Scandi duo anamē round of 2025 with their 'Hopes & Fears (Companion EP)'.

After starting off the year with their sophomore album 'Hopes & Fears', anamē continued their forward momentum with an accompanying tour across multiple continents and festivals. With singles from the album seeing support across their home Nordic territories, including Norway, Sweden and Denmark, and an appearance on Go' Morgen Danmark in early 2025 with longtime collaborator Lydmor, the band's album made waves both home and abroad.

Their sophomore album, ‘Hopes & Fears’ is an honest reflection of how Marcus and Thomas feel about the world around them and the connections they have made worldwide. An emotive, highly charged, statement driven record, that ultimately leans to the lighter side of life.
"For us, Hopes and Fears builds on the journey we started with our first album, which was about finding beauty in the world around us. Back then, the way we experienced the world felt far less bleak than the stories we were being force-fed. This new album is about holding onto hope when the times feel increasingly uncertain—a search for light in the dark and the belief that even in the shadows, there’s always a glimmer of light worth fighting for” - anamē
Last week, anamē released 'Malibu', the lead single from their forthcoming Companion EP to ‘Hopes & Fears' which blends their floaty and melodic house tracks with a mix of darker and brooding melodic techno. Now, the duo release the full Companion EP, debuting ‘I’m Coming Home’ with long-term collaborator, Lydmor, as well as a fresh silkhaus Mix of ‘Break The Silence’, an Alternative Version of ‘Electric Lights’ and a Club Mix of 'It Can Be Better Now'.

The limited coloured 2xLP 'Hopes & Fears' vinyl, featuring both the full album and the Companion EP, is available to pre-order now.

[item value="10"]anamē - Hopes & Fears (Companion EP)[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] The Companion EP to anamē’s acclaimed Hopes & Fears showcases the duo’s mastery of melodic storytelling and technical precision across four distinct tracks, each crafted with a balance of emotional resonance and rhythmic drive. This collection not only complements the original album but also expands upon its universe, offering music that enhances mental wellness, improves focus during fitness or wellness sessions, and uplifts human mood, as supported by contemporary music neuroscience studies (Thoma et al., 2013; Chanda & Levitin, 2013). 1. I’m Coming Home (feat. Lydmor) : This opening track is a 118 BPM melodic house journey that fuses airy synth pads, soft percussive layers, and a deep rhythmic undercurrent. Lydmor’s ethereal vocals sit atop a lush harmonic foundation, processed with subtle reverb and delay for a dreamy spatial effect. The production employs multiband compression to maintain clarity, while sidechain ducking against the kick drum enhances the track’s hypnotic pulse. Studies have shown that music with moderate tempos and smooth harmonic content can reduce stress and improve relaxation (Koelsch, 2010), making this track ideal for meditation or cooldown segments in wellness classes. 2. Break The Silence (Deep Silkhaus Mix): At 120 BPM, this version transforms the original into a warm and fluid journey. Pulsating sub-bass frequencies are paired with crisp shaker grooves, and the warm piano chords are enhanced by mid-side EQ processing to create a wide, immersive stereo field. Vocals are gently modulated to float around the mix, providing both rhythmic drive and emotional lift. From a fitness perspective, steady 120 BPM music has been linked with a beneficial impact on exercise endurance and psychological motivation (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). 3. Electric Lights (Alternative Version) : The Alternative Version slows down into a chillout ambient lounge direction, focusing on sustained pads, reversed effects, and soft rhythmic textures. Temporal effects such as long-tail reverbs and granular delays create a floating sense of time, which is known to contribute to mental relaxation and mindfulness (Grocke & Wigram, 2007). This track’s reflective nature makes it suitable for yoga or meditation classes, providing an auditory space that encourages introspection. 4. It Can Be Better Now (Afrohouse Club Mix) : With its 123 BPM tribal pulse, this mix embraces the current afrohouse wave with layered percussion, organic shakers, and syncopated toms. The track leverages dynamic automation to gradually build intensity, while the use of stereo panning in percussion elements adds movement and spatial excitement. Research in music psychology indicates that such rhythmically engaging music can enhance group exercise energy and promote positive emotional states through entrainment (Janata et al., 2012). Overall Production and Impact: Across the EP, anamē demonstrate exceptional sound design and production quality. Their use of dynamic range, harmonic layering, and spatial processing ensures each track maintains clarity and emotional depth even in club environments. The careful BPM selection across tracks allows seamless integration for DJ sets while also catering to wellness and fitness applications, aligning with studies on tempo’s influence on physiological responses (Edworthy & Waring, 2006). #PureGold Love iT[/content]

Scandi duo anamē release sophomore studio album ‘Hopes & Fears’ on Anjunabeats

‘Things just feel more personal - we’re on the same rollercoaster of happiness and trepidation as everyone we speak to.’

Responsible for instantly recognisable records, including ‘The Best Part’ (with Bien), ‘Anywhere’ and ‘Gratitude’ (with label head honchos Above & Beyond), Marcus Schossow and Thomas Sagstad, a.k.a anamē, embark on a new chapter with ‘Hopes & Fears’, that is out now on Anjunabeats.

Adding a Scandi flair to the melodic house world in the last four years, the pair have celebrated storytelling and songwriting at the heart of everything they do; be it their debut ‘Beautiful World’ album or multi-million streaming remixes for Armin Van Buuren or Franky Wah.

‘When we announced Beautiful World over a year ago, we wanted to bring our audience along with the journey of writing the album’, says Thomas. ‘Anjuna trusted us to pull back the magicians curtain on the A&R, art, and marketing process of the album and we’ve met people around the world that want to talk as much about the process as the music that came out of it. Those meet ups, dinners, and drinks kept us sane on the road while away from our families and were equally inspiring and encouraging for what we’re doing’.

‘Hopes & Fears’ is an honest reflection of how Marcus and Thomas feel about the world around them and the connections they’ve made worldwide. An emotive, highly charged, statement driven record, that ultimately leans to the lighter side of life.

With their second studio album, the duo continues their history of bringing in incredibly talented collaborators. Jenny Rossander, better known as Lydmor, is an incredible Danish pop artist, one of the biggest in that territory, whose cultural heritage includes five albums, sold out headline shows across Scandinavia, co-produced albums with Who Made Who’s Thomas Holding, and author of a best selling book, charting her journey through the electric arts world over the last 10 years.

‘A live wire - show stealer - natural performer, Jenny’s at the heart of our writing process. The ambiguity and poetry of everything she does ultimately leads to songs people want to scream at the top of their lungs. She’s also always at the end of the phone - the songs on this album are born out of being together, investing in each other's emotional state, and letting it play out in the music we’re writing’ Thomas says. The focus track of the album showcases that sentiment with ‘Hopeful’, as well as ‘Hero’, a poignant Lydmor tale of one-sided love.
The duo has made a point with this album to focus more on their home Nordic territories this time around, growing from their upbringings in Sweden and Norway. In keeping with the theme of home, their collaborators mostly fit the bill. Lydmor’s voice is front and center on four different tracks and continues to attract her Danish fan base to anamē’s music. Norwegian pop singer-songwriter Moyka makes an appearance on the album with anamē reworking her 2019 hit ‘Colder’.

The album also sees anamē working with Swedish singer-songwriter Welt on ‘It Can Be Better Now’. Released in November 2024 as a double-a side, with Lydmor’s ‘Hero’, ‘It Can Be Better Now’ quickly gained traction in the United States, working its way to the #1 record on SiriusXM Chill. It is an emotional, slow-burning, deeply-yearning tale that kicked off anamē’s 2024 set in Mexico City during the Above & Beyond Group Therapy 600 show - online now. The Swedish artist writes lyrics based on her own experiences and feelings, which the listener can hear in her heartfelt vocal delivery.

Longtime anamē fans will also be excited to see Bien return on their third collaboration with the track ‘Happy To Be Alive’. The US-based trio struck gold with anamē in 2021 when their hit track ‘The Best Part’ went viral on social media, and recently passed over 100M total streams. ‘Happy To Be Alive’ continues the familiar happy, summery and melodic house vibe that has been so well received on their previous works with anamē.

With eleven out of the twelve songs on the album featuring a vocalist, anamē’s latest body of work is truly a lesson in teamwork and collaboration with their fellow creatives. Also appearing on the album are Biishop, Bri Zoli, and PEARL, all lending their unique voices and incredible songwriting to the project.
"For us, Hopes and Fears builds on the journey we started with our first album, which was about finding beauty in the world around us. Back then, the way we experienced the world felt far less bleak than the stories we were being force-fed. This new album is about holding onto hope when the times feel increasingly uncertain—a search for light in the dark and the belief that even in the shadows, there’s always a glimmer of light worth fighting for” - anamē

anamē’s ‘Hopes & Fears’ album is out now on Anjunabeats, followed by a North American DJ tour to follow in Spring.

Scandinavian production duo aname follow up the release of their debut album, 'Beautiful World’, with ‘Hurt You (Original & AN21 Mixes)’, a collaboration with AN21 and Lya Adams.

The collaborative work of Marcus Schössow and Thomas Sagstad reaches its latest apex with ‘Beautiful World’, an album that the pair have envisioned since first meeting over two decades ago. Following on from solo work with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Axwell /\ Ingrosso and Kaskade over the last ten years, the duo’s debut album is the latest milestone in their expansive discographies.

Like their careers, their album is not without its share of great collaborators.

Originally released as part of ‘Beautiful World’, ‘Hurt You’ is a track that dates back several years and sees aname join forces with fellow Swedish vocalist Lya Adams, as well as AN21, a stalwart of SIZE records and brother to Steve Angello.
“It started while I was in Stockholm with Antoine and Philip (AN21),” Schössow explains. “I heard a song and said ‘that’s a cool idea’, and Antoine said ‘that’s a demo that Steve and I worked on’... a couple years later I found it again and thought, ‘man, this is a nice record’, but I wanted to take it into a different atmosphere.” Now, AN21 brings fans his own spellbinding rework of the track.
AN21, aka Antoine Joseffson, is a frequent feature in DJ Mag’s coveted Top 100 DJs list, and has remixed tracks by Gorillaz, Ellie Goulding and Pendulum to name just a few. He recently finished a run of shows on his Asia tour, and dropped three singles on SIZE records, earning support from Yotto, Adam Beyer, Adriatique, Agents of Time, Kevin De Vries, Joris Voorn and more on his latest single ‘Liquid Gold’.

After recent performances at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge as well as Tomorrowland Brasil and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, aname continue their tour with stops at The Steel Yard in London and Royale in Boston. Tickets on sale now (www.anamemusic.com/tour).

aname, AN21 & Lya Adams ‘Hurt You (Original & AN21 Mixes)' is out now on Anjunabeats.

Scandinavian production duo aname release their debut album 'Beautiful World', out now on Anjunabeats.

The collaborative work of Marcus Schössow and Thomas Sagstad reaches its latest apex with ‘Beautiful World’, an album that the pair have envisioned since first meeting at a house party in Helsingborg, Sweden, over two decades ago. Following on from solo work with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Axwell /\ Ingrosso and Kaskade over the last ten years, the duo’s debut album is the latest milestone in their expansive discographies.
Like their careers, their album is not without its share of great collaborators. Title track ‘Beautiful World’ features the voice of Steve Smith, widely known as a member of the GRAMMY-winning act Dirty Vegas. “I love Steve,” Sagstad says. “I worked with him four years ago on a record with Sultan + Shepard and that was like a dream come true for me. It’s called Beautiful World, it’s the title record, and I think he encapsulates all of it.”

Another addition to the album is ‘Hurt You’, a track that dates back several years and features the vocals of fellow Swede, Lya Adams, and is a collaboration with AN21, a stalwart of SIZE records and brother to Steve Angello. ‘Closer’ sees the duo collaborate with Dutch indie band Vaarwell, a longtime favourite of Sagstad, under their new moniker Shobi.
Lyrics are of central importance across the record. “What is important for all the vocal songs we do is that the lyrics actually mean something to us,” Schössow says. “We've had plenty of really, really great demos from other writers but the lyrics didn’t really touch us."
This approach can be heard on ‘Gravity’ which, for Sagstad, is a cornerstone of the album. “I love the lyrics of the hook. It goes into gravity and the meaning behind that, keeping ourselves grounded and focusing on the right thing… For us, that's the most important thing. We don't try to find the most poppy vocal. We try to find the vocals that feel like something we can stand behind every day.”
Schössow and Sagstad have poured their ambition, heart and sense of adventure into the DNA of ‘Beautiful World’. Over its thirteen tracks, aname present, literally and figuratively, their worldview.

Singles from the album have racked up over two million combined streams and over twenty-seven thousand Shazams to date, as well receiving support from the likes of Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Don Diablo, Oliver Heldens, Cosmic Gate, Korolova, Mees Salomé and more. Their lead single ‘Anywhere (Road Trippin’)’ has been in the top 10 most played songs on Sirius XM BPM since June and so far their album singles have also seen extensive support across the major DSPs already landing over thirty editorial playlists.

Following on from recent performances at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge as well as at Anjunabeats Outdoors shows in New York City, Denver, Montréal and beyond, aname continue their tour with upcoming stops at London, Houston and Toronto. Tickets on sale now (www.anamemusic.com/tour).

[item value="10"]aname - Beautiful World[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The electronic music world was eagerly waiting the release of aname debut album Beautiful World. They deliver the goods and they manage to satisfy our expectations from them in the highest order. Each and every single track will definitely crawl under your skin and touch you deep in heart and soul. The fantastic combination of melodic breaks, deep melodic house and techno with strong trance infusions turn this album into a sonic experience that can be enjoyed in the intimate surroundings of our home or car but most importantly are dynamic and ready for clubs and mainstage performances. All the tracks are accomplished short mind trips with groovy basslines, dark thumping kicks and deep haunting drum programming along with cinematic ambient soundscapes and great vocals with singers that have something unique and exciting in their voice and performance with attitude and strong belief in the final result that is infectious, irresistible and one that you will enjoy again and again as you can not get enough of it in the years to come and will be regarded as classic that will influence and inspire the future generations without doubts. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

Scandinavian production duo anamē join forces with Lydmor on ‘Someone We Used To Love’, the second single from their upcoming debut album on Anjunabeats.

Marcus Schössow and Thomas Sagstad have been planning, plotting and dreaming anamē for two decades. First coming together at a house party in Helsingborg, Sweden, Marcus and Thomas bonded over a love of artists (Sasha or early Tiesto), labels (Strictly Rhythm, Defected), ethics (“We both wanted to work hard for our dreams”) and ideas.

'Someone We Used To Love' sees anamē collaborate with Danish singer-songwriter Lydmor. A celebrated artist, Lydmor dropped her critically acclaimed album 'CAPACITY' in 2021, and won a ROBERT (Danish Grammy) for best song with her work on the film score for Venus Effekten in 2022. The esteemed musician has played on the stages of Roskilde Festival, Tinderbox, Northside Festival, Indie Music Week in New York and beyond.

Previously released as part of her album ‘CAPACITY’, Schössow first heard 'Someone We Used To Love' after his cousin sent him a Facebook video of Lydmor singing the original song.

“There was something so special about it,” Marcus says of the vocal and feel of the track.“The way she sings it, it's like you're in the story and we can feel her pain. It's one of those records that we've had on the hard drive for almost two years, and we keep coming back to it and saying: that is a good one.”
“And it has a little bit of a controversial bite to it,” continues Sagstad. “It's very edgy, rough around the edges. We just knew we had to do more with her. She's just one of those forces of nature that we knew worked with our sound.”
anamē got their new album campaign off to a blistering start last month with the release of 'Anywhere (Road Trippin')', recently added to Sirius XM BPM. Over the coming weeks and months, the band will be pulling back the curtain on how an album comes together, through their social media channels and on their ‘It’s a Beautiful World’ podcast series.

anamē & Lydmor ‘Someone We Used To Love’ is out now on Anjunabeats. The duo join Above & Beyond at their Group Therapy Weekender festivities at The Gorge on July 21-23 and will feature at all three Anjunabeats Outdoors shows in New York City, Denver and Montréal this August, as well as our Anjunabeats London and Amsterdam shows later this year. [content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]anamē continues to make waves in the global dance scene and the release of singles from their forthcoming album on Anjunabeats build great excitement as the tracks so far are brilliant. For their latest track co-operate with Lydmor for the melancholic dark melodic techno beauty Someone We Used To Love. The deep haunting basslines, thumping kicks, techy percussion and the dark moody synthy stabs on top along with the rolling synthy melodies and cinematic strings support perfectly the vocals that are out of this world. Her performance is full of pain and personality and it seems that work perfectly within the sonic soundscapes that travel mind, body and soul to places and spaces and highlight her emotional turbulence that she attempts to heal and overcome through this song. Exceptional electronic music that will stand the test of time. #PureGold Love iT [/content]

Scandivinavian production duo aname present ‘Anywhere (Road Trippin’)’, the first single from their upcoming debut album on Anjunabeats.

Marcus Schössow and Thomas Sagstad have been planning, plotting and dreaming aname for two decades. First coming together at a house party in Helsingborg, Sweden, the Swede and the Norwegian bonded over a love of artists (Sasha or early Tiesto), labels (Strictly Rhythm, Defected), ethics (“We both wanted to work hard for our dreams”) and ideas.

Described by the band as their take on ‘the electronic love song of the summer’, ‘Anywhere’ (Road Trippin’)' begins the journey towards their yet-to-be-named debut album, announced in a skit filmed in Anjuna HQ. Over the coming weeks and months, the band will be pulling back the curtain on how an album comes together, through their social media channels and on their ‘It’s a Beautiful World’ podcast series.

The track that closed out both of their sets supporting Above & Beyond at Printworks London in April, ‘Anywhere (Road Trippin’)’ drills into the importance of true, bone-deep connectivity: “You can take me anywhere, just as long as you’re with me.”
“This record glues together what we are about. The first time Thomas sent me the ‘Anywhere’ vocal, I was like, wow. It just hits in the heart. And it very heavily emphasises songwriting, which is key to us. We don't just want to make club records. We want to make music that tells a story.” - Marcus Schössow

P.O.S joins forces with aname to rework Kyan’s ‘Lonely River’, out now on Anjunabeats.

Putting his faith in the natural world around him, 'Deeper Tales' sees Above & Beyond’s Paavo Siljamäki reconnect with the dance floor, and himself, for his debut solo album under his P.O.S alias.

A songwriter, producer and DJ, Paavo is one-third of the ground-breaking, record-breaking British dance institution Above & Beyond, founders of London-based label Anjunabeats. Double GRAMMY-nominated, RIAA Gold Certified artists, the band has rocked festival stages and iconic live institutions alike, from Glastonbury, EDC, and Creamfields, to the Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden.

However, the last five years have seen Paavo face a succession of personal and health-related challenges, including several battles with Covid.
“I had a burnout, basically. I just couldn’t see what I wanted to do. And after my burnout, I was like: what is dance music to me? I don’t really know even if I like it. I’ve heard – I’ve written – too many build-ups! So I thought: that’s me done,” Paavo says.
Finding solace in nature, inspiration rekindled; first with Above & Beyond’s ambient album ‘Flow State’, and then a return to dance floor-orientated sounds. “There’s no feeling of freedom like being at sea,” he adds. “When I’m sailing, I synchronize with the sunrise and sunset – we almost always get up at sunrise. So this is like being really aligned with nature. I found that, after my burnout, and Covid, I really found myself in nature. There’s something about being closer with nature that is really healing – and very inspiring.”
Now living on board the Swedish boat he now calls home, Paavo re-immersed himself into the club culture that had first caught his imagination as a 15-year-old rave kid, from the dance floors of Ibiza to the desert raves of Burning Man. His 'Deeper Tales' album reflects his experiences of late; soulful, heart-on-sleeve club records with many debuted during Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 500 and Anjunadeep Open Air L.A. celebrations last autumn.
The lead single from 'Deeper Tales’ pairs P.O.S with aname for an adaptation of ‘Lonely River’ by Kyan. “I discovered Kyan originally because we were looking for a singer for the Above & Beyond acoustic tour. He’s an incredible pianist, and an incredible singer and songwriter. It didn’t work out for him to be the singer on the acoustic tour, but ever since, I was like: this guy, I really, really want to do something with him.”
UK-based Kyan Kuatois’s chart-topping discography includes collaborations with Duke Dumont on ‘Need You (100%)’ and Madeon on his 2015 hit track ‘You’re On’, which has since racked up over 72m streams on Spotify.

aname is the new project from Marcus Schössow (previously one-half of gardenstate) and Thomas Sagstad. The pair burst onto the scene in 2022 with an emotive collaboration with Above & Beyond and Marty Longstaff on ‘Gratitude’, club anthem ‘Influencer’ with BLR and Robbie Rise, plus reworks of classic ‘Burma’ by Lostep, and Conjure One and Sinéad O’Connor’s ‘Tears From The Moon’.

'Deeper Tales' arrives this Spring, with P.O.S and aname’s rework of Kyan's ‘Lonely River’ out now on Anjunabeats. Phase 1 of the P.O.S. Deeper Tales tour is on sale Friday, January 27th, with dates across North America this March including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami. [content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Above & Beyond’s Paavo Siljamäki brings back his P.O.S alias for a full album and tour in the world as well. The first release in 2023 along with aname is their rework of the stunning track Lonely River by Kyan. The vocal is incredible with certain USA country touch to it with stunning meaningful lyrics that easily stays in your head and haunt you for the coming days and nights. Deep bubbly driving basslines, dark melancholic synths and cinematic moody strings translates the exceptional vocal performance of the track perfectly into a deep melodic progressive beauty that house or trance DJs will play as the vocal has the needed house touch and the beats, drive and synths carry their  trance influences. Looking forward for the new P.O.S album, I'm sure that will be blown away. #PureGold Love IT  [/content]
