⌨️ Key4050 - Final Memory out on Black Hole Recordings
It‘s been twenty cycles since John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney first stoked dancefloor fires together. Indeed, you’d have to rewind right the way to the fabled Discover Records label’s 14th to find ‘Restricted Motion’ - their year-one together. (A track, incidentally still so beloved, it was re-released on vinyl just last week!).
In 2015 the pair formed their shared vision up into an absolute unit of an act. Through its Key4050 tag and 2019’s monumental thirty-track-strong ‘Tales From The Temple’ LP, they paid titular homage to their years clubbing, producing and DJing in Dublin’s North Inner City.
‘Tales’ gave clubbers and music lovers plenty to chew on. But by the same token, that was seven years ago.
Time to go again then …
Having closed the Luminosity Beach Festival with a headlining set, the Kearney/O’Callaghan alliance formally announced Key4050’s return over the summer. Ahead of that, the pair had been midnight oil-ing it in the studio, with a new album rapidly taking shape around them. Coming off the back of their Bo Bruce collab opener, September sees the pair take aim with ‘Empty Space’s follow up.
Comfortably wrapped around Key4050’s artistic coil, ‘Final Memory’ finds John and Bryan rafter-raising across bass, mids and treble. Drum-gallop and storm-force bass lock in its relentless charge, while gulp-inducing harmonic progressions catalyse its momentum further. Add to that its enigmatically-lingering “I can’t help it” female vocal + a top-of-the-drop, saw-tooth-synth kiss-off and, well, you’ve got yourself a fully certified, primetime, send-‘em-home-with-a-smile floor-weapon.
‘Final Memory’ plants a big new way-marker in Key4050’s timeline. What comes after? Well, if those ‘Temple’ ‘Tales’ are anything to go by though, it’ll be worth hanging around to find out!

SUMMARY REVIEW
“Final Memory” by Key4050 is underground, high-octane club energy that effortlessly bridges the gap between nostalgic 1990s tech-trance and modern production perfection. The track, released on Black Hole Recordings, marks a monumental milestone in the twenty-cycle alliance of Irish electronic music titans John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney. What began as a progressive, acid-tinged demo in O’Callaghan’s studio evolved into an absolute monster of a track over a single summer weekend. Inspired by the energy of the Luminosity Beach Festival, Kearney reworked the arrangement into a relentless, peak-time weapon that ultimately served as the dramatic closing anthem for their headlining set, cementing its status as the second major single from their highly anticipated studio album.
Operating at a blistering pace of 138 BPM in the key of A Major, the track immediately commands attention with its complex, driving rhythm section. A powerful "drum-gallop" and storm-force sub-bassline form a devastatingly tight foundation, meticulously sidechained to a punchy, warehouse-ready kick drum. This engineering precision leaves ample headroom for the low-mid frequencies to breathe, preventing the mix from becoming muddy despite the high-velocity low-end. Layered over this rhythmic engine are raw, hypnotic acid lines and dark, tribal undertones that pay direct homage to the legendary late-1990s rave era, channeling the spirit of iconic venues like Dublin's historic Temple Theatre.
The centerpiece of the production lies in its brilliant manipulation of space, tension, and texture. An enigmatically lingering female vocal sample repeating the phrase "I can't help it" acts as a psychological hook, morphing from a dry, isolated element into an immersive, wide texture during the slow-filtering build-ups. Rather than relying on cheap drops, Key4050 utilizes sophisticated spatial design, introducing long, automated delay lines and expansive reverbs that pull the listener deep into the arrangement. The ultimate sonic payoff arrives at the top of the drop, where a signature, aggressive saw-tooth synth kiss-off slices through the mix with a biting high-mid resonance, raising rafters and ignuring dancefloors with pristine, full-spectrum instrument separation.
This technical brilliance has translated into a unanimous wave of acclaim across the global trance community, where fans on Reddit and label platforms have hailed it as pure gold. Attendees of its summer festival debut recall it as a futuristic, space-battle anthem that perfectly captures the uncompromised spirit of underground electronic music. Bedroom producers and club veterans alike have heavily praised the duo's sonic engineering, marveling at how they successfully modernized classic, old-school rave tropes without sacrificing dynamic range or falling into the trap of over-compression. Ultimately, "Final Memory" stands as a fully certified, primetime floor-weapon that honors the past while blazing a bold, state-of-the-art trail into the future of tech-trance.#PureGold #LoveIt

Modeā and Bryan Kearney team up to deliver 'Ready to Fly', a melodic trance production defined by massive melodies and a powerful drop. The arrangement features an atmospheric vocal and a wide lead to build tension throughout the breakdown.

[item value="10"]Modeā & Bryan Kearney - Ready to Fly [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] Modeā and Bryan Kearney arrive on Musical Freedom with Ready To Fly, a track that feels more like a signal flare for where trance is headed. Built on towering melodic instincts, it unfolds with a sense of poise, the kind that grips you early and refuses to loosen its hold. The breakdown leans into a beautifully suspended vocal, almost weightless, while a broad, luminous lead line stretches across the mix, tightening the emotional pull with every passing phrase. When the drop finally lands, it surges. There is power here, certainly, but it is guided by emotion rather than brute force. The production is polished, carrying a fluid, modern sheen that allows its emotional core to shine through without distraction. It is that balance between scale and sensitivity that gives the track its lasting impact. What stands out most is the chemistry. Kearney’s driving intensity meets Modeā’s melodic finesse in a way that feels instinctive. Together they carve out a sound that feels contemporary without chasing trends, confident in its identity whilst pushing the genre forward. This is exactly the kind of record that defines trance in 2026. It is expansive, emotive, and unafraid to reach for something greater. With figures like Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren & John O Callaghan continuing to spotlight this evolving sound, Ready To Fly has all the makings of a global smash, the sort of production that flirts from festival main stages to late night headphones without losing a shred of its magik. Originally released on Discover Records, 'Restricted Motion' quickly became a staple of the golden era. Now in 2025, Lostly rebuilds the classic from the ground up, carrying it into tougher, more modern territory.

The original melody remains, but here it’s reframed with that unmistakable Lostly power and cutting-edge production: driving, relentless, and primed for the late hours. Since June, the remix has been a fixture in both John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney’s sets, always drawing a reaction.

[item value="10"] O'Callaghan & Kearney - Restricted Motion (Lostly Remix) [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Lostly’s 2025 remix of O’Callaghan & Kearney’s “Restricted Motion” is seamlessly bridging the golden era origins of the track with today’s cutting-edge sound design. From the very first beat, the track asserts itself with a robust 140 BPM drive, its sharp kicks and formidable low-end basslines immediately establishing a floor-shaking presence. The percussion is meticulously engineered, with crisp hi-hats and layered snares interlocking to create a relentless rhythmic momentum that powers the track forward without ever feeling crowded. The melodic content retains the soul of the original, yet Lostly’s treatment elevates the harmonic layers into a higher plane of intensity and emotional impact. Each synth line is carefully sculpted, with warm pads and sparkling arpeggios weaving into a rich stereo field, creating an immersive environment that envelops the listener. The long, teasing breakdown is a highlight: the main lead slowly emerges from spacious, reverb-laden atmospheres, building tension with dynamic modulation and subtle filter sweeps. By the time the climax erupts, the layered synths and driving bass coalesce into a euphoric explosion designed to send festival crowds into a frenzy. Production-wise, Lostly demonstrates a meticulous understanding of modern loudness and clarity. The dynamic range is preserved, allowing the drops to hit with maximum force while the quieter passages maintain depth and breathing room. Effects and spatial design are utilized tastefully: delays and reverbs open up the mix without washing out the central motifs, and stereo imaging provides a sense of movement and three-dimensionality across the frequency spectrum. Every detail, from the subtle risers to the percussive flourishes, contributes to a coherent narrative flow that makes the track a journey as much as a peak-time weapon. In terms of arrangement, the remix keeps DJs in mind, offering clean intro and outro sections for seamless mixing and well-defined cue points for creative looping. The energy flow is expertly calibrated: builds and drops land with precision, ensuring both club and festival suitability. Even without vocals, the track’s emotional resonance is undeniable, with its soaring lead and perfectly timed transitions delivering both nostalgia and fresh excitement. Lostly’s artistic identity shines throughout, transforming “Restricted Motion” into a piece that feels simultaneously like a respectful homage and a forward-thinking powerhouse, guaranteed to remain in heavy rotation for any trance set seeking pure euphoria. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Bryan Kearney returns with “I Need Your Love”, a soaring trance production that channels the euphoric spirit of the late ’90s while offering a polished, modern sound. This track sits firmly in the uplifting trance realm at 140 BPM, a tempo beloved by high-energy DJs who thrive on driving dancefloor momentum. From a technical standpoint, the production showcases Kearney’s meticulous layering and arrangement. The bassline is tight, punchy, and sidechained to the kick to create that pumping effect characteristic of peak-time trance. The kick drum itself has an old-school, pounding tone, reminiscent of the classic hard trance records, yet it’s processed with modern EQ and transient shaping for maximum clarity in large festival sound systems. The synth work is a standout: shimmering lead riffs and arpeggios that build and resolve tension in waves, recalling the monumental eurodance-inspired melodies of the late ’90s. Wide stereo pads fill the background, while subtle reverb and delay automation create a sense of space and movement throughout the breakdowns and builds. The breakdown is especially notable for its use of a classic vocal sample, filtered and layered with lush reverb, gradually opening to full frequency for that hands-in-the-air emotional release. On the mastering side, “I Need Your Love” is clean and powerful, with a balanced low end to drive club sound systems and a bright, sparkling top end that highlights the melodic elements without becoming harsh. The transitions are seamless, making it a dream to mix for DJs in uplifting and peak-time sets. t’s easy to see why uplifting trance DJs adore this track: it combines nostalgia with fresh energy, delivers a perfect emotional build and release, and slots effortlessly into modern sets. Already gathering heat in the club circuit, this rework of Lightforce’s classic ‘Join Me’ has Bryan Kearney’s signature quality written all over it. Fusing UK garage textures with the timeless trance sound, this update is primed to bowl over crowds on dance floors worldwide.

[item value="10"]Lightforce & Bryan Kearney - Join Me[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Bryan Kearney’s rework of Lightforce’s classic “Join Me” is a masterclass in modern trance production, fusing high-octane energy with meticulous sound design. Already making waves in the club circuit, this 140 BPM tech trance stormer offers a perfect balance between power and emotional resonance, making it a must-hear for fans of both uplifting and tech trance. From the first beat, the track establishes its identity through a dark, brooding bassline that utilizes layered low-end synthesis and subtle saturation to create that moody, immersive foundation. The kick is tight and punchy, sidechained perfectly against the sub frequencies to give the groove relentless drive. Over this, Kearney introduces UK garage-influenced percussive textures, adding off-beat shuffles and syncopated hi-hat patterns that inject movement and forward momentum—an unexpected twist for a trance rework. What truly elevates this version are the arrangement and dynamic transitions. The track teases the iconic “Join Me” melody and ethereal vocal snippets sparingly in the early sections, using filters, reverb tails, and granular delays to keep the crowd on edge. When the first breakdown arrives, Kearney strips the energy back to a floating bed of pads and that instantly recognizable piano motif. This piano is processed with a touch of stereo widening and a wet reverb chain, allowing it to bloom in the mix and send literal goosebumps across the floor. The build-ups are constructed with precision—rising white noise sweeps, pitch-bent risers, and gated vocal echoes create tension without overloading the spectrum. Then comes the in-your-face climax, where the lead synths surge forward in layered supersaw form, but with a dark, industrial edge that sets this apart from standard euphoric trance. The second breakdown mirrors the first but introduces more harmonic variation, deepening the emotional impact before plunging back into the driving main section for a final floor-filling release. From a production standpoint, Kearney’s attention to EQ carving, stereo imaging, and transient control is evident. The track maintains crystal clarity despite its dense layers, with every element—from the brooding bassline to the sparkling arpeggios—sitting precisely in its sonic pocket. His use of subtle automation throughout (filter sweeps on the leads, LFO-driven volume modulation on atmospheric layers) keeps the track alive and constantly evolving. For uplifting trance lovers, this rework offers the emotional highs and melodic satisfaction they crave, especially in the piano-driven breakdowns. Meanwhile, tech trance enthusiasts will appreciate the driving low end, the hypnotic percussive work, and the industrial grit that gives the drops undeniable peak-time power. This is a track that not only honors the original but also expands its reach, bridging classic trance nostalgia with modern, forward-thinking production. Simply put: Bryan Kearney has delivered #PureGold, and it’s poised to be a staple in both festival sets and underground clubs alike. #Love IT [/content]

[item value="10"]Mauro Picotto & Bryan Kearney - Proximus [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Transcending time like many other Mauro Picotto classics, "Proximus" is back in the spotlight through this standout reinterpretation by Bryan Kearney. This version is an exemplary showcase of modern trance production, blending the nostalgic elements of the original with cutting-edge technical prowess. At its core, "Proximus" operates at a brisk 140 BPM, a hallmark of uplifting trance. The track opens with an energetic driving bassline, meticulously crafted to deliver both depth and dynamic movement. The bassline is layered with precision, employing sidechain compression techniques to ensure it breathes seamlessly with the pulsating kicks. These kicks are tightly EQ'd, offering a punchy, clean low-end that cuts through the mix without overwhelming other elements. The rhythmic structure is enriched by metallic drums and percussive elements that have been processed with reverb and delay effects, creating a spacious yet cohesive soundstage. These elements are dynamically automated to evolve throughout the track, adding to the overall progression and maintaining listener engagement. One of the standout features is the brilliant breakdown, where Bryan Kearney masterfully utilizes the ethereal chorus vocals. These iconic chants are treated with atmospheric reverb and subtle delay to enhance their haunting quality, while careful EQing ensures clarity and presence without clashing with the synth layers. The vocals sit atop lush pads and ambient textures, which provide a serene contrast before the track builds towards its climax. The transition from the breakdown to the drop is a textbook example of tension and release. Kearney employs rising white noise sweeps, pitch-bending effects, and filtered synth risers to escalate anticipation. This leads to an explosive climax characterized by soaring euphoric synths. These lead synths are crafted using a combination of saw waves, layered with detuned oscillators to create a rich, wide stereo image. Advanced modulation techniques, including LFO-driven filter sweeps and envelope shaping, give the synths a dynamic, evolving quality. The production is polished with meticulous attention to detail, from the stereo imaging to the crispness of the hi-hats and the smoothness of the transitions. The mixdown ensures that every element has its space, and the mastering process adds the final sheen, delivering a track that is both powerful and emotionally resonant. Bryan Kearney's reinterpretation of "Proximus" is more than just a tribute; it's a rejuvenation that honors the past while embracing the future of trance music. This track is pure gold, a euphoric journey that resonates with fans old and new. #PureGold LoveIT [/content]
