NEW album: HALIENE gives A Total Solar Eclipse Performance in Ibiza
As if the heavens themselves had chosen to take part in musical history, HALIENE found her most extraordinary stage yet, performing her second album, ‘Eclipsed’, beneath an exceptionally rare celestial event: Ibiza’s first total solar eclipse in more than 120 years, and what is believed to be its first sunset totality over 3,000 years.

On August 12, 2026, HALIENE and her husband, longtime production and DJ partner Matthew Steeper, performed the album from beginning to end as the moon moved across the setting sun, culminating in totality just above the Mediterranean horizon. In an extraordinary convergence of music and celestial timing, the performance reached its defining moment during “Eclipsed By You,” HALIENE’s collaboration with Ilan Bluestone, as the moon completely obscured the sun while it hung low over the horizon.

Few places could have provided a more fitting setting. One of Europe’s most celebrated sunset destinations and the spiritual playground of dance music, Ibiza became the meeting point of music, landscape and one of nature’s rarest spectacles. Conceived to celebrate both the release of Eclipsed and the August 2026 eclipse, the performance transformed the album’s central imagery of light, shadow and celestial connection into something unfolding in real time.

Billed as A Total Solar Eclipse Performance, HALIENE delivered Eclipsed in its entirety beneath the shifting light and shadow of the eclipse. With cameras rolling throughout, the performance captured every song against the changing sky, from the final moments of daylight through the breathtaking darkness of totality.

Running the eclipse’s duration, HALIENE delivered a moonstruck song-by-song, note-for-note performance through ‘Eclipsed’. Among its many highlights were the spellbinding ‘Solar Waves’, recent single ‘Right Love’, the irresistible pull of ‘Orbit’ and the dazzling ‘Heaven Left A Light On’. As the set unfolded, each track from her new pantheon collection was given its moment to shine, framed against the magnificent villa vistas of La Isla Blanca.

And then, right on cue, as the moon slipped fully in front of the sun, HALIENE delivered her and Ilan Bluestone’s spellbinding ‘Eclipsed By You’ - a truly show-stopping, once-seen, never-forgotten visual touchstone.

NEW album: HALIENE - eclipsed out on Black Hole Recordings
Joy and sorrow often live closer together than one imagines. There is, after all, no ‘becoming’ in life … without first waving a white flag at events beyond our control.

Across her career, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter HALIENE has created a language around the contrast between happiness and heavier hearted times, giving voice to the place where the paths of love, loss, hope and transformation cross. Now, with her sophomore album Eclipsed, she draws on those to create her most personal and expansive body of work yet.

Following Heavenly, her 2022 debut album, Eclipsed finds HALIENE stepping both into new stylistic areas, while also reconnecting with the musical worlds that shaped her beginnings. Across its fifteen tracks, the worlds of trance, melodic bass, cinematic electronica and pop songwriting shift in and out of each another’s shadows. At its heart though, Eclipsed is an album about what happens when that light changes.

Lyrically its songs trace loves, both found and lost, and identities once surrendered but now reclaimed. It’s about the people who carry us through our darkest moments, and the unexpected perspectives that can emerge from experiences we’d never have chosen ourselves. Rather than treating darkness as something to simply overcome, Eclipsed explores its relationship with the light: how one gives form and meaning to the other, and how sorrow so often enhances our capacity to experience joy.

“‘Don’t Give Up On Me’ is one of the most powerful songs I have ever worked on. It speaks to me so personally,” he says. “During my teenage years, I dealt with several major medical issues that were at the time difficult to overcome and changed my life forever. ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’ provides a message of hope and perseverance - a cry to keep holding on, even when times seem darkest. It is a message that resonates with me strongly, given my past experiences, and I hope it can help others see that there is always a brighter day ahead.”

“From first to last breath, life is a continual act of yielding to the unknown” observes HALIENE. “I hope in some way these songs become part of your own story and bring some meaning to your life’s troubles and joys alike.”

That duality runs the full course of the album. Recent HALIENE singles have already illustrated different sides of its world. The Ilan Bluestone collaboration Eclipsed By You marked a striking return to HALIENE’s trance bedrock, examining the point at which loving another person so completely can begin to eclipse your own identity. Solar Waves, meanwhile, emerged during a period of physical recovery and creative disconnection, its atypically soft vocal performance transforming limitation into intimacy and ultimately helped HALIENE rediscover the joy of creating.

Cathartically, on Right Love, she returned to the melodic bass sound that has long played a part of her musical DNA. The song explores the particular ache of meeting the right person at the wrong time. Confronting the reality of acceptance that some things, though doubtlessly beautiful and desirable, only arrive to change us -  rather than simply remaining forever.

Elsewhere, collaboration becomes another source of its rich expressionism for the album. Don’t Give Up On Me, created with Nikademis, grew from HALIENE’s memories of supporting her parents during their battles with cancer. Its poignant message of borrowed strength and of becoming someone else’s hope when they can no longer carry their own, finds an equally personal connection in Nikademis’ experiences with serious illness.

On Voltage, the ‘PhD to EDC’-journeying Miyuki joins HALIENE for an altogether different kind of awakening. Trance synths, techno energy and 303 drive underscore a song about breaking free from expectation and discovering what we’re truly meant to be – and do.

These previously revealed chapters form only part of Eclipsed. From its opening title overture, through My Reverie, The Other Side, her Koven collaboration Orbit, Heaven Left A Light On, House of Daydreams, Dark Side of My Heart, Found and The Hymn, the album continually returns to its central theme of illumination and shadow, before reaching its final moment: Totality.

In a musical landscape increasingly shaped by AI and repetitive chart formulas, it is refreshing to hear an electronic artist determined to push boundaries both musically and sonically. On Eclipsed, HALIENE resists predictability at every turn, weaving together unexpected genres, shifting time signatures, unconventional modes, and intricate harmonic ideas. From the collision of dubstep and drum & bass with Picardy-third progressions in “The Other Side,” to the 15/4 odd meters and pentuplet polyrhythms of “Dark Side of My Heart,” the album consistently reaches beyond the conventions of modern electronic music. “I wanted to push against the trend and make music that AI could never ‘dream of’” HALIENE explains. “Music with enough humanity, complexity, and unexpected choices that it could never have been generated by a formula, and yet it feels seamless, singable and even danceable.”

More than anything, however, Eclipsed is intended to travel beyond its creator. These are songs born from change, devotion, grief, resilience, uncertainty and joy, but their meaning does not end with the experiences that created them. Like an actual eclipse, Eclipsed finds beauty not solely in darkness or light, but in the extraordinary and evanescent moments when the two engage with one another.

This summer, Push returns to the album format with ‘Known Universe’ – the eighth longplayer in his eminent career. That 'known universe' specifically is the hardware-driven studio world that shaped his earliest work. The one that Mike Dierlickx painstakingly reassembled in order to reconnect with the tools, challenges and workflows of his original environment. In doing so he’s nailed an album that’s “the truest reflection of Push to date.”

‘Keeping it real’... It was a thing back then and something that lies at the very bedrock of what - production-wise - Mike Dierickx did … and still does to this day. Over his studio lifetime, he hasn’t mutated, changed-to-order or had his sound knocked off course by fleeting trend. Not even the once. Being true to the craft has quite literally been his be-all and end-all.

At points that might’ve cost him ground, but Mike had an oracle-like idea of what the long game looked like. Impactful music, made with heart, belief and integrity .. well, that finds a way of living forever … and further has an even greater tendency to return to the public consciousness.

Case in point, twenty-five years after their original release, both his ‘Strange World’ and ‘Universal Nation’ classics surged back into Beatport's All Genres Top 100 last year, propelled by renewed listener interest and a new generation discovering their enduring appeal. Tiësto lent a helping hand too by debuting his re-edit of ‘Universal Nation’ during his Dreamstate Southern California set, introducing one of trance’s landmark records to fresh ears. Case in point, twenty-five years after their original release, both his ‘Strange World’ and ‘Universal Nation’ classics surged back into Beatport's All Genres Top 100 last year, propelled by renewed listener interest and a new generation discovering their enduring appeal. Yet chart resurgence and high-profile deck endorsements ultimately bely something more significant than simply ‘throwback’ or ‘nostalgia’. It was about the timeless quality of Push's music and its continuing ability to bridge whole eras of electronic music.

By the millennium, just two years after he started producing, the ‘Mike/Push sound’ was a recognised deal for DJs. It’s one that’s hard to put into words but is as easy to translate as a single listen to ‘Known Universe’. Mike builds his productions around elegant harmonic frameworks, guiding expansive chord progressions through deft modulations before releasing them at pinpoint moments of maximum club-striking impact. His signature remains unmistakable: intricately layered leads and subterranean basslines, patiently shaped by evolving filter work and resonant flourishes. Anchoring everything is a flawlessly tuned low-end pulse, one that intensifies the drama forged throughout ‘Known Universe’s melodic architecture.

What Mike wanted from his eighth album was an ultimate distillation of Push. So, his method of approach became one of authenticity over convenience. Or, to put it another way, he produced it in just about the most painstaking (and sometimes painful!) manner possible, as he goes on to explain.

"The idea behind ‘Known Universe’ was to revisit the world that shaped me as a producer. Not just the sounds, but the tools, the creative environment and the trials that defined electronic music making when I first started releasing records. For this album, I challenged myself to work exclusively with the same generation of hardware that helped create tracks like those on my first album, ‘From Beyond’.

Machines that were ground-breaking at the time, but also far from perfect. Back in the day, technology had a personality of its own; equipment could be unstable, boxes could overheat, projects could be lost, and every studio session came with an element of unpredictability. Returning to that ‘known universe’ reminded me how much patience, problem-solving and instinct went into making music before everything became immediate and infinitely editable. In a strange way, those imperfections became the album's greatest strength, because they brought back a sense of authenticity that's difficult to recreate in a modern workflow."

Having blitzed the front end of the year with its vanguard singles, ‘Known Universe’ arrival means it’s main event time! The album releases July 3 on streaming, and is also available through digital download, CD and a very limited-edition triple vinyl pressing, featuring expanded artwork and full album sequencing across its three heavyweight discs.

Flux BPM Online Album NEWS Artist Press Photo Just In Christian Burns – Waking Up In A Northern Town There’s been a long tradition of musicians from the north of England honouring their origins through their recordings - one that dates back as far as The Beatles’ penning ‘Penny Lane’. ‘North Country Boy’, ‘Hit The North’, ‘Life In A ‘Northern Town’, ‘The North At Its Heights’, ‘It’s Grim Up North’ – just a few of the dozens that, over the following years, have championed its mass. Both culturally and creatively, the North tends to form more than the average core of an artist’s identity. It’s derived from a strong sense of pride in one’s place — not just its achievements, but in its character, humour, and resilience. Up north, ‘grey’ isn’t seen as bleak, but as honest and real: a backdrop that has shaped an unpretentious outlook on all things ‘life’. It engenders a sense of working through adversity, and through that, producing something vital, expressive and, well, frankly … elevated. Now, through his third album dispatch, ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’, singer, songwriter and BBMAK vocalist, Christian Burns makes his own mark in this grand practice. It could be argued that Burns actually began this process with the release of his last artist album in 2021. ‘Love Songs From Suburbia’s title and singles already played with the theme to a degree. There’s a distinct dichotomy between the two albums’ relationship though, as Christian goes onto explain ... “Love Songs From Suburbia’ was written during one of the lowest points of my life.. ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’ however was actually created during one of the best. It came at a time when I’d moved to the States and met and married my now-wife. “This album, well … there’s a lot of hope on here. ‘Love Songs’ was more like a plea for it. This is the one where it actually happens." As Christian points out though, “no one wants to hear an LP made up of twelve happy-clappy songs! That’s not real life.” So, in title and lyric, time and again over its vanguard singles, he’s cannily subverted or swerved the issue. The album embarks with ‘Darker Days’, and case-in-point, against its title type, optimism is never far from its surface. Likewise, his title-with-a-twist recent single, ‘Strangers’ counterbalances the more overtly elevating likes of ‘Fall To You’ or the trust-the-moment message of ‘I Will Follow’. "I'd say ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’ is definitely a continuation of ‘Love Song’s’ direction..." “If it were a movie," he jokes, “you could probably get away with calling it ‘Suburbia 2’. I look at them more as an interrelated body of work though, especially when it comes to the telling of some of the ebbs and flows of my life. Many of the experiences happened to me while I was ‘waking up’ in a ‘northern town’. Though I’m now based in the States, the north’s importance to me will never fade." Feeding into that are the visuals that accompany the album. From ‘the backbone of the north’ – the M62 carriageways which carve their way across its cover, ‘Northern Town’s imagery chimes one-to-one with its sonics. Christian says, "the music videos for the singles were all shot in and around (my hometown of) Wigan, and the artwork is all pictures I took there. Walking down old pathways I used to take when I was a kid, past my old school; in the woods where I used to walk the dog, when I was going through bad times. These are all places I revisited for ‘Northern Town’, which in turn was cycled back into the music evolving around it." Across its singles sway, Christian worked with a number of luminary co-producers - Cosmic Gate, Pretty Pink, Paul Thomas and Little Foot among them. There was one however who left an impression more broadly across its album canvas. Says Christian, “I initially contacted Banaati (of Monstercat fame) to work on the track that became ‘Embers’. His own flavour and sound translated brilliantly, and I loved the amount of space that he brought to it.” Across its singles sway, Christian worked with a number of luminary co-producers - Cosmic Gate, Pretty Pink, Paul Thomas and Little Foot among them. There was one however who left an impression more broadly across its album canvas. Says Christian, “I initially contacted Banaati (of Monstercat fame) to work on the track that became ‘Embers’. His own flavour and sound translated brilliantly, and I loved the amount of space that he brought to it.” In him, Christian had discovered a stylistic likemind and Benjamin’s backings prove to be a masterclass in transcendent space, knowing as much when to elementally delay or subtract, as to add. That develops an overarching atmosphere for ‘Waking Up In A Northern Town’, that appears to wrap itself around the listener, and one you’ll ever more find yourself leaning into. Fusing two generations of artistry along a single conceptual thread, Fisherman (Isaac Vissers) lands his debut album with a project as deeply rooted in family as it is in music. ‘Metamorphosis’ takes inspiration from a series of twelve graphic works created in the early 90s by Isaac’s father, painter Jack Vissers, with the meaning of each canvas now reinterpreted as a corresponding piece of music.

Across its twelve tracks, the album charts the human journey – one that moves from states of innocence and possibility, through the rebellious and aspirational stages, before finally reaching understanding, transcendence, and continuity.

Whichever way you cut it, there’s never been an album quite like ‘Metamorphosis’.

Talking about ‘Metamorphosis’, Fisherman says:
“This project started long before I ever touched sound. In 1993, my dad Jack created twelve paintings, without knowing where they would end up. For years, they just existed. Somehow, they found their way back to me. And over time, they became something else. Each piece shaped a feeling, a moment, a phase I didn't fully understand until I heard it. What he created back then became the foundation of what I created now. We never planned this, and that's what makes it special.

In a way, this album was already there. It just needed time to find its voice.”
‘Metamorphosis’ is designed as a complete thematic arc, where each composition interprets the symbolism and philosophy of its visual counterpart, transforming brushstroke into melody, texture into atmosphere and colour into motion. In doing so, Fisherman bridges two generations and three-plus decades, inventing his own dialogue between image and sound.

Opening in a state of suspended possibility, ‘Potential’s atmosphere reflects ‘becoming’ – the first gleam of existence, before ‘Hope’ introduces pad-warmth and breakbeat energy, channelling the essence of trusting without reason. With freer spirit still, ‘Playfulness’ (featuring Dutch singer-songwriter Susana) takes aim at the dancefloor and finds its centre square.


Where boundaries feel like cages, ‘The Rebel Within’ delivers the ‘Metamorphosis’ project its first major stylistic rupture, feeding tension, resistance, and self-discovery into a darker, more turbulent current. ‘Imagination’ continues that urgency, with nagging synth breaks and Disclosure-esque vocals, while the floor-flooring ‘Passion’ (alongside Coldharbour label-mate Nifra) lives in a place where neutral no longer exists and the human experience arrives in a burst of full-spectrum sonic colour.


By degrees, the album’s second half sees its lens-system widen steadily. ‘NextGen’ (Christian Burns featuring on vocals) carries the momentum of progress on, embodying the transition from self-discovery into world-building. That in turn augers ‘The Guide’, which adopts a more reflective tone, shaped by clarity and leadership, where worldliness becomes something to be shared. ‘Enterprise’ then cultivates that ambition into structure and permanence, where ideas evolve from loose sketches into something lasting and real.

As ‘Metamorphosis’ approaches the last works in its series, ‘Wisdom’ sees understanding supersede urgency, while ‘Legacy’ turns inward once more, to a time where one’s presence leaves a trace. Finally, ‘Life’ dissolves the last remaining boundaries, and in its own way brings the album full circle, to a place where there is no beginning or end ... but simply flow.
