. Recent HALIENE singles have already illustrated different sides of its world. The Ilan Bluestone collaboration Eclipsed By You marked a striking return to HALIENE’s trance bedrock, examining the point at which loving another person so completely can begin to eclipse your own identity. Solar Waves, meanwhile, emerged during a period of physical recovery and creative disconnection, its atypically soft vocal performance transforming limitation into intimacy and ultimately helped HALIENE rediscover the joy of creating.

Cathartically, on Right Love, she returned to the melodic bass sound that has long played a part of her musical DNA. The song explores the particular ache of meeting the right person at the wrong time. Confronting the reality of acceptance that some things, though doubtlessly beautiful and desirable, only arrive to change us -  rather than simply remaining forever.

Elsewhere, collaboration becomes another source of its rich expressionism for the album. Don’t Give Up On Me, created with Nikademis, grew from HALIENE’s memories of supporting her parents during their battles with cancer. Its poignant message of borrowed strength and of becoming someone else’s hope when they can no longer carry their own, finds an equally personal connection in Nikademis’ experiences with serious illness.

On Voltage, the ‘PhD to EDC’-journeying Miyuki joins HALIENE for an altogether different kind of awakening. Trance synths, techno energy and 303 drive underscore a song about breaking free from expectation and discovering what we’re truly meant to be – and do.

These previously revealed chapters form only part of Eclipsed. From its opening title overture, through My Reverie, The Other Side, her Koven collaboration Orbit, Heaven Left A Light On, House of Daydreams, Dark Side of My Heart, Found and The Hymn, the album continually returns to its central theme of illumination and shadow, before reaching its final moment: Totality.

In a musical landscape increasingly shaped by AI and repetitive chart formulas, it is refreshing to hear an electronic artist determined to push boundaries both musically and sonically. On Eclipsed, HALIENE resists predictability at every turn, weaving together unexpected genres, shifting time signatures, unconventional modes, and intricate harmonic ideas. From the collision of dubstep and drum & bass with Picardy-third progressions in “The Other Side,” to the 15/4 odd meters and pentuplet polyrhythms of “Dark Side of My Heart,” the album consistently reaches beyond the conventions of modern electronic music. “I wanted to push against the trend and make music that AI could never ‘dream of’” HALIENE explains. “Music with enough humanity, complexity, and unexpected choices that it could never have been generated by a formula, and yet it feels seamless, singable and even danceable.”

More than anything, however, Eclipsed is intended to travel beyond its creator. These are songs born from change, devotion, grief, resilience, uncertainty and joy, but their meaning does not end with the experiences that created them. Like an actual eclipse, Eclipsed finds beauty not solely in darkness or light, but in the extraordinary and evanescent moments when the two engage with one another.

‘Eclipsed’, HALIENE’s daring and astonishing second album, is out now. Find it through all good streaming and sales platforms.

Flux BPM Online Music News And Features Release Cover Art HOT NEW SINGLE Music News: HALIENE - Right Love  As “Eclipsed By You” — HALIENE’s collaboration with Ilan Bluestone — and her recent solo release “Solar Waves” explored the trance side of her roots, her new single “Right Love” marks a return to the melodic bass sound that first made her voice a staple of emotionally charged dance music. ‘Built around a massive melodic bass drop and an instantly memorable chorus, “Right Love” leans fully into the emotional, cathartic energy that defined HALIENE’s fan-favorite collaborations like “Rush Over Me”, and “In My Mind” with artists like Illenium, Seven Lions and Excision. Equal parts heartbreaking and euphoric, the track blends cinematic songwriting with a pop-forward edge, delivering the kind of emotional release that has become synonymous with HALIENE’s biggest records. Additional Promo Graphic "With Right Love, I wanted to capture the ache of finding the right person in the wrong chapter of your life,” HALIENE shares. “When Annika Wells and I sat down in the studio to write this one, we were talking about the idea of relationships and how timing is everything. Sometimes a love was right, but it wasn’t for right now. I find that just like a beautiful sunset, some beautiful things were never meant to stay, only to change you in a moment. So this one is for anyone who ever held that in their hands, only to have to walk away.” While her recent releases have explored more trance-inspired and ethereal territory, “Right Love” is a reminder that HALIENE’s melodic bass side is still very much alive. Emotional, hook-heavy, and unapologetically vulnerable, the single showcases both the depth of her songwriting and the versatility that has made her one of electronic music’s most recognizable voices. Flux BPM Online Album NEWS Artist Press Photo Just In Christian Burns – Waking Up In A Northern Town There’s been a long tradition of musicians from the north of England honouring their origins through their recordings - one that dates back as far as The Beatles’ penning ‘Penny Lane’. ‘North Country Boy’, ‘Hit The North’, ‘Life In A ‘Northern Town’, ‘The North At Its Heights’, ‘It’s Grim Up North’ – just a few of the dozens that, over the following years, have championed its mass. Both culturally and creatively, the North tends to form more than the average core of an artist’s identity. It’s derived from a strong sense of pride in one’s place — not just its achievements, but in its character, humour, and resilience. Up north, ‘grey’ isn’t seen as bleak, but as honest and real: a backdrop that has shaped an unpretentious outlook on all things ‘life’. It engenders a sense of working through adversity, and through that, producing something vital, expressive and, well, frankly … elevated. Now, through his third album dispatch, ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’, singer, songwriter and BBMAK vocalist, Christian Burns makes his own mark in this grand practice. It could be argued that Burns actually began this process with the release of his last artist album in 2021. ‘Love Songs From Suburbia’s title and singles already played with the theme to a degree. There’s a distinct dichotomy between the two albums’ relationship though, as Christian goes onto explain ... “Love Songs From Suburbia’ was written during one of the lowest points of my life.. ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’ however was actually created during one of the best. It came at a time when I’d moved to the States and met and married my now-wife. “This album, well … there’s a lot of hope on here. ‘Love Songs’ was more like a plea for it. This is the one where it actually happens." As Christian points out though, “no one wants to hear an LP made up of twelve happy-clappy songs! That’s not real life.” So, in title and lyric, time and again over its vanguard singles, he’s cannily subverted or swerved the issue. The album embarks with ‘Darker Days’, and case-in-point, against its title type, optimism is never far from its surface. Likewise, his title-with-a-twist recent single, ‘Strangers’ counterbalances the more overtly elevating likes of ‘Fall To You’ or the trust-the-moment message of ‘I Will Follow’. "I'd say ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’ is definitely a continuation of ‘Love Song’s’ direction..." “If it were a movie," he jokes, “you could probably get away with calling it ‘Suburbia 2’. I look at them more as an interrelated body of work though, especially when it comes to the telling of some of the ebbs and flows of my life. Many of the experiences happened to me while I was ‘waking up’ in a ‘northern town’. Though I’m now based in the States, the north’s importance to me will never fade." Feeding into that are the visuals that accompany the album. From ‘the backbone of the north’ – the M62 carriageways which carve their way across its cover, ‘Northern Town’s imagery chimes one-to-one with its sonics. Christian says, "the music videos for the singles were all shot in and around (my hometown of) Wigan, and the artwork is all pictures I took there. Walking down old pathways I used to take when I was a kid, past my old school; in the woods where I used to walk the dog, when I was going through bad times. These are all places I revisited for ‘Northern Town’, which in turn was cycled back into the music evolving around it." Across its singles sway, Christian worked with a number of luminary co-producers - Cosmic Gate, Pretty Pink, Paul Thomas and Little Foot among them. There was one however who left an impression more broadly across its album canvas. Says Christian, “I initially contacted Banaati (of Monstercat fame) to work on the track that became ‘Embers’. His own flavour and sound translated brilliantly, and I loved the amount of space that he brought to it.” Across its singles sway, Christian worked with a number of luminary co-producers - Cosmic Gate, Pretty Pink, Paul Thomas and Little Foot among them. His own flavour and sound translated brilliantly, and I loved the amount of space that he brought to it.” In him, Christian had discovered a stylistic likemind and Benjamin’s backings prove to be a masterclass in transcendent space, knowing as much when to elementally delay or subtract, as to add. That develops an overarching atmosphere for ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’, that appears to wrap itself around the listener, and one you’ll ever more find yourself leaning into. Christian’s third album brings the north at its heights to the world at large. You can find ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’ through all good sales and streaming channels from June 19. 2025 saw Braxton take his sound to dancefloors worldwide, with a three-stop North American tour spanning Seattle, San Francisco and Toronto, alongside sets across London, Basel, Berlin, Nairobi and New York. Back on home soil, he continues to be a fixture of the UK scene with a recent appearances at fabric and a set at the newly refurbished Ministry of Sound going back to back with Jody Wisternoff in April.

[item value="10"]Braxton - There's Still Time / Green To Gold [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Braxton’s latest release on Anjunadeep, the double single “There’s Still Time at 126 BPM / Green To Gold at 124 BPM,” showcases a masterclass in modern electronic music production. Both tracks deliver an immersive journey where rhythm, groove, and drive work in perfect harmony to command the dancefloor. The hypnotic groove of “There’s Still Time” is tight and precise, layering pulsating low-end patterns with rhythmic percussion that invites continuous movement. The melodic hooks and harmonic layers are exquisitely constructed, with lush chords and evolving synth lines that blend seamlessly into the overall texture, creating a trance-inducing atmosphere that elevates both emotional connection and physical engagement. The transitions, drops, and build-ups in these tracks are executed with meticulous attention to timing and energy flow. Each drop feels earned, with subtle rises and delicate tension that bursts into driving sections designed to keep the listener in motion. The energy flow and momentum never falter, aided by excellent sound design and production quality that reflect Braxton’s technical expertise. Spatial placement of elements—from reverberant pads to precise percussive hits—enhances the three-dimensional listening experience, providing a rich, immersive soundstage. The originality of arrangement and structure shines through as Braxton crafts intricate progressions where every element serves the musical story without unnecessary repetition. The use of effects and spatial design further elevates the tracks, with delays, reverbs, and filters applied to guide the listener through sonic peaks and valleys. Dynamic range and loudness balance remain carefully managed, ensuring that neither track feels fatiguing over time while maintaining enough punch for club and festival play. This thoughtful approach contributes to atmosphere and immersion, allowing listeners to lose themselves in the cinematic breaks of “Green To Gold” or ride the hypnotic waves of “There’s Still Time.” The emotional resonance is palpable; these tracks evoke feelings of calm focus, inspiration, and euphoria. Scientific research has shown that rhythmic electronic music can positively affect mental health and fitness. Studies suggest that repetitive rhythmic patterns can induce flow states and reduce anxiety (Thaut et al., 2015), while syncopated beats enhance motor coordination and endurance during exercise (Bacon et al., 2021). In wellness and fitness classes, tracks like these support both cardiovascular activity and mindfulness practices, aligning with findings on music therapy and dopamine release (Chanda & Levitin, 2013). The creativity and artistic identity displayed by Braxton not only showcase his deep understanding of electronic music but also highlight the therapeutic potential of his sound for human well-being. Cohesion and storytelling are evident throughout both compositions, with intros and outros structured for seamless integration into DJ sets, maintaining BPM consistency and offering ample cue points and loop potential. The dynamic energy these tracks bring to set flow ensures consistent crowd engagement, with high crowd reaction potential across settings from intimate clubs to expansive festivals. The catchiness and replay value are undeniable, inviting repeated listening both on and off the dancefloor. Overall, this release represents a peak in Braxton’s ongoing journey in electronic music, delivering tracks that are technically flawless, emotionally engaging, and deeply beneficial for both physical and mental wellness. #PureGold Loveit [/content]

FEATURING TIMELESS WHITE ISLAND CLASSICS FROM CHICANE, SOLARSTONE, TIËSTO, THREE DRIVES, ENERGY 52, FERRY CORSTEN, ARMIN, RANK 1, SVENSON, GABRIEL & DRESDEN + MANY MORE

Having docked at Trance ports near and far, in May 2026, ‘Hypnotised’ - the genre’s quintessential musical companion, embarks on its sister series. The brainchild of Arjan Rietveld, (also author of Hypnotised - A Journey Through Trance Music, the definitive written history on the subject), its focus shifts from a by-country standpoint to that of a sub-genre to sub-genre exploration.

‘Hypnotised – Balearic Trance’ joins the dots between the genre’s defining moments, linking together undisputed anthems like Three Drives’ immortal ‘Greece 2000’, York’s ‘Reachers of Civilization’, and Solarstone’s ‘The Calling’. It counterweights them with deeper cut crate-diggers like the Transformer Too-riffing ‘La Paloma’ from Dove Beat, Goldenscan’s chiming ‘Sunrise’, and the holiday yearn of ‘One More Day’ from Mr. Sam vs Tim Coltrane. Lost summers, seaside atmospheres, coastal essence and sunset culture all come together on the magnificent ‘Hypnotised – Balearic Trance’.

Where in the world were you in the late 90s!?

Well, if the two things you enjoyed most were clubbing and going on holiday, chances are you found yourself in the Balearics. That, along with the surging popularity of the genre, made Balearic Trance less a chance happening and far closer to a forgone conclusion.

Its origin point, however, was anything but. It was subconsciously conceived in the last place anyone might’ve imagined — that bastion of the beatless, Café del Mar. In its earliest form, it was essentially chillout with beats: an ostensibly incongruous idea that nonetheless proved instant floor alchemy.

Some contend that Balearic Trance was conclusively born the moment Chicane placed a kickdrum underneath his Del Mar classic ‘Offshore’. ‘Hypnotised - Balearic Trance’ however begins with ‘Offshore’s own resonant overture, ‘Already There’. Waypoint set, its compass points in the unambiguously, horizon-chasing direction. The trill of Three Drives’s immortal ‘Greece 2000’, the buoyant bob of Nalin & Kane’s ‘Beachball’ and York’s ‘Reachers Of Civilization’ (in its killer Rank 1 remix form) waste no time in leaving their nostalgic mark. The album then turns its attentions to the coastal ethers of Ferry ‘Albion’ Corsten’s ‘Air’ and the Summerbreeze Mix (courtesy of Tiësto) of Jaimy & Kenny D’s ‘Caught Me Running’ - tracks that are the quintessence of the sub-genre’s melodic and sun-suffused language.

Subtitled ‘Indoor’, its second part begins at what many consider the apex of both Balearic Trance and peak Ibiza - the year 2000. ‘Hypnotised’ briefly stills its waters with The Auranaut’s languid ‘People Want to Be Needed’. As quickly upticking its hypnotic pulse though comes Armin van Buuren/Justine Suissa collab ‘Burned With Desire’ and the Gabriel & Dresden remix of Andain’s ‘Beautiful Things’. Lightscape (Mark Otten) and Jonas Steur’s Estuera project supply it ‘Inner Warmth’ and the ISOS classic ‘Tales from the South’, while Solarstone’s remix of Whirlpool’s ‘Under the Sun’ further deepens its sense of nostalgic drift. Right on time, the chanting momentum of Filterheadz’s ‘Yimanya’ arrives, melodically and expressively stirring the album’s atmospheres.

While some might make the case for Chicane, for many it was Energy 52’s ‘93 classic, ‘Café Del Mar’ that was Balearic Trance’s first gleaming. Outdoors, its final disc, opens with Michael Woods fabled remix - an ambient roots-return, which itself became a Cafe classic. From there, ‘Hypnotised’ effectively closes its own circle, moving from an ‘ambient-trance’ state to one of ‘trance-ambience’. ‘Galaxia’ under Ferry Corsten’s Moonman guise, ‘The Calling’ from Solarstone and the Sunset Mix of Rank 1’s ‘Airwave’ all appear in their most chilled forms. Closing its journey out, Hemstock & Jennings’s ‘Mirage’, ‘Melodica’ from Leama, and Planisphere’s wider-than-widescreen ‘Moonshine’ each provide something as transportive and spiritually shining as the next. Over 27 tracks and nearly four hours of magical memories, ‘Hypnotised’s sister series launches in the finest way possible.

“Electronic music, as well as ADE, has a history, a legacy and a future. The live show at ADE is going to celebrate its 30th anniversary, but also the 50th anniversary of Oxygène. I have the ambition to keep the suspense and go from one track to another, into a different atmosphere, different stage design, mapping, giant projections and architectures of lights and videos, to share that moment that can stay in your heart and your brain for the rest of your lives - This is the reason I’m so happy to be part of this celebration in 2026.” - Jean-Michel Jarre
Beyond the live concert, Jarre’s involvement in ADE 2026 bridges the origins and future of electronic music at ADE Pro with an exclusive keynote interview, alongside more surprises. From early studio experimentation to concerts that transformed entire cityscapes into shared listening spaces, his influence runs through half a century of the culture. As an artist who has always placed technology, light, and sound at the core of his work, Jarre is set to engage with the ADE community throughout the event’s program tracks. More details are soon to follow.
