In 1990, Moby's label asked him to deliver a remix for one of his debut releases "Go". It was one of the first remixes he ever released, inspired by David Lynch and "Twin Peaks". The chapter, 'Black Lacquer' in Moby's book "Porcelain" describes it in great detail. See below for an excerpt.
“Outer Rhythm, a label in the UK had expressed interest in releasing ‘Go,’ but they’d only release it if I made a new mix so it didn’t seem like an old record." When they cut to Leland Palmer’s house, ‘Laura Palmer’s Theme’ started playing - the best and darkest piece of music in the Twin Peaks score.  I needed something to add to the remix of ‘Go’ I was working on and wondered if I could sample ‘Laura Palmer’s Theme’ and use that. I turned on my Yamaha SY22 keyboard and found a string sound I liked.  I played three notes in ‘Laura Palmer’s Theme’ on top of it.  And it worked.  The chords were long and languorous, but they worked with the skittish bass line and the looping drums. It was missing something: Badalamenti’s low, droning piano.  I added the low part with my Oberheim piano module, and the remix suddenly came together.  Now it needed arrangement.  I’d start the remix with the Twin Peaks strings and piano. Then add a kick drum. Then bring in the percussion and drums.  Then the strings went out and the weird digital synth swoop came in. And it was basically done. Or did it need something else?"
To honour the creative spirit and collaborative power of remixing, “Go (Woodtick Mix)” have been reworked by some of today’s most innovative DJs and producers, Rex The Dog, Andrew Claristidge & System Divine.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Go is considered as one of the monumental moments of electronic music and still it gives you goosebumps whenever and wherever you hear it. Go has been remixed by many different artists and this package includes the more electronic surprising innovative takes. Rex The Dog delivers the superb electro disco version with Giorgio Moroder basslines, rolling grooves and the classic Yeahh vocal sample while in the breakdown we enjoy the awesome strings with the incredible cinematic quality. In the climax the synthy hook and basslines follow the main melody that will always stay in our heart and in the final breakdown we get a  very nice breakbeat section as well. System Divine remix applied a very tough old school metallic basslines, bouncy techy drums and includes all the well known vocal samples, strings and the awesome piano chord. The result is an incredible record that can crossover to various sets and will bring some tears in your eyes.   Andrew Claristidge Remix is an 11 minutes rework that will please those who search for depth, artistry and emotional elements in any record. Deep electronica that can be played in techno, house or even trance sets. Quality always wins for sure. #PureGold Love It [/content]

A hot contender for the summer hit in 2015 is probably unique Moby's "Almost Home" in the MÖWE Remix. The song is the absolute guarantee of early summer feeling and anticipation for party nights, which ends only at dawn! Not without reason, Sierra Tequila and Paloma Lemonade have picked the song for their television campaign in cooperation with the video streaming service Ampya.

But give all other remixes a listen too. Sebastien’s version, which is the newest re-interpretation, has something magic in his deep-house/dance style and gains a lot of support by names like Tiesto, Steve Angello, Lexer, Bakermat, Klingande, Faul, Flic Flac, Goldfish, Thomas Jack, David K or Robin Schulz. So to the HUGEL and Christian Liebeskind remix which resound through every cell of the body and drives us to euphoric cries of joy.

With TEEMID Edition and the Vijay & Sofia Zlatko remix one can clearly feel there is love in the air. Everyone perceives them. Warm sunshine mix with swirling cherry blossoms and enchanting being. Friends dancing in the park and enjoy life. The haunting vocals of Damien Jurado and the indescribable melody make this musical piece of cake into something very

Dimitri Kechagias review: The exceptional track Almost Home by Moby is back in 2015 with magnificent set of high class remixes that will get many plays on radio stations and deep house tents in the festivals. MOWE remix is the most prolific here with driving deep haunting basslines, live like percussion with great drum programming, vintage melodies and stunning atmosphere that make you feel relaxed and eager to run on the dancefloor and let the night take the blame. Sebastien from Hamburg presents his brilliant soft and soothing deep house version with great melancholic pianos, cinematic strings and fantastic application of Damien's outstanding vocals that make the difference upon the nu disco / indie dance groove. Emotional. sensitive, hair raising and perfect for lazy summer Sunday afternoons! HUGEL remix moves on the same deep house direction with additional element the very cool euphoric synthy riff that adds to the track its balearic Ibiza feel recalling Cafe Del Mar.  Christian Liebeskind Remix will win your attention with great piano themes and xylophone melodies along with claps and deep rolling basslines. Truly magical remix that lifts the track to the next level. TEEMID Edition is a slower version with garage house basslines, lazy grooves and fantastic tropical summery atmosphere. Lastly the brilliant duo Vijay & Sofia Zlatko Remix is a relaxing deep house version with bubbly basslines, nu disco basslines, great drum programming and piano hooks to keep you infected for long! #PureGold Love It

Dimitri Kechagias review: There is always a big excitement when I receive remix package on Moby's tracks cause simply I know that the legendary artist selects the highest quality producers who deliver their best remixes for him. The Last Day with Skylar Gray is an exceptional track that will find supporters in the club scene thanks to the brilliant remixes. First of all Coyu & Ramiro Lopez provide the powerful tribal house version that is relentlessly building up the tension with chopped vocals upon the mindboggling grooves with appearance of the sweet melancholic strings and parts of the vocal just to remind us what we are listening. Hypnotic, arousing, exciting and ready for peak  time moments in your dj set.  Chymera Remix is a nearly 10 minutes deep house meets trance track that applies bubbly haunting basslines, minimal techy grooves, fantastic dark moody atmosphere and cinematic strings and mid 90's along with the full intoxicating vocals by Skylar Gray that stands out.  David Mayer Remix  is an equally epic deep house version with brooding haunting basslines, superb drum programming, excellent electronic melodies riffs, distorted vocal parts and even electric guitar riffs. Great remix that has unique sound and exotic atmosphere.  Last but not least Moby May 14 Remix is a magnificent electronic chill out version that is relaxing, cinematic and absolutely mesmerising perfect for the next Cafe Del Mar style album! #PureClass #PureGold Love iT
