[item value="10"]Darren Tate & Jono Grant - Let The Light Shine In (Nitrous Oxide Remix)[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Nitrous Oxide’s rework of “Let The Light Shine In” is a masterclass in modern trance production, blending technical finesse with emotional depth. At 128 BPM, this euphoric proglifting remix is engineered for both the dance floor and the heart, offering trance DJs immense value in versatility and crowd impact. From a production standpoint, the track demonstrates meticulous layering and sound design. The heavy, punchy, pulsating basslines are tightly sidechained to the thumping kicks, creating the kind of driving low-end energy that anchors a club system without muddying the mix. The pumping percussion and drum programming incorporate subtle fills and syncopated hi-hat patterns, adding forward momentum while maintaining danceable consistency. The synth work is a standout feature. Nitrous Oxide employs multi-layered leads with a careful blend of supersaws and digital plucks, modulating through filter sweeps and stereo imaging to build an expansive soundscape. In the breakdown, the glorious vocal section shines against atmospheric pads and reverb-heavy textures, creating a cinematic moment for DJs to give the crowd a breather before the drop. The hair-raising, heartfelt vocals—iconic in trance history—are treated with subtle delay and reverb that envelop the listener without losing lyrical clarity. From a structural perspective, the track balances uplifting energy with a slightly melancholic undertone, a hallmark of Nitrous Oxide’s emotional style. The build-ups are skillfully executed with risers, filtered percussion, and evolving synth layers that heighten tension, leading to an explosive yet elegant climax that is both euphoric and cathartic. For trance DJs, this remix is pure gold in performance contexts. Its clean mixdown and extended phrasing make it ideal for seamless transitions, whether as a peak-time anthem or a bridge between melodic and driving sets. The emotional breakdown provides a perfect hands-in-the-air moment, while the powerful drop guarantees dance floor engagement. Additionally, its production quality ensures it translates exceptionally well on large festival stages and intimate club systems alike. In essence, Nitrous Oxide’s reimagining of “Let The Light Shine In” is a technical and emotional triumph, offering DJs a track that resonates with classic trance soul while delivering modern sonic power. This is not just a remix—it’s a tool for creating unforgettable moments in any trance set. #PureGold #Proglifting #TranceEssential #LoveIT[/content]

Above & Beyond's Jono Grant remixes his JODA project, with his 'Stadium Mix' of 'We Find Ourselves'.

2022 was a big year for Jono Grant and Darren Tate, aka JODA. Grant is one-third of Above & Beyond who, throughout a two-decade career, have established themselves as one of the biggest electronic groups in the world. In 2019, Above & Beyond received an offer to score an environmental documentary, ‘The Last Glaciers’. He enlisted classically trained musician, songwriter, producer, hitmaker and close friend Darren Tate, and the duo got stuck into composing together.

It became a dream project all around – not least because it sparked further ideas. JODA was born. Working in Tate’s studio in suburban north London, and A&B’s south London HQ, the pair were in a creative bubble during the early days of the pandemic. And the partnership proved fruitful. Their self-titled album ‘JODA’, celebrating the musical influences that Jono and Darren grew up with, was released on Anjunabeats in August 2022 – to a rapturous reception from the Anjunafamily and beyond.

'We Find Ourselves' was released in April 2022 as the lead single from the JODA project, featuring Jono on vocals. His 'Stadium Mix' was premiered at Above & Beyond’s sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations in Los Angeles last October.

JODA ‘We Find Ourselves’ (Jono Grant’s Stadium Mix) is out now on Anjunabeats. JODA's self-titled debut album is out now, and is available to pre-order on black vinyl from the Anjuna Music Store.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]JODA is the common project of Jono & Darren who both have  many years in the electronic dance music scene gracing their audience with eternal classics. Now is the turn of Jono to put his hand on his self-vocalised anthem We Find Ourselves to provide his crowd pleasing Stadium Mix. Punchy pulsating dark basslines merged with edgy kicks and stomping beat to drive the track forward while on top the emotional melodies are layered teasing us of what is coming in the breakdown. The long and pleasing break allow the heartfelt emotional Jono's vocal to shine  with its simplicity and authenticity followed by massive synthy hooks that will be perfect for fireworks of course. The intensity is build and when the demanding dominating beat groove is back packed with synths and strings then u are in heaven for some moments and you wish all together to stay there for a little more. Happiness and euphoria will be reflected in our faces when we will dance with this anthem for sure. The package includes the equally energy radiating and very enthralling JODA single feat. Robyn Sherwell called Closer. Beautiful playful vocal performance and hi-nrg disco groove to pump these muscles and let the diva comes out from your soul. #PureGold Love IT[/content]

Anjunabeats is pleased to release the self-titled debut album from JODA, aka Jono Grant and Darren Tate.

JODA are a fresh musical pairing with shared DNA. Both together and apart, Jono Grant and Darren Tate have been there, done that, and bought the vintage synth gear to celebrate.

Grant is one-third of Above & Beyond who, over the course of a two-decade career, have established themselves as one of the biggest electronic groups in the world. Eight studio albums (including one as vocal trance group OceanLab and two acoustic reworks), 17 compilation albums, a film score, and nearing 100 singles speak to output as varied as it is prodigious. Their label Anjunabeats is home to a bustling community of artists with over twenty years of catalog.

As a classically trained musician, songwriter, producer, and hitmaker, Tate is an OG Top of the Pops-botherer. In the early noughties, at the outset of his career, he appeared on the show three times, once with Angelic, his collaboration with Judge Jules and the latter’s wife, performing classic trance banger It’s My Turn, then twice under the name Jurgen Vries. The following years saw more musical adventures, more Top 40 UK hits (12 in total), and more pseudonyms, including the trance-facing DT8 Project.

In 2003, the pair managed to sync their schedules to work on a couple of tracks, 'Let The Light Shine In' and 'Nocturnal Creatures'. Clearly, there was chemistry here. But as the pair’s respective careers subsequently took them off around the world in opposite directions, reconnecting other than fleetingly was never easy. Then in 2019 Tate returned to his trance roots and signed to Anjunabeats for his DT8 Project releases. Around the same time, Above & Beyond received an offer to score an environmental documentary, 'The Last Glaciers'.
“I'm musical, but I've never done a score before, which would be quite an undertaking. And I knew Darren was massively experienced at doing that, and I've always admired what he does in his film work. So my first thought was: why don't we do it with Darren?”
Jono and Darren got stuck into composing together, and it became a dream project all around – not least because it sparked further ideas. So, JODA was born. Working in Tate’s studio in suburban north London, and A&B’s south London HQ, the pair were in a creative bubble during the early days of the pandemic. And the partnership proved fruitful.

For now, Jono Grant and Darren Tate are simply happy that a project that began almost when neither of them was looking, in the midst of lockdowns, has turned out exactly and as fully as they imagined. Unforced, unhurried, and only done for love: this is a passion project of the best kind.
“It's one of the great things about doing this job: that we get to do this job!” concludes Darren Tate, beaming. “Jono and I love making music, we get on really well together, so we have fun doing it. We naturally have perfectionist instincts, but the vibe is the most important thing. So this is also rough around the edges in all the right ways."
“It absolutely is a passion project,” affirms Jono Grant. “The other thing was, of course, we've done this over the pandemic. So it was cathartic. We were lucky enough to be able to work. And this was therapy of the best kind.”
JODA’s self-titled debut album is out now on Anjunabeats. Vinyl copies of ‘JODA’, plus logo tee bundles are available to pre-order via the Anjuna Music Store.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] The music fans of trance we are truly blessed to have in our community talented producers like Jono Grant and Darren Tate. Both of them they adore their art and their common project is an example of high quality electro pop with progressive trance and house infusions too. Great electro pop style melodies and warm welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home surrounded by cinematic strings, organic melodies and indie rock style vocals with lyrics that they have something nice to communicate and definitely go under the surface. Optimistic and colorful sounds demand for attention and endorsement away from  music genre categories. Electronic music was always about transgressing the boundaries and escaping the ordinary so definitely this album will captivate you and quickly absorb you in its beautiful world. A new chapter started and we will be excited to see Joda live too. Pure Gold  [/content]
