[item value="10"]Superstrings - NEON DUSK PROTOCOL [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]SUPERSTRINGS’ “NEON DUSK PROTOCOL” is a masterclass in modern trance production, channeling the euphoric energy of the genre’s late 90s and early 2000s golden era with precision and authenticity. From the first kick, the rhythm locks into a relentless 143 BPM pulse, establishing a groove that immediately grips the body. The rhythmic foundation is tight and propulsive, ensuring both club and festival suitability. Layered percussion and subtle syncopation enhance the sense of drive, while clever use of sidechain compression gives the track a breathing, pumping effect that keeps the energy flowing seamlessly. The melodic construction is equally impressive, with shimmering arpeggios, lush pads, and harmonic layers that intertwine to form a euphoric soundscape. The lead hook emerges gradually from a bed of soft atmospheric textures, creating an emotional build that resonates deeply with listeners. This meticulous attention to transitions and drops ensures that each peak lands with impact. The breakdowns are cinematic and immersive, using reverb and spatial effects to create a vast, cathedral-like atmosphere before the drop hits with uplifting, full-frequency power. Production quality is pristine, showcasing expert sound design and a dynamic mix. High-frequency elements are crisp yet never harsh, while the sub-bass and kick interplay perfectly to maintain loudness without sacrificing clarity. Originality shines through in the arrangement, which balances nostalgia with innovation. Clever use of automated filters, pitch modulation, and stereo imaging adds depth and movement, contributing to a sense of forward momentum and story-driven cohesion. The track’s vocal snippets—minimal yet emotive—enhance the lyrical resonance and give an almost human voice to its soaring instrumental narrative. From a wellness perspective, “NEON DUSK PROTOCOL” demonstrates the proven benefits of trance and high-BPM electronic music on mental health and physical activity. Studies have shown that rhythmic, high-energy music can stimulate endorphin release, improve mood, and enhance exercise performance (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). Its 143 BPM tempo aligns with optimal heart rates for cardio and dance-fitness routines, making it an ideal choice for high-intensity workouts, spinning classes, or even flow-based movement practices like dance meditation. The emotive melodies and cathartic drops support emotional well-being by providing a sense of elation and release, aligning with research on music-induced dopamine responses (Salimpoor et al., 2011). By combining masterful technical production with a powerful emotional core, SUPERSTRINGS has created a track that not only dominates the dance floor but also positively impacts listeners’ psychological and physiological states. Its laserfast builds, euphoric climaxes, and expertly balanced structure ensure high replay value and consistent crowd reactions, confirming its place as a peak-time festival weapon and a therapeutic tool for the mind and body alike. #PureGold Loveit [/content]

[item value="10"]CIS - Funk [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]CIS’s track “Funk” is a masterclass in modern trance and techno fusion, showcasing technical precision and inspired production techniques that have rapidly cemented his reputation in the electronic music scene. At 147 BPM, the track establishes a relentless momentum, with its acid-driven rhythms and hypnotic 303 basslines locking in a groove that is both propulsive and dancefloor-ready. The rhythm and drive are meticulously engineered, with layered percussions that interlock seamlessly to create a forward-moving pulse, while the sub-bass maintains perfect clarity within a balanced dynamic range. This careful loudness management ensures that the energy remains high without listener fatigue, a hallmark of professional sound design. The melodic content of “Funk” is equally compelling, combining tightly written hooks with harmonically rich layers that evolve throughout the track. CIS demonstrates sophisticated control over transitions and build-ups, using risers, filtered effects, and perfectly timed drops to maintain emotional tension and release. The use of spatial design is particularly noteworthy, as reverbs and delays are sculpted to create a three-dimensional sense of immersion while maintaining club and festival readiness. These production choices contribute to a cohesive narrative flow, supporting the track’s storytelling arc from its high-intensity introduction to its satisfying outro. Beyond its technical qualities, “Funk” has profound implications for mental health and wellness, particularly in fitness and group exercise settings. Scientific studies have shown that high-BPM electronic music can improve cardiovascular performance, enhance motor coordination, and stimulate the release of endorphins and dopamine, leading to improved mood and reduced stress levels (Terry et al., 2020; Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The track’s driving energy and harmonic progression can induce flow states, fostering mindfulness and emotional engagement, which are beneficial in both therapeutic and active contexts. Its consistency in cue points and loop potential also makes it highly adaptable for DJs, ensuring smooth integration into live sets and maintaining dynamic energy for optimal crowd engagement. In live environments, the track’s meticulous attention to BPM consistency and structural design ensures it performs flawlessly in professional DJ sets, while its originality and artistic identity distinguish CIS as a rising force in electronic music. “Funk” not only delivers an exceptional auditory experience but also contributes positively to human wellness through its capacity to energize, uplift, and immerse listeners. #PureGold Loveit[/content]

First featured on Thomas Datt's debut artist album 'Picking Up The Pieces'. 'Here and Now' and '1983' were always destined to be singles.

Both now feature for the first time in their full, extended glory including Datt's collaboration with vocalist Ben Heyworth taking pole-position. Ben's superb voice complements perfectly the retro-style production from Datt.

'1983' continues the 80s-theme, this time as an instrumental, combining the chunkiest of basslines with Datt's melodic intricacies.

With remixes just around the corner - this release looks set to grace playlists and turntables well into the European summer.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The outstanding legendary record label Discover Records returns with another top release. Both tracks included are taken from the exceptional album by Thomas Datt and now are released in their extended versions perfect for pure trance dj sets.  Firstly is the exceptional Here and Now featuring the awesome Ben Hayworth on vocal duties. The track itself is a hypnotic melodic progressive trancer that is floating, flowing with awesome hair raising melodies and Ben's intriguing indie rock style vocals that elevate the track to a higher level.  The 2nd track is  1983   and for sure is another must play Thomas Datt beauty. Progressive trance at its finest with electro inspired basslines, chunky groovy beats, excellent progression of the chords that manage to create the illusion of slowly taking off from the ground reaching the highest skies and feeling the beauty of loosing gravity. The old school synths in the breakdown recall great synthy pop groups of the 80s. The melody pure and simple without excessive effects and based upon simple and effective ingredients that will have impact on your prog trance sets! Love IT
