Knight and Hurr achieve what few producers can—not only reviving a legendary hit but reimagining it through the lens of the modern dance floor. [content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Mark Knight and James Hurr breathe new life into Joe Smooth's timeless anthem 'Promised Land' with a dynamic piano-house remix that masterfully blends nostalgia with modern dancefloor energy. This reinterpretation showcases their exceptional production prowess, meticulously balancing the original's soulful essence with contemporary electronic elements. Technically, the remix thrives on a robust 126 BPM framework, tailored for prime-time club sets where energy levels peak. The track opens with crisp percussion layers, establishing an immediate groove that hooks listeners. The drum programming is tight and punchy, featuring well-crafted hi-hats and clap patterns that drive the rhythm forward while maintaining clarity in the mix. Central to the remix's allure are the euphoric piano chords—rich, resonant, and layered for maximum harmonic depth. These soaring riffs not only pay homage to classic house but are enhanced through pristine sound design techniques, including subtle reverb tails and dynamic EQ adjustments that allow the pianos to shine without overpowering the mix. The vocal treatment is equally noteworthy. Knight and Hurr employ selective vocal chops, reverb, and delay effects to maintain the emotive power of Joe Smooth's original performance while integrating it seamlessly into their modern arrangement. The careful use of automation ensures that the vocals ebb and flow with the track’s dynamics, creating moments of introspection before launching back into high-energy sections. From a production standpoint, the track benefits from meticulous mixing and mastering. Each element occupies its sonic space perfectly, with sidechain compression techniques applied subtly to create that signature pulsing effect characteristic of house music. The bassline is warm and groovy, locking in perfectly with the kick drum to provide a solid foundation. Knight and Hurr’s remix of 'Promised Land' is not just a tribute but a technical showcase—demonstrating advanced production techniques, thoughtful arrangement, and a deep understanding of what moves modern dancefloors. This track stands as a testament to their ability to honor house music's roots while pushing its boundaries. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

Dimitris Kechagias Review: [review top="1"] [item value="10"]CHANEY - Open Up Your Love [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]CHANEY’s latest release under Armada Music, "Open Up Your Love," stands as a quintessential summer anthem that perfectly encapsulates the vibrant essence of classic soulful piano house. Operating at an invigorating 126 BPM, the track exudes an infectious energy that seamlessly bridges nostalgic elements with contemporary production finesse. From a technical standpoint, "Open Up Your Love" showcases meticulous production quality. The track opens with crisp, punchy kicks that establish an energetic foundation, complemented by tightly programmed hi-hats and snare rolls that add rhythmic complexity. The percussion elements are layered skillfully to ensure both clarity and drive, maintaining an upbeat groove that beckons listeners to the dance floor. The heart of the track lies in its euphoric piano chords, crafted with a rich, warm timbre that resonates with the hallmark sounds of 90s house music. The piano arrangement employs lush voicings and dynamic chord progressions, enhanced by subtle velocity variations that lend a human touch to its digital precision. This not only bolsters the track’s harmonic depth but also evokes a palpable sense of nostalgia. Vocally, CHANEY collaborates with soulful female vocals that are imbued with emotional resonance. The vocals are processed with a balanced mix of reverb and delay, creating a spacious yet intimate feel. Layered harmonies and call-and-response techniques enrich the texture, while precise EQing ensures that the vocals sit perfectly within the mix, neither overpowering nor getting lost among the instrumental layers. In terms of arrangement, the track is crafted with an intuitive flow, featuring well-timed builds and drops that maximize listener engagement. The breakdowns strip back to allow the melodic elements to shine, while the subsequent drops reintroduce the full spectrum of sounds with heightened intensity. Sidechain compression is employed adeptly to create a pulsing effect, enhancing the track’s dynamic movement. Overall, "Open Up Your Love" radiates positivity and showcases CHANEY’s prowess in blending classic house aesthetics with modern production techniques. The exceptional attention to detail in its technical execution and production processes makes it not just a feel-good anthem, but a masterfully crafted piece that resonates on both emotional and auditory levels. #PureGold Love IT[/content]

When artists like Carly Wilford, BIIANCO and Lea Lea come together, who are each making waves in the dance music sphere, magic happens. ‘Been Right Here’ lands on Armada Music today, signaling a celebration of diversity and a turning point in gaining recognition within the industry.
After spontaneously meeting in LA at the end of 2022, Armada Subjekt alumni Carly Wilford, London- & LA-based BIIANCO and multitalented Lea Lea bonded instantly over their shared experiences within the music industry; from finding a voice in a space where many groups are underrepresented, to how much work goes into refining the craft of producing, DJing and songwriting. Immediately jumping in the studio felt like the natural step.
On the track’s title and vocal motif Carly Wilford says ‘It all stemmed from a conversation within the first ten minutes of meeting each other about how the three of us became the artists we are today, and the fact we’ve ‘been right here’ the whole time despite it taking a while to get heard in such a crowded space. The conversation we had was so honest and empowering, and I think that really comes across in the track. We wanted the to create something punchy that shows we mean business.’
Infectious ‘til the very last second, ‘Been Right Here’ showcases an irresistible synergy between the radiant piano chords, consistent groove and inspiring vocals that evoke a sense of empowerment. Inspired by 90s dance and classic powerhouse vocals, listeners can expect a layered vocal arrangement led by Lea Lea and additional backing vocals from BIIANCO and Carly Wilford. Not forgetting additional quirks to the production such as clapping in the vocal booth to create an extra human element to the production layers.
‘It’s not often that you connect with other artists instantly, but that is exactly what happened here, and we felt really compelled to put our feelings down in this way,’ explains Lea Lea.
‘Tracks like this that come out of what feels like nowhere are always the most important because they are so raw and meaningful,’ adds BIIANCO. ‘I hope this one inspires others to collaborate and make the change they want to see in the world.’
About Carly Wilford
After learning to produce in lockdown, Carly Wilford is quickly becoming one of the most promising new names in dance music. Her recent releases 'Burning Night and ‘Sky High’ were heavily backed by Radio 1 gaining ongoing support from Sarah Story, Danny Howard and also becoming Jaguar’s ‘Dance Floor Moment’. After standout performances at Glastonbury Festival and in Ibiza this summer, her high energy sets bring forward a new wave of house music whilst honouring the very roots of the scene she grew up raving to. Starting out as a Presenter, her early career saw her take over the airwaves on the Rinse FM Breakfast Show before taking bold steps to become a respected DJ and Music Producer.
About BIIANCO
BIIANCO is the multi-instrumental music producer, vocalist and overall mad-scientist in a new era of electronic music. The past year has seen them stride into dance music, championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Kiss FM, KCRW, KEXP, Diplo’s Revolution on Sirius XM and more. The common threads of playful acid, breaks and trance that run through the punchy productions are reminiscent of the Chemical Brothers with the mainstream appeal of a more emotional Jamie XX. They’ve garnered press from outlets like NOTION, Wonderland Mag, Billboard, EDM Identity, tmrw and more, while also catching the attention of pioneering tastemaker labels such as Armada, This Never Happened and Part Four. They continue to tour globally, supporting big names like SG Lewis and Dusky, while their festival slots — Secret Garden Party, Body Movements and Outloud among others — clear the way for their high energy and technically mind-blowing hybrid DJ performances.
As a queer, partially blind femme producer, BIIANCO has quickly become a symbol of inclusion in a music industry often too lacking in it. At the end of the day, BIIANCO creates art from a place of raw, emotional movement. They make music to dance and ugly cry to.
About Lea Lea
East London vocalist, DJ and film sound editor, Lea Lea, rhythmically roars her audience to attention. Inspired by '90s dance, sultry RnB and UK Garage, Lea Lea has featured and written for acts such as Chk Chk Chk, Goth-trad and Nu:Tone, hitting the dance charts with the latter on DnB track 'Tides'. Slated as "one to watch" by Lauren Lavern (BBC Radio 6Music) and a "vocal velveteen" by DJ Mag, she has toured around the world (Glastonbury, Primavera, Dimensions) and performed on line ups that include Jay Z, Beyoncé and Kaytranada. Additionally, she also co-runs 'FIXX' - a party brand born out of wanting to create a respectful space to celebrate riddims and ravers.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Feenixpawl & Dave Winnel delivered the awesome anthem Find A Way. Now 2 additional remixes do the damage currently in the global dancefloors. Firstly Stace Cadet remix is feel good deep melodic dream house with nice piano chords, warm cinematic strings and from vocals only the very strong chorus that instantly uplifts you in an old school house way. Just Vague remix is a much more bouncy future house version with stomping basslines, siren like synths, chopped vocal loops, great application of the full vocals with very positive breakdown that lead to the rocking drop that any house head will feel dizzy with it for sure. Sven Vath’s legendary Cocoon Ibiza event came of age in 2017 as its 18th season played out to great acclaim once more. Now the boss himself steps up to condense the sound of the weekly party into two compelling mix CDs.
DJ mixes often do little more than keeping up a certain mood, and masterful Sven Vath only needs a couple of moments to do just that. But this is not enough for the inimitable DJ from Frankfurt am Main, instead he wants to introduce listeners to an entire world of electronic sounds. Here he uses the mixes to express his passion for the whole scene, “to tell about the adventures he has experienced traveling, about his love for his friends, his children, his girlfriend and particularly to his fans all around the world” says the label.
As such the 18th edition of this series is a real trip. Disc one kicks off with deep house from Willow then the groove becomes more insistent as Eduardo de la Calle has the crowd gather around his pulsating bassline and crackling hi-hats. With the daring sing- a-long of Basti Grub, Vath shows his playful side and then comes the nonchalance and coolness of Eddie Fowlkes and singer Na Dee. With Fort Romeau, processed voices spread a trippy, unreal vibe and moments later, Vath blends a new, very special Chez Damier bassline into the mix. Ricardo Villalobos's casual, eye-opening grooves appear to be the ideal counterbalance to Damier’s unbounded bassline then things play out with the likes of DJ Slyngshot’s melody rich house, label stalwarts like Isolee and the high energy of KINK.
One of 2017’s biggest tracks in ‘Avalon’ by &Me puts a hymnal vocal and unbridled tribal percussion on top of a floating house groove to kick start disc two, which then touches the sonic vastness of Patrice Baumel, Fideles’s loose synth-sounds and the ghostly ‘On the Way’ by Gaiser which, with its uncanny voices, feels like a message from another, surreal world. With the moods always evolving and tempos roaming, Aubrey hints towards the big finish which builds through stomping Chicago house from Slam, a climactic cut from Secret Cinema & Egbert then the mysterious synth heavy techno of Barnt and Inigo Kennedy's groping, longing sounds suggest a new begin- ning.
Once again this is thrilling musical document that rounds up the most important techno party in the whole of Ibiza.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Disclosure are back with their offering for the summer. Firstly is Feel Like I Do sampling the legend Al Green. The result is a magnificent sugar sweet soulful deep house record perfect for lazy Sunday afternoon and summer barbecue parties. Moog For Love with Eats Everything is another example of their artistry with strong application of samples with tribal techy grooves, deep funky basslines and cool atmosphere that keep it firmly underground so I can see the smile on some anti-mainstream djs who will adore playing it. BOSS is definitely an excellent deep house banger with old school influences and the very creative application of the very addictive distorted vocal sample. Bouncy garage infused basslines, chunky playful grooves and vintage synths. It sounds like that BOSS will be the single that can crossover to the bigger public and get the radio audiences grabbing it easily. #PureGold Love It [/content]
A precociously talented individual, MNEK started making songs when he was just 9-years-old, before signing his first publishing deal five years later. Able to deconstruct and re-build pop, R&B and dance in a way most mere mortals can’t, his songwriting, production and vocal skills have been sought out by everyone from The Saturdays (on two Xenomania-assisted singles) to Rudimental (Spoons/Common Emotion); from Duke Dumont (Need U (100%)) to Little Mix (album highlight, Nothing Feels Like You); from Bondax (All I See) to Kylie Minogue (Feels So Good); from Shadow Child (Climbin’ (Piano Weapon)) to Karen Harding (Say Something) to a certain Madonna. In 2016 Beyoncé also used his services as songwriter as MNEK co-wrote “Hold Up” for her album LEMONADE.
No stranger to chart success, he co-wrote Oliver Heldens’ UK number 1 single Gecko and hit Last All Night (Koala) and crashed into the Top 5 with the deep house majesty of Gorgon City collaboration, Ready For Your Love (which he co-wrote and sang). Not only that but he’s also been working with the crop of UK talent, producing for and co-writing with Clean Bandit, Chris Malinchak, Naughty Boy, Lianne Las Havas and many others.
But his talents don’t just stop at creating musical mastery for other people. Versatile enough to play about with deep house one minute, pure pop the next and R&B bangers as and when he feels like it, MNEK’s also primed to properly take over as a solo artist following recent singles Every Little Word and the elastic, low-slung future R&B of the Radio One play listed follow-up, Wrote A Song About You. With an artistic vision for the album already in place, he’s also ventured out into the live arena, playing a myriad of summer festivals and three sold-out shows in London. MNEK achieved his first Top 40 single with ‘The Rhythm’ which also rose high in the club charts. His EP ‘Small Talk’, featuring all of his singles including ‘The Rhythm’, plus a couple of new tracks, was released in March 2015.
On the 3rd September MNEK announced his brand new single, Never Forget You with Swedish pop star Zara Larsson. The single premiered on the 10th September as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 and to date has been certified Platinum in the UK, x3 Platinum in Sweden, x2 Platinum in Australia and Denmark and Platinum in Norway. It has amassed over 200 million Spotify Streams and 110 Million video views. “Never Forget You” also had a stellar run in the US where it has been certified GOLD, reached the number 1 spot on the Dance Billboard chart for two consecutive weeks and has become a top 10 hit on the national airplay chart.
On the 13th May 2016 MNEK premiered his latest single “At Night (I Think About You)” on Annie Mac’s radio 1 show which named it her Hottest Record in the World.

Let it be said that The Bearded Man doesn't care much for rain, except for under pretty extreme circumstances. In Death Valley? Rain is his friend. The Aussie outback? Yep, rain is a definite plus. How about in Seattle? Ehhhh, not so much. As he chugged his 10th latte of the day, he thought, "no wonder these people love coffee so much" and stared out into the pouring rain. An old Nirvana record came on, and suddenly, he understood all of Seattle in a single moment. "Depressing lyrics? Check. Strong indoor culture? Check. Coffee? Check. Nature? Hmm..." Well he wasn't really sure about the nature, since he hadn't seen the sun once in his two weeks there. It was a far cry from his usual cabanas and pool parties. Still, summer eventually came, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The rain from before had made everything a lush green, and it was some of the most spectacular nature he'd ever seen. Citrus clouds dotted the sky. In his mind, he channeled his inner Diplo, and said to the microphone in his mind "I see you Seattle!" He called up Dan Bravo to tell him about it, and all Dan said was: "Dude, I'm from Norway. Trust me, I understand."
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Nature by The Citrus Clouds gets an excellent remix by Dan Bravo. It starts with trap like 2 step intro section and then moves in the relaxing deep house section that is very danceable and will keep you dancing hypnotised on the dancefloor. Superb soulful vocal and glowing atmosphere makes this record an instant classic. #PureGold Love It[/content]

Having made his first appearance on Piston back towards the end of 2015 on The Secrets Of The Trade 004, Demarkus Lewis makes his full debut with the superb three tracker - Strung On You. A powerhouse in the electronic music world, this guy has been churning out quality vibes for over 15 years. He is well known for taking things deep, way deep, while maintaining an energy level that keeps floors busy. His sounds have graced many labels over the years, Nervous Records, Slip N Slide, Black Vinyl, Kingtstreet Soundz and Guesthouse Music are just a few of the labels to mention. He also owns the successful Grin Music where he showcases only the finest grooves. Considered a legend in the underground scene, we are delighted to have this guy on board and we hope to see more from him in the future.
The Main Mix is up first and intros is classic style with a punchy kick drum and super crispy open hats alongside sharp claps. Flavourful keys and lush tones soon take over bringing the sound deeper. A superb, solid bassline gives the track its deep house groove as those keys and pads swirl overhead creating a perfectly balanced sound that will keep the floors burning. Cool vocals deliver a real classic feeling full of funky phrases and luscious vibes. This is what deep house is all about, a definite must have track.
The Dub Mix removes the main vocal leaving behind just a taste to whet the appetite. A classy affair that derives the deep house sound in a classic sense. This one will be a most welcome addition in any set.
Piston main man and head honcho Rogerio Martins is on remix duty and delivers another fine slice of deepness for our listening pleasure. When this guy isn't busy sifting demos and managing his label he gets into the studio to delight us with his sounds. Fresh off the back of his debut release on the legendary KMS Records, Rogerio loves nothing more than dishing out deep and groovy vibes and here he does not disappoint. The remix open with a very cool bassy kick drum and a super crispy hat with subtle percussions bringing up the rear. No time is wasted and soon the beautifully warm bass envelopes the sound while equally warm pads create a deep atmosphere. The track takes a short break where we are introduced to the star of the show, a fantastic piano chord that just oozes coolness and sophistication. The piano is so understated that it quite simply dominates the groove to perfection. Sprinklings of that smooth vocal litter the track making this a track you do not want to miss.

After 150,000 UK sales of his bluesy house track ‘Treasured Soul’, Parisian producer and DJ Michael Calfan’s follow-up track ‘Nobody Does It Better’ impacts on April 20th. ‘Nobody Better’ has already hit #1 on Beatport’s house chart and #5 in the Top 100. At SoundCloud, the track has soared towards 2 million streams.
With ‘Nobody Does It Better’, Michael Calfan captures the cross-genre magic that made ‘Treasured Soul’ so memorable. This time around, he weaves soul, gospel and uplifting piano melodies into an uplifting deep house track that’s the perfect match for the springtime.
DJ support so far indicates that ‘Nobody Does It Better’ could again propel Michael Calfan into the charts with backing from big names and influential figureheads including Avicii, Tiësto, Steve Angello, Firebeatz, R3hab, Oliver Heldens, Don Diablo, EDX, Sam Feldt, Pete Tong, DJ Snake, The Magician, Klingande and Mike Mago.
Michael Calfan has been making music since he was a teenager. His first releases were on Bob Sinclar’s Yellow Productions label. But it was after his track 'Resurrection' on Axwell’s Axtone label that he really started to make a name for himself, Subsequent releases on Roger Sanchez’s Stealth label and collaborations with the likes of Fedde Le Grand and John Dahlbäck, further cemented his reputation as one to watch.
More recently, ‘Treasured Soul’ and his remixes for David Guetta, Oliver Heldens, Afrojack and Bob Sinclar, plus releases on Spinnin’ Records, have catapulted interest in this young producer to a whole new level.
Deep house maestro Michael Calfan returns with another anthem for the ages. The soul house vibe is strong here, with inspiring piano melodies, gospel tinged vocals and wonderful chorus perfecting Calfan’s trademark sound. Like going to the church of house, the Frenchman drops another gem!
