Long regarded as Russia’s foremost electronic music duo, put simply Moonbeam create music unlike anyone else on the planet. Following 2009’s ‘Around The World’, ‘The Secret’ (2011) and the Original Soundtrack to their 2013 feature-length movie ‘The Random’, Moonbeam’s fourth international album ‘Atom’ follows in the Khvaleev brothers’ grand tradition of the untraditional.

‘Atom’ is another tight-as-they-come, 10-track compression of leading-edge sounds & studio techniques that determinedly slalom around block-terminology & categorization. Drawing on a flourishing home-grown talent pool of singer/songwriters - Avis Vox, Eva Pavlova, Irina Makosh, Aelyn, Sopheary & Deniz Reno among them, they further lend the otherworldly ether & atmosphere that mark the Khvaleevs extraordinary sound.

So prepare to take another trip to electronic music’s otherside, as Black Hole Recordings once again proudly present the extraordinary long-playing ethereal-ism of Moonbeam.

Mood house? Dream-prog? Dark-trance? Or just straight deep, dark, moody & dreamy everything – there’s no one more averse to classifying what they do in the studio than Moonbeam themselves.

Within ‘Atom’s opening 5 minutes, that ‘off-piste’ nature is put into the sharpest of perspectives. Engaging sounds & FX from the deep-space recesses of their studio boxes, ‘Atom’s title track begins to outline Moonbeam’s next album mission.

Lucid, honest introspection is Irina Makosh vocal/lyrical forte. Backed by the bass thrum of Pavel & Vitaly’s guitar strings, the Russian chanteuse first smolders, then burns on ‘Still Believe’. Having voxed Moonbeam’s ‘You Win Me’ & ‘Hero Of Hope’ (as well as music from a litany of other international artists), ‘Shades Of Black’ sees the stunning vocal return of Ukrainian songstress Aelyn.

With 10 or more Moonbeam credits to her name, Avis Vox is undoubtedly now Pavel & Vitaly’s foremost vocal medium-cum-muse. She brings her lyrical incision to ‘13th World’, as the Khvaleevs echo their nature with aquatically inspired, aquiline shaped sounds and timbered percussion.

Russian singer Ange (previously featured on releases from Get Physical, Tiger, Baroque and others) delivers her softly sung, yet soulfully bared turn to the deeply bewitching ‘Atmospheric’. Recent single ‘Follow Me’ meanwhile is a co-write with the Ukrainian-based DJ, producer, TV & film soundtrack composer, Indifferent Guy. He brings yet more filmic touch and cinematic nuance to Moonbeam’s music, while Eva Pavlova affords the track its near-poetic paean and intoxicating (and in no small way) beguilingly vocals.

Initially deep house in the engine room and supremely chilled trance up top, xylophone meets chip-tone on ‘Soulstring’, as they factor another star gaze instrumental into ‘Atom’s astronomy. Reinforced by Moonbeam’s brilliantly trippy beats and mind-bend synthesizers, under her Loolacoma alias Avis Vox returns to the mic to open the album’s third act with the seductively sung ‘Black Skies’.

Seattle-based vocalist Sopheary picks her words & intonations with manifest care on ‘Heaven’, as Moonbeam closely track its feel with swimming melodics and punchy drum programming. Every bit as authentic and cultured, Deniz Reno delivers the album’s swansong with the torchlight closeout of ‘Memories’.

With ‘Atom’ your taxi to the darker, more thought provoking side of electronic music awaits! Step aboard this May 18th.

Two brothers driven by one united sound vision, such is the origin of Russia’s illustrious Moonbeam. Powered by their industrious production ethic, Pavel & Vitaly Khvaleev’s unique diversion of trance has found them swiftly in favour with EDM’s DJ glitterati. Underlining their inimitable spin on the sound, their studio ware is as regularly supported by the likes of van Buuren, van Dyk, Schulz and Corsten, as it is Axwell, Tiësto and Digweed. Having created floor uproar through 100s of DJ sets and live Moonbeam shows, they’ve soundtracked hundreds of thousands of EDM nights for clubbers around the world. In 2009, through a combined force of productions & performances, they entered DJ Magazine’s annual list of the world’s best DJs. There they have remained for the last four years, most recently re-entering the Top 100 in 2012. With 3 official full-length artist albums already marking waypoints in their career, early 2013 was released their fourth long-player - the widely anticipated OST ‘The Random’.

Moonbeam The DJs: Emanating from the major east Russian metropolis of Nizhny Novgorod, as both DJs and a live act, Pavel and Vitaly have built up a formidable reputation. Their entrancing stage performances have resulted in a committed bedrock fanbase in their home country. To date they have smashed many a mainline event, tent-pole festival and iconic club. In 2010 they supported Tiësto on his tour of the Ukraine and last year rocked the goliath Kazantip festival. As their music’s begun to proliferate worldwide, demand to see the brothers themselves perform abroad intensified. They’ve subsequently played countries as contrasting as China and France, Japan, the Czech Republic and South Korea.

The Music: much has been made of Moonbeam’s singular take on dance music. At once harmonic and heartfelt, it is also effecting, consciously filmic and emotively poignant. A direct by-product of their shared musical influences (Röyksopp, Radiohead, Massive Attack and Björk are among regularly cited Moonbeam stimuli), it notably stands apart from the rest of post-millennial trance.

Catchy motive, space melody and simple vocal sample - that's all that a tune need to be stuck in your head.

Enjoy original or dub version!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The Russian brothers Moonbeam are back on their own record label with another stand out track that is not so easy to categorise on which style belongs. No One is an exceptional piece of electronic music with progressive house, trance and techno infusions merged together in order to come up with their own unique travelling inspiring cinematic sound that stands out from the rest. Moonbeam should be credited for having an easily identifiable style that doesn't afraid to experiment and rejoice the joy of music making that is to embrace the new and come up with something that has musicality, clever arrangement and definitely is not just a product or commodity. It's real art with new sounds and in the case of No One with mesmerising magical vocals that work like a treat to support your mind and soul to escape in magical places. Hypnotised with closed eyes waiting for that secret door to open and then there is no ticket to return! #PureGold Love it

Our world is a mystery. Our universe is something that we cannot fully understand.

Thousands of years humanity tries to explain different natural phenomena and the meaning of human existence. All of us have tried to find that thing that can explain everything. We call it 'The Key' of life.

Different people are different in their ways of searching this key. Someone expresses it in words and in some theories. Someone draw a pictures, where he describes his meaning of 'The Key' of life.

But one of us for the first time tried to find this key in music. This someone is a Moonbeam brothers and it's no coincidence. This duo many years ago became our music guides in space clouds and now they want to bring us to the next step. They want to show your their attempt of searching 'The Key' of life.

And who knows, is this answer right or wrong. They are still in search.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Moonbeam always stand out from the rest of the electronic dance music artists because they are multi-talented and can deliver high class productions. Moonbeam are not afraid to challenge our perceptions and expectations and always remodel, reshuffle and reinvent themselves in the most creative direction. Their brand new single The Key is magnificent and absolutely breathtaking. It starts with cool spoken vocal sample that sets the frame to understand through it this very inspirational unique track. It is not clear if we can label it as progressive trance or progressive house or even melodic techno. The Key is so fresh and exciting because it applies successfully elements from all these substyles in order to come up with a magical composition that can be labelled as Moonbeam style. Deep bubbly basslines, chunky crunchy groove, haunting strings, airy pads and superb dark atmosphere that captivate our imagination straight away and absorb us in its chaotic and so pleasurable soundscapes. The very interesting twist on that track is the addition of psytrance influenced synthy lead that appears in the climax of the track and suddenly adds that aggressive sharp edge to it. It's one of those tracks that you play it and the crowd is not sure what to expect. Particularly the climax will blow many speakers and elevate your dj set to the next level. Moonbeam always impress and open doors in our imagination. This track is definitely the right Key for multiple sonic experiences and sensations of the mind! #PureGold Love it
