During the Armada Demo Drop Session at Dancefair 2015 that took place in Utrecht 21st and 22nd of February I met Marwen who is the mysterious A&R behind the recently established but very successful Armada Music imprint The Bearded Man recordings.  On the same company with him was the extremely successful Belgian artist Lost Frequencies who is going to become worldwide successful with his anthem Are You With Me? and he just remixed Armin's van Buuren eternal classic In and Out Of Love. Also on the same table was the upcoming female dj star and producer from Germany Pretty Pink. Her career is on great high's at the moment with personal productions and remixes on legends like Paul Oakenfold. I asked them if it is possible to have  an interview all together and they accepted the challenge. Right here, Right now you can watch their very nice answers. 


First on Marwen I asked where he left his beard as The Bearded Man and why they decided to set up this particular label and what kind of tracks he is looking to sign for this label as well. Next Lost Frequency explains how he produced Are You With Me? and if expected the big success that this track has at the moment. He talks about his productions before this very seminal track, his current productions and remixes and of course about his busy schedule dj tour. Pretty Pink from her side talks about the beginning of her career and how she manage to develop and progress so well, if she feels that as a woman she is disadvantaged in a mans world music industry, about her dj tour schedule and her studies and if the particular subject she studies has a benefit for her music career as well.

Dancefair 2015 took place in Jaarbeurs,Utrecht from 21st to 22nd of February with considerable success.

At the Drop Demos session organised by Armada Music & Cloud 9 I met Onno van Kemenade, A&R at Armada Trice and Joel de Vriend, A&R at Armada Captivating. I asked for an interview and I'm very glad they accepted the challenge. In this interview I asked them about the future releases of their labels. If they have found new tracks at the drop demo session so far. Why the think is important for an artist to be signed on a record label such as Armada Music. Do they discover often fresh tracks with original ideas or the majority of them tend to copy paste ideas from the successful tracks on beatport? Where is the biggest audience for Armada Music? Do they consider music video important tool for promotional activities? Is beatport or Spotify more important for Armada Music? Can artists make a descent leaving out of music productions? Why is so vital to be included in the playlists of the radio shows of well known djs such as ASOT or Hardwell on Air?



Certainly there are more questions to ask and more answers to find but their main priority those two days was to listen as many demos as they can from many young hopeful producers.

This year Dancefair takes place the 21st and 22nd  of February 2015 at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. You can now browse through the full program at www.dancefair.nl.

For years Dancefair has been the go to educational event for DJs and producers around the world. With over 5000 visitors and more than 200 seminars and workshops to attend, Dancefair is considered the worlds’ biggest educational electronic music event. 

One of the prominent names this year is Martin Garrix, who’ll provide a top notch producer workshop. Over 100 other renowned artists like Laidback Luke, Joris Voorn (interviewed by Native Instruments), Oliver Koletzki, Dale Howard, Egbert and Wildstylez also confirmed their attendance for the 4th edition of Dancefair.

"Dancefair awoke out of my passion for electronic music”, says Norman Soares, Founder and organiser of Dancefair. “As always, we are very thankful for the support and interest we get from the 100+ music professionals that are willing to share their knowledge . They recognise the importance of helping out the next generation of production talents and bedroom DJs alike..” 

200 Workshops and seminars
In order to stand out in a crowded dance-scene, as a modern talent you have to develop a complete package. 

“In 2015, calling your hobby a career, on top of being musically gifted, one has to be far more knowledgable than before. Competition amongst young upcoming artists is fierce, because of the increasingly young ages artists start producing nowadays. Even though these talents carefully follow their idol, a lot of knowledge is still to be learned. For instance the business side of music or how to market yourself are facets young artists are lacking. There are a lot of workshops at Dancefair, presented by music professionals, that address these aspects,” says Norman Soares. 

Dancefair also provides numerous workshops on DJ craftsmanship, producer workshops on higher levels for audio engineers, social media masterclasses and entrepreneurship.

Dance music is driven by technological innovation. That is why over 122 brands of all currently relevant software, hardware, and other technological companies will set up shop at Dancefair. Product demonstrations are aimed at both the curious home studio owner looking to take the next step, and the professional who wants to learn more about a specific compressor or equalizer. Spinnin’ Records, Cloud9 and Armada’s search for fresh talent 
Spinnin’ Records, Armada, Cloud9, Scantraxx, Intacto and Mixmash are some of the biggest  imprints in the world. These, and more than 80 other labels, are on the lookout for talented new artists. For these new artists this is a big opportunity; they have a chance to be heard and get valuable feedback on their productions and all they have to do is head to the DemoDrop area of Dancefair. 

In 2014 Dancefair hit the island of Ibiza with their successful concept and the organisation is soon to announce new destinations throughout 2015 and 2016.

Global electronic music festival Dancefair is back and bigger and better than ever in 2015. Taking place between 21st and 22nd February, the educational two day event takes place in a huge conference centre just outside Amsterdam at Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, and covers many musical basses as well as offering great ways for keen young DJs and producers to get their own music heard. 

  As well as plenty of great musical offering and sets and live shows from the world’s best, Dancefair allows you to explore new gear, talk with experts, share stories, get feedback on your music and generally immerse yourself in the world of dance for two whole days. In all there will be 200 workshops, 80 artists and entrepreneurs, 1800sqm of space displaying the latest DJ technology and more than 80 record labels on site.

The Dancefair partners with DGTL and Deep House Amsterdam this year to ensure lots of great coverage before and after the event as well as brands like FutureMusic, Point Blank, KRK Systems, Stanton, Ableton, Interface and many other top industry experts.  

 The main focus of course will be the large Polar hall where all the action takes place. Techno, EDM, house, harder styles, big room tech and more will all be on offer from the world’s biggest DJs and live acts. Those names will be announced in the coming weeks but rest assured they will be a mouth watering project. 


At the end of each party day, networking opportunities will present themselves allowing people to connect with industry insiders, DJs and producers. There will also be lots of seminars and workshops, mastering classes for experts and novices and lots of social media discussions and marketing techniques dissected. 

You will also be able to buy specially discounted gear at this event, with brand new lines of kit being unveiled and lots of second hand stuff at great prices. As well as this, there will be a Demo Drop point for all aspiring DJs and producers where they can drop off their latest tunes and connect with the 80+ labels that will be in attendance including already confirmed Armada, Spinnin, Cloud9, Revealed, Mixmash, Intacto, 100%Pure, Area Remote and Remote Area. These experts will then offer feedback and tips on the demos they hear so everyone can learn something new.
