Armin van Buuren recently has shared all details of the daytime programme, completing the full weekend itinerary. Van Buuren did so in spectacular fashion, performing live from a tram driving through Rotterdam’s city centre. The world-renowned DJ was joined by long-time A State of Trance collaborator Ferry Corsten as well as Maddix and Ruben de Ronde to name a few. Most notably, Armin van Buuren was joined on stage by Joris Voorn, the two iconic DJs performed back to back for 30 minutes.
The A State of Trance daytime programme will be hosted on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 February at the official A State of Trance Hotel in Rotterdam’s bustling Kop van Zuid district. The programme has four themes; mindfulness, talent, art and knowledge, each of which tied into the music industry in their own unique way.
During the A State of Trance day programme, Armin van Buuren, industry insiders, and fellow DJs will provide a behind-the-scenes look and extensively discuss the four themes. Additionally, the day program at the A State of Trance Hotel will feature photo exhibitions, yoga sessions, and pre-parties. Van Buuren himself will contribute to the mindfulness segment of the program. Recently, he highlighted this theme on his new album "Breathe In," where he allowed the positive developments in his personal mental well-being to shine.

The news was revealed in a dedicated episode of A State of Trance Radio, recorded live from the top floor of the highest residential building in the Benelux. The live broadcast was followed by an exclusive performance by Armin van Buuren after which van Buuren reiterated his excitement for the future of the brand;
“Utrecht has been an incredible place for the past years. We’ve all made countless memories there; I myself even went to my first rave in the Jaarbeurs venue back in 1993, and I’ve also hosted some of my Armin Only shows there. But unfortunately, they’re tearing down the iconic hall that housed our mainstage every year, so we’ve no choice but to look elsewhere. So I’m proud to say that we’re moving A State of Trance from Utrecht to… Rotterdam! The city offers infinite possibilities to build out and strengthen the legacy of A State of Trance and I’m thrilled for us to build an even more exciting future for A State of Trance in Rotterdam!”
The complete take-over of the city is the embodiment of A State of Trance’s next theme, DESTINATION, providing fans with an experience unlike anything a single entity in dance music has done. Part of the excitement comes from the city of Rotterdam’s dedication to the event, fully opening up the city to the arrival of A State of Trance. A State of Trance 2024 in Rotterdam will see performances of over 70 artists spread out across five different stages. The multitude of stages allow for musical diversification as well as playing host to the iconic A State of Trance sound.

About ALDA
ALDA is one of Europe’s leading event promoters and producers, as well as a frontrunner in concept development in the electronic music scene with events like Armin Only, A State of Trance, AMF, We Are Connected, New Horizons, and The Flying Dutch. Over the years ALDA has diversified their portfolio from mainly dance into new genres, including Latin with Pal Mundo Festival – headlined by J Balvin and Maluma, and hip-hop with OH MY! Festival. Which saw performances from the biggest names in urban; Lil Baby, Rick Ross, WizKid and Tyga. Part of ALDA’s image is their partnership with Insomniac, one of the USA’s key players in the event scene. Together ALDA and Insomniac are catering to an enormous global audience, presenting top of the line events on multiple continents.
Carl Cox has recently reconfigured his performances into a hybrid live set up, (re-)creating music on the go in a way he has never done before.
“It’s become increasingly difficult to stand out from the crowd in the DJing realm these days, so many people have become one! There are loads of DJs for each genre and so much variety within each genre as well but there aren’t that many live performing electronic artists. With this new set up I’m trying to turn another corner in my career and push the space I’m in into a new level. I’ve got 35, 40 years in this game so I deeply care about it and where it’s going, I hope that I can contribute to it in a way through these performances. Says Carl Cox when speaking of the new concept.
This new set up will be brought to life by Insomniac’s Secret Project Festival exclusively in Amsterdam. The festival is uniquely focussed on a single stage, highlighting the iconic headlining performer. Secret Project Festival is well-regarded for their stage design capabilities as well as their inclusion of contemporary art pieces on their sites. With Secret Project putting all of their expertise into the production of the show and Carl Cox at the genesis of a performing renaissance, this live show is due to be one of the most talked about events of the summer.
With two widely celebrated ADE events wrapped up at the Hembrugterrein, the Secret Project crew are no strangers to the location. The organisation’s thorough familiarity with the festival site as well as their long-standing reputation as industry leaders in event production undoubtedly make for a top tier event. The Hembrugterrein, once serving as an industrial area, was repurposed as a creative and cultural hub in 2003 and has now evolved into the perfect backdrop for festivals and events.
Pre-registration for exclusive early ticket access is open now until Sunday January 15th 23:59 CET via europe.secretproject.com. Regular ticket sale starts on Monday January 16th at 12:00 CET. Tickets are available starting from €49,50 ex.fee.

About A State of Trance
Having evolved from a small radio show into a wide-ranging and far-reaching brand with many different spin-offs, ‘A State of Trance’ is one of the world’s biggest and most popular dance music brands. Built from the ground up since the very first episode of Armin van Buuren’s radio show in 2001, ASOT now entails a globally acclaimed label and a breathtaking event series to boot, drawing tens of thousands of music lovers from all over the globe
The fairly new, but immensely popular festival adds Fatima Yamaha (LIVE), HAAi, KlangKuenstler, Marco Carola, Michael Bibi, Skream, Sven Väth and many more to its line-up
After a monumental sold-out first edition in 2021, Secret Project Festival is set to take place during the Amsterdam Dance Event again in 2022. The LA-born festival has added a stellar list of artists to the line-up, including Fatima Yamaha (LIVE), HAAi, Marco Carola, Michael Bibi, Patrick Topping, Skream and Sven Väth.
With a line-up of massive proportions, Secret Project Festival is sure to be one of the stand out events at this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event. Close to 30 house, techno and tech-house heavyweights will perform across four stages throughout the day. From veterans like Marco Carola to the leaders of the new generation like Michael Bibi, Secret Project Festival has something to offer for a wide array of dance music fans.
Like the previous edition, Secret Project Festival will be held at het Hembrugterrein, an extraordinary venue across the water from Amsterdam’s harbor. Once serving as an industrial area, het Hembrugterrein was repurposed in 2003 as a creative and cultural institution while maintaining its original look, making it the perfect setting for multi-sensory events that Secret Project Festival has become so well-known for.
During Amsterdam Dance Event 2021, Insomniac brought its successful house and techno concept to European soil for the first time. Boasting a sold-out crowd, the anticipation was extremely high in the run up to the event, which took place across five different stages, each with a different visual concept and styles of music for everyone to enjoy alongside sculptures, light fixtures and much more to be entertained by. The festivalgoers partied well into the night, from the gates opening to a rush of those eager to see what the festival had in store for them to the sounds of the underground styles of relentless techno and deep, melodic house and tech-house with artists such as CamelPhat, Ben Böhmer and Loco Dice B2B Marco Carola spearheading the lineup. The industrial vibe of the location went hand in hand with the musical styles, creating a top notch audio visual delight for all involved. The Secret Project Festival European debut proved to be more than successful.
Born out of the bustling Los Angeles underground music scene, Secret Project Festival has been making waves in Europe with a string of widely acclaimed events. The first venture into the European market came with Secret Project Festival ADE 2021. About ALDA

Aside from diversifying in musical genres, ALDA is also looking at new frontiers geographically, taking part in the growing festival scene in Eastern Europe with Romania’s biggest dance festival SAGA. Part of ALDA’s image is their partnership with Insomniac, one of the USA’s biggest players in the event scene. We’re super stoked to finally welcome all of you in the Arena in Amsterdam again for our 10th anniversary. On the 22nd of October we’ll be 40.000 strong from all corners of the globe and we couldn’t wish for a better way to celebrate this important milestone with you. Together with dance music’s biggest acts, from Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix and Tiësto to Afrojack and Nicky Romero we’re sure this will be an evening that goes down in the history books.
As we’re looking ahead at what the next decade will bring, we felt it time to sail a new course. Together with DJ Mag we’ve announced 10 #1 DJs and celebrated some of the biggest moments in electronic music. However from this year onwards we’re ending this chapter as the Top 100 returns as a broadcast show in a separate event. The closing of this chapter of our story with DJ Mag opens the doors for us to be more creative in what we do during the night – expect a spectacular show celebrating 'A Decade Of Dance'. We are looking forward to the next 10 years of AMF!
DJ Mag Managing Director, Martin Carvell, said of the change: “After a decade of incredible events during ADE, working with our partners ALDA, this year we will be celebrating the Top 100 DJs with a broadcast show. We have made the change so that we can celebrate more of the DJs who are part of the Top 100 DJs around the world, while continuing to reflect the global nature of the voters. It allows us to bring our charity partner UNICEF into full focus, and to make sure that the Top 100 DJs show reflects the values of DJ Mag as a publication.”
