1. Amir Hussain - Bombshell [Digital Society Recordings]

One of my favourite guys in the scene recently is back with another top class production on Digital Society Recordings, following on from his great remix of Lewis Duggleby & Mark Landragin's 'Rotation' and his huge track 'Ethica' from earlier this year. Bombshell starts with clean, well-balanced percussion and a warm, rumbling bassline before a bubbly, energetic chorded lead makes its way in with nice, euphoric female vocal phrases in the backdrop. As the chords begin to evolve and progress towards the breakdown, the euphoria and atmosphere gives us a taster of what is to come. The breakdown is met with welcoming, sparkly arppegios and the full chord sequence that is just calling for hands to be put up in the air. A cheeky pre-drop with a shortened kick gets the energy building before the kick filters down into a kick roll with suspenseful risers, then the full climax soars in all its glory. A no-nonesense, powerful, driving trance track from an exceptional talent!

2. Dreamy - Once A Lifetime [Price Trance Records]

The track is included on Uplifting Only 182

It was a pleasant surprise to receive a two-track promo from Dreamy in my inbox the other week, this one featured a floaty uplifting track as well as a darker, harder track under his Dark Matter alias. I personally preferred the former, as it has a nice heavenly atmosphere about it and a simple yet effective supersaw lead melody. The FX are on point, the pads create the perfect background atmosphere and the chord progression carries plenty of emotion. A very uplifting track from the Danish powerhouse that I gladly got to meet and watch perform at Luminosity Beach Festival this year!

3. Levekar Feat. Cassandra Grey - Darkest Light [Emergent Skies]

On the newly formed label Emergent Skies is Levekar aka one third of the short-lived Area51 project from Egypt with 'Darkest Light'. Showing he has an excellent ear and technical prowess in making quality, driving trance music. This vocal outing with up and coming vocalist Cassandra Grey from Lebanon is nothing short of amazing, the reverb used as ambience on her vocals creates an amazing wide atmosphere and the melody is catchy and bursting with life. Hardly any faults to pick with this one and I can see it doing big things on some packed dancefloors, here's to hoping!

4. Local Heroes & Linnea Schossow - Home (Allen & Envy Remix) [Lange Recordings]

Rising Leicester duo Allen & Envy have their own signature sound which is becoming more refined as time passes by, and for me this remix shows them taking another step towards sonic perfection. The intro features nicely layered wide mid basses before their characteristically warm offbeat sub bass is introduced with low key arpeggios and pluck patterns. Some nice reverse reverb FX on the vocals lead into the opening verse of Linnea Schossow's excellent breathy vocals. The phrase 'to feel at home' is called and some emotive, soaring pads establish the anthemic chord progression that is to showcase the chorus. The breakdown drops down to a sensitive and delicate level with excellently placed, spacious leads with Linnea singing the bridge and main chorus. Building up to the huge drop are crash cymbals, kick rolls and sweeps that fill out the frequency spectrum and unleash the power in the climax with maximum impact. A really nice balance between tough beats with a solid foundation and soft, floaty, leads and quality vocals!

Additional info:

5. Miroslav Vrlik & Martin Jurenka - Reach Me (Extended Mix) [Always Alive Recordings]

Using interesting FX to start things off is Always Alive regular Miroslav Vrlik alongside Martin Jurenka, with driving hats and splashy rides in the intro of 'Reach Me' before bringing in lush atmospheric sounds and rising white noise FX. Well-designed acid sounds pan across the stereo field with snare fills separating 8 and 16 bar sections to keep things fresh, and his quintessential female vocal cries are there to add the icing on the cake. As the breakdown approaches, we are met with some lovely warm pads and side-chained, filtered down vocal FX. Tasty piano touches add to the textured lead melody that makes the listener recognise they are in for a treat as things build towards the climax. A pronounced pitch riser takes hold of things along with the snare and kick rolls before filter cutoffs open and bass in unleashed to bring out the lovely, floating Miroslav style once more. A top-class uplifter executed in style for me!

2.Alex Wright - Maiyano (Original Mix) [Blue Soho recordings]

Rising UK producer Alex Wright provides the next instalment on Blue Soho.

Whenever you see Alex Wright's name on a release you know it is a guarantee of quality although with 'Maiyano, Alex has taken this one step further producing one of the potential anthems of the summer.

Alex supplies one of the finest debuts we have heard in some time that delivers where it really matters. Maiyano is packed full clever flow, delicate breakdown and rip roaring melody that will take clubs by storm over the coming months, this is vintage style trance at its very best.

3.Alex Wright & Valiant - Playa Dorada [Emergent Shores]

Bringing sun-kissed, beachy vibes to the shores is uplifting trance talent Alex Wright and his university friend Kieran Johnson aka Valiant from Nottingham, UK with their track ‘Playa Dorada’. This chilled, melodically driven adventure interweaves layer upon layer of interesting counter melodies together with skill to allow for a blissed out breakdown before building into a rewarding, up tempo main section.

Bringing his signature warmth and class to proceedings with the first remix is none other than Talamanca, using elegant pianos and vocal refrains to add a bit of extra flavour to the sonic palette, with top notch production values and sound design. Giving a more energetic angle on the original theme is Maglev, with clubbier groove elements and a mesmerising, impressively atmospheric breakdown.

A perfect soundtrack for summer with all three angles of the progressive sound, here is ‘Playa Dorada’.

Dreamy - Empathy [Veritas Recordings]
Danish talent Jack Aiman  aka Dreamy is always delivering the goods on no matter what label he chooses. This time he gives us a taste of his energetic pure side building up excitement with driving percussion, rumbling rolling bass, and uplifting melodic touches. A thrashing ride part adds extra fizzle to the groove along with ascending acid squeels. On to the break and a skybourne, uplifting chord progression is released with airy piano notes and an anthemic rhythm chord part to take things into the climax. Empathy has plenty of power and a very tight mixdown, making it perfect for the clubs and melodic 140 lovers!

Additional info:

Josh Oshima - Voyage [Silent Shore White]
An impressively balanced production here by Josh, blending pulsing rolling basslines with tough drums and an uplifting, almost swingy main melody in the climax. He adds an industrial sort of atmosphere to the backdrop whilst keeping things sounding squeaky clean with impressive transitions and plenty of drive. The breakdown builds plenty of excitement with a nice piano section and rising arpeggios and pads. A really good track that is on the slightly tougher side but still remains bright and uplifting.

Additional info:

Plutian - Knights Of Cygnus (Allen Belg Remix) [Levitated Music]
The original mix of this track by the consistent talent from South Korea is something to be admired, however this remix by Tunisia's newcomer Allen Belg caught my ear due to its beautiful melancholic take on the track's themes. The way this guy uses his basslines to create a deep, moody, groovy that drives along the percussion tracks and beautiful arpeggiated melodies he creates is exactly to my taste and despite the production being raw, I think this guy shows a lot of promise with his compositions. The break shows his skill at creating interesting textures and sophisticated melodic touches whilst keeping that warm, atmospheric vibe that old Anjunabeats releases gave me. As this guy is also a drummer, you can hear his influence from other genres in his leads which resemble something similar to an electric guitar. A very satisfying take on Plutian's banger of an uplifter here, more tracks in this style please!

Additional info:

Skysound, Simon Moon & Naeba - Sundown (Architect Remix) [Beyond Belief Recordings]
Offering a great alternative to Skysound, Simon Moon & Naeba's track 'Sundown' is Argentine duo Architect, showing how they can lift a track into the heavens with their own style and atmosphere. The intro is nice and uplifting, foreshadowing the magnificent breakdown that boasts huge pad layers and a tense build which holds the final chord and brings in percussion gradually alongside snare rolls and eventual return to the start of the rewarding chord sequence. The lead is brilliant in the main section giving off an epic feel and has plenty of oomph to it, massive production.

Suncatcher - Clue Is In The Title [Always Alive Recordings]
Romanian veteran Suncatcher is a producer / DJ I admire greatly and I fortunately had the chance to meet him at this year's Luminosity Beach Festival. Here he brings back the uplifting vibe that he does best, great sound design as always with expertly EQd basslines and interesting FX. A nice vocal chop carries things through in the intro before a bleep signals the oncoming rise of the chord progression in the breakdown. His harmonically distorted wobbly sounds and tight plucks add a great flavour to this one, and it just screams "hands in the air". Check out his cool guitar-like arpeggiated lead before the buildup too which transitions epically into a massive climax. One of his highlights during his set at this year's Luminosity Beach Festival for sure!

Guest Reviewer Alex Wright ahead of his monthly radio show Trance Encounters that is streamed every first Friday of the month on 1mix radio  presents his top 5 anthems for April 2016. He describes in his own words why these tracks have attracted his attention as professionally educated music producer and most importantly trance fan. Enjoy reading them and put in your dairy to listen his radio show.

Ciaran McAuley - Isla [Digital Society Recordings]
This guy's been on fire as of late pushing his own trademark sound that feels organic and natural in the way that it's produced. Full of warmth and satisfying melodies, his latest track 'Isla' was recently supported on A State Of Trance radio show and came second in the Future Favourite poll (one place in front of my own track 'Galactica'). His style has everything that a proper uplifting record should have, without trying to emulate the boshiness of the new generation of uplifting with maximized energy but rather focusing on the soul of the music with beautiful chord progressions and angelic female vocal refrains. This is music for blissed out summer weather which shouldn't be too far round
the corner! (Hopefully.)

Daniel Kandi & Zack Mia - Sector 7 [Always Alive Recordings]
Coming back to the front line of his own label, Mr. Daniel Kandi has delivered another spotless production alongside the great up and coming talent Zack Mia. A nice tough groove gets things started with a classic rolling bassline to boot, and nice atmospherics swirl around in the backstage with spacious supersaws lining the sonic spectrum with anticipation of what is to come in the break. Subtle soft arps and vocal pads build up the excitement before the huge pads open and give way to a very catchy main hook line. This one shines bright as an outstanding uplifter and is bound to set a huge smile upon anybody's face, particularly on a buzzing dancefloor!

Gautum Khaw - Moonglade (Sam Laxton's Moonshine Remix) [Beyond Belief Recordings]
Another newcomer to the scene is Sam Laxton from Newcastle, previously known for making tight and impressive Dubstep and Electro House but has recently turned his hand to the sound of pure uplifting trance. After releasing a massive track called 'The Rise' on Solarstone's Pure Trance label, he has been selected for remix duties on Amos & Riot Night's very own Beyond Belief Recordings. Boasting clean drums and tight basslines in the intro, he raises the energy with a soft and subtle pluck melody and smooth pads before winding things down into a light piano melody line during the break. A great main melody shows that this guy has a great musical ear and stylistically it sits just between the area of energetic and beautiful trance which is what I love the most.

Plutian - Ashgray [Elliptical Sun Energies]
South Korean producer Plutian has been making some excellent tracks as of late and this is another one of them. Currently sitting at number 40 in Beatport's Top 100 Releases chart, 'Ashgray' features floaty underwater melodies and gorgeous airy pads which are complimented by grand string layers and a simple yet effective main pluck. Driving the track along is a crunchy saw bassline which sits nicely in the mix with the punchy groove making this an all-round winner for any uplifting trance fan.

The Ashk One - Paradise (Derek Palmer Remix) [Levitated / Silent Shore recordings]
Also receiving a surprise ASOT airplay this month was my good friend Derek Palmer, who has turned in an expertly produced remix of a lower BPM progressive trance track released on Manuel Rocca's Silent Shore Records sublabel Levitated Music. A tight groove carries this one along with dreamy melodies and breathy vocals, while floaty pads begin to surface their way into the foreground beside soft piano touches. The breakdown in this one is truly to die for, literally taking you to paradise. Pure goosebumps all over from the atmosphere created with the textures that  Derek has so maticulously crafted together, making the climax a proper hands-in-the-air, jump-up-and-down-job. Melodic, uplifting trance served just the way I like it.
