20 years of ADE: from Dutch meet-up to leading global event

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world's leading event for electronic music, will take place from October 14th to 18th in 2015. The international event will be marking its 20th anniversary with a series of special events, and organisers are expecting 365,000 national and international visitors this year.

From primarily Dutch event to international business platform
In 1996, the event, then held at De Balie, started as a business meeting for 300 mainly Dutch music professionals. In the years that followed ADE attracted ever more regular attendance from the European dance market, enabling the event to start to build its place at the centre of a growing international network. These days the conference is globally considered to be the most important of its kind, attracting 5,500 professional visitors from 85 countries, The event brings together significant business potential with the sharing of a broad range of skills and business acumen through sessions and networking events focused on music and technology, VJs & visuals, sustainability, harder dance styles, new talent and the education of students.

From three clubs to the biggest club festival in the world
The first edition of the ADE featured 30 artists in the Paradiso, Melkweg and Escape. But as the electronic scene expanded, the growing need for showcases saw the festival grow steadily, each year ADE attracted ever more visitors and more and more of Amsterdam’s clubs got involved. As dance music began to be a genuine international phenomenon, ADE rapidly developed into the biggest club festival in the world with performances by over 2,200 artists in 85 highly diverse locations around Amsterdam last year. For the 350,000 Festival visitors in 2014, ADE was the ideal place to check out everything from the latest musical trends and emerging talent to the latest work by the scene’s pioneers and superstars.

Every aspect of global dance culture
These days ADE’s programming offer goes beyond daytime conferences and nighttime performances. The event’s latest addition, ADE Playground, provides a broad range of exhibitions, in-store events, pop-up stores and movie screenings across numerous locations during the day.

The Amsterdam Dance Event takes place October 14-18, 2015. More information coming soon concerning ADE’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

Amsterdam Dance Event 2014 was a tremendous success with record breaking amount of visitors who travelled from all over the world in Amsterdam for five unforgettable days and nights. The daily conference and playground events offered the chance to stay informed about the latest developments in Electronic Music Culture and Industry while during the night every little corner in the city of the magical canals was turned into a club that hosted some of the most mindblowing events. One of the clubs that I have never been Club Lite on Friday 17th of October hosted Trance Academy in associated with Jam dj agency and Above All records from Rotterdam. Superstars of the trance scene like Andy Moor, Ben Gold, Super 8 & Tab, Susana Live, Bjork Akesson and the brilliant duo from Malta, Tenishia. On the second floor Above All records hosted their own stage with their fantastic new breed of upcoming trance artists and guests Dennis Sheperd and Ronski Speed from Germany.

Tenishia performance was definitely one of the highlights of the night as they played all their well known releases like their latest anthem with Jonathan Mendelsohn on vocals A New Dream released on Black Hole recordings and Lifetime When Right with Maria Nayler on Raz Nitzan Music. Their current release with Susana Never Let You Down on Raz Nitzan Music again has great acceptance from the trance fans worldwide and there are more fantastic music coming from them on top labels like Armin's van Buuren own imprints ASOT and Armind. After their dj set despite that they were exhausted as they gave 100% their energy to satisfy their growing following they accepted to offer me the interview that you can watch right now. This is the 3rd interview that I did with them and I must say that they always have something new to say and share and they are always friendly and approachable. It is definitely worh it to watch their great answers on my questions that I hope represent what you had in your mind to ask them for instance about Cyprian's tattoos on his body.

Trance Academy took place on Friday 17th of October at Club Lite in Amsterdam during Amsterdam Dance Event 2014 and was organised by Above All records from Rotterdam and Jam Agency from UK showcasing great talents such as Bjorn Akeson, Tenishia, Andy Moor, Ben Gold, Super 8 & Dj Tab and Live performance by the beloved singer Susana on the first floor while on the second room Above All artists joined Ronski Speed and Dennis Shepherd from Germany. It was a magnificent night with great underground atmosphere that you don't find on many club events nowadays. It was not about special effects, lazers and pyrotechnics. It was rather focused on the dj sets from artists who enjoy their every second behind the decks.

Particularly the well known singer Susana performed two great sets of songs  with one being the progressive and the other the more uplifting. The crowd simply adore her and she manage with her signing to transcend the crowd to another space and time. Star quality singer with immense vocal abilities that were evident in her live appearance. After her 2nd set I requested an interview that you can enjoy right here.

After receiving hundreds of entries to Black Hole Distribution ADE Challenge, Black Hole have finally chosen a winner: Sasha Gradiva.

Who is Sasha Gradiva you may ask?

Before Gradiva was featured in Rolling Stone and other major media outlets after her media frantic Grammy appearance, she first introduced her electronica infused tunes with a slew of hard-hitting underground performances in New York clubs. Her “hook addictive” song writing, powerful vocals, and fashion forward avant-garde style immediately gained attention and traction in the US music industry. She dropped records “I’m on Fire” and “Pandemonium,” both charted on dozens of online radio stations. Her debut US single “Wanted” shot up to Billboard #3 on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart, launching her first US tour. Gradiva’s decision to make her shows a hybrid between Pop and EDM was road tested at clubs and brought her a new wave of fans. Putting on shows to crowds of over 300,000, she shared the stage with large artists, including Icona Pop and Emeli Sande.

By winning the ADE Challenge, Sasha wins a one-year contract with Black Hole Distribution.

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) Challenge was held by Black Hole Distribution as a search for talented artists that visited the Dutch capitol for the annual dance event. The results of the challenge were astonishing; hundreds of talented DJ’s, artists and labels have entered in the competition.

We congratulate Sasha Gradiva, for more information about Sasha, please see below:

During  Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) on Wednesday 15 October, Herna Verhagen, CEO of PostNL, presented Dutch DJs Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Dash Berlin and Hardwell with their very first ‘Dutch DJ’ stamps. This presentation took place on the opening day of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in the ADE X SAMSUNG HOME on the Rembrandt square, Amsterdam. All four djs were there to express their gratitude for this initiative of PostNL except Tiësto who was absent at the presentation and he personally received his first stamp at a later time. PostNL is proud to honor these dance heroes during ADE.  Designer Paul du Boi-Reymond of design studio Our Machine was present and talked about the creation of the stamps  in collaboration with colleague Mark Klaversteijn.

At the end of this fantastic presentation I had the honour to talk with Herna Verhagen, CEO of PostNL. I asked her to explain me why they took this decision and why in particular PostNL choose these five specific djs to represent Holland as a capital of Electronic Music. She told me her opinion about the value and important of Amsterdam Dance Event and she explained who you can listen to tracks from your favourite dj by scanning their stamps with the specific application that is available for people to download. Also I asked her if still people use letters and stamps as much as they did in the past and finally I asked her if she considers herself as someone that enjoy Electronic Music and she enjoys going out partying. It's definitely one of the coolest interviews I did ever and is highly recommended to watch it.

Thanks to Tim Boersma at BFCC for his invitation to attend this event.

Amsterdam Dance Event 2014 was the epicentre of all the latest developments in Electronic Music Industry and the culture surround it. From 15th to 19th of October Amsterdam was the heart of Electronic Music with wide variety of panels and talks during the day as part of the extensive ADE Conference schedule including ADE Pro, ADE Next, ADE Green, ADE University, ADE Beamlab and HDE for the harder style of electronic music.  One of the highlight keynote panels every year is the Gamechangers featuring a diverse selection of exceptional individuals who one way or another have helped transform today’s electronic music culture.

Using innovation, invention, imagination and instinct, each has somehow created something from nothing, and Gamechangers explores how they did it and what separated them as individuals from the rest of their peers. These years exceptional speakers included Arthur Baker (US)DJ and producer, known from the legendary track with Afrika Bambaataa Planet Rock, Daniel Haver (Native Instruments, DE) CEO of Native Instruments, Jean-Michel Jarre (FR),Pioneer of electronic music, elevated the genre to new peaks of popularity as early as the late 70’s and 80’s with 80 million albums sold worldwide and Paul Oakenfold (Perfecto, GB)Founder of Perfecto Records and legendary producer and DJ. The exceptional speakers were interviewed as always with great knowledge, insight and admirable style from Jonty Skrufff (Skrufff Media, DE) who identifies himself as DJ/ producer /journalist/ blogger. I noticed Jonty in every single ADE event that I have attended and always his panels and interviews had exceptional questions that you could tell that he spent a lot of time to conceive them and prepare them. I always wanted to have an interview with him and I am very glad that he devoted some of his valuable time to discuss wide variety of subjects. From his involvement with ADE as consultant and panel moderator to his own productions and dj sets. From his great career and stories as music journalist in UK to his decision to move in Berlin that he consider as very important city as he tell us that London has lost its cultural significance. He has definitely very strong views and that is exactly his asset that make me stand out from the rest as he can tell them without fearing about it as his declaration that music journalism is dead and is long gone.

The 19th edition of the biggest and most prominent event for electronic music, an initiative of Buma, put Amsterdam in the international spotlight for all five days. More than 400 journalists, 5,000 conference visitors and 350,000  festival visitors travelled from all over the world to the capital of entertainment and electronic music culture and industry.

On Wednesday 15 October, Herna Verhagen, CEO of PostNL, presented Dutch DJs Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Dash Berlin and Hardwell with their very first ‘Dutch DJ’ stamps. Herna Verhagen  explained how five music clips from recent tracks can be heard after scanning the stamps, one from each DJ.

Designer Paul du Boi-Reymond of design studio Our Machine was present and talked about the creation of the stamps  in collaboration with colleague Mark Klaversteijn. During this wonderful event I had the chance to interview Dash Berlin and to ask him about his feelings of having his first ever dj stamp. Also I asked him about his performances at Armada Night and Amsterdam Music Festival during ADE. We discuss his current album We Are Part 1 and his latest single with 3LAU FT. Bright Lights - Somehow. It's definitely a wonderful interview that Dash Berlin proves how talented artist he is and we definitely aint seen nothing yer from him.

Amsterdam Dance Event represents the latest developments, reflects and evaluates  them on the various panels and discussions and what is most important  through the alliances and coalitions that are shaped during the intense networking of these five days ADE has a decisive impact and huge influence in the future of Electronic Music Industry and Electronic Music Culture as a whole. ADE manage from being in the beginning just an industry meeting to become an actual symbol of the growing importance and huge impact of Electronic Music in the recording industry business and the youth culture as a whole. The attendance at ADE itself or the sold out festivals like Tomorrowland or Mysteryland or Sensation all over the world prove that Electronic Music industry is one of the most vital and quickly growing sector that will shape the young generation perceptions, attitudes and music tastes. If some year ago Electronic Music was a subculture in the periphery of the system now it has become the mainstream without the negative connotations from the past. These considerable changes were reported from more than 400 journalists from around the world who have attended this year's event.

One of the first panels that started ADE first day on Wednesday 15th of October was about the Future of Electronic Music Journalism in the Netherlands. The panel was targeted mainly to national journalists and was Dutch spoken so I requested from two great music journalists to offer me some of their valuable time and conduct an interview were they talked about the main themes of that panel. As you will understand by watching this interview their opinions about Music Journalism in Netherlands represents what happens in Music Journalism in other countries such as UK for instance as the trends are mainly global with small variations locally from country to country. I interviewed
Perre van der Brink (VICE, NL), Head of Content / Creative Director VICE, i-D, Noisey, Motherboard & THUMP and the Moderator of the panel Saul van Stapele, Music Journalist (NL). If you are interested about the issues if there is any future on music journalism as a paid profession and if music publications will abandoned the print medium forever in favour of the digital publications then you should watch this interview that contains strong and to the point opinions and is must watch for sure.

Amsterdam Dance Event, The Electronic Music Platform was an enormous success. From 15th to 19th of October the city of Amsterdam attracted more than 350.000 visitors who were connected one way or another with electronic music. From ordinary devoted fans to record label executives and festival promoters from all over the world ADE was marked as the place to be if Electronic Music is your passion and part of your DNA.

Amsterdam Conference program included a wide variety of panels and discussions that mainly were centred around Felix Meritis, The Dylan, Da Balie, Melkweg, De Brakke Grond and Parkhuis de Zwijger. This year at Felix Meritis ADE offered extensive spaces including restaurant for networking, meeting, discussing and talking about deals and finding new strategic partners for music productions, compilations material, licensing matters and anything else that you can think of such as security services to clubs and events or sponsoring and advertising.

One of the buzz word even "in the world of doing everything yourself" is distribution. Who will take care of your great shinny music and will bring it right at the doorstep of the music consumers is something that many artists and labels pass alot of time researching in order to come up with the best contract with the distributor that they believe is more efficient, reliable and be always by their side to solve any problems. Black Hole recordings, the top label from Breda, The Netherlands launched officially in May 2014 its distribution partner Black Hole Distribution. At ADE we met with Bas Kruijssen, New Media Manager at Black Hole Distribution and we did an interview that is definitely recommended to watch particularly if you are an artist or label that want to focus in his/her productions and let all the distribution matters to the reliable hands of a company that understands artists concerns and has the knowledge and the right connections to finish your wishes efficiently, responsively and most important responsibly.

In the very informative interview that you can enjoy right here we ask Bas why they took the decision to set up at Black Hole their distribution company. What services they can offer to their clients and what they can do different and better than other similar companies by developing their own online distribution system. He tell us about the wide variety of record labels and music styles that cater for at Black Hole distribution including hip hop and classical music. He express his gratitude about the positive reactions he receives so far for the new system and he explains why Black Hole distribution has contracts with many new online retailers and download stores. In my question about his satisfaction with their contracts with the main players like YouTube and spotify he answers that Merlin who represents the independent record labels  and negotiates with those giants manage to secure good contracts. He explains what an artist or record label  should do in order to become part of the distribution system. He reaffirms his belief that record labels are still relevant and important for artists if they wish to amplify the volume of their productions and presence in the digital world. At the moment Black Hole distribution is focusing on its ADE Challenge by searching for the best producers and record labels that want to join the Black Hole Distribution family. Until 3rd of November interested parties had to submit their music and at 10th of November the winner will be announced that will get:

a) a one year contract for Black Hole Distribution
b)free mastering for the first 10 tracks that will be released
c) a scan of your social media endeavours
d)a Black Hole goodiebag filled with nice Black Hole items

Lastly I ask his opinion about Amsterdam Dance Event and he tell us that he notices the event growing larger every year with extensive coverage from the national media in the Netherlands.

Thanks so much to Bas Kruijssen, New Media Manager, Black Hole Distribution for his time to answer this interview.

Thanks to ADE and Claire Dover at Global Pr for press accreditation.

Amsterdam Music Event in 2014 was definitely the biggest and most successful of all times so far. The absolute highlight was the Amsterdam Music Festival that this year took place at the magnificent Amsterdam Arena that events like Sensation were organised in the past. Last years Amsterdam Music Festival included variety of stages but this year everything was focused on the mainstage that included dj sets only from headliners djs. You can easily guess that this was the ultimate Clash of the Titans of electronic dance music in front of the eyes of thousands of fans who travelled in Amsterdam from all over the globe who came to party, sing a long, jump and getting trashed completely out of their heads.

Amsterdam Music Festival is the perfect occasion to get lost in music and become insane for some precious moments of happiness and joy. The party started with Dash Berlin who delivered his very powerful progressive house and festival style bangers to the crowd who didn't stop to clap even for a minute and sing a long. Despite being the first set Dash Berlin watch the crowd going crazy as they didn't require any warm up or special preparation. The excitement was painted in their faces waiting for unforgettable moments to happen in their lives, take as many pictures and videos as they could and tell the world by uploading in their social media that they were present in this global gathering of electronic dance music fanatics. Dash Berlin was stunning as always and he gave the crowd intensity, dynamism and unforgettable  moments to talk about on their way back home.

Next was the French Titan David Guetta who simply could not hide his excitement. David Guetta was pure pleasure to watch him perform, playing his biggest pop dance anthems in the most aggressive and festival friendly versions and drive the crowd nuts. He knew how to please them and he took the microphone in his hands many times to encourage them participate in the shamanic ritual that was this magnificent spectacle beyond any belief or description. David Guetta mixing skills are well documented and always amaze us how he can compile such a powerful set even by playing usually most of his well known tracks from the past that the majority of them are big joy to listen them played by the man who produced them. Dangerous dj set for lovers in the Sun who can party hard all night.

For the next 45 minutes before the announcement of the winner of the dj mag TOP 100 djs Pool the Highest New Entry dj Deorro from Mexico USA performed by playing his top notch remixes and many of his favourites in his very unique dj style that of course helped to raise so much his profile and climb at the number 19. The standout track of the night was his tune Five Hours on AVICII's Le7els Label. Despite releasing a vocal version he played the instrumental version and really drive the crowd mad. From 23.45 till 24.00 we enjoyed the megamix of the Top 10 djs of the year according to the readers of Dj Mag. The winner was of course Hardwell who came on stage to receive the special award and thank all those who have helped him to keep the number 1 position for 2nd year despite the huge competition from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike who came 2nd. It was definitely the most painful Clash Of Titans.

Hardwell was next on the mainstage. For 1 hour the brilliant dj and producer proved why he is so charismatic and so determined to be always on the top of the world. His dj set was packed with many tracks that the crowd recognised instantly and who simply could not stop dancing and bouncing around. Hardwell is a true entertainer who never fails to please his crowd that is hungry for more. In the age of the internet and social media the young electronic dance music fans are seriously educated and that makes them very demanding and difficult to please as they have watched everything already and they have certain expectations that Hardwell manage to satisfy them 100% without doubts. His triumph is not matter of hype and well focused marketing strategy, it is rather the fruit of his hard work and commitment to succeed against all odds and in his case against his health and well being. Of course he is very young and his immune system is super strong at the moment and he doesn't loose any opportunity or chance to spread his love for electronic dance music and at the Amsterdam Music Festival was definitely one of his most representative performances of what he is able to achieve behind the decks and upon the decks when he climbs to wave his hands and salute his crowd.

Armin van Buuren had an incredible year and many waited to see him again at the top of the dj mag Top 100. He reached of course number 3 despite having enormous competition from younger djs that usually younger people identify more easily with them because they can see themselves in the position of those djs and can aspire to become like them. His dj set was definitely very fresh and exciting representing were the modern trance sound is heading at the moment with big room even hardstyle basslines, epic euphoric synths and feel good vocals. Of course he dropped all the mainstage favourites and he spiced it up with uplifting trance tracks even at the very end and huge climax of his unforgettable dj set.

Armin van Buuren is great dj and entertainer cause despite having his own unique and easily identifiable sound, he never afraid to take risks and experiment with elements that his hardcore fans would consider unthinkable to include. He waved his hands, he raised his hands, he climbed at the dj booth and he dance along with his fans enjoying every single second of this sweating dj set that required limitless amounts of energy to keep going till the end. Armin is a phenomenon and his performance could only be phenomenal.

The next brilliant set was by the number 4 dj Martin Garrix who confessed in his ADE Next interview that one of the things that inspired him to get involved with electronic dance music was when he watched Tiesto playing at the Olympic Games in Athens. Martin Garrix delivered an exceptional set packed with all the usual suspects and some cool surprises out of his hat as well. It's impossible to describe with words what happened when he played Animals that is the most easily recognisable track. The whole Amsterdam Arena transformed into jungle with thousands of ecstatic Animals dancing and jumping around. He used the microphone as well many times and he gave his best of his abilities to make every single person feel that is part of this massive party and they should have great time with him. Martin Garrix has all the needed ingredient to become a first class entertainer despite his young age as he knows what it takes to stand in front of thousands of fans who expect to capture any of your moments and he delivers seamlessly mixed dj set that bangs hard and keeps the crowd enthusiastic.

If you ask me personally who I believe had the biggest response from the crowd and who manage to make the whole Amsterdam Arena to dance like crazy the answer can only be Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The Tomorrowland resident djs radiate wherever and whenever they perform madness and it seems that this exactly what the young festival goes demand at the moment. When I watched from the press podium the crowd waving their hands according to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike commands I whispered that they deserve even this year to get the number 1 position. Not because they are residents on the biggest festival of the world but because the crowd wants them and as we know the customer has the final word in any transaction. The Belgian/Greek brothers with their down to earth attitude, simplicity and warmth manage to win the hearts and support of many fans who are ready to surrender in their invitation to get smashed, cranked, freaked out and go bonkers on the dancefloor. Another moment that I witness the same reaction from the crowd was from The Prodigy and now I saw it happen with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike who grab the opportunity from the hair and now they enjoy the highspeed madness of superstars dj life style without forgetting where they come from by staying grounded and in touch with their friends.  Next year they deserve the number 1 position if they continue to work hard like they did on the mainstage of Amsterdam Music Festival.

The next duo to invade the stage of Amsterdam Music Festival were W and W. Another success story of the Dutch Electronic Dance Music industry with their own label Mainstage Music, their own  radio show and their own club anthems including their collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike for Waves that became the official anthem for Tomorrowland festival. what you notice very easily is that W&W are very tall guys in contrast with other djs and it was easy to see them from the crowd behind their dj booth while the majority of the rest of the djs were hidden behind the very tall dj booth and it was impossible to watch their performance. Their dj set included euphoric feel good synths, rave style synthy hooks, aggressive in your face basslines and thunderous kicks to blow the speakers and cause mass riot in the Amsterdam Arena. Faultless mixing, constant interaction with the crowd and acknowledgement that they are at top because of their fans who were there again to enjoy their monstrous performance.

Last dj of the night was Wildstylez who is well known in the hardstyle community and definitely the best choice to bring this memorable festival to its climax. The rest of the djs may played hardstyle infused basslines, Wildstylez played the real thing and if you ask me about the crowd reaction I can tell you that they totally loved every single moment of it. Heavy, rough, raw, wild and furious basslines combined with sharp kicks and great vocals that thanks god are not stretched to sound like the next chipmunks hit. Colourful anthemic feel good synths and positive vibrations were spread all over the place to highlight the fact that the hardstyle scene is more alive than ever and there is huge fanbase for those styles that can turn your mother crazy when you played them in your bedroom. What an epic closing set for an enormously successful event...

The 2nd Amsterdam Music Festival was magnificent in many different levels. From the fantastic organisation behind the scenes that ensured that everything run smoothly in its smallest detail, to the incredible mindblowing stages, hi-tech lasers and pyrotechnics that created that party atmosphere that any festival must aprise to convey cause at the end of the night everyone who attends those festivals want to let the inhibitions and fears go and dance until the end without thinking about the consequences. The decision to move the festival in a larger venue and concentrate on one stage rather than spreading them in many different stages definitely was a wise one and this mythical Clash of Dj Titans will remain as one of the most fierce of all times. Next stop Mexico Music Festival, 16 May 2015. As it seems a brand new festival concept that can be exported in many countries across the globe is just born!

Thanks so much to ADE for the press accreditation and thanks to ALDA EVENTS and Maaike Peys for the AMF press accreditation.

Armada Night at Amsterdam Dance Event took place on Wednesday 15th of October at the well known Heineken Music Hall and was organised by Alda Events. It featured spectacular performances by Armin van Buuren, Dash Berlin, the special — first time in Europe — LIVE set from GAIA, and sets from Andrew Rayel, Cosmic Gate, Orjan Nilsen, Tube & Berger, KRONO, MaRLo and Kevin Duane. The venue was packed from very early and the crowd was prepared to trance the night away. The stage was ultra large with gigantic screens and superb lighting effects and lazers. It definitely manage to create a very special sacred atmosphere and put the crowd in a state of trance.

When I arrived in the venue Nic Chagall, one half of Cosmic Gate was on the stage delivering the energetic prime time banging progressive sound that we always expect from them, Powerful basslines, chunky grooves, memorable synthy hooks and emotional vocals that will be extremely hard to forget. The crowd was responding warm heartily in his well conceived dj set which included all their well known club anthems. Cosmic Gate are always on high standards and their German perfection shined at Armada Night at ADE.

Next on tonight's schedule was the first ever European performance of the dj duo Gaia. We all know that Gaia is a side project of Armin van Buuren but until now the Gaia performances surrounded by mystery as Gaia appear on stage with covered heads by wearing their very strange costumes that recall Renaissance period and monks from that period. Their live performance included all the well known brilliant trance anthems such as J'ai Envie De Toi, Empire of Hearts, Humming The Lights and many more that were supported by stunning visual effects that manage instantly to transfer the Armada Night crowd to another place and time that maybe is in the past or maybe is in the very far away future. Gaia was all about epic melodies, heavy drums, punchy basslines and mythical music themes with orchestral classical music influences. If trance is a journey Gaia performance manage exactly to accomplish that both in visual and sonic levels. The first ever European performance of Gaia was mindblowing and shivers were running from head to toe. Lets hope that Gaia will perform again at the A State Of Trance Festival in Utrecht in February 2015.

Dash Berlin is considered to be one of the biggest star djs from the Netherlands performing for the first time at Amsterdam Dance Event. His well known for his sing a long anthems, Hollywood style music videos and explosive live performances. Also Dash Berlin was one of the dj who was chosen from the National Post of Netherlands and before his Armada Night dj set was a powerful show that started with a magnificent breathtaking intro video. Dash Berlin was one of the four Dutch djs that the National Post Service of Netherlands choose for the ever stamps devoted to djs. The other 3 are Armin van Buuren, Hardwell and Afrojack and the stamps were officially first time presented during ADE at  ADE X SAMSUNG HOME, Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam.

Dash Berlin performances are outstanding and his dj set at Armada Night was packed with his well known emotional vocal anthems that include collaborations with fantastic singers, uplifting euphoric synths and banging aggressive basslines that you can not resist and you are obliged to clap your hands with him and start jumping along. Dash Berlin is very energetic behind the decks and he even asked W&W to come on stage and present themselves to the crowd that went ballistic when they saw them climbing up in the stage and start waving their hands along their massive anthem BIGFOOT. Dash Berlin with this performance opened up our hunger for his performance on Saturday at the Amsterdam Music Festival at the prestigious Amsterdam Arena.

The absolute highlight on th night except the Gaia performance was Armin van Buuren who always performs at Armada Nights during ADE. His show included all his current anthems including the exceptional Sound of Drums with the mesmerising vocals by Laura Jansen who actually appear in the screens behind of Armin performing the track that was played on the fascinating Bobina remix. Hystereo, Save My Night and his playful worldwide smash Ping Pong were also included in the set. It is worth mentioning that the crowd was eagerly waiting Armin to drop Ping Pong and everybody knew perhaps from the videos of his performances of  how to follow Armin hand movements as they were waiving their hands according to Armin. It is definitely one of the most breathtaking moments of the night that manage to bring people closer to each other feeling the magic bond and unity that only electronic dance music can offer them. It was pure joy to watch Armin performance as it comes straight from his heart and seems to enjoy so much his interaction with his devoted fans.

Next on stage was Moldova's biggest trance dj at the moment Andrew Rayel. His dj set was packed with heavy crunchy drums, slamming kicks, in your face hardstyle basslines and euphoric melodies that demanded the crowd to dance along with him. The majority of the tracks taken from his album on Armada Music including One in A Million featuring the stunning Jonathan Mendelsohn, his collaboration with Armin van Buuren EIFORYA and of course his official and unofficial remixes on many well known club anthems. One of those dj sets that you can describe as Tsunami that everybody was enjoying to the maximum with Andrew Rayel as the inspirational conductor who always climbs at the top of his dj booth to encourage the crowd to enjoy themselves even more and feel the incredible atmosphere. His performance was like a massive turnado taking over the stage that everything and anything was possible to happen.

The last performance at Armada Night in ADE 2014 was from the always smiling Orjan Nilsen and the Australian  trance number 1 dj MaRLo This was the first time that it happened to catch them playing back 2 back set and I must say that are highly encouraged to repeat that explosive experiment whenever they can as their sounds are merged well together. The Norwegian high class producer along with the Australian counter part offered one of the hottest performances of the night as we were able to enjoy back 2 back their big monumental anthems like Orjan's Fair Game with Cosmic Gate, Violetta or XIING and MaRLo's Visions, Forces with Fisherman & Hawkins, Poseidon and countless more. They were the last and manage to keep the crowd on the dancefloor until their very last choice. Orjan Nilsen b2b MaRLo is a highly recommended performance to catch if it will happen in the future and why not to follow up with a collaboration in the studio as well.

Armada Night's during ADE are very special events and ADE delegates who love to party always check them out cause always there are moments that stay in your mind forever. When such an exceptional label that leads the electronic dance music movement  meets the organisation company that is Alda Events which is worldwide respected for their high class events you can only expect a spectacle beyond belief!
