ADE Dance & Brands will once again be highlighting the very best marriages between brands and music acts, as well as looking at the campaigns that lit up the scene and the screen, the ones that re-defined consumer products and those that displayed the very best creativity from both the agency side and the artists themselves.

The Power of Video
One of the main themes at ADE Dance & Brands this year is the power of video and its ability to reach both mainstream and niche audiences. We’ll be hearing from globally renowned video producers such as WE ARE Pi and HALAL about how they leverage the audiovisual power of videos and music, and from interactive platform XITE about how to attract and retain an audience of young music lovers with a branded message.

The Power of Artists
As always ADE Dance & Brands will also be looking at the larger picture and the realities of what happens when consumer brands team up with the major players of the electronic music industry. And of course there are hundreds of examples of dance artists acting as brand ambassadors, but D&B will also look at examples of the power of artists in Why Artists Should Leverage Brands with Native Instruments. Chuckie, who also hosts his own event Chuckie & Friends, will be teaming up with Sony/ATV’s Hans Schlatmann to discuss how artists can play a real role in the creative process, and how to get the best from both sides of the equation.

Electronic music is widely perceived as a major opportunity for all kinds of brands to connect with a young, urban audience, but it also presents opportunities for brands to connect with underground and niche audiences, and in U Don’t Have 2 B Mainstream, the panelists will be looking at brands who wish to be perceived as cool and edgy, and how they get their message across to a fundamentally brand-resistant ‘cool/edgy’ audience.

So you think you can Sync
In case you’re still not convinced about the value of visiting Dance & Brands, First Day of Spring’s Marleen Heemskerk will be telling the story of how Outdoor brand Napapijri celebrated its 30th anniversary with a bold re-interpretation of Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons featuring four contemporary artists. Sync competition So You Think You Can Sync features Chuckie, Gary Beck, Kaiserdisco, IVA, The Wong Janice, Pershanoush and Niklas Paschburg, who will all be bringing their own version of the music for an NFL advert, and Desperados Diogo Pinheiro will be discussing the stories behind the brand’s visually stunning campaigns.

The Extraordinary Power of Design
The Stone Twins will be back for another kaleidoscopic journey through great design in The Extraordinary Power of Design & The Best Compositions in Advertising, and Sizzer founder Sander Van Maarschalkerweerd giving his version of the ideal artist + brand relationship. Globally renowned TV, film and advertising composer Christian Henson will be offering his Dos and Don’ts of Music in Advertising, Frukt’s Dom Hodge will be examining how brand and music partnerships are evolving in Evolution of Sound and Grey Worldwide’s Josh Rabinowitz will be offering A Biased History of Music in Advertising, his very personal view of the best ever marriages of music and visuals.

Grey Worldwide, WE ARE PI, and the previously announced XITE and HALAL, will also be highlighted on ADE's Dance & Brands program in the DeLaMar Theater on ADE Friday.

Let's focus our attention on the ADE Dance & Brands program, which is nearing completion. ADE's conference covering the nature of relationships between musicians and their brand partners is once again filled with stories, the realities of creative partnerships, examples of symbiotic creativity and work by decent video makers worldwide.

ADE team has already announced the addition of HALAL's Gijs Determeijer in The A-Z of Music & Brands, as well as XITE, represented by of Manon Fennis and Louiza Voorthuijsen, who will be describing how the channel interacts with major brands.

Additionally, WE ARE PI's Rick Chant will be showcasing some work in How to Drop the Bass in Space and Other Wild Experiments in Music. He will then be joined by Heineken's Diogo Pinhero to chat about the dynamic work WE ARE PI has done for Desperados.

Grey Worldwide's Director of Music Josh Rabinowitz will be revealing some previously unknown backstories to collaborations between artists and brands in his opening talk, A Biased History of Music In Advertising. Later on, he also chairs So You Think You Can Sync! where artists with little or no experience of writing music for adverts get the chance to prove what they can do to a panel of experts.

Leeor Brown, Christian Henson and The Stone Twins and will be revealing some of the secrets behind the success of their work.

First confirmed speakers and topics for ADE Dance & Brands  include the panel U Don’t Have 2 B Mainstream featuring Leeor Brown -founder of LA-based label and branding agency Friends of Friends- showing how the underground is just as attractive to certain brands as chart artists. Following highly successful and much-praised campaigns for Vans and Ray Ban, Brown will be revealing why some brands prefer niche audiences.

The Extraordinary Power of Design & The Best Compositions in Advertising
Following a hugely entertaining presentation about their work on the A’DAM Toren last year, The Stone Twins (designers Declan and Garech Stone) will be back to talk about the extraordinary power of design. The duo will be drawing on their vast knowledge of cutting-edge designers and exemplary cover art to demonstrate what both brands and artists can achieve through the intelligent application of image and message.

Christian Henson is the co-founder of Spitfire Audio, one of the most successful creators of sample libraries and virtual instruments, and is also regarded as one of the world’s best and most original composers for TV, film and advertising. His approach to every project is utterly unique, and he’ll be using examples of advertising campaigns that he has provided music for to show just how far the creative envelope can be pushed if the composer wishes to do so.

Raphael Aflalo, CEO and co-founder of My Love Affair, will share his insights on Thursday October 20th.

Following recent announcements about panels and panelists at ADE Pro and artists at ADE Live, ADE Dance & Brands, the sub-conference dedicated to connecting brands with the electronic music scene, will be welcoming Raphael Aflalo, CEO and co-founder of My Love Affair, an agency specialising in forging creative partnerships between brands and artists.

Case studies / Q&A
During his appearance Aflalo will be presenting a series of case studies on how My Love Affair has worked with a wide range of dance artists, as well as offering his view of this growing market, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. “By the time of My Love Affair’s launch, the company had already secured various campaigns and partnerships between high-profile artists and DJs such as David Guetta, Avicii, will.i.am, Steve Aoki, Nervo, Lenny Kravitz, Iggy Pop, Justin Bieber, and Maroon 5 with internationally known brands like Tag Heuer, G.H.Mumm , HP, Renault, Sony Mobile, P&G, IWC, Alcatel, and Nestlé,” he commented.

My Love Affair was launched in 2011 by Aflalo and his business partners David and Cathy Guetta. “Their vision was clear: brands and artists have a lot to bring to each other and, while artists are striving to find a long-term business model, brands are constantly trying to create unique environments for consumers. My Love Affair links brands directly to personalities through different means of communication such as endorsement, digital activations, product placement in music videos, and event partnerships,” he added.
Previously Aflalo worked at Omnicom Media Group as managing director of the company’s digital department, and before that he founded his own digital agency Pure Player in 1999.
