Carl Cox has recently reconfigured his performances into a hybrid live set up, (re-)creating music on the go in a way he has never done before.
“It’s become increasingly difficult to stand out from the crowd in the DJing realm these days, so many people have become one! There are loads of DJs for each genre and so much variety within each genre as well but there aren’t that many live performing electronic artists. With this new set up I’m trying to turn another corner in my career and push the space I’m in into a new level. I’ve got 35, 40 years in this game so I deeply care about it and where it’s going, I hope that I can contribute to it in a way through these performances. Says Carl Cox when speaking of the new concept.
This new set up will be brought to life by Insomniac’s Secret Project Festival exclusively in Amsterdam. The festival is uniquely focussed on a single stage, highlighting the iconic headlining performer. Secret Project Festival is well-regarded for their stage design capabilities as well as their inclusion of contemporary art pieces on their sites. With Secret Project putting all of their expertise into the production of the show and Carl Cox at the genesis of a performing renaissance, this live show is due to be one of the most talked about events of the summer.

With two widely celebrated ADE events wrapped up at the Hembrugterrein, the Secret Project crew are no strangers to the location. The organisation’s thorough familiarity with the festival site as well as their long-standing reputation as industry leaders in event production undoubtedly make for a top tier event. The Hembrugterrein, once serving as an industrial area, was repurposed as a creative and cultural hub in 2003 and has now evolved into the perfect backdrop for festivals and events.

About Secret Project Festival

Born out of the bustling Los Angeles underground music scene, Secret Project has been making waves in Europe with a string of widely acclaimed events. Less than two years after their first venture into the European market, Secret Project has successfully hosted two sold-out flagship festivals during Amsterdam’s ADE week, as well as a beachside festival in Portimão, Portugal, and the inaugural edition of Pula Music Week. The foray into new territory is a result of Insomniac’s partnering with Amsterdam-based event organiser ALDA. Together they’ve increased their presence globally and it is with collaborations like Secret Project Festival that the two have cemented themselves as key players in the global scene.

Aside from diversifying in musical genres, ALDA is also looking at new frontiers geographically, taking part in the growing festival scene in Eastern Europe with Romania’s biggest dance festival SAGA. Part of ALDA’s image is their partnership with Insomniac, one of the USA’s biggest players in the event scene. Together ALDA and Insomniac are catering to an enormous global audience, presenting top of the line events on multiple continents.

One of the greatest DJs of all time, and for many the very symbol of this profession, the great Carl Cox, has answered the call of fans and confirmed his return to the legendary Dance Arena at EXIT Festival next summer! Thanks to him, the energy will start high from the opening day on July 4, which he will close with a special three-hour set, lasting until the early morning hours!

This will also mark the ten-year anniversary of his famous closing set in 2009, easily one of the greatest parties in the history of electronic music. “One of the best experiences for sure is when I played at EXIT festival”, Carl confirmed and added: “You have to play you, your soul, you have to play who you are, and that's what's really special about EXIT!”

Although his connection to EXIT is strong and lasting, he hasn't played at the EXIT's Dance Arena in years, due to his decision to reduce the number of shows as much as possible. This makes each of his appearances in front of the audience an exclusive and one of the experiences that should not be missed: “Everyone in the EXIT Team are very excited to have Carl next year!”, stated the festival founder Dušan Kovačević and added: “Ever since he decided to reduce the number of his shows and perform only on special occasions, the question was whether he would ever return. The emotional invitation we sent out together with the fans has confirmed that Carl also wants to be back at EXIT to write down some of the best pages in the history books of our beloved Dance Arena.”

The return of this true DJ legend to EXIT came about after a joint effort between the festival organizers and the numerous fans. Soon after he won the annual poll where the fans voted him their no.1 wish for the Dance Arena lineup, EXIT published a video in which they invite “King Carl” to return to the fortress. The fans joined right in, sharing the video with the #CarlCoxEXIT hashtag, inviting the living legend to return in front of the “most hard-core audience”, as he called them in one of his numerous interviews about EXIT Festival. The popular DJ answered right away that he will indeed perform at officially the Best Major European Festival. In one of the interviews, Carl Cox said that EXIT is bound to get “two or three more of those in the future” after the first title won in 2013. and the prophecy indeed came true earlier this year.

Carl, come back:

Carl Cox has been one of the most wanted DJs in the world for decades and after 15 seasons of his legendary “Revolution” parties on Ibiza, he left the Space club in 2016 as the person who made it into one of the greatest clubs in the world, after which he was crowned the unofficial king of this unique island. Apart from this, until 2017 he had his Global Radio Show which had up to 17 million listeners a week in 35 countries, after 16 years on the air.

With each EXIT ticket fans get the beach festivals as a gift!
With the holidays inbound, EXIT announced the holiday offer, where purchasing the EXIT Festival ticket also gets you the tickets for two more beach festivals in the Adriatic, as a gift! Sea Star Festival is the first one that opens the summer season at the beautiful Croatian coast on the weekend of May 24-25, as well as Sea Dance Festival to close it at the end of August in Montenegro! You only need to confirm your arrival to Sea Star and/or Sea Dance by registering for complimentary tickets from 1st to 28th February at Exitfest.org. The offer is also valid for all who have already bought the tickets for EXIT 2019.

Tickets
EXIT tickets can be found at exitfest.org, and for those who wish to bundle them with accomodation and local transfer, there are also packages from €135. Default accommodation is the festival camp that is also on the sand beach, but in Novi Sad, next to river Danube, while hotels can be booked through EXIT's official tourist agency at exittrip.org.

EXIT Festival will be held 4-7 July 2019 at Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia and the first acts have already been announced, including The Cure, Carl Cox, Greta Van Fleet, Dimitri Vegas&Like Mike, Phil Anselmo&The Illegals, Sofi Tukker, Tarja, The Selecter, Peter and the Test Tube Babies and many more yet to be announced early next year.

EXIT Festival 2019 will take place from 4th to 7th July 2019

About EXIT
Started as a youth freedom movement in 2000 that brought down the oppressive regime of Slobodan Milosevic, EXIT has since grew into one of the leading festivals in the world with previous bookings that include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Depeche Mode, Robbie Williams, Guns'n'Roses, Arctic Monkeys, The Prodigy and Motorhead to name but a few. As the only contemporary music festival that grew from the social activism, EXIT will mark the 50 years since the original 1967's Summer of Love and remind its fans to peace movement of the 60's, conveying the messages which in today’s world are needed more than ever.

EXIT - where hedonism meets activism.

Carl Cox rocked the House of Commons on Wednesday 11th May 2016 at the House The House charity event to raise awareness of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ)’s and War Child’s text to donate initiative to support children in conflict zones.

House The House was attended by MPs, charitable donors, and figures from across the music and media industries. The legendary DJ Carl Cox was supported by 19-year old Holly Louise, overall winner of the House the House nationwide DJ contest, and 16-year old Stanley Hood, winner of the 14-16 year old category providing admirable competition for the house and techno don.

Carl Cox at Last Night A Dj Saved My Life
Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’s 3-month text message donation scheme encourages supporters of Carl, LNADJ and the dance music community as a whole to give £5 by texting ‘OHYES’ to 70660. The funds raised will be given to War Child to support some of the world’s most vulnerable children, affected by the world’s worst conflicts in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Africa. The winner of the first text to donate draw, Anton Bell, won the opportunity to meet Carl Cox at the House The House event last night. The ‘OHYES’ text to donate initiative is also offering monthly prize draws up to the closing date July 7th. See link for terms and conditions.  click here

There is also a web donation link for the campaign. click here

6 regional finalists competed to win a place to play alongside dance music legend, Carl Cox, at the House of Commons. The initiative was set up to raise money and inspire the UK dance music community to champion a positive contribution to children in conflict zones across the world. For those not lucky enough to have attended the event, you can see all the action from the night with BE-AT.TV.

The regional heats were held in 6 UK cities and supported by the education partner, Access to Music, an educational body that develops creativity and vocational ambition via relevant engagement and guidance within the music industry.  The organisation has provided training to thousands of musicians across the UK.

Jonny Lee, Founder of LNADJ says: “What an incredible evening! This was a hugely important event for a vital cause - raising funds by getting young people engaged through their love of music. The entries were amazing this year, and Carl, Holly, and Stanley, all played fantastic sets. We’d like to thank everyone involved for making this a tremendous success.”

The event follows the ground breaking launch of ‘House the House’ in 2013, when Fatboy Slim and competition winner Bryce Fury made history by becoming the first DJs to play in the House of Commons.

WHAT THEY SAY
"As an ambassador of ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’, I am really excited to support this amazing competition focusing on children in conflict zones around the world".
Carl Cox, LNADJ Ambassador

"I’m a proud supporter of ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’ and the work that it’s doing with ‘House The House’. Music is a huge part of my life and to give something back in this way is amazing."
Fatboy Slim, LNADJ Ambassador

‘House the House’ has already proved a successful initiative and I am delighted in their focus this year on raising money for children in conflict zones. I urge people to support it in whatever way they can to maximise this fund raising opportunity for such a worthwhile cause.
Andrew Bingham, MP

‘House the House’ is the perfect example of the power of music. Not only what music can do for an individual but what music can do for communities all over the world.
Bryce Fury, House The House 2013 Winner

Access to Music is committed to working with young people to unlock their potential through music and creative industry activities. Having worked with ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’ in 2013, Access to Music knows that young people will be presented with a wealth of opportunities and positive experiences through the ‘House the House’ project. ‘House to House’ will also help young people enhance core values that will directly benefit their communities and a wider global society. Access to Music is proud and excited to be working with ‘House the House’ in 2016″.
John Taylor, Joint Managing Director Access to Music
