Jean-Michel Jarre today unveils the final chapter of his OXYGENE trilogy, OXYGENE 3, out now via Sony Music International.

40 years on from the release of his groundbreaking first OXYGENE album, and 20 years on from its sequel, Jarre has now completed the Trilogy with seven new original compositions, titled OXYGENE parts 14-20, to cap off a trailblazing four decades in music.

Jarre followed the same protocol as he did for the original album back in 1976, locking himself in the studio for six straight weeks in order to compose the ultimate chapter to this legendary body of work.
"Oxygene was the meteorite that indeed launched my career 40 years ago… I don’t necessarily like anniversaries that much, but when I was recording Electronica two years ago, I composed a piece of music (now Oxygene Part 19) that made me think about what Oxygene could be if I were to compose it today. So I took the 40th anniversary of the first album as a deadline to push myself to see if I could compose the ultimate chapter of Oxygene. I gave myself six weeks to record it, just like I did for the first album, in order to record everything in one go with the initial approach I had in 1976 working on vinyl side A and side B, a dark side and a sunny side… The idea was not to copy the first album, but rather keeping the dogma of embarking listeners on a journey from beginning to end with different chapters, all linked to each other”, says Jarre.
The last 12 months alone has seen the Godfather of electronic music release an unprecedented three studio albums, with OXYGENE 3 following on from Jarre’s critically-acclaimed two-part Electronica series that featured some of the most iconic musicians in the world. Some of those acts including Moby, Armin van Buuren and Gary Numan have come together on a video to shed light on how OXYGENE affected their lives.
.

Keeping in line with the previous two OXYGENE LPs, the new album further explores the ambivalence between outer space and our own living space, with the album’s artwork in particular of major significance. A take on Michel Granger’s original work for the OXYGENE Part One album, Jarre had a 3D-model of the skull created for the artwork.
“40 years ago, I discovered Michel Granger’s visual universe and immediately felt a total adequacy with the music I was composing. Since then, the cover artwork became famous, like an ecological warning signal, dark and surreal, evoking both outer space and that of our vital living space: this image, for me, has become inseparable from the music. I wanted the Oxygene 3 visual to remain in that same vein, and hence to re-visit Michel Granger’s original work, simply shifting «photographed-like» from another angle, which was exactly aligned with the approach I had to create this new chapter in music. To this end, I asked Michel Granger’s permission to perform a 3D model of his creation in order to change the angle of the visual, which he amicably accepted,” says Jarre.
Coinciding with this milestone release, Jarre has spent the last two months touring extensively on his Electronica World Tour. The tour has seen the Frenchman perform brand new material from OXYGENE 3 at a whole host of arenas, with 37 dates now completed across Europe alone, from London’s vaunted O2 Arena to Helsinki’s renowned Ice Hall. With just one more date left on the tour, Jarre is leaving his biggest show till last, as he prepares to perform in Paris at the AccorHotels Arena on December 12.

OXYGENE 3 is now available to stream and buy on transparent vinyl and CD. Also now available is the Ultimate OXYGENE-Trilogy Box-Set, which combines all three OXYGENE albums on CD and Vinyl, with a coffee-table-book featuring rare photos and notes on the story of OXYGENE included. One of the biggest and most influential artist in the world of electronic music touched down to Leeds First Direct Arena, 13th of October. Jean-Michel Jarre did an extensive UK tour with his latest show Electronica in the main major cities in UK bringing his amazing world of incredible music, lights and visual effects to as many UK fans as possible. The first time that I saw Jean-Michel was at the ADE when was interviewed by Armin van Buuren. In this panel I did a question to him and I asked him how he feels when new DJs and artists remix his classic electronica tracks. I was surprised on how openminded was his answer as he told me that he is happy to listen new remixes of his classics tracks because when a track is released belongs to the public and the fans can do whatever they  wish to do with it. Also in this interview and in the panel followed about the Game Changers I liked Jean-Michel strong stance on how much royalties streaming services like spotify pay to the artists and record labels. What everybody notice in both sessions with him was his fresh youthful progressive innovative and always forward thinking attitude. The second time that I had the chance to see him playing live was at the Bluedot festival underneath the giant telescope. I was blown away from the way that his fantastic show was merged so beautifully with the incredible surrounding of Jodrell Bank Observatory. Electronica for 90 minutes took us for a journey that covered the most important moments in his career and of course new material from his latest Electronica album. When was announced that he will come to Leeds that I'm currently residing I wanted so much to attend and thanks to Matt and Get In Pr I was able to do so. It was my first time at First Direct Arena and I must confess that is definitely  a jewel in the heart of Leeds. Super modern space with very good sound quality that is the ideal space for Jean-Michel to perform his show. As I was able to experience it for a 2nd time I could now focus on the details and find even more enjoyment to it. That means that is one of those shows that you should experience Live more than once to fully grasp all its details and get immersed to the amazing spectacle. It follows how I covered the show on the official Flux BPM Online twitter account as the show was unfolding in front of my curious and highly respective eyes and brain that had to be aware to enjoy every little single detail of such a mind opening experience.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Electronica is definitely one of the shows that prove how relevant for the new generation of electronic music followers is still Jean Michel Jarre. The idea to incorporate and merge new material with classic well known melodies keep the audience focused in the show that has fantastic flow and direction. It is one of those cases that you wish to last the whole night and not just 90 minutes. The spectacle is so intense and innovative that your eyes and brain will find overwhelming to process all the visual and sonic information straight away. There are moments of sadness, joy and happiness and Jean-Michel encourages the audience to take part and interact with the music by dancing of course something that the audience really enjoyed doing at the end when the video for his forthcoming album was recorded. Electronica is a highly recommended show and personally I voted it as the very best of  2016. #PureGold[/content]

JEAN-MICHEL JARRE has been one of the pioneering forces of the electronic music scene over the past four decades, having originally made his name in the 1970s for his critically acclaimed album OXYGENE.

OXYGENE was without doubt one of the biggest catalysts that set electronic music on its way to becoming the behemoth that it is today, with Jean-Michel’s music and follow-through albums breaking down boundaries of composing and production, paving the path for what has become today the most popular genre of music of all time. With over 80 million albums sold worldwide to date, musicians and contemporary DJs often refer to Jarre's influence and innovation, citing OXYGENE as the album that changed it all for them.

On December 2, Jarre will release the final chapter of the OXYGENE Trilogy via Sony Music. With the first album released in 1977 and OXYGENE 2 released in 1997, OXYGENE 3 not only celebrates the 40th anniversary of the all-time classic, but also marks the final chapter of the ground-breaking Trilogy.

Much like its predecessors, OXYGENE 3 is a 40-minute, one-take masterpiece celebrating Electronic Music as its best. Jarre’s inspiration for the newly added parts on OXYGENE 3 was not to go back in time, but to add a sense of “now” to his iconic piece of work. It’s a state-of-the-art recording, embracing both classic and modern ways of music production.

“Oxygene Pt. 17 is the first single and a  bright moment of the album: I wanted to create a groove with the melodic part on its own and to also create the real feel of a spacey trip - which is what Oxygene is all about - and with minimalist drums. What made and makes Oxygene different, is probably that an important part of the sound is made of white noise, creating a hazy atmosphere. It is ironic to think back in time when everybody was obsessed by improving the signal to noise ratio, that I used so much noise as part of my music”. – Jean-Michel Jarre

Today, Jarre reveals a stunning, otherworldly video for Oxygene Pt. 17, which you can watch here:

With intermittent sequences showing Jarre in the spectacular setting of his Electronica World Tour, the timeless innovator has continued to push boundaries with this latest visual project, encapsulating our fascinating world and the rapidly advancing role of technological modernization. Emphasizing The SETI Institute and its relentless quest to contact alien life amid our ever-expanding universe, Jarre layers melody, pulsating synths and vibrant basslines throughout the video’s duration. Flashing between clips of mankind's greatest achievements, namely space travel, mass infrastructure and computers, the 3-minute compilation ends with a bold statement connecting Jarre's International Release of OXYGENE IV with SETI's widely controversial detection of the 'Wow! Signal' in August of 1977, just days later.

Somewhat alluding to a potential cosmic event to coincide with the impending release of OXYGENE 3, Jarre isn't ready to discount SETI's role in our swiftly advancing society. The album will feature 7 heavily melodic cuts (OXYGENE 14-20), and ideally bring listeners to a space not too dissimilar from OXYGENE 17's vibrant visuals.

To further accompany the release of OXYGENE 3 and his on-going Electronica World Tour, Jean-Michel has shared a unique series of clips, which provide a first hand insight to his vision on music, playing live and more. You can watch the #JMJSERIES below.

OXYGENE 3 will be available worldwide on December 2, and will officially complete one of Electronic Music’s  legacy’s body of work commenced 40 years ago.

Just when the collaborator list for Jean-Michel Jarre’s upcoming ‘Electronica Vol. 2: The Heart of Noise’ couldn’t get any more diverse, it can now be revealed that none other than Edward Snowden will join proceedings as the final name to feature on the project.

Originally announced on the album as just ‘ES’, Snowden - the whistleblower behind one of the biggest revelations of classified documents in history - contributes to the 5th track on ‘The Heart of Noise’, titled, ‘Exit’, and it’s available to stream on all platforms now.

Collaborating from Snowden’s delivery of his core message, Jarre layers and sculpts the American’s words around a driving techno beat that conjures up a grand sense of chase. The release of the track also coincides with an exclusive track story that has been made available to watch now. Having debuted via The Guardian earlier today, fans can see both Jarre and Snowden speaking with one another in the video about music, politics, privacy and more.

UN Ambassador for UNESCO and activist for Human Rights, Jarre has tirelessly campaigned over the years for the right to free speech, and his collaboration with Snowden reveals yet another side to the multi-faceted Godfather of Electronic Music.

Speaking on ‘Exit’, Jarre said, “I wrote a speedy techno track evoking the constant and hectic production of data and the obsessive quest for more information. I then linked the music with this mad hunt and chase in order to get hold of people like Edward Snowden.

One of the recurrent themes of Electronica Vol. 1 & 2 is the ambiguous relationship we have with technology. On one side we have the world in our pocket and on the other side, the world is spying on us constantly. Edward Snowden became a modern hero, not by saying ‘stop’, but to be careful regarding the (ab)use of technology. Our future needs brave people like him.”

Snowden also had his say behind the name of the track, adding, “You have a choice and ‘Exit’, whether it’s used as a noun or a verb, is something which we pursue. It’s something where we direct ourselves. It’s about an action which may change everything from where we are to another direction, a departure to somewhere else.”

‘Vol. 2: The Heart of Noise’, will be officially released on May 6, 2016, via Sony Music International and is the follow up to the widely lauded ‘Vol. 1: The Time Machine’ LP. With music across both volumes from the Pet Shop Boys, Primal Scream, Pete Townshend, Julia Holter, Lang Lang, Cyndi Lauper, Laurie Anderson, AIR and Peaches to name but a few, Jean-Michel Jarre has assembled his very own dream team of artists to collaborate with across ‘Electronica’. Those who pre-order Vol. 2 will also receive three instant downloads from Jarre’s collaborations with Rone (‘The Heart of Noise’) and Peaches (‘What You Want’) in addition to ‘Exit’.

About ULTRA WORLDWIDE™

ULTRA WORLDWIDE™ is the global edition of the World’s Premier Electronic Music event, ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL.

The ULTRA brand was founded in 1997 by Executive Producer, President & CEO Russell Faibisch, and began producing electronic music events in South Florida, which led to the inaugural Ultra Music Festival in 1999 on the sands of Miami Beach.

The internationally renowned festival, which has taken place every March since its inception, celebrated its seventeenth anniversary from March 27-29, 2015 by bringing over 165,000 music enthusiasts to the sold out waterfront event in the heart of the City of Miami. Ultra Music Festival returns to Bayfront Park for its eighteenth annual edition, 18-20 March 2016.

Choosing to follow a unique, creative vision and a wholly organic growth focused around a true love for music, artists and fans alike, the ULTRA and ULTRA Worldwide™ brands represent not only the world’s biggest and most successful remaining INDEPENDENT electronic music festival brand, they are now the most international of any festival brand in the world by far. The event organizers continue to transport the unrivalled experience from the Miami flagship festival to an ever-growing number of destinations and fans all over the globe.

Over the past eighteen years, literally thousands of the world’s most iconic DJs, producers and live acts have mesmerized audiences with awe-inspiring sets at ULTRA festivals in ARGENTINA, BALI, BRAZIL, CHILE, CROATIA, IBIZA, JAPAN, KOREA, SOUTH AFRICA and of course MIAMI, as well as ROAD TO ULTRA® events in BOLIVIA, CHILE, COLOMBIA, MACAU, PARAGUAY, PERU, THE PHILIPPINES, PUERTO RICO, SEOUL, SINGAPORE, TAIWAN, THAILAND, TOKYO and the USA. Each and every new global edition is founded on the same successful recipe that has been perfected over eighteen years in Miami, combining the most diverse electronic talent with the most technologically advanced, large-scale festival productions in the world.

In addition, the ULTRA brands pioneered the live stream experience, ‘ULTRA LIVE’ (whereby the festival is brought online to over 20 million unique viewers globally) and the audio broadcasting platform ‘UMF RADIO’ (syndicated to FM Radio in over 77 countries and reaching more than 22 million listeners weekly). Also UMF FILMS’ collaboration with FINAL KID has seen some of the most visually breathtaking festival aftermovies in the music space, including a feature-length documentary exploring the explosion of dance music, entitled CAN U FEEL IT, which premiered at the Ultra Music Festival, Miami 2012 and was exhibited in over 500 theaters across the Unites States.

2016 will see the ULTRA and ULTRA WORLDWIDE™ brands continue to push the boundaries even further, bringing an unparalleled combination of cutting edge productions and the world’s best electronic acts back to previous strongholds and new frontiers across the globe. With a brand new edition of ULTRA Brasil confirmed to take place in Rio de Janeiro in October 2016, ULTRA Singapore becoming a full scale two-day festival in September and with ROAD TO ULTRA® entering Hong Kong later this year, the ULTRA brand has now united TWENTY COUNTRIES across FIVE CONTINENTS worldwide.  After claiming his second Beatport #1 in just over a year with the rave scene-inspired anthem ‘ACIIID’, MOGUAI wastes no time in bringing out another monumental release. Always committed to giving his fans the freshest sounds possible, ‘THE FUTURE’ adds a different flavor to his revamped label PUNX Records with a more progressive house feel compared to the high-octane, harder-hitting releases we’ve been treated to over recent months. Head over to Beatport now to grab your copy! click here

Throughout a successful career at the forefront of electronic music, MOGUAI has combined his wealth of experience, taste and talent on each and every one of his creations. ‘The Future’ is no different. Full of the biggest synth builds, juddering bass and driving beats, it shows one of the many sides to this multi-faceted producer and the ease with which he can skillfully move from style-to-style. As he sets off on tour in South America before plunging head first into the European summer festival season, there’ll be many opportunities to hear ‘The Future’ as it’s intended to be – through a massive club sound system or main stage speaker stack – so don’t miss out.

Further exciting releases are set to come out on PUNX this year as well as some tantalizing collaborations with friends and fellow dance music heavyweights such as Tiësto, Amba Shepherd and Kaskade, so expect more unique, innovative and inspirational material as each of these drop. To stay ahead of the curve with the best tunes featuring in MOGUAI’s DJ sets at the moment, as well as the best of the rest in dance music, check out the ‘Punx Up The Volume’ Radio Show. Available for free from his official SoundCloud page, you can also subscribe to the podcast series through iTunes.
