Armin van Buuren and Andrew Bayer come together on Serendipity, a melodic, vocal-driven release featured on the A State of Trance 2026 compilation, celebrating 25 years of ASOT. Released on Thursday 7th of May alongside the album’s rollout, the track sets the tone ahead of the full compilation release on Friday 8th.
Built around a warm, uplifting production, Serendipity blends both artists’ signature styles into a refined and emotive record. Written by LA-based songwriter Toby Gad and featuring vocals from Delilah Montagu, the track carries a strong emotional core, balancing intimacy with mainstage appeal while fitting seamlessly into both radio and dancefloor settings.
Dimitris Kechagias Review: [review top="1"] [item value="10"]Armin van Buuren & Andrew Bayer – Serendipity/Need You By My Side[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Armin van Buuren and Andrew Bayer’s dual release, “Serendipity” and “Need You By My Side,” showcases their mastery of contemporary trance while highlighting the unique strengths of each track. “Serendipity” is a festival-ready anthem that thrives on its 138 BPM drive, delivering a tight rhythmic foundation perfect for club and festival settings. Its propulsive groove and layered percussion create a forward momentum that DJs can easily work into live sets. The melodic architecture is built on lush harmonic layers and cinematic chord progressions, with soaring synth leads enhancing its immersive and uplifting atmosphere. Delilah Montagu’s ethereal vocals intertwine seamlessly with the instrumental layers, adding an emotional dimension that resonates with classic ASOT energy. The drops and transitions are executed with surgical precision, maximizing tension and release for euphoric peak moments. Sound design is impeccable, featuring three-dimensional spatial effects, carefully modulated reverb tails, and balanced dynamic range, making it as clear in headphones as it is powerful over festival speakers. “Need You By My Side” complements “Serendipity” with a more emotionally intimate yet equally energetic approach. Anchored by warm, rolling basslines and a consistent 138 BPM rhythm, it supports seamless mixing and looping for DJs. The track’s arrangement moves fluidly from delicate vocal passages to explosive instrumental sections, creating a narrative arc that balances introspection and exhilaration. Its melodic core leans into uplifting progressions and atmospheric swells that evoke a sense of catharsis and emotional release. Production quality shines with stereo imaging and subtle modulation effects, while the mix maintains clarity and loudness for large-scale playback. Both tracks offer measurable mood-elevating benefits. Studies suggest that high-tempo, major-key electronic music can boost dopamine release and reduce stress (Thoma et al., 2013; Salimpoor et al., 2011). “Serendipity” excels in inducing euphoria and uplifting energy, ideal for peak-time festival moments, while “Need You By My Side” provides a motivational backdrop for fitness and wellness activities, its consistent BPM supporting aerobic rhythm and endurance (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The atmospheric qualities of both tracks also lend themselves to mindfulness and flow states, promoting emotional release and stress relief. With their flawless structure, engaging vocal hooks, and crystal-clear production, both “Serendipity” and “Need You By My Side” stand as future classics in the trance canon, ready to dominate live sets and inspire listeners worldwide.#PureGold Loveit

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The two Anjunabeats beloved artists Andrew Bayer & Oliver Smith collaborate for Rude Boyz taken from their forthcoming EP. The track merges speed garage type of 90's basslines, pulsating kicks, punchy drums and cool vocal samples merged in perfection until we reach the ultra cool breakdown that builds the tension and anticipation in order to release it in its energetic full on euphoric h ands in the air climax. The track has great twists and turns and dares to be different without alienating too much the followers of both artists who have reputation as being very open minded and able to bring new ideas in their tracks and the crowds to appreciate it big time. #PureGold Love iT[/content]

GRAMMY-nominated producers Andrew Bayer and Gabriel & Dresden join forces with GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and vocalist Sub Teal on ‘Other Eye’, out now on Anjunabeats.
Andrew Bayer, Gabriel & Dresden & Sub Teal have been integral parts of the trance scene for over a decade. They make their collaborative debut on ‘Other Eye’, a track played extensively by Above & Beyond in recent performances at Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest and more.
Andrew Bayer has been responsible for the most experimental and ambitious artist albums on Anjunabeats. His 2011 debut ‘It’s Artificial’ merged glitch-hop, electronica and prog house, while on 2013’s ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’ he pushed the envelope further with a critically-acclaimed journey of electronica and sunny, instrumental hip-hop. 2018's ‘In My Last Life’ wove the emotive songwriting of Ane Brun and Alison May into a modern alt-pop masterpiece. His fourth studio album, ‘Duality’, is one of his most ambitious works to date; climbing to #1 on the US / Canada iTunes Dance chart and attracting support from Sirius XM's Diplo and Liquid Todd, BBC Radio 1's Annie Nightingale and KCRW's Jason Bentley.
This year, Andrew followed up the success of ‘Duality’ with a far-reaching North American tour and made an appearance at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender festivities at The Gorge. He also joined Seven Lions on his ‘Journey III’ tour with stops at The Greek Theatre, MGM Hall, Avant Gardner (Brooklyn Mirage), Downtown Las Vegas Event Center, Santa Barbara Bowl and beyond.
Josh Gabriel & Dave Dresden, aka Gabriel & Dresden, have built an enduring legacy across their 20+ year career. Known for their unique brand of ‘emotional dance music,’ the DJ and producer duo helped define the sound of modern trance music with hits like ‘As The Rush Comes’, ‘Beautiful Things’ and ’Tracking Treasure Down.’ The pair also created three essential mixes on BBC Radio 1, won Best American DJ, Best Producers and Best Remixers at the IDMA Awards, scored 21 #1’s on the Billboard Dance Chart, peaked at #20 on DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s poll and have performed in over 40 countries.
Gabriel & Dresden made their ‘The Only Road’ and ‘Remedy’ albums off the back of Kickstarter campaigns released on Anjunabeats in 2017 and 2020 respectively. Title track ‘Only Road’,’ co-written and performed by Sub Teal, went on to be remixed by Cosmic Gate and was subsequently nominated for a GRAMMY in 2018. They stayed active during the pandemic with their Club Quarantine lockdown Twitch streams, growing a community of over 50k, and followed it up in real life with their ‘Gabriel & Dresden + Friends’ tour. The pair return to Anjunabeats after their last single on the label, ‘Bias’, which earned support from Cosmic Gate, Darude, Genix, Farius and more.
Sub Teal has been a longtime collaborator with Gabriel & Dresden as a songwriter and vocalist on ‘The Only Road’ and ‘Remedy’ albums. As a DJ, she joined Gabriel & Dresden on all dates of the ‘Gabriel & Dresden + Friends’ tour, as well as performing weekly on the Club Quarantine live stream. ‘Other Eye’ marks the first of many upcoming collaborations for this gifted singer/songwriter.

Chunky grooves, electro tech kicks, thumping drums and driving basslines merged with fantastic organic elements like rock guitar riffs and the brilliant vocals with the very touching lyrics. The old school 90's trancy riffs and the big euphoric hook in the climax will work wonders during the big crowds mainstage sets. Anjunabeats is proud to present Andrew Bayer's ‘Duality’ (Remixed).
Enigma, polymath, visionary, DJ, producer, musician, artist: Andrew Bayer has been a cornerstone of Anjuna for over a decade.
He's been responsible for the most experimental and ambitious artist albums on Anjunabeats.
His fourth studio album ‘Duality’, is one of his most ambitious works to date. ‘Duality’ pt. 1, released on August 12, 2022, explored Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2, which followed on October 26, 2022, aimed firmly at the dancefloor, exploring Bayer’s forward-thinking trance and progressive sound.
Supported by Sirius XM's Diplo and Liquid Todd, BBC Radio 1's Annie Nightingale and KCRW's Jason Bentley, ‘Duality’ was met with acclaim from fans. Tracks from the album took centre stage on Andrew’s ‘Duality’ album tour; Group Therapy 500 in Los Angeles; Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge and Dockyards London; Anjunabeats Miami and Austin, and his recent support slots for Seven Lions on the ‘Journey III’ tour.
A key theme behind ‘Duality’ is collaboration. The album featured an eclectic cast of collaborators, friends old and new: Asbjørn, Alison May, Audrey Brazelle, Dave Thomas Junior, Kaleena Zanders and more. The ‘Duality’ (Remixed) package continues this motif, with Andrew collaborating with Farius, Alex Sonata & TheRio and Elevven on club mixes of ‘Under Pressure’, ‘Equal’ and ‘Matriarch’ respectively.
Anjunabeats Rising graduate and emerging star Laura van Dam contributes a progressive mix of ‘Chaos’, while label mainstay Genix adds a techno spin to album opener ‘No Silence’ - Genix and Bayer previously released ‘The Test’ in December 2020, and worked together on a club mix of ‘Hold On To You’ from Bayer’s ‘In My Last Life’ album. Matt Lange returns to the label after nearly four years to rework ‘I Would’, and album collaborator Kaleena Zanders’ ‘Broke It’ mix offers an electronica twist on uplifting Pride anthem ‘Break The Rules’. The remix package concludes with a stripped-down version of ‘Equal’, recorded at Above & Beyond’s Hello Studios in September 2022.
Andrew Bayer ‘Duality’ (Remixed) is out now. Limited edition triple-LP ‘Duality’ vinyl is shipping now from the Anjuna Music Store.
Andrew joins Above & Beyond once again at The Gorge Amphitheatre for this year’s Group Therapy Weekender, playing b2b with fellow label legend Mat Zo. He also joins us for all three Anjunabeats Outdoors shows in New York City, Denver and Montréal this summer, tickets on sale now (https://anjunabeats.com/events).
For the past decade, Andrew Bayer has been a pivotal artist on Anjunabeats, influencing the trance genre and shaping the label's direction.
In 2010, while studying at Berklee College of Music, Andrew joined Above & Beyond in London, collaborating closely with them. He spent 7 transformative years in the city, building his solo career and dealing with personal challenges, including his brother's illness and coming out to his family. Stranded in London due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland, Andrew experienced isolation and grief, but eventually found love and support when he came out to his family and met his now husband, Allan.
This newfound love and acceptance profoundly impacted Andrew's music, transitioning from negative emotions to celebrating love and joy. Andrew's own album "In My Last Life" became a testament to collaboration and self-expression, celebrating friendships, the queer community, and the love he had found.
With his latest double album "Duality," Andrew aimed to present his authentic self, merging alternative, pop, and club dance music while amplifying LGBTQ voices. The songwriting collaborations, like the one with Alison May and Asbjorn, created an intimate and trusting process, allowing Andrew to embrace himself and shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of dance music—the songwriters.
Andrew Bayer remains committed to authenticity, love, and openness in his life, continuing to collaborate with like-minded artists.
Out now on Anjunabeats: Andrew Bayer & OLAN ‘Under Pressure’ (Andrew Bayer & Farius Remix)
Andrew Bayer and Farius team up on the latest remix to be revealed from Andrew’s fourth studio album 'Duality'. Met with acclaim from fans and supported by Sirius XM's Diplo and Liquid Todd, BBC Radio 1's Annie Nightingale and KCRW's Jason Bentley, the two-part album project was released via Anjunabeats in August and October 2022.
Farius is a leading figure in the progressive and trance sphere. He arrived on Anjunabeats in 2018 with a remix of Gabriel & Dresden feat. Sub Teal’s ‘I'm Not Like Everybody Else’, contributed two mixes to the Anjunabeats Worldwide radio show, and recently dropped ‘Extensia’ with Ben Malone. He’s amassed over ten million Spotify streams across his catalogue, and also hosts Enhanced Sessions, a weekly radio show with over 550,000 global listeners.
The closing track to her set at Above & Beyond’s sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations in Los Angeles last October, ‘Under Pressure’ sees Andrew collaborate with DJ, producer and singer-songwriter OLAN, who features prominently across multiple tracks on ‘Duality’.
Farius and Andrew’s club-ready rework of the track has featured in both producers’ sets of late, including Andrew’s performances alongside Seven Lions as part of his Journey III tour, and Farius’ recent appearance at A State of Trance in the Netherlands.

Anjunabeats is proud to present ‘Duality’, the stunning new double album from Andrew Bayer.
Enigma, polymath, visionary, DJ, producer, musician, artist: Andrew Bayer has been a cornerstone of Anjuna for over a decade. He's been responsible for the most experimental and ambitious artist albums on Anjunabeats.
A two-part album project, ‘Duality pt. 1' explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2 takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sound. ‘Duality pt. 1' was released on August 12 via Anjunabeats. Met with acclaim from fans and supported by Sirius XM's Diplo and Liquid Todd, BBC Radio 1's Annie Nightingale and KCRW's Jason Bentley, it featured collaborations with OLAN, Run Rivers, Asbjørn, MOR, Dave Thomas Junior and more.
“Since day one, I have always struggled with how to present myself. I love making these experimental home listening albums of electronica and indie sounds, but I also love DJing and making trance bangers. On 'In My Last Life', I had to remix the album in full after it was released to make the worlds fit. This time around I wanted to capture all the breadth, depth and tension within that duality under one single project” - Andrew Bayer
On ‘Duality pt. 2’, Andrew takes the energy and BPM up a gear with ten tracks of cutting-edge club sounds - avant-garde sensibilities, aimed straight at the dancefloor. Over the past few months, Andrew has taken 'Duality pt. 2' around the world, performing at Anjunabeats star-studded takeover of New York City's Brooklyn Mirage; Above & Beyond's Group Therapy Weekender festivals at The Gorge and Dockyards London; and most recently, Group Therapy 500 at Banc of California Stadium, Los Angeles.
'Duality pt. 2' kicks off with 'Midnight', featuring vocals from long-term friend and collaborator Alison May and a go-to club smash in Above & Beyond's recent DJ sets. Red Dragons add their heavenly tones on the hypnotic ‘DNA’, before Bayer’s take on bass-lead electro with ‘Greater Chances’ (featuring OLAN).
A favourite from recent DJ sets and included on Anjunabeats Volume 16, ‘On Tape’ takes things into epic peak-time progressive trance territory. ‘I Would’ (with Alison May and Grandfather Machine) offers a beautiful downtempo moment, before ‘Break The Rules’ (with Kaleena Zanders) offers an uplifting take on self-love, personal truth and the isolation of queer identity.
Other highlights include ‘What Is Real’ (with Vök), the stunning instrumental synth crescendos of ‘If You Loop It, They Will Come’, and closing track ‘Pulse’ (with OLAN).
"With ‘Duality pt. 2’, I intended to make a dance album that feels timeless, forward-thinking, and personal. So many dance records have lost a sense of dynamics both in their mixes and arrangements. Every track is littered with classic synths, and experimental sound design" - Andrew Bayer
Andrew Bayer 'Duality' is out now on Anjunabeats, and is available to pre-order on triple gatefold vinyl via the Anjuna Music Store.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Andrew Bayer latest album comes in two parts. The first part was more electronic leftfield but still very powerful and now the second part of Duality reveals the club numbers. Tracks that will be played in big mainstages but definitely doesn't conform on what the usual club record should be as Andrew loves to experiment and push forward his sounds in order to create the type of tracks that whenever you listen to them you discover new sounds and new audio pleasures and gratifications. The vocals and lyrics with meaningful autobiographical touch with singers that stand out because of their integrity and honesty in their performance as their voices become instruments that merge and blend perfectly with his big electro touched big basslines and highly euphoric fluorescent feel good synths to remind us that at the end of any bad day or experience there is always light, release and the hand of your guardian angel to guide you home. Duality part 2 contains many cases of songs that you will get addicted and play them on repeat for the next year until new remixes or versions surface to make us happy again. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

"With ‘Duality pt. 2’, I intended to make a dance album that feels timeless, forward-thinking, and personal. So many dance records have lost a sense of dynamics both in their mixes and arrangements. Every track is littered with classic synths, and experimental sound design" - Andrew Bayer
Road tested on the 'Duality' tour and Andrew's performances at The Gorge and Brooklyn Mirage, 'What Is Real (with Vök) / If You Loop It, They Will Come' offer a tantalising preview of what's to come from 'Duality pt. 2’, out October 28.
"'What Is Real' and 'If You Loop It, They Will Come' highlight an important pairing of my club sound. 'What Is Real' tells the story of struggling with treating depression, and the side effects it brings. 'If You Loop It, They Will Come' is the response to being stuck in the eternal loop of knowing what is real and what isn’t. It snaps us back into a focused reality with a chorus of analog synths from the 70’s and 80’s, with a faint vocal sample repeating “it’s gonna be the same”. Accepting the fact that I always have and always will struggle with mental health issues was a big part of the acceptance I had to face while working on 'Duality'. It is part of my story, and part of many stories shared in our community." - Andrew Bayer
Andrew Bayer’s ‘Duality’ is available to pre-order on triple gatefold vinyl via the Anjuna Music Store. Alongside a long-awaited UK appearance at Group Therapy Weekender London, Andrew once again joins Above & Beyond at their Group Therapy milestone celebrations, as they mark 500 episodes of their long-running radio show in Los Angeles in October.
As part of the festivities, Andrew also hosts a special ‘Duality’ pre-party at Academy, Los Angeles on October 14, with special guests Naz, OLAN and Fatum - for more info, visit ABGT500.live

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] One of those artists that will receive a GRAMMY award in the near future is the beloved Andrew Bayer. His Duality pt 1 was simply mindblowing and now we get a taste of what it comes on the 2nd part which will be directed to the clubs and festivals. First is the brilliant What Is Real. Fantastic vocals and lyrics co-exist with his signature sound of thumping grooves, punchy booming basslines, fat kicks and electric drive that simply knock you out straight away. The big synthy hook employed has the raising roof effect written all over it so you can expect those mad reactions by the fellow clubbers. 8 plus minutes of pure audio satisfaction. If You Loop It, They Will Come is the more instrumental tune with bouncy clubby kicks and drums, spanking bassline and most importantly ultra large synthy riff that will crawl under your skin and give you the electro shock you are sensing that is coming but you could not realize how much will uplift you. Fat and furious indeed. Also included the bass/breakbeat/new electro American boy with beautiful vocals and edgy lyrics. Chaos is a breaks travelling along track with lyrics and cinematic atmosphere to close your eyes and let its electrical energy surround you. Midnight is powerful driving epic club track with top vocals that scream for clubs and festivals abuse. Equal is the melodic chillin dubstep inspired track to close your DJ set with a message and pop sensibilities! #PureGold Love IT [/content]
Anjunabeats is proud to present part one of ‘Duality’, the stunning new double album from Andrew Bayer. ‘Duality pt. 1’ is out now, with pt. 2 following on October 28.
Enigma, polymath, visionary, DJ, producer, musician, artist: Andrew Bayer has been a cornerstone of Anjuna for over a decade. He's been responsible for the most experimental and ambitious artist albums on Anjunabeats.
In amongst this, Andrew has knocked out countless cutting-edge trance bangers to power his famed DJ sets – 'Super Human' (with Asbjørn), 'Magitek', 'Once Lydian', 'The District'... the list goes on. Respected as a true visionary and a headline talent within the trance world, as well as one of its only openly proud and vocal LGBTQ+ acts, his DJ sound has energised Ultra Music Festival, Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy (including a Madison Square Garden show), ASOT, Creamfields and clubs across the world.
Duality part 1
A two-part album project, ‘Duality’ combines these two separate musical threads for the first time. ‘Duality’ pt. 1 explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2 takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sound.
Crafted over three years, Bayer is joined by an eclectic cast of collaborators old and new. Drawing on electronic pop, indie songwriting and modern classical, ‘Duality pt. 1’ opens with ‘No Silence’ featuring songwriting from cult Icelandic band Vök.
One of many LGBTQ+ collaborators across the project, Danish singer-songwriter Asbjørn brings his technicolour style to two twisted pop masterpieces in the brilliant ‘American Boy’ and the dramatic, string-laded epic ‘Equal’ - which closes 'Duality pt. 1’.
Leading up to it is ‘Under Pressure’ with Anjunadeep’s rising star OLAN and ‘Matriarch’ with new talents Red Dragons, while ‘4/15/10 11:15AM - Volcano’ and ‘Thank You For Being With Us’ provide moments of instrumental reflection, reminiscent of Andrew’s breakthrough 2013 LP ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’.
“‘Duality (Part 1)’ explores the “home listening” electronic music that I have always focused on for my previous albums, but with a twist. I wanted to merge classic trance sounds with indie pop, which really linked both parts of ‘Duality’”. - Andrew Bayer

After touring his critically-acclaimed 2018 album ‘In My Last Life’ to sold out crowds across North America, Andrew Bayer unveils ‘In My Next Life’: a complete album of club-ready reinterpretations aimed squarely at the dance floor.
“Even though “In My Last Life” is experimental and does range through different tempos & styles, I did have the intention of doing club mixes” explains Andrew, backstage at his sold-out Exchange LA stop.
Fans have enjoyed a steady stream of ‘In My Last Life’ single releases since August 2018 with several unveiled during Andrew Bayer’s performance at Above & Beyond’s landmark Group Therapy 300 celebrations in Hong Kong including ‘Open End Resource’, ‘Your Eyes’ and the only collaboration on the record, ‘Love You More’ with fellow Anjunabeats label-mate Genix.
Retaining the heavy vocal presence of Ane Brun & Alison May in each remix, Andrew has transformed one of his admittedly most challenging undertakings yet in ‘In My Last Life’ into an confident and accomplished club record.
Says Andrew, “I have this masochistic backbone in me that I have to challenge myself at every turn, and that was the way to challenge myself with ‘In My Next Life’“.
Taking his ‘In My Next Life’ remixes and a host of new productions on the road this year, Andrew joins the Anjunabeats North American tour in Austin, Washington DC, Denver, Vancouver, LA (5/4) & San Francisco (5/10). Tickets available https://anjunabeats.com/tour.

Exploring love throughout your lifespan, Andrew Bayer’s third artist album ‘In My Last Life’ has resonated with many. Described by Kaltblut as “a truly personal masterpiece”.
Joining the dots between his album writing and DJ performances, Andrew’s In My Next Life mixes bring the tracks back to the dance floor. Debuted at this year's Tomorrowland festival, and then test driven by Above & Beyond during their mainstage closing set, the ‘Immortal Lover’ club mix is a nod to the nostalgic trance sound; a sweeping epic of longing played out through Alison May’s haunting vocal.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Andrew Bayer feat. Alison May anthem Immortal Lover receives the much wanted and eagerly anticipated club version named In My Next Life Mix. The new version adds electro twisted basslines with thumping drums, heavy powerful stomping groove ready made for big sound systems and superb breakdown that allows the emotional aspect of the original track to come at the surface. The climax is full on trance euphoria with big synthy riff to raise the hair from your back and make you feel like flying in the skies. The piano chords, orchestral strings and violin touches turn this remix very touching and perfect to dance to and get amazed on the floor. As the album tracks are really good deserve to reach the dancefloor with remixes for sure. #PureGold Love IT[/content]
Andrew Bayer feat. Alison May ‘Immortal Lover’ is the first single from the hotly anticipated ‘In My Last Life’ LP - the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed electronica LP ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’.
With shuffling rhythms that owe more to hip hop producer Timbaland than Tiesto, ‘Immortal Lover’ whispers of stalking ex-lovers from the beyond the grave through Alison May’s haunting vocals. A beautiful but twisted indie-electronica epic with a dash of trip hop darkness.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]To say that I'm totally in love with Andrew Bayer sound it will be understatement cause simply this artist deserves more than the praise he currently gets. His music and DJ sets are memorable experiences that put a stamp in your heart and become part of your music DNA instantly. Immortal Lover is not a club track bur rather instead is a beautiful chilling track perfect for those Ibiza sunsets or even as final track when the sun rises in your favourite club in Mediterranean. Superb lyrics and vocal delivery by Alison May upon the electronic beats, warm melodies, luscious atmosphere and ambient cinematic atmospheres. Classy as hell this is not to be missed and hopefully club mixes will make it even stronger and we hope to come out soon. For now lets play on repeat mode the brilliant video. #PureGold Love IT[/content]
Following his experimental five-track Do Androids Dream EP earlier in the year, Anjunabeats innovator Andrew Bayer returns with another bold, artistic concept in his ‘Anamnesis Trilogy’.
Releasing a track every month from October through to the end of the year, Andrew Bayer’s ‘Anamnesis Trilogy’ is a return to the classics… reimagining past inspirations from trance and progressive’s golden eras and bringing them up to date with a 2015 twist in Bayer’s unique, inimitable style. Far from simple pastiches, though, they blend a timeless, lost sensibility with typically forward-thinking production and curveball twists.
A spine-tingling piano led production, ‘Celestial’ sees Andrew return to his melodic roots; an emotive composition that explores his love for slow burning progressive records.
"The Anamnesis Trilogy is all about reviving, reinterpreting and reimagining what I feel are classic - and lost - messages and motifs in trance and progressive. In this EDM-era, big room music has become obsessed with high impact, instant gratification and, to be honest, absolutely uninspiring and boring arrangements. I was listening back over my favourite trance and progressive records, and remembering when dance music was about a sense of journey and progression. Records where there was more than just a breakdown and Bro-DM drops... records where you sometimes moved across what felt like three different - and equally mind-expanding - records just to get the REAL moment in the track. The three records in the Anamnesis Trilogy are all inspired by this sensibility and era, but 2015 Bayer style." ~Andrew Bayer
