Perfecto Records, the label run by pioneering DJ, producer and legendary rave scene instigator Paul Oakenfold, celebrates its 25th Anniversary at The Gallery on Friday 9th October.

This is a landmark event for The Gallery, following the club’s monumental twentieth anniversary celebrations this year and the birthday festivities continue in earnest by welcoming Oakenfold’s record label which was in fact established five years prior!

Perfecto has made a colossal contribution to the evolution of electronic music since its inception back in 1989.  Founded by Brit Award winner and former World’s No. 1 DJ, Perfecto began at a time when house music, rave culture and the Balearic scene were all in full bloom, scenes that Paul himself helped create.

Oakenfold has enjoyed a 30 year career in music including being the A&R man at Champion Records signing hip hop and house acts, being largely responsible for putting Ibiza and Goa on the musical map and bringing Balearic and acid house to the UK which gave rise to the rave scene. The legendary DJ went on to DJ at Spike Island with The Stone Roses, one of the seminal moments in UK music history, and produced the Happy Mondays album ‘Thrills ‘N’ Spills & Bellyaches’, which defined the spirit of the Madchester generation. He has also remixed a huge plethora of artists from The Cure to U2, Madonna to The Smashing Pumpkins and many more.

This event is not just to commemorate twenty-five years of Perfecto Records, but also to celebrate Oakey’s unwavering affinity with electronic music and close association with The Gallery. A genuine ambassador for the night since its early days at Turnmills in Farringdon and Ministry of Sound, when The Gallery was considered essential testing grounds for all music signed to the ‘Perfecto’ imprint.

Expect to hear those seminal anthems by ‘Planet Perfecto’ and ‘Grace’ amongst others blasted out for a musical trip down memory lane sure to evoke the most poignant of memories.

The line up features Tilt (DJ set), Quivver, and Blazer supporting Paul in The Box, with special guest Seb Fontaine joining residents Gavyn Mytchel, Drazen, Jay Deep, and Craig Turner in 103.

DUTCH BREAKOUT SENSATION DYRO HITS THE GALLERY

Dyro, the Dutch breakout sensation who came to prominence 2 years ago will be returning to headline The Gallery at Ministry of Sound on Friday10th July.

The energetic young gun remix maestro emanates from the same DJ stable as Hardwell, Nicky Romero and Dannic and with over a million likes on Facebook and a slew of festival dates this year, including EDC Las Vegas, has been hailed as the one to watch.

Dyro has consolidated his position in the upper echelon of the DJ rankings, which has seen him take an unprecedented rise through the ranks commanding the same respect as his countrymen. In part at least, this success can be attributed to forward thinking record label, WOLV, with a resolve to provide exposure for undiscovered talent as well as those beloved headline names. Hence this wide ranging philosophy is reflected in Dyro’s pulsating club performances, with dirty big room bangers combined with untested tunes freshly mastered from the studio.

Also hitting The Box wil be Dutch DJ/producers DBSTF, Lancaster electro DJ D.O.D, Manchester’s Futuristic Polar Bears and Pukka Up DJ Marko Liv.

103 sees Gallery founder Tall Paul, Gavyn Mytchel, Danny Dove, DeeAfro and Daniel Mielowski present a residents showcase.

On Friday 24th April 2015, Berlin’s Claptone comes to London to unveil The Masquerade masked ball at Ministry of Sound’s The Gallery. For centuries, the world’s rogues and rich alike have donned masks for a night of hedonistic fun under a cloak of anonymity, and London’s clubbers will be invited to enjoy the experience of a Venetian Masked Ball in the mighty main room, The Box. There will also be a prize of free champagne + VIP table on the night for the best mask plus free limited edition masks given out on the night. DJ support on the night comes from Henry Saiz.

Claptone is hot property, playing up to 200 DJ gigs per year around the world. He performs wearing a gold Venetian mask, top hat and white magicians gloves to rapt music lovers at the best clubs and festivals on every continent. The Masquerade is an extension of this character that will bridge the divide between the dancefloor and DJ booth that’s been cultivated by the recent superstar DJ renaissance.

In 2015 Claptone releases his debut artist album on PIAS, full of his trademark house featuring an array of guest vocalists including Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Peter Bjorn & John, The Boxer Rebellion, Jaw and more. In addition his remixes of cult artists such as Gregory Porter (which currently tops the chart on the highly influential Beatport), Faithless and Metronomy have found their way into sets of all the biggest DJs worldwide. Just before this show, he will unveil his new live concept at Miami’s Ultra Festival before touring it at major festivals worldwide this year.

Did You Know? Gallery 20 Years Trivia!
1.The Gallery has played over 480,000 records throughout its twenty-year reign.
2.Over 1.5 million clubbers have passed through The Gallery’s hallowed doors.
3.The Gallery has hosted DJs from over 50 countries around the world.
4.Bizarre items handed into The Gallery’s lost property include a prosthetic leg, prescription spectacles and a tin of Heinz Baked Beans.
5.Following a motorbike accident, DJ Steve Lee once played sitting down, with his leg in plaster resting on a cardboard box.

The Gallery celebrates its landmark twentieth birthday with a flagship anniversary party at Ministry of Sound on Friday 10th April and 3 other parties on The Road To The Gallery’s 20th. These include a riverboat party with Aly & Fila on Friday 27th February, a free members’ party at Ministry on Friday 20th March, and an exclusive members party and one-off retrospective exhibition at Paperworks in Elephant & Castle on Friday 3rd April.

A milestone seldom reached in clubland, it holds special significance for London’s clubbers – an occasion to evoke laser tinged memories across two decades. What started off at Turnmills in 1995 for a one-off gathering of just fifty people has grown to what can legitimately be considered the biggest longest running weekly Friday night on the planet. Now based at Ministry of Sound after moving south of the river in 2008, The Gallery will continue to provide the capital’s electronic music soundtrack for the next twenty years and beyond

Having welcomed esteemed resident DJs down the years including Judge Jules, Sister Bliss of Faithless, Sander Van Doorn, Tall Paul and Markus Schulz (the latter two of which are current residency holders), The Gallery gave notable London club debuts to some of the world’s biggest DJs, including Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren amongst others. But with a fan base famous for its loyalty, the night has forged a reputation for being more than just music, providing an unrivalled sense of dancefloor unity and the catalyst for lifelong friendships and even the odd marriage or two.

However, birthdays aren’t just for reminiscing about good times gone by. It’s important also to look towards the future, a central part of The Gallery’s the forward thinking ethos that’s helped them cement such a renowned legacy. In addition to the weekly club shows, The Gallery will curate a number of special and one off events to begin the celebrations early, and to give something back to The Gallery faithful, as a thank you for their unwavering support over the past twenty years.

This road to the 20th anniversary culminates on Friday 10th April at Ministry of Sound, welcoming Gallery favourites W&W. After tireless efforts to secure Willem and Wardt for this momentous occasion, the Dutch duo returns for a first time since December 2013. Where a capacity crowd witnessed one of the Ministry’s most memorable festive celebration! Expect a customary energetic performance from the duo, crowned by those obligatory classics for an emotional birthday sing along.

"Alongside democracy, the free press and the NHS, The Gallery is nothing short of a great British institution! I'd go so far as to say no underground club night, has put on more parties, booked more artists, or brought joy to more clubbers than The Gallery. Here's to the next 20 years!" - Judge Jules

"I first got involved with The Gallery around 10 years ago. Fortunately got to play at Turnmills, which was one my most favourite clubs ever! On moving to Ministry, they continued to book the best DJ talent every Friday night. I honestly can’t tell you another night in the world which does this."
- Simon Patterson

"Ministry of Sound was actually the first club I ever played in the UK, it must have been around 1993. Being invited to play was a big thing and visited many times since – The Gallery always has a great crowd, great sound system and just a great night." - Paul van Dyk

The Gallery affirms its ethos for representing the whole electronic music spectrum by welcoming Chuckie to the club on Friday 13th February.

The pioneer of the ‘Dirty Dutch’ sound and label is revered for his surging bass lines, high-octane riffs and explosive drops as exemplified on his singles ‘Old School Sound’ with Yves V, ‘Able To Maximise’ with Crookers and ‘Makin’ Papers’ featuring Lupe Fiasco. Chuckie, who came to prominence with ‘Let The Bass Kick’ in 2009, has also remixed Deadmau5, Subfocus, Bauuer, Dada Life, Skepta, Felix Da Housecat, Hardwell and many more.

The Surinamese selector will no doubt be looking to obliterate The Box at his eagerly anticipated Gallery debut where he will play a 6-hour set. Expect a refined blend of dark house, bass and electro, facilitated by his jaw dropping technical ability. His Saturday Sessions showcase is still talked about today.

Now it’s time for Friday’s night of reckoning.

The Gallery re-launches its unique weekly big room clubbing experience on Friday 23rd January 2015 at Ministry of Sound with a line up that includes Simon Patterson, Jon Askew, Blazer, indecent Noise and The Gallery residents.

Building on the BBC Radio 1 success of a critically acclaimed ‘Residency’ series, The Gallery is celebrating one hundred episodes of Simon Patterson’s ‘Open Up’ radio show. This is a landmark achievement for Simon, who has opened up his tough brand of trance, techno and breaks to a global audience. Increasing the magnitude of this already special event, Patterson’s personally curated line-up purposefully alludes to this harder and much loved musical mantra.

To mark the occasion the club will host a live worldwide broadcast from The Box all night, and invites The Gallery faithful and lovers of harder music alike to come and make some noise.

The Gallery’s clubbing calendar begins a whole new year with its winning formula: excellence in the art of sound.
