EXIT in Serbia, Sunland in Bulgaria and Sea Dance in Montenegro - all organized by the EXIT team - were visited by a total 225,000 people this summer, reigniting the festival scene of Europe and giving the opportunity to performers like David Guetta, Paul Kalkbrenner, Charlotte de Witte, Nina Kraviz, Solomon and many more to perform in front of bigger crowds for a first time after a long compulsory break. EXIT is already planning next year's event as ticket sales for the festival start this Friday.

"We were both proud and humble for the chance to reunite with fans and favourite artists at as many as three of our festivals over the summer. However, that opportunity was not served to us, we had to fight for it! We have shown great responsibility and taken rigorous safety measures, thanks to which everything passed without a mass spread of the infection, thus proving that big festivals can be held safely even under the pandemic conditions. This proof is crucial in the further struggle of the festival industry for self-preservation in 2022, so that other countries could follow the examples of Serbia and Great Britain, which showed courage in opening up to large events", stated the founder and director of the EXIT Festival, Dušan Kovačević.
The introduction to the successful summer for EXIT's festival family was made by the multiple European festival champion EXIT, which took place from July 8 to 11 at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad. EXIT, according to the reports from reputable world media, held a historic edition and registered as the first major festival in the world to take place since the beginning of the pandemic. Admission to the festival was limited to those who were vaccinated, tested negative with a PCR or rapid test or had the virus and recovered with antibodies, with a negative antigen test, while scientific studies conducted at the Festival proved that there has not been any mass spread of the virus at and after EXIT!

The Festival was also marked by a strong international line-up - during the four days of the festival with performances from David Guetta, Nina Kraviz, DJ Snake, Paul Kalkbrenner, Solomun, Sabaton, Amelie Lens, Robin Schulz, Charlotte de Witte, Asaf Avidan, Artbat, and many others. The most devoted festival fans, whose passion for live music was stronger than all the uncertainties and restrictions, came to EXIT from over 70 countries around the world. Their great desire united with the same need of performers, which created such a strong energy that almost all performers assessed that their performance at this year's EXIT was one of the most important in their careers, and that after the pandemic they finally got the necessary energy and inspiration for creation of new music. The first headliners for EXIT 2022 were recently announced - the great Nick Cave and his band, The Bad Seeds, will arrive at the Main Stage of the Festival on 8 July and Boris Brejcha will headline legendary mts Dance arena!
 
 


EXIT's family became richer for another member at the end of July, when the new Sunland festival launched in Bulgaria. In the first year, it gathered great performers, including Nina Kraviz, IAMDDB, Offenbach, Matador, as well as the prominent regional and domestic artists. The beautiful Perla beach, near the Bulgarian town of Primorsko, was visited by about 15,000 people during the three festival days.

Sea Dance Festival, located on the beautiful beach of Buljarica in Montenegro, ended early Monday morning after the masterful performances of Tale Of Us, Boris Brejcha and Ann Clue, and 16 hours of the closing day programme that started on Sunday afternoon! For four days, the audience enjoyed inspired performances by Maceo Plex, Meduza, Topic, Satori, and many local and regional stars. More than 25,000 people passed through the festival gates during the festival. The security protocol created at EXIT Festival was also applied at the Sea Dance Festival.

EXIT’s family will continue to grow with the first festival that is unique in the Balkans - the ADA Divine Awakening Festival of Consciousness and Intimacy. More than 40 exceptional lecturers in the fields of partnerships, sexuality and personal development will come to the magical Ada Bojana in Montenegro in September, along with well-known musicians from the region and the world. Then comes the European festival champion - EXIT's No Sleep festival, which is planned for November and will complete this extremely successful season for the EXIT team.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Boris Brejcha are the first confirmed headliners of the 21st edition of the EXIT Festival, to be held from 7th to 10th July 2022. The Early Bird sale of entry tickets, as well as camping and other services for EXIT Festival will start from 3rd of September on the official EXIT website.

The first Life Stream kicked off the EXIT 20th anniversary celebrations and reached 4 million viewers in support of the UN World Food Program

In the year in which the world music industry was brought to its knees, when most festivals in the world were either postponed or held only online, EXIT managed to realize Life Stream, a global project that will mark the festival 2020 in many ways. Instead of just the virtual world, Life Stream also offered a live experience, while recordings of the performances were then presented at an eight-day streaming festival to audiences around the world. In this way, Life Stream brought together over four million fans from around the world, with the numbers expected to exceed 10 million in the coming months.

This event also marked the start of celebration of the 20th anniversary of EXIT festival, which will culminate from July 8 to 11, 2021, when the festival awaits us in its full format with some of the world's leading stars, such as Tyga, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Eric Prydz, Boris Brejcha and many others to be announced soon.

In partnership with the United Nations World Food Program, the largest humanitarian organization in the world, EXIT launched Life Stream to raise awareness about devastating environment crisis and also to help millions of people around the planet who have come to the brink of extreme starvation due to the pandemic. 

Charlotte de Witte who performed twice, Carl Cox, Hot Since 82, Nina Kraviz, Adam Beyer, Black Coffee, Ben Klock, Paul van Dyk, Mahmut Orhan, Marcel Dettmann and many other, international and regional artists supported the project despite many obstacles and found their way to the fantastic stage of the mts Dance Arena at the Petrovradin Fortress, and to millions of fans around the world online. 

The realization of the project took place in September, first with a live festival from the 3rd to the 6th, followed by the gathering of millions of fans who watched exclusive recordings of the sets on social networks and YouTube from the 17th to the 27th. A special challenge was the organization of the event itself, but even on such a demanding task, incomparable to anything so far, EXIT showed how a completely safe event can be organized even during a pandemic.

The Life Stream program also helped launch InfinitX on September 24, Exit's new project that will combine the biggest music names with the most beautiful locations around the world in destination promotion. The first InfinitX set, which was also an important part of the Life Stream program, was filmed by Charlotte de Witte at the Mogren Fortress near Budva and delighted over a million viewers around the world in just a few days. One of them is the legendary BBC music editor Pete Tong, who, during an exclusive interview with the techno heroine, called the Budva coast around Mogren one of the most beautiful places in the world.

After the Life Stream launch last year with a pilot event at the Amsterdam Dance Event, EXIT in 2020, in cooperation with WFP, introduced a new chapter and greatly expanded the scope of its activities in which, in addition to environmental protection. Video materials and messages were broadcast as integral parts of the recordings, which spoke about the ecological mission of the project and the work of the United Nations World Food Program. The days of Life Stream were dedicated to the basic elements - earth, water, fire and air - along with their environmental problems, but also the beauty and importance for the survival of life on Earth.

 

This year's project was also an introduction to the much broader cooperation between Exit and WFP in 2021, which will mark two exceptional anniversaries, the 60th anniversary of the World Food Program and the twentieth anniversary of the EXIT festival, which will feature some of the world's biggest stars as which are David Guetta, DJ Snake, Tyga, Eric Prydz and many others.

EXIT Festival was established in 2000 in University Park as a student movement for the fight for peace and freedom, both in Serbia and in the Balkans. Over the past 20 years, it has grown into one of the most eminent music festivals in the world, bringing to Novi Sad, its venue, as many as two Best European Festival titles won for 2013 and 2017. The Festival is organized at one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe. Social responsibility remains one of the key aspects of the Festival through the work of the EXIT Foundation, whose social activism is focused on youth development, peace promotion, creative industries and environmental protection.

EXIT Festival in Serbia’s second city of Novi Sad has become one of Europe’s most famous festivals, with a reputation as an essential rite-of-passage weekender. As it approaches its 20th birthday in 2020, the festival is still innovating and branching out – but it will never forget its initial ethos of freedom, social change and youth rebellion at the beginning of the millennium. With its multiple international awards and endless stream of positive reviews, it would be all-too easy to take EXIT for granted. But here are six reasons why it’s a must on the annual festival calendar.



A force for social change
Not many modern festivals have a backstory beyond a commercial enterprise, but EXIT was formed in the spirit of genuine youth rebellion. The festival started as a 100-day student protest in 2000 against the Milosevic regime, with an idea to “Exit out of the madness” and a movement for freedom in Serbia and peace in the Balkans. The festival’s mission statement was clear from the beginning – to achieve social change with music and foster an openness with the rest of Europe and further afield. The growth of EXIT followed a long period of Serbian people feeling isolated from the rest of Europe, with young people especially embracing the change and a pride in the city. Each year EXIT has a theme, such as ‘Freedom’, ‘Summer of Love’, or 2019’s banner of ‘Tribe’, and this is laid out in the opening ceremony and promotional materials – adding to the vibe of unity and community.

The Stunning Location
Petrovaradin Fortress is simply Europe’s greatest festival setting – a 18th century citadel on a cliff overlooking the River Danube. The ‘Gibraltar on the Danube’ is visible for miles and looms large as you cross Varadin Bridge and through the archways and cobbled streets of Novi Sad Old Town leading up to a night at EXIT. Once inside you soon realise this is way beyond a session in a field. The vast site has ancient cobbled paths, grand courtyards, underground tunnels, grass verges metal staircases and moss-covered castle walls. At its highest point is the Clock Tower and its backwards clock with reverse hands – lovingly nicknamed the ‘Drunken Clock’ by locals. It’s also a perfect vantage point for a view of the city and the Danube below.

Petrovaradin Fortress is one of Serbia’s most cherished landmarks and is protected by the state, so it’s a nice touch that it’s handed over to its citizens every year for a huge party. And don’t forget the priceless bonus of the Serbian midsummer sunshine...



The whole city embraces EXIT
From the hundreds of official volunteers at the fortress, to the good-natured street vendors on Varadin Bridge selling beers from buckets of ice or barbecued corn on the cob, Novi Sad welcomes EXIT like a returning best mate every summer. The city’s main squares and cobbled streets fly exit flags and banners, and many locals give up their apartments in prime spots, with reasonable deals available on local sites or through property companies. EXIT has had such a profound effect that the festival team ran the successful bid for Novi Sad to become the European City of Culture for 2021, as well as European Youth Capital in 2019.

Prepare to be stopped by many Serbians for a chat over the weekend – they’re dying to find out where you’re from and to thank you for visiting. It’s all a huge contrast from UK city festivals that are stifled by volume restrictions, suspicious locals and finishing times of 11pm – just as EXIT is starting to get warmed up.

The wildly diverse line ups
If you quickly scan the EXIT line-up every year you’ll notice the massive names who’ve headlined, as well as top DJs and hyped acts, with Grace Jones, Liam Gallagher, The Killers, The Prodigy, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Arcade Fire, Pet Shop Boys and New Order just a few of the names who’ve visited Petrovaradin over the years. But dig deeper and you’ll find the most eclectic line-up of any festival in Europe, ranging from indie-rock and pop to techno, hip-hop, reggae, disco, folk and loads more, and if you’re brave enough, the heaviest metal on the planet at the infamous Explosive Stage. There are over 20 stages, not including random DJ sets and gigs in pop-up bars, archways and wooded areas. Certain areas even work as separate mini-festivals with boxed-off well-curated line-ups, such as No Sleep Novi Sad, which zones in on underground dance music. To go further down the rabbit hole you can even perform yourself at the Karaoke Stage.

The spectacular Dance Arena
Even though there is a specific Main Stage, the Dance Arena feels like the real jewel of EXIT, and the engine room that fuels the party till 8am over the four days. Dance Arena is a rave for 20,000 in the Fortress moat which works as an enclosed amphitheatre and its pulse can be felt throughout the whole site. It has a 60-metre speaker rig, spectacular 3D projection-mapped visuals and platforms on glass verges to take it all in, and witness the spectacular sunrise over the Danube. Many DJs have said Dance Arena is the best festival stage in the world, and former acts have included Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Dave Clarke and Nina Kraviz – who played an extra hour till 9am last year and called it “one of the most special places on Earth”.

Value for money
If you’re a UK festival veteran you’ll be allergic to overpriced tickets and food and drink costs that border on extortion rackets. But even though EXIT’s production values are off the charts – from the sound systems to the lasers shows, fireworks and performers – it’s by far the cheapest big league festival in Europe. Four-day festival passes are £99 at the minute – with a 5 tickets for the price of 4 offer. A camping pass is only £27 on top of that, and you can stay for a week. If you don’t fancy camping, local apartments are a fraction of the cost of Airbnbs in many other big cities, and likewise if you’re really treating yourself to a hotel. Once you take into account the cheap food and drink at the festival and around the city, and even the flights, you will most likely spend less than a full weekend at a UK festival.

First acts confirmed for this year's edition is the artist who wrote some of the golden pages of music history and one of techno’s “founding fathers” Sven Väth, along with the absolute leader of today's electronic music, the charismatic and unique Nina Kraviz! While Papa Sven, as he is called by his die-hard fans, is seen as a frontman of European dance music and the uncrowned king of Ibiza whose Cocoon parties have been ongoing for a record-holding 20 years, in the same time no one defines the momentum better than Nina Kraviz, probably the most sought-after DJ of today and absolute headliner of the world’s biggest music festivals. Nina marked EXIT Festival in the last two years, playing the most prestigious closing slot of legendary Dance Arena with tens of thousands of people chanting her name, calling her out to many encores, as if it had been a stadium rock show in a moment not yet seen in electronic music.

Alongside Nina and Sven, Sea Star welcomes Ilario Alicante, the winner of the Best Techno DJ award of 2018 at the DJ Awards on Ibiza who made a name for himself as one of the biggest stars of the festival circuit. The next day will be equally exciting on the nearby Nautilus Arena, with Beatport's best selling act in 2016, Enrico Sangiuliano, joined by talented local support such as Croatia's techno mainstay Petar Dundov, and rising stars DJ Jock, Lawrence Klein and Unique.



More Sea Star festival acts will follow soon in a genre-oriented manner, with the next superstar announcement arriving in just a couple of weeks! The festival’s third edition will take place in the breathtaking Stella Maris lagoon, whose 80+ thousand visitors and numerous famous music names have already placed it among the most important festivals in the Mediterranean.

For more than 35 years, the name of Sven Väth has been synonymous with revolution and innovation in electronic music. Some dare say that it would be hard to find someone else whose life work has been more connected to the creation and promotion of an essentially underground sound, as well as its breakthrough to an audience of millions, all this without making compromises. Sven’s vision, starting from his first steps in 1982, through a huge amount of published works and the club revolution on Ibiza, as well as the progressive Cocoon Recordings, has always been the acknowledgement of the positive feeling that dance music brings. This was pointed out when Frankfurt awarded him the Goetheplakette in 2015 for the exceptional contribution to the cultural life of the city. In 2019, a special year which looks back on 20 impressive years of Cocoon Ibiza, the parties that forever modified club culture’s DNA, Papa Sven will create a unique mix at the Stella Maris lagoon with his record players, just as it’s expected at the Sea Star Festival.

There is no one quite like Nina Kraviz, with such dedication and an uncompromising attitude, but above all the courage to constantly push boundaries, curiosity to break new ground, desire to learn and lead by example the global electronic scene with countless titles, one of them being the Mixmag's DJ of the Year! Her sets break up the calm waters of the techno scene with brave musical surprises and artistic risks. This is why both fans and media see Nina as the trendsetter who spearheads the world's DJ scene, her own inimitable way. Following notable sets at the EXIT festival's closings in the past years, as well as numerous headline shows on major festivals, Nina Kraviz is coming to the magical Stella Marris lagoon in the moment when the whole world is watching her every step with enthralled attention. Her unique record label трип recently released it’s 23rd vinyl with artists on the labels including Aphex Twin, Nikita Zabelin, Marc Arcadipane, PTU and many others.



The Italian producer and DJ who is bringing his name to top of the electronic ranks, Ilario Alicante, debuted at the age of 15 and has gone from a music wunderkind to a great and respected act whose tracks have been published and played by greats such as Richie Hawtin, Dubfire or Sven Väth himself. Precicely due to tracks he released through the legendary label Cocoon, Alicante earned the Best Techno Artist award in 2018, while competing against some notable acts such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Amelie Lens, Charlotte De Witte and Nastia. After gracing the stages of festivals like Awakenings and Tomorrowland, as well as numerous Cocoon and Elrow parties, end of May will see him playing at the EXIT's sister festival in Croatia.

The third edition of the Sea Star Festival will be held at the famous Stella Maris lagoon in Umag, on May 24 and 25, with the Welcome Party on May 23 and the closing party on May 26.

One of the greatest DJs of all time, and for many the very symbol of this profession, the great Carl Cox, has answered the call of fans and confirmed his return to the legendary Dance Arena at EXIT Festival next summer! Thanks to him, the energy will start high from the opening day on July 4, which he will close with a special three-hour set, lasting until the early morning hours!

This will also mark the ten-year anniversary of his famous closing set in 2009, easily one of the greatest parties in the history of electronic music. “One of the best experiences for sure is when I played at EXIT festival”, Carl confirmed and added: “You have to play you, your soul, you have to play who you are, and that's what's really special about EXIT!”



Although his connection to EXIT is strong and lasting, he hasn't played at the EXIT's Dance Arena in years, due to his decision to reduce the number of shows as much as possible. This makes each of his appearances in front of the audience an exclusive and one of the experiences that should not be missed: “Everyone in the EXIT Team are very excited to have Carl next year!”, stated the festival founder Dušan Kovačević and added: “Ever since he decided to reduce the number of his shows and perform only on special occasions, the question was whether he would ever return. The emotional invitation we sent out together with the fans has confirmed that Carl also wants to be back at EXIT to write down some of the best pages in the history books of our beloved Dance Arena.”

The return of this true DJ legend to EXIT came about after a joint effort between the festival organizers and the numerous fans. Soon after he won the annual poll where the fans voted him their no.1 wish for the Dance Arena lineup, EXIT published a video in which they invite “King Carl” to return to the fortress. The fans joined right in, sharing the video with the #CarlCoxEXIT hashtag, inviting the living legend to return in front of the “most hard-core audience”, as he called them in one of his numerous interviews about EXIT Festival. The popular DJ answered right away that he will indeed perform at officially the Best Major European Festival. In one of the interviews, Carl Cox said that EXIT is bound to get “two or three more of those in the future” after the first title won in 2013. and the prophecy indeed came true earlier this year.

Carl, come back: 



Carl Cox has been one of the most wanted DJs in the world for decades and after 15 seasons of his legendary “Revolution” parties on Ibiza, he left the Space club in 2016 as the person who made it into one of the greatest clubs in the world, after which he was crowned the unofficial king of this unique island. Apart from this, until 2017 he had his Global Radio Show which had up to 17 million listeners a week in 35 countries, after 16 years on the air.

After EXIT presented No Sleep Festival's "zero" edition at Petrovaradin Fortress in 2017, which gathered over 20,000 techno lovers and featured acts like Jeff Mills, Ellen Allien, Paula Temple, Rebekah, Vladimir Ivkovic and Jane Fitz, this year’s edition will be a whole new festival taking place in Belgrade from 16 to 18 November!

The new member is also the sixth in the festival family run by the EXIT Team, and has originated from the internationally praised No Sleep Novi Sad stage at the EXIT Festival itself. Over the past four years, No Sleep has evolved into a music platform that joins many events throughout the whole year in many global cities, including the Serbian capital where it will settle as a new festival in its own right. Spread across a full weekend, No Sleep Festival will feature a round o'clock non-stop program at multiple locations in Belgrade, including the central mammoth warehouse, known as the New Hangar in Port of Belgrade, next to Danube. It will also include lineups at city's well-known clubs like Drugstore, 20/44 and various other spots, with some of the world's most exciting electronic music acts, alongside local finest talents.

After three historic performances in EXIT finales, as well as headlining almost every other leading festival in the world, Nina Kraviz is coming back to Belgrade, the city she remembers very well for some of her earliest steps towards the global scene, outside of her native Russia. Nina returns at the moment when the whole world is watching her every move with an unprecedented attention, while her new music keeps hitting the floors in the shape of genre-bending remixes. In the same time, her distinctive record label трип just had its 20th release, a ten-track LP compilation featuring the purest forms of acid, industrial techno and even gabber. Shuffling constantly sleepless between train stations and airports, the biggest stages and the smallest of record shops, playing among the heavyweights like the one she has become herself and pushing along her side some of the least known talents, Nina remains fundamentally independent. Without any managers to run her career and call the safe shots, she draws creative people from all sides, helping others to get the much-deserved spotlight she carries with her whilst making way for the next generation headliners.

One such artist is the British-Berliner, Dax J, who conquered the world with closing sets on some of the greatest events. Many have dubbed him the best DJ of the new generation, and leading festivals have placed him among headliners. Young French rebel of mysterious identity and a striking alias, I Hate Models, is following in his footsteps. He rapidly caught the world's attention thanks to his furious Depeche Mode remixes and a list of singles spearheading the new super-exciting wave on the world electronic scene.

The No Sleep Festival will be held at several locations, while the central events with the state-of-the-art production will be held at the industrial surroundings in the Port of Belgrade, right on the shore of river Danube. After old Hangar hosted some of the world’s most prominent DJ acts, Belgrade reveals its new prime electronic music warehouse venue, bigger and much better in all production aspects. It is simply called the New Hangar and is becoming a new main spot for the largest electronic events in Belgrade, located just 1,500 m from the city's main Republic Square. Apart from the main venue, No Sleep Festival will have numerous afterparties, daytime parties, exhibitions, workshops, as well as a musical conference with panel discussions touching some of the most current topics on the electronic scene.

The No Sleep music platform, envisioned by EXIT, has been gathering some of the most exciting acts and clubbing brands in the world for the past four years. At its place of origin, the No Sleep Novi Sad stage at Exit Festival, some of the greatest clubs in the world gather each year, including: fabric, Concrete, Tresor, Sub Club, Fuse, Arma17, The Bunker New York, Nitsa, Salon des Amateurs and Grelle Forelle, as well as the local Serbian clubs, such as Drugstore, 20/44 and Tunnel. The 18th EXIT festival held on the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia, finished on Monday morning, with nearly 200,000 visitors walking through its gates in the four days and nights of the festival! Won for the second time in the past five years, the official title of the Best Major European Festival was celebrated all over the festival on its closing day that had evened a daily attendance record of 55,000 people on the Petrovaradin Fortress for what must have been the greatest EXIT's finale ever!

This year‘s edition has surpassed the previous ones with the new production of the Main Stage which featured stellar performances by the hip-hop superstars Migos, the ultimate hitmaker David Guetta, the unstoppable art-pop icon Grace Jones, American hit rocker LP, the upcoming indie-rock star Alice Merton, Sweedish avantgarde singer Fever Ray, 8-time Grammy winner Ziggy Marley, 2-time world's no. 1 DJ Martin Garrix, hitmaker and rapper French Montana, UK's fastest rising producer Jax Jones, hot French dance duo Ofenbach, mysterious producer ZHU, and many more!

The new spectacular looks were also seen at the mts Dance Arena which keept its full 25,000 people capacity from midnight until 8am each morning, thanks to its historic star-studded lineup with Richie Hawtin, Solomun, Maceo Plex, Adam Beyer b2b Ida Engberg, Amelie Lens, Joseph Capriati, Carl Craig, Tale of Us, Guy Gerber, Ben Klock, Boris Brejcha, Disciples, Kolsch, Rodhad, and many more, including the one and only, and always different, Nina Kraviz, whose closing performance once again ended the whole festival, extended its official timetable for a full hour raising the loudest ovations by the audience from 70 different countries, bringing smiles and tears to her face. She later shared: "I just played a closing 3 hours set at one of the most special places on earth. Хвала my people for staying with me in the sun until 9 in the morning. Thank you wonderful exit festival team for trusting me and inviting me to close this outstanding festival that has been uniting so many people from all over the world(...)I love you"



Other artists were truly blown away by this year's EXIT too. Grace Jones, impressed by the audience and EXIT's legendary energy, extended her show for 45 minutes while saying that she doesn't want to leave the festival. She had such a good time that she stayed for several more hours backstage chatting with the organizers until dawn.



David Guetta was also ecstatic about the fact that he played the Serbian festival since his early days, and have been a regular ever since: "EXIT, I wanna thank all of you for coming, it was so good to be back, thank you for following me on my journey, wherever I was taking you you were there, I appreciate you. EXIT I love you" Martin Garrix was also impressed: "Thank you so much for the amazing night Unreal crowd and energy" His affections were joined by Maceo Plex, who wrote on his Twitter profile: “Best festival? Very very possible” Boris Brejcha said: "EXIT I‘m in love with you" while the true courage was shown by Anastasia Kristensen, whose father just died and her set infront of 20,000 fans was dedicated to him. Megastar of the new generation, Amelie Lens, had a fantastic performance at the mts Dance Arena, after which she said: "I felt so nervous as it was my dream to play here and it was amazing! Thank you so much EXIT ". Ida Engberg, who performed with her significant other, Adam Beyer, was the witness of the famous Arena sunrise: " Sunrise set at Exit was magical! It was dark when we started to play and as we played the two last songs the sun was rising. So beautiful! Thank you EXIT!"

Ever since the first announcement of techno line-up featuring Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Ida Engberg, Ben Klock, Amelie Lens and Anastasia Kristensen, it has become clear that mts Dance Arena is starting a new era at Serbian EXIT festival! One of the biggest and most significant stages in the entire world, decided to exceed all its historical maximums this very year when EXIT holds a title of the Best Major European festival! For this occasion, a true #Arenamageddon is being prepared at the Petrovaradin Fortress, because Nina Kraviz, Solomun, Maceo Plex, Tale of Us, Carl Craig, Rødhåd and Boris Brejcha have all confirmed their presence! There is nobody like Nina, with her dedication, uncompromising attitude and, above all, courage to constantly change things, curiosity to keep experimenting, and the wish to continuously learn and lead by example the global electronic scene, with the title of the best DJ in the world in 2017! Nina will, at the same time, be the first performer in history who will close EXIT festival with her performance two years in a row, and this will be her third consecutive performance at the fortress, the record she will share this year with an equally fascinating phenomenon of the international music scene.

This phenomenon is none other than Mladen Solomun, alpha and omega of the international house scene, for whom it has become insufficient to say that he is the most popular Balkan-born musician in the world, given that in only a couple of years he has conquered the planet with the amazing ease. His directness and charm are embedded into the charisma defined by the authenticity of the region which he not only didn’t give up on, but presented to the entire world through cutting edge musical expression. And one of the places where he started his journey to the top in 2010 was EXIT itself, which he called “one of the best things he experienced”! The connection is best felt in the fact that this year he returns for the third year in a row, with his personal wish that this is his only festival performance in the Balkans this year.

Maceo Plex, mix virtuoso and an absolute headliner of the biggest festivals in the world, said a couple of years ago in a VICE documentary that he feels stage fright only when he is about to perform in the Arena. This stage fright is apparently only helping him, because his performances have so far been greeted with the loudest cheers from the audience. Unstoppable in the studio, Maceo arrives to the Arena with plethora of new material prepared for the biggest open summer festivals, the venues which perfectly fit his extremely recognizable sound. Dance Arena will also welcome masked creator of high-tech minimal techno, Boris Brejcha, whose world-wide known tracks "Lost Memory" and "My Love" will make the notorious Saturday night at Dance Arena unforgettable!

Milan-based masters of the currently leading international sound, the unmatched duo Tale of Us, this year also wish to see the first morning sun rising above the colossal trench and the packed Arena, a well known scene which reached the furthest parts of the world! The authors of great hits such as “Another Earth”, “Northern Star”, “Monument” and others, Karm and Matteo, are returning after three years, bigger than ever with possibly the most popular club brand “Afterlife”, which they founded in the time since their last encounter with the audience at the Arena!

Detroit based revolutionary and one of the founders of the global techno movement, Carl Craig, will fill the arena with the futuristic sound which will, newly produced, receive a dimension deserved by one of the true giants. EXIT Festival's Summer of Love was a huge success, gathering over 350,000 people from more than 90 countries to a run of four consecutive festivals, Sea Star in Croatia, Revolution in Romania, EXIT in Serbia, and Sea Dance in Montenegro. EXIT Summer of Love 2017 | Opening Ceremony



After EXIT Festival's first edition in 2001 was the first mass event to gather huge crowds of young people from all over the region after the civil wars in Balkans, the arrival of the Serbian festival's team to the Croatian coast for Sea Star Festival got everyone’s attention. The festival was symbolically opened by waterpolo players from all four countries where EXIT Summer of Love took place, who were swimming to the center of the lagoon and launched a water hologram with a projection that marked the 50th anniversary of the original Summer of Love 1967.

The first edition of Sea Star Festival, totalled in over 50,000 people, with the capacity of the festival needing to be increased three times, and the number of stages and zones doubled in comparison to the original plan. After such huge demand. The following boutique festival, Revolution, held in the Romanian city of Timisoara from June 1 to 3, with the new energy of EXIT Summer of Love, also broke its own record with 20,000 fans!

Globally acclaimed for almost two decades, EXIT Festival took place from July 5 to 9 with 215,000 visitors, which set the new record at the colossal Petrovaradin Fortress. This years opening ceremony also included one of world's most influential speakers Nick Vujicic, joined by the Water Protectors from the Sioux Tribe and the environmental movement Standing Rock, who gave emotional emotional speaches in front of tens of thousands, with the spirit of the 60s being revived through the live musical "Hair" with over 30 actors on the Main Stage!

EXIT headliners took home plenty of life-long memories, with even Liam Gallagher tweeting that "EXIT Festival in Novi Sad has to be 1 of the best festivals on the planet"! and closing the legendary mts Dance Arena Nina Kraviz DJ set looked more like a rock stadium spectacle with 25.000 fans cheering her name at the end and she said it was "one of the most magical dance floors in the world"!

The finale of the EXIT Summer of Love ended back to the shores of the turquoise Adriatic, to the beautiful Jaz beach in Montenegro, where the fourth Sea Dance Festival took place between July 13 and 15. After John Newman and Fatboy Slim brought the energy levels up night in and night out, the victory belonged to the Jamaican superstar, Sean Paul, who brought the main stage to boiling point! This, 15th night of this year’s EXIT Summer of Love, was taken into the morning and a spectacular sunrise by the new world techno superstar, Amelie Lens.

The British hit trio Years & Years have just confirmed that they will perform on EXIT’s main stage on Friday, July 7th! Hits of this band have been all over the world’s radio stations in the last few years, with several receiving constant daily play, with "King", "Shine", "Desire", "Take Shelter", "Eyes Shut", "Worship" and others leading the fray. Up until another EXIT star, Rag’N’Bone Man, took over with “Human”, the “Communion” album by Years & Years was the fastest selling debut album of this decade, and also the first on the British album top list! After having already enchanted audiences at Glasto, Coachella, Lollapalooza and other leading festivals of the world, they are arriving to EXIT bringing new songs written in collaboration with the electro-pop icons, Pet Shop Boys. Legendary showman, the winner of Grammy award, three Brits and 10 MTV awards, whom the "Q" magazine listed in "50 Bands to See Before You Die" list, comes at Sea Dance Festival as one the headliners of leading world festivals.

Also hailing from EXIT, the iconic No Sleep stage will debut its Adriatic edition at Sea Dance, with billing led by some of the most exciting names in the underground scene Amelie Lens, Denis Horvat, South London Ordnance, Space Dimension Controller, joined by some of the finest regional and loacal artists.



For the past three decades Norman Cook is considered as one of the world's best DJs. He is the only music star that managed to reach No.1 with three singles from different musical endeavors. As guitarist in “The Housemartins”, he charmed the global audience with hit "Caravan of Love" (1986), and did the same as a member of Beats International with song "Dub Be Good to Me" (1990). As a solo artist, he made music breakthrough with the song "Praise You" (1999). With his debut album "Better Living Through Chemistry”, he made a real boom, and the hit single "Everybody Needs a 303" won the hearts of music fans all around the world. His second album "You've Come a Long Way" went platinum, with "The Rockafeller Skank" and "Praise You" - his first hit sigle wich ruled the charts in Britain and America. Track "Weapon of Choice" and the video spot with the legendary actor Christopher Walken marked the third album "Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars" from 2000. Ten years later, he released an album and rock musical "Here Lies Love " in collaboration with David Byrne Joins, as a kind of homage to the first lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos.

No Sleep stage at Sea Dance will present several exciting acts of the electronic underground scene. On the same day as Fatboy Slim, also hailing from UK is Space Dimension Controller whose legendary Boiler Room performances (Dekmantel and Ava Fest) masterfully connects Detroit and Chicago with his native Belfast. Irish-alien controls the dimensions for the prestigious labels like Ninja Tune, R & S and Clone! On the same night, Denis Horvat, the "secret weapon" from Dixon’s Innervision label will debut at Sea Dance! Denis' gems "Cedevita" and "Momak" are praised by the likes of Maceo Plex and Dixon. The next day will welcome the new Belgian techno star Amelie Lens who exploded after a series of brilliant sets at major events and a debut for the Italian Lyase Recordings. She is the resident at the Labyrinth club, and often plays at the Fuse as a guest of the other great Belge star Charlotte de Witte who is also playing at EXIT's edition of No Sleep stage. On the same night, Sea Dance Festival will also welcome the English techno producer South London Ordnance who quickly picked up the support of giants such as Sven Vath, Surgeon, Marcel Dettmann and Adam Beyer. His sound is very unusual because it combines European retro sound, such as "cold-wave" or early "Italo-disco" with carefully designed and very modern techno sound.

Sleepless nights on the coast will host a multitude of Croatian, Serbian, and Montenegrin artist such as Insolate, Filip Xavi, TKNO, Millok, M-Tech, P.S, Rayo, Proximus, Gav, Raven, Dino R, Buba, Jan De R, Bodzie, Soft 85, Iks-Oks, and Darko Milosevic.

The frontman of Oasis and one of the true rock stars, Liam Gallagher, will headline the EXIT festival in Serbia on July 6th! The hit documentary, “Oasis: Supersonic” on a recent run in the world cinemas, presented the story of the band who, in less than 3 years, had gone from their first gig to the greatest rock concert in British history. In the survey of Q Magazine from 2010, the public voted Liam as the greatest frontman of all times, topping legends such as Freddie Mercury, Jim Morrison, Robert Plant and John Lennon! His first solo album is one of the most anticipated in 2017 and even Robbie Williams, who often had media rows with him, is excited about it: “Liam was the voice of our generation and the soundtrack to our lives. I just want him to make a really great album, the world misses him and I hope it is brilliant.”



The main festival stage also welcomes the voice of a new generation, the popular 22-year-old English singer and songwriter Jake Bugg! He is coming to EXIT after three albums at the top of UK chart and performances on some of the greatest festival stages, all leading to the NME awards for the Best Solo Artist. This year will also continue the tradition of great parties after concerts at EXIT's Main Stage, and the first one will be hosted by the electronic trio headed by Alan Walker, the author of hits “Faded”, “Alone”, “Sing Me to Sleep” and others that have totalled in over two billion YouTube views! Saturday is reserved for the popular London hip-hop and dubstep band Foreign Beggars, while a true electronic spectacle is expected on Sunday, the last day on main stage! EXIT's Main Stage closing party made of banging beats and great visual effects will be commanded by no other than one of the today's greatest DJ superstars, Hardwell!

On the same night as Liam, another stadium act, Paul Kalkbrenner, is coming to EXIT, but to the festival's notorius Dance Arena! German techno producer recently performed in front of 500.000 people at the Brandenburg gate, confirming his superstar status. On the same bill, another German whose live acts have became quite a global sensation, Recondite, will too experience the breathtaking view of the fully packed Arena! Saturday at the Arena is always reserved for the greatest hitmakers, and the first in this unstoppable list is Duke Dumont, whose summer anthems “Ocean Drive” and “I Got You” reached the top of the charts, along with a Grammy nomination! This year, Robin Schulz will finally arrive at EXIT's Dance Arena after last year's cancellation due to sudden illness, only this time with another great hit single “Shed A Light”! They will both be joined by the young French star Kungs, whose megahit “This Girl” left behind hits such as “Happy” by Pharrell or “Chandelier” by Sia on the “Shazam's Hall of Fame” list! Just like the last year's “Techno All Stars” gathering at the Arena, this year it all leads to “House All Stars”, where together with Dumont, the other most-in-demand genre representatives will be on the same bill: Jamie Jones, Hot Since 82 and Black Coffee!

Heavy guitar sounds will be delivered on the metal, punk and hardcore stage of the EXIT Festival – Explosive! First seven bands to ignite the explosive lineup are lead by the famous German thrash metal band Destruction, who are coming to EXIT with a new album, on the eponymous “Under Attack” tour which will hit about 30 cities in Europe in only the first two months of this year! Legendary British hardcore punks, Discharge, whose songs were covered by Metallica, Anthrax and Sepultura, are coming back to the fortress with their new album “End of Days”, and they will share the night with the furious Mexican band Acidez! Special place in the program is reserved for the Detroit sensation and one of the most important death metal bands of new generation, The Black Dahlia Murder, headliners of the greatest metal festivals, and a band whose social networks have millions of followers! EXIT welcomes the up-and-coming American grindcore band, Full of Hell, British skate-punks from Darko, as well as the Romanian black metal mages Dordeduh, the descendants of the cult band Negura Bungeta!

EXIT will celebrate 50 years since the Summer of Love 1967!
All four festivals by the EXIT team will also celebrate 50 years since the famous “Summer of Love 1967” next year, when the revolutionary hippie movement began and change the world forever by fighting for peace, freedom of speech, human rights, social, racial, and gender equalities. As the only contemporary music festival that grew from a struggle for social change and whose mission is to connect and foster growth in the region, EXIT would like to use this opportunity to protect the basic ideas from which the first music festivals came from during the end of 60s, such as Woodstock, Monterey and others, as well as to convey the messages of those movements which in today’s world are needed now more than ever.

EXIT Team will connect four festivals in the region in a unique EXIT Summer of Love 2017. First of them is Sea Star, a new festival in Istria, held in the city of Umag on the 26 and 27 of May, with confirmed performances by The Prodigy, Dubioza Kolektiv and Urban&4. What follows is the Revolution Festival in Timisoara, on 2 and 3 of June, and right after the EXIT Festival (6-9 July) comes the fourth edition of Sea Dance Festival (13-15 July)! After many fan pleas, the offer “1 ticket = 4 festivals” will be extended until 30 January. In that period, each EXIT Festival ticket will be valid for other 3 festivals as well!
