‘IN SEARCH OF SUNRISE 21 – NIRVANA: FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF DREAMERS’ MIXED BY MARKUS SCHULZ

FEATURING THE MUSIC OF RÖYKSOPP, FERRY CORSTEN, REBŪKE, KYAU & ALBERT, ROBERT NICKSON PRES. RAHB, MIKE EFEX, DAXSON, L.S.G. AND MARKUS SCHULZ

For more than two decades, In Search of Sunrise has embodied emotion, discovery, and the beauty of daybreak. With the release of In Search of Sunrise 21, Markus Schulz has taken the series into his own hands for the first time, curating all three chapters in a single summer-long odyssey. Following the dreamlike foundation of The Awakening, he now unveils its beating heart: Nirvana.
“The Awakening set the stage, but Nirvana is where the music fully consumes you. It’s that moment when the dancefloor becomes timeless - when the melodies and emotions carry you into another dimension. For me, this is the beating heart of ISOS 21.”
Where the first chapter whispered with dawn’s atmosphere, Nirvana surges into motion, flowing from deep progressive textures into driving melodic techno, before culminating in trance at its most euphoric. It is the soundtrack to nights without end, to moments of release on the dancefloor, and to the kind of emotional catharsis that In Search of Sunrise has always promised.

Markus has curated a collection that bridges eras: legends like Röyksopp, Ferry Corsten, Kyau & Albert, and Oliver Lieb as L.S.G. share the stage with rising voices such as Cristoph, Rebūke, Hellmuth, Hel:sløwed, BLR, and Shadow Assembly. Yet at the heart of Nirvana lie moments that define its soul - among them, Markus’ own collaboration with BLR on Ten Seconds Before Sunrise, a moving tribute to Tiësto’s original ISOS legacy, reimagined for a new generation. Robert Nickson breathes new life into his beloved classic Heliopause, while Daxson unveils a special ISOS version of Amber Horizon - an introspective counterpoint to his signature high-energy style. And as the mix draws to its close, Markus delivers the deeply emotional What Remains of Us, a finale destined to resonate long after the music fades.
Reflecting on the mix, Markus explains:“Nirvana is about the nights when the music completely takes over, when time disappears, and you’re swept away in the emotion of it all. It’s where the legacy of In Search of Sunrise meets its future.”
In Search of Sunrise 21 – Nirvana: For The Next Generation Of Dreamers arrives August 27, with the trilogy’s final chapter The Nocturnal Voyage completing the journey on September 17, alongside the full CD and vinyl box set, also from Sept 17.

A growing talent on the label, Blake has amassed a captive audience in recent years owing to his uniquely playful and often breakbeat-driven sound. After debuting on Anjunadeep in March 2023 with the ‘High Fidelity EP’, Blake was quick to follow up with the ‘Eyes Ablaze EP’. The highly sought-after title track became an instant fan favourite after featuring on label compilation Anjunadeep 14. ‘Eyes Ablaze’ is Blake’s creative interpretation of Blue Foundation’s cult classic single ‘Eyes On Fire’, (a track prominently featured in 2008 film ‘Twilight’), and showcased Blake’s unusual artistic inspirations.

Blake made his Anjunadeep touring debut at Explorations Festival 2024, playing a two-hour set on the Splendor stage followed by a six-hour poolside b2b with label legend Jody Wisternoff, with whom Blake collaborated with to create 2024 single ‘BLAM’. His touring has since exploded, kicking off the year with a set at The Mothership in Auckland, New Zealand, followed by an appearance at Anjunadeep Open Air Dubai and all three stops on Anjunadeep’s debut Australia tour, touching down in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. He made a triumphant return to the Splendor stage at Anjunadeep Explorations 2025, delivering a standout set packed with original music. Alongside announcing his forthcoming LP, ‘From Sydney With Love’, Blake is set to embark on a multi-date album tour across Australia, taking place towards the end of August and throughout September. He will stop off in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane amongst other key cities, with an exciting hometown show booked for Civic Underground in Sydney.

Blake.08’s debut album is the culmination of 15 years’ worth of creative passion and a deep desire to bring happiness to people through music. Written and produced entirely in his home studio, it captures the emotional highs and lows of that journey alongside countless long nights chasing the feeling that the music was finally right. ‘From Sydney With Love’ is Blake’s tribute to the city and community that made him who he is, from the beaches and harbour to the winding roads of Sydney’s Royal National Park. A lifelong motorsport enthusiast, Blake’s love of fast drives and late-night cruises became a core part of the album’s energy and artistic direction. First introduced to Anjunabeats and later Anjunadeep through artists like Mat Zo and Above & Beyond, their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes would accompany him on college trips, and in later life on night-time drives around the city. Featuring a range of collaborators such as Claxy, Nathan Ball, Seduna, Soschi and Gaz, Blake’s debut album is music designed for movement, whether driving or dancing. It’s emotionally charged, rhythmically driven, and reflective of a life lived in Sydney.

Blake Gilray was born in Maroubra, a beachside suburb of Sydney, and started producing music at a young age, first launching as one half of the duo Human Movement. In 2021, Blake decided to strike out on his own to produce breaks and electro as Blake.08, a moniker inspired by his beloved Roland TR-808 drum machine. Two years later, he made his label debut on Anjunadeep. While our relationship with Blake is still pretty fresh, he’s already made quite the impact. He’s released three EPs, several singles and two collaborations with Anjuna legends Jody Wisternoff and Qrion.

His debut album, ‘From Sydney With Love’, borrows its name from the title of the very first demo playlist Blake sent to us, and is the culmination of 15 years of creative passion. Written and produced entirely in his home studio, the album is a tribute to the city and community that made him who he is, from the beaches and harbour to the winding roads of Sydney’s Royal National Park that he is so fond of driving. Blake is something of a motorsports nut, and this creatively inspires a lot of his music.

His first releases as Blake.08 all feature artwork with cars on, and the particularly keen-eared among you will hear that in his Anjunadeep single ‘Star Sender’, you can hear a piece of dialogue from Japanese street-racing anime Initial D. Blake’s love of fast drives and late-night cruises became a core part of the energy and artistic direction of ‘From Sydney With Love’. Blake’s debut album is emotionally-charged, rhythmically-driven and designed for movement, whether on the dancefloor or behind the wheel…
“With ‘From Sydney With Love’ I set out to craft a sound that felt entirely my own, as free from outside influences as I could manage and rooted in the raw connection between rhythm and emotion. It’s music designed for movement, be it driving or dancing. I hope those who listen find themselves experiencing introspection and joy. Sydney is my city, it’s where I’ve moved through so many phases of life. Without Sydney, the culture, the people, my family, the beaches, the harbour…I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”
Blake will be taking his album on a tour around his home country.

The crisp transient shaping on the percussion elements further amplifies its punch. 6. High Fidelity A crisp, polished track that lives up to its title, "High Fidelity" features pristine production. The use of high-pass filters and subtle harmonic saturation gives the track a clean yet warm feel. It’s the honesty in both his music and personality that has made ilan Bluestone a staple in the dance and trance world for over a decade.

As an Anjunabeats stalwart, the early ‘Anthem Test’ Instagram previews of his late-night writing sessions forged an instant connection with his audience years ahead of it becoming common practice on social media platforms. He provided the audience with insight into what it’s like to be a musician, producer, and DJ in the 2010s — a sentiment echoed in his high-energy, euphoric, and melodic music that has taken him to the stages of Madison Square Garden, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and EDC.

His albums are the clearest window into his current headspace as a musician. 2018’s ‘Scars’ is a love letter to the inspirations that had informed and imprinted his early musical journey. 2021’s ‘Impulse’, a thoroughly ‘Tronce’ coming of age LP embracing the high energy club side of life post pandemic.

Completing a trilogy of ‘heart on sleeve’ LPs is ‘Ignite’, the story of an artist reigniting his creative fires after burnout in 2023.
“Touring ‘Impulse’ after the pandemic was amazing” ilan shares. “But by November 2023, I’d played 70 shows in just over a year. The constant travel took its toll, and I had to come off the road to recharge by being in the studio again, explore new sounds, and work with fresh collaborators.”

Ignite is ilan’s most eclectic project yet: 15 tracks spanning 80s synthwave, cinematic ballads, melodic progressive house and new-age electronica, all grounded by the uplifting trance that defines his live sets.
“There are darker moments on there, but ultimately ‘Ignite’ is about the emotions and experiences that spark us into life. Writing these records felt like a weight coming off my shoulders and I’m hoping they inspire others to tackle and overcome their challenges in life”.
Bluestone’s love for string orchestration shines through the album, including the opening track ‘40’ with composer Jasper Blunk. The title track and first single, ‘Ignite’, is an electrifying blend of hypnotic melodies, soaring vocals, and explosive drops. It partners ilan with two artists who have been heavily involved in his story so far: Maor Levi and Giuseppe De Luca, marking the first time the three have collaborated on a record. Leeds-based writer and singer Giuseppe features more across the album, as well as on records with longtime contributors EL Waves, Gid Sedgwick and Ellen Smith. The album also introduces several new voices to ilan’s story.

The album celebrates four decades of house music in a powerful tribute to Smooth’s journey from the underground clubs of Chicago to international acclaim

Legendary house music producer Joe Smooth today released ‘We Shall Overcome’, his first album in over 30 years. Arriving at a poignant moment, the release stands as a deeply personal reflection on his 40-year journey in house music, celebrating the genre’s rich soundscape and the many voices that have shaped his path.

A self-taught musician and DJ since his early teens, Smooth quickly emerged as a foundational force in Chicago’s house music scene. By age 20, he was the head DJ at the iconic Smart Bar and collaborating with genre frontrunners such as Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, and Lil Louis, and producing for artists including Prince and The Art of Noise. In 1983, Smooth co-produced ‘Jack Trax’, one of the earlier house records, featuring ‘Time to Jack’ – the first record in dance music to use the terms “Jack” and “House” and a track widely seen as a cornerstone of house music’s first wave. Just four years later, his seminal track ‘Promised Land’ became a global anthem.

Now, with ‘We Shall Overcome’, Smooth presents a sonic time capsule that blends new compositions with remastered classics, offering a reflective yet progressive journey through the genre’s evolution, told through the eyes of one of its founding pioneers.

Lead single ‘Overcome’, featuring iconic house music vocalist Chuck Roberts alongside Angie Brown and Mr. Root, pays homage to Roberts with a tribute that ensures his voice continues to echo across the scene for decades to come. The album also includes contributions from artists who have reinterpreted Promised Land, including Solomun and Lee Foss, bridging generations of house music and connecting the genre’s roots to today’s global dance culture.

"We Shall Overcome is about more than music: it’s a message," says Joe Smooth. "At a time when the world feels divided, house music continues to bring people together. This album is a celebration of that energy, and of the community that’s carried this culture forward."

As the genre continues to expand and evolve, Smooth emphasizes the need to preserve its roots. “We need to get back to that feeling – house is a feeling. DJs and producers should take more risks and be more intentional with what they create and play. The new generation is hungry for meaning, and this music has always been the soundtrack to real life.”
With ‘We Shall Overcome’, Joe Smooth reaffirms his role not just as a pioneer, but as an utmost champion of house music’s past, present, and future, reminding listeners of its power to uplift, inspire, and unite.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Joe Smooth’s We Shall Overcome is a dynamic two-disc collection that not only celebrates the depth and evolution of house music but also stands as a testament to advanced production techniques and meticulous craftsmanship. This collection bridges classic vibes with contemporary sounds through sophisticated layering and innovative sound design. Tracks like "Overcome," featuring Angie Brown, Mr. Root, and Chuck Roberts, showcase powerful vocal processing techniques. The vocals are enhanced with dynamic EQ, subtle reverb layering, and careful compression to maintain clarity and emotional impact. The uplifting beats are crafted using a mix of analog drum machines and digital sequencers, creating a rich, warm texture synonymous with classic house. “Rain Down On Me” and “Crazy World” bring soulful melodies to the forefront, thanks to the use of vintage synthesizers like the Roland Juno-106, coupled with modern soft-synths for harmonic layering. The contributions from Maydien & Robert Owens are emphasized through intricate vocal harmonization techniques and stereo imaging, giving the tracks a spacious, immersive feel. "Black Sun Rising" stands out with its complex rhythmic structures. The collaboration with DJ K'Alexi, Kaleb Searcy, and Lushomo highlights Joe Smooth’s knack for polyrhythmic layering and syncopation. The track employs sidechain compression to maintain groove consistency while allowing the bassline to breathe alongside intricate percussive elements. "Our Houze" with George Clinton seamlessly infuses funk elements into house grooves through live bass recordings, processed with envelope filters and analog saturation, creating a groovy, organic feel. "Still Loving You" featuring Porcelain uses atmospheric pads, granular synthesis, and meticulous automation to add emotional depth, enhancing the dynamic flow of the album. The second disc is anchored by multiple renditions of the iconic "Promised Land." The Solomun Remix introduces a darker, club-friendly vibe achieved through deep sub-bass synthesis, minimalist drum patterns, and extensive use of reverb and delay effects to create a haunting atmosphere. The low-pass filter automation adds a dynamic progression, making the track evolve seamlessly over time. The collaboration with Lee Foss offers a fresh, modern twist with elements of tech-house. Here, sidechain ducking, modular synthesis, and glitch effects are employed to add texture and depth, while maintaining the soulful essence of the original. The intricate drum programming with off-beat hi-hats and syncopated claps adds a contemporary flair, pushing the rhythmic boundaries. We Shall Overcome is a masterclass in blending soulful house with contemporary electronic elements. Joe Smooth’s production process reflects a deep understanding of both analog warmth and digital precision. Each track is meticulously crafted using advanced mixing and mastering techniques—parallel compression, multi-band EQ, and stereo widening—to create a cohesive, inspiring journey. This album is both reflective and celebratory, paying homage to the roots of house music while pushing its creative boundaries. From a technical standpoint, it showcases an evolution in sound design and production artistry, making it a standout in modern electronic music.#PureGold Love IT[/content]

A melodic trance journey shaped by connection, resilience and emotional clarity.

Trance producer BiXX has announced The Voice of Reason, a 17-track debut album rooted in personal experience, emotional honesty and melodic structure. Known for his uplifting productions and heartfelt vocal work, BiXX brings together years of development into a cohesive, thoughtfully crafted body of work.
“This album is me putting everything I’ve learned into one place,” he says. “Not just as a producer, but as a person. It’s about what I’ve come through, what I believe, and what I want to share – to help others develop their own internal voice of reason.”
Influenced early on by Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Solarstone and Oakenfold, BiXX was drawn to trance for its capacity to carry meaning without needing to shout. The Voice of Reason builds on that foundation, blending soaring vocals, orchestral flourishes and layered sound design to create something both expansive and intimate.

Several tracks speak directly to BiXX’s personal journey. “Believe In Me” is a tribute to his late father, while “Appreciation” and “Beauty Within” reflect values passed down from his parents.
“My dad used to tell me to be a voice of reason in the world. That stuck with me. It gave the album its title and its direction.”
The album features collaborations with Susana, Natalie Gioia, Cari, That Girl and JSKA. Many of these relationships are long-standing and built on mutual trust.
“There’s a comfort that comes when you’ve worked together before. The best writing comes from that space of synergy and being in that collaborative zone”
Although some tracks feature over 100 layers, the production always prioritises clarity and feeling. There are acoustic versions included for three key tracks, including the closing “Your Time Will Come,” which draws inspiration from the final scene of The Shawshank Redemption. “It’s that moment when all the struggle is behind you, and something better is finally arriving. That’s the energy I wanted to end on.”

For BiXX, The Voice of Reason is not just a debut but a mission statement.
“I wanted to make something that helps people remember who they are. Something with heart, something real.”
The Voice of Reason is out 05 September 2025 all major platforms.

In the vast landscape of electronic music, few tracks manage to capture the duality of life's fleeting beauty and the eternal resonance of memories. Mile Diskovic’s "Carpe Diem" achieves just that—a sonic tapestry woven with melancholic melodies and rhythmic pulses that echo both euphoria and introspection.

Original Mix: The Sound of Impermanence

At its core, "Carpe Diem" is an ode to the transient nature of life. The original mix opens with a rich, atmospheric soundscape, where ornamental synth layers shimmer like fleeting moments under the sun. Diskovic masterfully integrates a magic-flute-like hookline—a whimsical yet haunting melody that dances gracefully above the track’s deep, pulsating bassline.

The technical prowess shines through the detailed sound design. The track is built on a foundation of lush pads and subtle arpeggios, creating depth without overwhelming the listener. The rhythmic structure employs a four-on-the-floor kick, accompanied by crisp hi-hats and shuffling percussions, giving the track a heartbeat-like consistency. The breakdowns are tastefully minimal, allowing the melodic fragments to breathe and evoke a profound sense of nostalgia.

This composition is more than just a dance track; it’s a reflective mirror, reminding us that life's most radiant moments are often the most fleeting—"Carpe diem, memento mori."

Chris Maico Schmidt Remix: A Hypnotic Transformation

While the original mix embraces the delicate juxtaposition of melancholy and euphoria, Chris Maico Schmidt’s remix catapults "Carpe Diem" straight onto the heart of the dancefloor. Schmidt infuses the track with a powerful, hypnotic drive, amplifying its rhythmic intensity and creating an irresistible groove.

Technically, Schmidt’s remix introduces punchier kick drums layered with deep, rolling sub-bass frequencies, providing a solid foundation for club environments. The percussive elements are more pronounced, featuring intricate hi-hat patterns and syncopated claps that maintain a relentless energy. Modulated synth stabs and subtle filter sweeps add dynamic movement, keeping dancers engaged through evolving textures.

One of the standout aspects of the remix is the way Schmidt manipulates the original’s hookline. By applying delay effects and reverb, he transforms the melody into a swirling, ethereal motif that ebbs and flows within the mix. This approach not only pays homage to Diskovic’s work but also recontextualizes it, offering a fresh perspective that is both captivating and dancefloor-ready.

A Release That Resonates

Together, Mile Diskovic’s original composition and Chris Maico Schmidt’s remix form a release that invites both reflection and movement. "Carpe Diem" is an auditory reminder to seize the day, to find beauty in impermanence, and to dance as if life’s soundtrack is as infinite as the memories we cherish.

Whether you’re lost in thought with the original mix or surrendering to the hypnotic drive of the remix, "Carpe Diem" leaves behind an echo—a smile that remains, even after the silence has begun.
