Daniel Kandi & Markus Wilkinson - Open Road out on Always Alive recordings
Taking us back to what he does best is Daniel Kandi collaborating with Markus Wilkinson for 'Open Road'. Really digging the rhythmic saw bassline that's layered on top of rolling subs and mid phaser arp basses, the characteristic acid sound from 'Make Me Believe' is also present here to add to the excellent soundscape. As the melodies begin to flutter their way in, an atmosphere reminiscent of Anjunabeats' characteristic 2007 uplifting sound is formed, the break boasts amazing uplifting chords with a huge open air to them. The melody is an energizing one which immediately makes you grin from ear to ear with both arms streched upwards towards the sky, Kandi is sure to play this one at Luminosity Beach Festival which should be one of many great highlights from the upcoming weekend!

Jackob Rocksonn - Dynamic out on Beyond Belief recordings
Polish tech trance DJ Jackob Rocksonn got his first Future Sound Of Egypt play recently with this interesting and fittingly "dynamic" track. With plenty to keep the ears interested, a thumping offbeat groove propels things forward underneath an open-mouthed vocal chop and some rising detuned saws. A unique chord progression is unleashed in the middle of the track along with a breakbeat and
simple plucked counter melodies. Plenty of tension is built afterwards as the tune heads into a techy drop keeping all the crazy elements from the intro in tow. A perfect beginner to a diverse set in my opinion, and congratulations to Kuba for the support this one has received so far!

LTN Feat. Diana Leah - Crystalline (Frank Waanders Remix) out on Enhanced Progressive
Over at Enhanced Progressive, the remixes for LTN's debut album 'People I'll Never Forget' have recently been released and this one caught my ear in particular from Always Alive artist Frank Waanders. A very smooth yet pumping mix compliments Diana Leah's soft yet powerful vocal nicely and gives it a much desired uplifting treatment for the peak time dancefloors.

Mike Squillo - First Glance out on Elliptical Sun Energies
New Yorker Mike Squillo has his first release of 2016 on melodic trance label Elliptical Sun Energies, delivering a dark and melancholy piece that harks back to oldschool Super8 & Tab sounds in my opinion. Beautiful delicate melodic touches are laced around pumping yet carefully crafted drums in the intro with tense vocal chops enhancing the mood. Smooth pads carry things along in the background like a soft warm cloud and a romantic piano melody is sprinkled down in the depths of the break. The lead melody is simple yet evocative and longing, making for a pumping yet sorrowful climax. Great unique production here!

Zack Mia - Silver Spirit out on Digital Society recordings
After the excellent 'Sector 7' with Daniel Kandi, Zack Mia is back this time on Digital Society Recordings with 'Silver Spirit'. Starting with some clever and creative transition effects and a mixdown style quite similar to Allen & Envy, the intensity is quickly built up with a frantic rhythmic acid line and neutral-sounding pluck arpeggio. Atmospheric pads are added to the drive before layers are stripped back down to some suspensful pads which play a nice Nitrous Oxide-esque sequence. A simple yet effective lead line opens up and plays on top of a techy breakbeat which then builds via a snare roll into a straight forward, driving climax.

First Sight & Ben Stone - We Are Pure [Always Alive Recordings]

Combining their efforts for the first time on Always Alive Recordings, First Sight and Ben Stone have put together a very energetic, dancefloor-orientated track which makes use of excellent psy-influenced FX and great dark atmospherics. A warm offbeat sub bass carries the low frequencies of the track and light, fluttery pianos glide along during the break. A fierce detuned saw melody takes
centre stage before building into a devastatingly powerful climax that booms its way in. Another quality cut from Mr. Daniel Kandi's Enhanced sublabel here!

Gerome - Elementum [Elliptical Sun Energies]

On the softer tip is a new one from Lebanese producer Gerome, who was responsible for creating the amazing track 'Black Bird' with vocalist Cassandra Gray earlier this year on ESE. Coming back with plenty of dreamy atmospherics and interesting exotic vocal chops, 'Elementum' has everything a true melodic trance fan would want. Blissful, serene ambience creates an otherworldly soundscape, whilst smooth pads and wind chimes add the finishing touches to a truly magical composition. His signature piano lines are here, as well as a unique and refreshing main melody which serves as a great alternative to the more detuned supersaw sounds which tend to  largely dominate the scene today. 10/10 from me!

Platunoff - Embrace (Jackob Rocksonn Remix) [Addictive Sounds]

Polish powerhouse Jackob Rocksonn returns in his characteristically moody style with a remix for Addictive Sounds of Platunoff -Embrace. A thick, throbbing bassline thunders along on top of edgy progressive beats and nicely placed melodic refrains in the intro, before stripping things down and bringing in the full melodic package for your ears to enjoy. Nice techy stabs surface underneath the
sub-aquatic soundscape and industrial effects coldly enhance the sonic image created by this beauty. Get into this one if you like your dark, heads-down productions.

Sean Matthews & Mike Sanders - Atonement [Silent Shore Records]

Mike Sanders is back on Silent Shore Records collaborating this time with Sean Matthews this time on a thunderous, tech-tinged monster called Atonement. Already supported by Aly & Fila on Future Sound Of Egypt, things are all out with a cheeky breakbeat-led introduction before a thick, chunky kick carries the groove into 4x4 territory. Plenty of glitchy FX and dramatic stabs fill out spaces between the frantic rolling basslines and well-balanced percussion, and a huge screaming lead descends its way downwards like a siren leading into the arpeggiated breakdown. Some nice pads support an anthemic detuned saw which is then complimented by a supplementary pluck part as things build into an energetic, full-on climax. Atonement is a bit on the over-compressed side for me, but apart from being just a little overcooked I think plenty of creativity is evident here which is refreshing to hear outside of the standard uplifting format.

PARITY - Kamchatka [Digital Society Recordings]

Something more on the progressive tip, Kamchatka sports an excellent mixdown with chunky beats, great rolling bass and amazing atmospherics. The mood created here is truly mystical with excellent vocal chops and a fitting chord progression. Flawless production makes this one a true dancefloor destroyer for the early part of any good night. A huge build-up rewards the breakdown beautifully as all the elements are in full swing, hitting just the right balance between heads down grooves and melodic euphoria.

Gerome Feat. Cassandra Grey - Black Bird (Vocal Mix) [Elliptical Sun Energies]

Bringing blissed-out, dreamy trance back to where it belongs at Elliptical Sun Energies is Lebanese producer / DJ Gerome along with the excellent vocalist Cassandra Grey. This one takes me back to the early Anjunabeats days circa 2004 with the old Smith & Pledger sound, mainly due to the excellent atmosphere, and the rolling basslines that percussively build the foundation of the tune amongst quite a soft yet powerful kick drum. Beautiful piano touches are sprinkled above a hypnotic arpeggio line before hitting the breakdown where the percussion fades away leaving the sound of black birds tweeting on top of gorgeous warm pads. Then Cassandra's unique and captivating vocal enters in this main mix from the package, creating the theme for the song which serves as a strong memorable hook with great shelf life in my opinion. As a lot of vocal trance can be a bit too over the top and sentimental, this track just hits the right spot for my taste. Expect more vocal work to come from Gerome in the near future!

Mike Sanders - Right Hemisphere (Extended Mix) [Always Alive Recordings]

Mike Sanders is from Spain and is on something of a roll with his productions as of late. He first caught my attention at the turn of this year with his excellent driving remix of Pearson & Hirst's Your Embrace, and with this track released on Daniel Kandi's Always Alive Recordings he further enhances the hard edge characteristic of his sound with a more thumping kick and a powerful roller of a bassline in the intro before reaching a nice melodic breakdown with a simple yet sweet pluck melody. Nice piano melodic touches bounce along the top of the main melody line as it opens up into a wider detuned saw sound, then big punchy snares build up into the climax section which is big, powerful, and graceful just like how I like my trance.

Quincy Weigert - South Eden (Extended Mix) [Lange Recordings]

Lange Recordings' output isn't usually to my taste, however this release was a pleasant surprise when listening to it and proves why you shouldn't miss out any tracks in your promo pool without listening to them properly! 'South Eden' is a great, brooding progressive trancer with a big fat bubbling   bassline that would vibrate the chest cavity pleasantly on a club system. Rolling percussion keeps this track riding along  effortlessly while mesmerizing arpeggios weave there way in to the foreground and a square lead pattern takes its place as the main melody part.As a producer, I would comment that the lead itself could sound better if it had more depth and texture to it, however this track works well as a filler track in a set with much harder and melodic stuff in my opinion, running at a modest 135BPM within the middlegrounds tempo-wise.

Raphael Mayers & RageVision - Night Hunters (Jak Aggas Remix) [Beyond Belief Recordings]

Soon to be released on Amos & Riot Night's Beyond Belief imprint is 'Night Hunters' by Raphael Mayers & RageVision, which boasts a brilliant main melody which has all the anthemic qualities you would want. However, Jak Aggas' mix has been chosen as my favourite, with its great drive and atmosphere in the intro, which builds tension nicely with nervous-sounding counter pluck melodies and a dark chord progression before hitting the misty breakdown. You can almost feel the murkiness in this track as if it should have been released around Halloween time! Great effort from Jak on this one, with support from big names such as Sneijder I think he will be a name to watch in the future.

Stellar Project - Sacred (Tau-Rine Remix) [Mysterious Station]

A relatively new and unknown label that has started sending me tracks, Mysterious Station actually releases some quality stuff like this one, an excellently produced thumper of a remix by Ukrainian producer Tau-Rine of Stellar Project's 'Sacred'. Starting with some excellent punchy drums, buzzing saws, and a nice dose of acid to boot, some great keys play in the break amongst uplifting pads before flipping around into a  right squelcher of a drop! Something a bit different to play towards the end of a set, I really rate this retake as it has plenty of energy and would do some serious damage on a dancefloor! Great melodic main section too when things all come together for the final climax.

Further enhancing the techy elements are hot newcomers Area51, who provide a darker remix featuring an onslaught of rolling bass-lines and pacey rhythms to complement the euphoric elements from the original.
