Armada University Masterclass ADE 2024 - Lilly Palmer
Armada University Masterclass ADE 2024 - Maxim Lany
1) Cosmic Gate x Maxim Lany - The Drums (Original Mix)
2) Cosmic Gate x Maxim Lany - The Drums (Extended Mix)
A first release holds a special place in an artist’s heart, but it’s also one (paradox-alert!) that they return to on rarer occasions. Case in point Cosmic Gate and their 1999 debut, ‘The Drums’ – a track thunderbolt they’ve not touched hands to since its first release.
Notably, it’s also rarely been given remix blessing either, with close to a decade and a half elapsing since Markus Schulz primed one for CG’s ‘Back 2 The Future’ album. So, when Maxim Lany reached out to Nic and Bossi to propose a rework of ‘The Drums’, it turned into a healthy back-and-forth on what direction it’d go in. Maxim’s remix game is of course way tight, with his work already gracing the discogs of Anjunadeep. Zerothree, REALM and others. With discussion concluded, green lights given, and stems received, the Ghent born-and-based DJ/producer began conjuring up some of his studio magic!
What Maxim’s arrived with though probably qualifies less as a remix in the classic sense and more as a ‘translation’ of ‘The Drums’. It retains all the spirit, essence and floor oomph of CG’s original, but pares back its harder, angular edges, recoding them as leaner, sleeker, more progressive sonics. Maxim and Cosmic Gate ‘double debuted’ ‘The Drums’ as part of their Tomorrowland 2024 sets, with its ‘Booming’ reaction giving the invested parties all the ‘mission-accomplished’ news they needed!
“Come With Me To The Cosmic Gate” introduced us both to ‘The Drums’ and CG themselves, and now Maxim Lany’s rewinding us back to where it all began! ‘The Drums’ beat deep today - find them wherever good music is streamed or sold!
Dimitris Kechagias Review: [review top="1"] [item value="10"]Cosmic Gate x Maxim Lany - The Drums [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]When Cosmic Gate emerged in the 90s, their sound was revolutionary and visionary. It blended hard trance with heavy bass and raw percussion, accompanied by ethereal melodies and mysterious, cool spoken vocals. Now, in 2024, the ever-innovative artist Maxim Lany breathes new life into the classic “The Drums.” He transforms it into a hypnotic sci-fi techno masterpiece, featuring the captivating female spoken vocals that evoke the 90s rave classic’s vibe and resonate with the current dancefloor’s energy. Maxim possesses the extraordinary ability to infuse his creations with pure gold, making them irresistible to international dance ambassadors. While his sound is distinct, it remains deeply rooted in the original’s essence. #PureGold Love IT![/content]

Out now on Anjunabeats: Kasablanca - Lucid Audio Remixed
Celebrated melodic techno duo Kasablanca release the remix package of their second EP on Anjunabeats, ‘Lucid Audio’.
Kasablanca exploded onto the scene in summer 2020 with their collaboration with Lane 8, ‘Run’. What followed was a dream run: their debut album ‘Human Learning’, a Juno Award-nominated collaboration with Bob Moses in ‘Afterglow’, and joining us at Anjunabeats to release the ‘Immunity EP’, as well as remixing Above & Beyond’s ‘Black Room Boy’ as part of the ‘10 Years of Group Therapy’ celebrations.
This year, the duo completed their ‘Am I Dreaming?’ tour, which took them to eight sold-out venues across North America, plus festival appearances in Brazil and India. Their live show (best described as Justice meets Queen meets Stephan Bodzin) is more comparable to a full-on performance like a rock show than a typical clubbing experience, replete with Prince-esque swagger and an extensive rig of analogue synthesizers on stage. They recently supported Above & Beyond at their sold-out Printworks London takeover, and will soon join our Anjunafamily pilgrimage to the Gorge for Group Therapy Weekender.
‘Lucid Audio’ earned support from the likes of Massano, Oliver Heldens, Don Diablo, Armin van Buuren, Vintage Culture, James Hype, R3HAB, Lane 8, and Benny Benassi, racking up over 3.5M total worldwide streams to date. Stellar remixes of tracks from the EP soon followed: Korolova’s take on ‘Am I Dreaming?’ featured in Spotify’s New Music Friday Dance and Mint Canada playlists; Øostil’s rework of ‘Am I Dreaming?’ saw spins from David Guetta, Cosmic Gate, Gabriel & Dresden, Gitman and beyond.
New additions to the remix package include melodic house producer Dokho’s twist on ‘Dream About You’, Belgian artist Maxim Lany’s rework of 'Crucible', and rising talent CVMRN’s take on 'In Sequence'.
This October, Kasablanca are set to return to Red Rocks Amphitheater with Above & Beyond and embark on a 16-date tour across North America. Tickets on sale now:
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Kasablanca is forward thinking production and DJ duo with impressive back catalogue and releases in the most authoritative labels. Lucid Audio was an exceptional EP that is now is Remixed from the most happening artists. Firstly Maxim Lany takes Crucible in his dark driving melodic techno meets trance and prog house territory packed with metallic futuristic basslines, energetic kicks and punchy percussion along with big distorted dystopian synths. The result is a hypnotic transcending version that has huge dancefloor potential. Dokho version of ‘Dream About You' is dreamy sugar sweet chilling melodic house version with early morning Ibiza sunrise moments like the warm piano chords and tropical house touches at the back of your head. CVMRN goes for the most upfront version with fat techno kicks, driving moody basslines, thumping drums, big synthy layers throughout and the cool Underworld style vocal that recalls Born Slippy. Superb remixes that push the originals to the next level ready for the big room stages of the autumn/winter 2023 and beyond. #PureGold Love iT[/content]
