[item value="10"]Ciaran McAuley & Sarah Howells - Fool's Gold[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Ciaran McAuley and Sarah Howells’ “Fool’s Gold” is a masterclass in modern trance production, combining technical precision with emotional depth. Clocking in at 134 BPM, the track embraces a euphoric uplifting trance framework enriched with Balearic textures and McAuley’s signature tribal percussion. The basslines are tight and punchy, driving the track’s momentum, while the layered kicks and dynamic transitions create a sense of perpetual motion. Sarah Howells’ vocal performance soars above the instrumental, adding an indie-rock timbre that gives the track a unique identity. From a production standpoint, “Fool’s Gold” demonstrates meticulous sound design. The harmonic layers and melodic hooks are built around lush synth pads and arpeggiated leads, which are processed with spatial effects that produce a three-dimensional atmosphere. The mixdown balances clarity and warmth, with each element occupying its own space without overcrowding the spectrum. Reverbs and delays are used tastefully to enhance immersion, and the track’s dynamic range allows for impactful drops and build-ups without listener fatigue. Transitions are seamless, allowing DJs to integrate the track easily into live sets, with well-placed cue points and looping potential. On the psychological and physiological front, “Fool’s Gold” has notable mental health and wellness benefits. Research indicates that listening to high-energy, uplifting music can reduce cortisol levels, enhance mood, and promote feelings of euphoria (Thoma et al., 2013). The track’s 134 BPM tempo aligns well with moderate cardio activity, making it suitable for fitness and wellness classes such as spinning, dance aerobics, or yoga flow sessions that incorporate rhythmic movement. Its euphoric melodies can stimulate dopamine release, contributing to improved emotional well-being and increased motivation (Zatorre & Salimpoor, 2013). In fitness and group wellness environments, music with strong rhythmic drive and melodic positivity like “Fool’s Gold” has been shown to increase endurance, synchronize movement, and enhance perceived exertion levels (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The immersive qualities of the production, combined with a vocal performance that touches on emotional authenticity, make this track both a personal listening journey and a collective energy booster in social or exercise contexts. In conclusion, “Fool’s Gold” stands as an exceptional example of euphoric trance music that not only showcases top-tier production techniques but also delivers measurable benefits to mental and physical wellness. Its balance of technical mastery and emotional resonance ensures both high replay value and significant application across recreational and health-related settings. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

[item value="10"]Lange & Sarah Howells - Out Of The Sky (Maratone Remix)[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Maratone’s remix of “Out Of The Sky” by Lange & Sarah Howells is a masterclass in contemporary progressive trance production. The remix elevates the original emotional anthem into a festival-ready powerhouse, combining precision sound design with carefully engineered production techniques that reflect deep knowledge of modern trance aesthetics. The track sits comfortably at 126 BPM, a sweet spot that balances energetic drive with melodic spaciousness, allowing DJs to seamlessly integrate it into both progressive and uplifting trance sets. From a production perspective, Maratone employs layered, sidechained basslines with a solid low-end presence that provides both warmth and punch. The kick drum is chunky and well-compressed, aligning perfectly with the rolling sub-bass to maintain rhythmic cohesion. High-frequency percussive elements—including shakers, hi-hats, and subtle rides—add a polished groove without muddying the mix. The harmonic progression is carefully preserved from the original track, with lush pads and warm synth leads that deliver clarity and emotional depth. Maratone also integrates spatial effects such as reverb and stereo delay to create an immersive three-dimensional sound field, enhancing the listener’s experience on high-quality sound systems. The remix’s structural design features seamless transitions with well-planned build-ups and explosive drops. Automation and filtering on the synth layers lead to dynamic tension that keeps the energy flowing, while the breakdowns highlight Sarah Howells’ tender vocal performance. The vocal processing is clean and retains emotional intimacy, with just enough delay and reverb to sit naturally in the expansive mix. Scientific studies have long confirmed the positive effects of rhythmically engaging music on mental well-being and physical performance. Listening to trance tracks at moderate-to-fast tempos like 126 BPM can stimulate the release of endorphins and enhance mood regulation (Thoma et al., 2013). Progressive trance, with its hypnotic grooves and uplifting melodies, has been shown to support mindfulness and reduce stress levels by promoting states of flow (Labbé et al., 2007). In fitness and wellness classes, tracks like Maratone’s remix can improve endurance and motivation, synchronizing with heart rate and encouraging rhythmic movement (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). Combined with the emotional uplift of Sarah Howells’ vocals, this remix becomes not just a dancefloor tool, but a vehicle for mental and emotional rejuvenation. Maratone’s remix of “Out Of The Sky” is a technical triumph and an emotional journey, perfectly suited for both peak-time club sets and personal listening experiences. By fusing meticulous production techniques with scientifically supported benefits for mood and fitness, the track establishes itself as more than a simple remix—it is an auditory experience that resonates with listeners on multiple levels. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Ahmed Helmy masterfully breathes new life into Markus Schulz and Sarah Howells’ trance classic ‘Tempted,’ delivering a blistering 2025 update that’s both sonically thrilling and technically sophisticated. This remix isn't just a simple rework; it's a meticulously crafted piece that showcases Helmy's prowess in modern trance production. The track opens with slithering synths that create a hypnotic, almost serpentine texture, setting the stage for what’s to come. These synth layers are intricately designed using advanced wavetable synthesis, likely manipulated through dynamic modulation envelopes to achieve their evolving, fluid quality. Underpinning this is a fierce low-end drive characterized by a pounding 127 BPM rhythm. The kick drum is tight and punchy, processed with precision through sidechain compression to maintain clarity amidst the dense mix, ensuring that each beat hits with raw, unrelenting energy. One of the standout elements of this remix is the treatment of Sarah Howells’ vocals. Helmy has reimagined her ethereal voice with a more dramatic and immersive touch, employing complex reverb algorithms and subtle delay feedback to create depth and space. The vocals are further enhanced by granular synthesis techniques, adding a textured, almost crystalline quality that contrasts beautifully with the darker instrumental backdrop. The breakdown serves as a masterclass in tension-building, with atmospheric pads layered over a bed of evolving white noise sweeps and finely-tuned risers. The transition back into the drop is seamless yet explosive, driven by razor-sharp synth hooks crafted through meticulous oscillator detuning and filter automation. These hooks are designed to cut through the mix, creating a sense of havoc that’s both controlled and exhilarating, pushing any dancefloor to its absolute limits. Ahmed Helmy’s remix of ‘Tempted’ is more than just an irresistible update; it’s a testament to the evolution of trance music production. With its blend of technical finesse and emotional intensity, this track is set to mesmerize crowds worldwide. #PureGold #LoveIT [/content]

Last month, through the release of ‘TH3RTY’, his epic in scope and thirty-strong-scale artist album, Mark Sherry marked a significant career waypoint (the clue being in the title!). Within five days of release, it’d hit #1 on the Beatport’s Trance chart and had entered the UK Official Album Downloads Charts at #73, but Mr. Sherry’s never been one to rest on those types of laurels. True to his 24-7 / 365 nature, he’s straight back to the fore today with his new single, ‘Heroes’.

They say ‘never meet your heroes’, but here, Mark’s gone one further and worked with one. Writing on Facebook in early March, he said: “I wrote 'Heroes with the incredible singer songwriter Sarah Howells! I've been a huge fan of Sarah ever since she released the amazing 'Find Yourself' with John O’Callaghan in 2009, so working with her on this one was genuinely a dream come true,”

With great power comes great responsibility, but Mark doesn’t care a jot about that! ‘Heroes’ is built on charging bass, galloping drums, furious snares, grinding FX and sub-riffs designed to get inside your mind! Sarah’s instantly recognisable (not to mention catchy) vocals capture the mood of Mark’s surging, stay-up-forever production. As she hits its chorus, he backs her to the fullest with his plucked strings, rippling synths and deeply moving piano notes.

March-Madness personified, ‘Heroes’ releases today through all good sales and streaming channels. Find it ‘here’.

[item value="10"]Mark Sherry & Sarah Howells - Heroes [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Mark Sherry has masterfully brought the beloved singer Sarah Howells back to the forefront with their remarkable collaboration "Heroes," featured on his recent album release. This track, clocking in at a heady 140 BPM, stands as an exemplary fusion of tech trance innovation infused with uplifting elements, designed to elevate listeners to unprecedented heights. From a technical perspective, the track showcases psy tech trance basslines that are characterized by their deep, rolling energy, perfectly complemented by aggressive kicks and raw, punchy drums. This combination lays a robust foundation that drives the track forward with relentless force. The inclusion of acid overtones adds a gritty, raw texture, further enhancing the track’s dynamic range. Sarah Howells delivers an anthemic vocal performance that shines brilliantly against this intricate soundscape. Her voice, both powerful and emotive, captures the essence of the track’s theme, which urges listeners to discover the hero within themselves. Her vocal delivery is not merely an addition but a pivotal element that resonates with the core message of empowerment and self-discovery. The production technique employed during the breakdown is particularly noteworthy. Here, Mark Sherry introduces expansive orchestral strings and potent anthemic synths, which converge to create a grand, cinematic atmosphere. This section of the track seamlessly blends with the overall theme, providing a moment of introspection and emotional upliftment before transitioning back into the driving energy of the main sequence. The track's structure cleverly incorporates sections with more subdued indie dance influences, including a spoken vocal part that complements the rough, edgy sounds characteristic of Mark Sherry’s style. These elements together maintain the track's underground, dark aura, which appeals to both trance aficionados and new listeners alike. Overall, "Heroes" stands out as a testament to Mark Sherry’s production prowess and vision, balancing raw electronic foundations with Sarah Howells’s crystalline vocal contributions. This track is destined to earn applause from the trance community, delivering pure auditory gold that resonates with its powerful message and technical brilliance. #PureGold Love IT. [/content]
