Fusing two generations of artistry along a single conceptual thread, Fisherman (Isaac Vissers) lands his debut album with a project as deeply rooted in family as it is in music. ‘Metamorphosis’ takes inspiration from a series of twelve graphic works created in the early 90s by Isaac’s father, painter Jack Vissers, with the meaning of each canvas now reinterpreted as a corresponding piece of music.

Across its twelve tracks, the album charts the human journey – one that moves from states of innocence and possibility, through the rebellious and aspirational stages, before finally reaching understanding, transcendence, and continuity.

Whichever way you cut it, there’s never been an album quite like ‘Metamorphosis’.

Talking about ‘Metamorphosis’, Fisherman says:
“This project started long before I ever touched sound. In 1993, my dad Jack created twelve paintings, without knowing where they would end up. For years, they just existed. Somehow, they found their way back to me. And over time, they became something else. Each piece shaped a feeling, a moment, a phase I didn't fully understand until I heard it. What he created back then became the foundation of what I created now. We never planned this, and that's what makes it special.

In a way, this album was already there. It just needed time to find its voice.”
‘Metamorphosis’ is designed as a complete thematic arc, where each composition interprets the symbolism and philosophy of its visual counterpart, transforming brushstroke into melody, texture into atmosphere and colour into motion. In doing so, Fisherman bridges two generations and three-plus decades, inventing his own dialogue between image and sound.

Opening in a state of suspended possibility, ‘Potential’s atmosphere reflects ‘becoming’ – the first gleam of existence, before ‘Hope’ introduces pad-warmth and breakbeat energy, channelling the essence of trusting without reason. With freer spirit still, ‘Playfulness’ (featuring Dutch singer-songwriter Susana) takes aim at the dancefloor and finds its centre square.

Where boundaries feel like cages, ‘The Rebel Within’ delivers the ‘Metamorphosis’ project its first major stylistic rupture, feeding tension, resistance, and self-discovery into a darker, more turbulent current. ‘Imagination’ continues that urgency, with nagging synth breaks and Disclosure-esque vocals, while the floor-flooring ‘Passion’ (alongside Coldharbour label-mate Nifra) lives in a place where neutral no longer exists and the human experience arrives in a burst of full-spectrum sonic colour.

By degrees, the album’s second half sees its lens-system widen steadily. ‘NextGen’ (Christian Burns featuring on vocals) carries the momentum of progress on, embodying the transition from self-discovery into world-building. That in turn augers ‘The Guide’, which adopts a more reflective tone, shaped by clarity and leadership, where worldliness becomes something to be shared. ‘Enterprise’ then cultivates that ambition into structure and permanence, where ideas evolve from loose sketches into something lasting and real.

As ‘Metamorphosis’ approaches the last works in its series, ‘Wisdom’ sees understanding supersede urgency, while ‘Legacy’ turns inward once more, to a time where one’s presence leaves a trace. Finally, ‘Life’ dissolves the last remaining boundaries, and in its own way brings the album full circle, to a place where there is no beginning or end ... but simply flow.

A singular album, hooked around a conceptually-unique opportunity, Fisherman’s ‘Metamorphosis’ experience arrives to streams and stores on June 5. Find it here blackhole.lnk.to/Metamorphosis.

01. Giuseppe Ottaviani & Ferry Corsten - Magenta (Fisherman Remix)
02. Giuseppe Ottaviani & Ferry Corsten - Magenta (Fisherman Extended Remix)

In 2023 there’s no better (or neater!) time to remix-rewind a decade to 2013. Incredibly perhaps, it’s now a full 10 since Ferry Corsten collaborated with Giuseppe on the vibrant title track of the latter’s second longplayer.

Outside of its initial M.I.K.E. and Greg Downey offerings however, it’s one that Giuseppe and Ferry have never sanctioned further official remixes on. That’s all until today though, when ‘Magenta’ turns a markedly different shade!

Giuseppe and Ferry’s idea had always been to wait for an artist who held the promise of ‘diverse’ … and they well and truly found that in Fisherman (Isaac Vissers). In its original form ‘Magenta’ was a swelling synth ‘n’ string-fest, but the Dutchman’s reimagined it as a visceral, high-velocity floor-whacker. Beauty turns full beast-mode, as Isaac ups its tempo, tone, tenacity and, well … pretty much everything else in pursuit of that end-of-the-night boom!

Testosterone-trance of the highest order, you can sample Fisherman’s ‘Magenta’ here . Don’t forget to hold tight though …

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The talented Fisherman is geared towards the release of his album on Black Hole and now he presents his own take on the big classic Magenta by Giuseppe Ottaviani & Ferry Corsten. The Dutch veteran of high class energetic moody dark tech trance meets mainstage and uplifting trance does his best to impress as he employs fat thumping basslines, chunky wonky kicks, spanky drums and techy grooves and percussion. In the breakdown the great euphoric synthy riff is allowed to come at the surface and explode out of any proportion bringing wave so nostaglia and euphoria for the unsuspected listen who should always wait the unexpected from Fisherman. #PureGold Love iT[/content]

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Fisherman from Netherlands continues his exceptional releases. His brand new track Wisdom is superb hybrid of mainstage techno and mainstage Coldharbour style trance in one explosive package. Pounding tough metallic techno basslines recalling the Mauro Picotto BXR sound along with tough dark drums while on top swirling synths and side chains effects builds the tension along with spoken vocal samples. The breakdown is the moment that the big rave synthy style epic riff is revealed to drive the clubbers insane feeling the energy radiating from feet to their minds, blood veins and deep in their souls. The climax is full on headbanging body smashing perfect to rock and jump around with drinks in your hands and your good friends all around. Wisdom is big festival friendly party track to have good time instantly. #PureGold Love iT[/content]

Let Fisherman tell the story behind the track in a facebook post: It's here people! My new track Playfulness (The Magic), together with Susana. The perfect sing-along song for the peak time moments on the dance floor 😎 It's the next single from my upcoming artist album and it became a very personal one, as it's about our childhood or the one you want for your kids, wherein you just want to explore the magic of life, while playing around. I'm absolutely amazed by the superb vocals Susana delivered, making it a perfect match! 🙂

I hope you all like it just as much as we do. And make sure to stream it out loud...it's allowed!

Much love,

Isaac

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Fisherman offer us another glimpse of his forthcoming album Metamorphosis. This time goes towards the vocal direction with Susana who always delivers incredible vocals with her distinctive and so powerful voice.  Playfulness [The Magic] is full on headbanging trancer with thumping drums, bouncy chunky grooves and massive euphoric synthy stabs in the breakdown that lead us nicely in the massive hands in the air moment. Susana's voice adds a deeper layer of meaning with the so sweet lyrics and her performance elevates the track to the next level. The final result is the perfect singalong mainstage moment in your DJ set this cold winter that Magic can turn it into something special and playful. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

An established member of the Coldharbour roster, but at the same time, a new beginning; as Fisherman embarked on his first original piece as a singular act, with The Mission. The Dutchman sprung into life earlier in the summer of 2018, particularly with his tougher edged festival take on Markus Schulz and Delacey's Favorite Nightmare. And with The Mission, the energetic and anthemic tones feature as prominently as before. A fist-pump inducing lead to penetrate dancefloors and open air settings, The Mission had found an accomplished spot in the playlists of many.  A proud native of Venlo, Fisherman is equipped with determination to represent his patch on the global trance stage. He spearheaded the inaugural Airwalk Festival on Saturday November 10th; with the extra responsibility of providing the event's official anthem called The Jaguar. In a country where event themes and anthems have their own esteemed history throughout the years, The Jaguar impressively finds itself within good company; demonstrating Fisherman's track record in curating anthemic, dancefloor driven weapons.

Dimitris: Can you rate 2018 for you as a year with 1 being very bad until 10 that is perfect year!

Fisherman: 8 very good year

1) Best 3 Tracks from other artists in 2018, please give us a short comment for each track:

Fisherman: Nifra x Anske - Powerball. This track has it all: A sick mindblowing groove and a killer melody!

Gabriel & Dresden feat. Sub Teal - Only Road (Cosmic Gate Remix). A track with a lot of feels and yet still very banging. Always worked great on the dance floors!

Dennis Sheperd - Tafelberg. Very well produced tune with a very emotional breakdown and drop. But still remaining a bad ass vibe.

2) Your 3 Best of 2018 personal productions, give us more background info about them(please provide the listening link for our readers):

Fisherman: The Jaguar (Airwalk Festival 2018 Anthem). This track was the anthem for my own event Airwalk - Indoor Trance Festival, which took place in November for the very first time in Venlo

The Mission. My first solo release on Coldharbour Recordings and the track that went viral thanks to the raving nuns ;)

X. After a long period of silence, this was my first single, released on ASOT.

3) Best Remix in 2018, please explain why you liked it so much:

Fisherman: The Cosmic Gate remix of Only Road by Gabriel & Dresden. It has all the right elements. Feels, sick groove and powerful drop.

4) Best Remix that you have produced in 2018, please tell us why you believe is your best work?

Fisherman: My Festival Mix of Favorite Nightmare by Markus Schulz feat. Delacey. This remix is perfect for the big stages as it has a nice blend of trance and big room sounds.

5) Best electronic music album in 2018? Please explain your decision why you think is the best album?(b) Do you believe that albums are still relevant or you prefer singles:

Fisherman:  Day: Yotto - Hyperfall. Such a quality album. Pure progressive at it's best!

Night: Markus Schulz - We Are The Light. A lot of good vocal bombs on this album and they work really well on the dance floor

Albums are most definitely very relevant these days. They also showcase much better the producer's mind style-wise, than just singles. As they get to explore their own paths more.

6) Best vocalist/singer featured on electronic music track in 2018, please tell why you appreciate this singer/vocalist and why:

Fisherman: Delacey in Favorite Nightmare (Fisherman Festival Mix). She has such a good haunting voice. Amazing!

7) Best electronic music video for 2018, please explain why you like this video so much:

Fisherman: The Mission nun video haha. Best. Video. Clip. EVER!

8) Best online social media for 2018 and why you believe is the best particularly in 2018?:

Fisherman: Instagram. The stories feature can be a lot of fun sometimes to drop some stupid stuff, especially when touring haha

9) Best Twitter/Facebook/Instagram message you may have received about your music or your DJ performance in 2018:

Fisherman: Someone said that I rocked it solo just as much as I did with Fisherman & Hawkins. I mean, that's cool to hear!

10) Best Club event or Festival that you have performed there or you would love one day to perform there, please explain the reasons that influenced your choice of the event & festival:

Fisherman: Airwalk - Indoor Trance Festival at the Maaspoort in Venlo. A whole year of work we put into it with the whole team. It was the first big Airwalk event, sold out, and it was beyond all expectations!

11) Your Best personal DJ Gig for 2018 (if you are active as DJ) and why you believe is the finest:

Fisherman: Airwalk - Indoor Trance Festival together with Nifra. It was in my own hometown and seeing 1500 people going absolutely bananas was overwhelming! Especially as more is coming up in the near future. Airwalk is about to burst!

12) Best DJ set from other fellow DJ in 2018 and why you believe his/her set was so fantastic?:

Fisherman: Guy J at Airwalk pres. Guy J. It was 10/10! So much emotions he put into his sets and seeing him editing tracks live to make them hit even bigger was mindblowing. The "Airwalk pres." club nights are unique anyway because the DJ is positioned in the middle of the room, like Boiler Room. Very cool!

Dimitris: In 2018 the electronic music talent AVICII died and this has alerted several artists to become more health conscious. Are there any lessons to learn as an artist out from this sad event?

Fisherman: Balance is the key. And humour is needed! This scene is already too serious enough ;)

Dimitris: If you are DJ or producer who travels very often to perform Live in various countries can you give us your best Travel Tip for 2018 in order to survive the long travelling hours?

Fisherman: Good ear-plugs, work on your set/productions while flying or read a boring book to help you fall asleep...

Dimitris: In 2018 there was a big movement for revival of classic tracks and retro events have boomed with music policy of solely classic tracks. What is your opinion about events or stages only with classics and can you choose for us your absolute 3 favourite classics?

Fisherman: It's cool to have some classics on an event but I'm not a big fan of classics only nights. It's nice as a closing act or for a smaller second stage on the side tho for the fans. But I'd rather want to focus more on the future, which is more interesting in my opinion.

Dimitris: Can you mention briefly your plans for your future releases, tracks, albums, collaborations, DJ gigs for 2019!

Fisherman: Lots of new tunes in the making! I just finished a remix of Markus Schulz and Gabriel & Dresden's classic 'Without You Near' which is doing really well everywhere. People keep asking me when the release date will be haha. For now we will keep it for ourselves :P

Gig-wise we are going to do more Airwalk events in 2019, like the very first Airwalk Boat Party which got sold out within 3 weeks time!

Dimitris: Finally, what is your biggest wish for 2019 and give us your wishes for our readers?

Fisherman: 2019 will be game changing...mark my words. Calling out all Fisherman's friends to follow me on this crazy road!

Thanks to Fisherman for this interview. Thanks to Coldharbour recordings for arranging this interview.

His latest track is a real Mission to bring the right dynamic flavours on the trancefloor. It is well conceived, produced, executed and serviced track with heavy drums, sharp punchy basslines, metallic grooves and most importantly euphoric anthemic feel good melody that has of course some dark hints as well.
