A worldwide gift, available on December 1st, brought to you by Tomorrowland

2015 was a magical year: Tomorrowland celebrated its 11th edition in Boom and set up a live link to Mexico and India. The first edition of Tomorrowland in Brazil was an unprecedented success and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had a special message for the People of Tomorrow. All these spectacular, meaningful moments form the common thread in the movie This Was Tomorrow that will be launched on December 1st on www.tomorrowland.com

‘THIS WAS TOMORROW, THE MOTION PICTURE OF A MAGNIFICENT YEAR’ is not just any film: it's the documentary created for the big screen that encompasses all the highlights of Tomorrowland 2015 and includes the most beautiful stories from the People of Tomorrow. It is a film in which it's all about the experience and the viewer is immersed in the ‘the world of tomorrow’. Each character has his own fascinating story. Each of them brings a unique perspective, resulting in multi layered content that we intersperse with party footage and musical intermezzos.

The film opens with an epic sequence of abstract slo-mo shots and drone-footage of the highlights of the three festivals (Tomorrowland Belgium, TomorrowWorld USA and Tomorrowland Brasil), backed up by a cinematic, classical score that enthrals the viewer. This is the beginning of a journey…

Next comes a sequence in which we discover Brazil. We bring  the country that  hosted its first edition in 2015 to life in all its diversity. The white beaches of Ipanema, the mighty Amazon, the drum-bands of Salvador de Bahia, the kites in the favela of Rocinha, the samba-dancers, the sweeping plains of Minas Gerais, the surfers, footballers, etc…  Followed by a whole series of great stories from around the world: the Brazilian DJ Felipe Tampa is featured in the film, as well as DJ Marky, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, Tiesto, Dave Clark, Pete Tong, Josh Wink, Ghost, Sven Van Hees, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix... not to mention a few notable People of Tomorrow. There's the future doctor Anna Carolina, the Argentinians Bruno & Macarena who travelled 3500 km on foot to experience Tomorrowland Brazil, Kyleigh & Courtney, deaf girls at the festival, Duda Matar who brings colour to the favelas in Brazil and the American Steve the aeroplane builder.

Dance music’s month of July is traditionally populated with a plethora of festivals, and none come bigger than the Beglian-hosting Tomorrowland. Markus Schulz has played a starring role at the event in recent years, with a record breaking 12 hours in 2013 and a collective 16 hours across two weekends in 2014. And for this year, he has been specifically assigned a starring role at the festival’s main stage - performing the Daybreak Sessions on the Sunday.

The role therefore made the much-loved travelled DJ’s choice of production to mark July’s city series entry an easy one, with the track in particular paying homage to the art of his extended sets, encapsulated in the grand outdoor ambiance.

Daybreak has been an ever present in every open to close solo set from Markus for quite some time, and became a notorious ID through multiple appearances on Global DJ Broadcast and beyond. With a driving bassline combined with an addictive melody of varying emotions, Daybreak will have plenty of suitors for the summer.

The Daybreak at Tomorrowland in the city of Boom awaits, as the second half of Markus Schulz’s complimented city-series concept begins.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The always fantastic Markus Schulz is back this year the best festival in the world Tomorrowland that is organised in the picturesque city of Boom near Antwerp in Belgium. This year will perform the final set at the TranceAddict stage and on Sunday he will open the proceedings at the mainstage set with his 3 hours long Daybreak session. For this very special occasion he produced Daybreak dedicated to the city of Boom. The track is a powerful energetic mainstage trancer with heavy bouncy groove, driving energetic basslines and hypnotic melodies that manage slowly to uplift you and push your senses to the highest dimension. Its very well produced with aggressive and melodic emotional sides to it perfect to welcome on the mainstage the audience and build the anticipation for the whole day and the coming dj sets. Daybreak is prime time trancer that creates to your mind that illusion of something bigger coming and opening possibilities that anything can happen. Very promising and feel good to the maximum record that will do the damage without doubts. #PureGold Love It

Says Dave Clarke: “I can't wait to come back to Belgium and host a stage at the World's most successful festival

ABOUT DAVE CLARKE
He may be known as The Baron Of Techno, a moniker given to him by renowned BBC Radio DJ / journalist John Peel, but Dave Clarke has an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul, having no truck with establishment figures or authoritarianism.

A hard working purist, forward thinking futurist, technology geek, part Gothic and gadget lover who embraced the digital revolution in an early stage while his peers where still sniffing the smell of vinyl, a format he hasn’t used professionally in eleven years. It’s unsurprising he revels in the libertarianism of the World Wide Web. It gives symmetry to his savvy techno vision.

As a talented DJ and producer Dave Clarke will continue his newfound love for making music, gather air miles by the gallon and preach his vision on techno both on the decks and on the radio, whilst never forgetting the long and bumpy journey he had to undertake to get where he is now: on top of the game, respected by both fans and peers and very much relevant in today’s scene. “He might be established, but he will never be establishment”. www.daveclarke.com

ABOUT TOMORROWLAND
This year over 400 artists will once again be appearing on the various colourful stages that have been constructed in the spectacular festival park De Schorre in Boom. For three whole days, 180,000 visitors will immerse themselves in a magical world. The fairytale decor, gigantic dance valley, incredible fireworks and the best DJs in the world will provide an experience like no other. Tomorrowland is being held from 24 - 16 July 2015.

The festival that started in 2005 as a one-day event already had its first edition on foreign soil in 2013: TomorrowWorld in Chattahoochee Hills (Atlanta, Georgia). 140,000 visitors found their way to this magical site in the United States. The originally Belgian festival will once again be living The American Dream this year when the festival is held there for the second time on the last weekend of September 2014. www.tomorrowland.com

Tomorrowland 2015 announces first headliner :

"The Symphony of Unity"
by The National Orchestra of Belgium
under the Conductorship of Stefan Blunier

For the next two weeks, each day Tomorrowland will unveil a different headlining act who will be performing on 24, 25 & 26 July. Once again, it promises to be an incredible musical extravaganza, featuring local DJs, up-and-coming producers, major names, breakthrough talent and flamboyant megastars.

On Sunday 26 July, the DJ booth on the phenomenal Opera stage will be handed over to 80 live musicians. The National Orchestra of Belgium, with guest conductor Stefan Blunier, will perform a unique symphony composed specially for Tomorrowland in which classical and electronic music will be confronted and transformed into an unprecedented performance. Add to the experience the breathtaking Tomorrowland decor and the result will be an unforgettable meeting of two musical genres. It's bound to be one of the absolute highlights of the festival weekend.

The Symphony of Unity is part of the new theme announced earlier this month: Melodia will be the common thread throughout this 11th edition of the festival.

Stefan Blunier
Stefan Blunier, guest conductor for the NOB: "Music brings people closer together, regardless of age or background. There are so many different ways to experience music: dancing, singing, composing, or just listening, and it gives you such a warm feeling. Like artists around the whole world, we try to bring a positive message across to the audience. Whether the music is electronic or symphonic, as an artist you always try to speak to people's emotions. I like to think of music as a diamond with different facets. And each time you turn the diamond, another facet sparkles. Like this, music has many sides, each with its own specific qualities."

Last year, legendary DJs such as Dave Clarke, Carl Cox, Martin Solveig and Paul Kalkbrenner had the honour of inaugurating the impressive, brand-new opera stage. The stage is structured like an opera house and in its walls, it incorporates photographs and anecdotes from the past ten years of Tomorrowland. The National Orchestra of Belgium will be appearing onstage this year with an 80-piece orchestra to play a one-hour live mix of diverse classical works &  electronic classics. The NOB has previously worked with major names in the opera world such as Bryn Terfel, Roberto Alagna, Johan Kaufmann and Anna Netrebko, although the Opera at Tomorrowland will probably be a touch more colourful and exotic.

"With our Orchestra, we want to build a bridge to the audience of the next generation. We support many initiatives involving young people and in this way we hope to carve out a place for ourselves in a society that's constantly changing. In the past ten years, Tomorrowland has put Belgium on the map and as the national concert orchestra, we are delighted to be able to make our contribution. Plus, it's a fun challenge for us to get a play for the People of Tomorrow," says Stefan Blunier.

Hans Zimmer

Last year, the renowned composer Hans Zimmer created the classic Tomorrowland hymn. This hymn that he composed specially for Tomorrowland will also be incorporated into The Symphony of Unity.

The hymn for Tomorrowland once again demonstrates that music is universal and brings people together, regardless of age, language or culture. Each year, people from all around the globe gather in Belgium for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Tomorrowland welcomes more different nationalities than the Olympic Games, making Tomorrowland the most international event in the world. But the People of Tomorrow all speak the same language, the language of music, of course.

Saturday the 25th of July, Cocoon will be hosting a vinyl only stage at Tomorrowland. Get ready for Sven Väth and his musical family.
