1. 2nd Phase Remix [Trance]

In 2007 "Ricochet" was part of Richard Durand’s "For The Believers 2.0 EP", containing a more down-tempo progressive-, tech-trance vibe. Now 9 years later, it's up to "2nd Phase" to take Ricochet into 2016. Phew, do they succeed! Their version of Ricochet is powerful and full of energy. You will not be able to stand still when you hear the invigorating bass-line of this tune.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The good tracks never go away and that is true for Ricochet. Superb production that proved the versatility and ability of Richard Durand to deliver wide variety of music genres. The new 2nd Phase Remix is a powerful dark tech trance production that actually moves mainly in the techno territory except the breakdown that includes big travelling breakbeat sequence that will calm your senses for a while and then when the intense build up comes followed by the distorted synths get ready to be send to space and beyond. The sound is rough, raw, groovy and uncompromising so let the dark side tell the story. #PureBassPower Love It[/content]

Head-to-head, toe-to-toe, Dutchman-to-Dutchman-to (thinking about it!) Dutchman… Hey, it’s a time-honoured electronic music ‘Mix-Off’!

In the blue corner, the recently Reloaded one, Richard Durand, whilst over in the red, boxing clever and keeping matters just as Riel as ever, that man Sied. This month, the two duke it out on the remix of Tiësto’s (per DJ Mag), “artistically seismic” and (per us!) game changing ‘Traffic’.

Well, we’re talking it up of course, but in reality, this is no grudge match! At the frontend of the year, the two Netherlanders were ‘talking Tiësto’ and specifically chewing over his venerable back cat. The consensus was, that when it came to raw floor power, ‘Traffic’ was his MVP!

Thus, the pair have come up with possibly the ultimate ‘Traffic’ title bout, each reworking the classic to meet their own club-ends/times of the night.

Out on his Reloaded Music imprint , (former Tiësto protégée no less) Richard Durand reimagines ‘Traffic’ as a visceral late-night-special. Metal-on-metal percussion, heavily reverbed bass, fast-firing snares, squelched radio ‘traffic’ and squelchier still 303, all conspire.

Just as quickly to his toes, Sied comes out swinging with his Rielism Recs-released version. With a tempo & tone gearshift, he lifts the feel of the Original, before commencing a taut, high-wire-tense rollout of its mainline. A razor-edged sub-riff in underneath and big stabs over the top, he masses them together for a distinctly ‘primetime’ finale.

Two producers, two mixes, two labels, but one release date and only one outcome… Who puts ‘Traffic’ into the fast lane… you decide.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Richard Durand is back in hot action with his remix on Tiesto's classic Traffic. The ultra magnificent Dutch super hero of trance transform the original into an intense melodic psy tech trance influenced hymn with razor sharp basslines and superb application of the well known riffs that still give you instantly goosebumps when you meet them on the  dancefloor. Quality never stops when Sied van Riel add his sparkle Traffic and he delivers his 140 BPM pounding techy hard trance version with playful anthemic use of the well known synthy hooks with dutch trance and anthemic trance moments that will please any mainstage peak time trance set. It ensures High Traffic on your dancefloor. #PureGold Love it[/content]

NEW SINGLES & A MUSICAL DIRECTION, A NEW RECORD LABEL, LATE 2015 ARTIST ALBUM, NEW MIX-COMP SERIES & RADIO SHOW + MERCHANDISE LINE & RELOADED WEBSITE LAUNCH: DURAND UNVEILS THE FULL RANGE & SCOPE OF HIS SONIC 2.0!

Richard Durand, one of the principal players in the trance scene over the last decade, unveils his long-planned restructuring, with a root-and-branch change-up to all areas of his musical province.

Launching today, Reloaded will become the Dutchman’s new ‘all-bases-covered’ marque. With its maxim/mission of “Harder, Faster, Bigger, Bolder… Darker!” it’s a return-to-the-underground reorientation - his first since his career took off, nearly 10 years ago.

The reasoning behind the Reloaded move, Richard himself explains… “As my fans know, I love trance in all its flavours & colours. That’s been reflected in the very broad area of genre I’ve produced & played over my career. However, in the more recent times, I feet that became just too, too broad! I decided a while back that there was a need to focus on what inspires me the most. With that came the realisation that taking my music back underground was a necessity. To that end, I’ve been locked in the studio (having some of the best production months of my life!), developing a lot of music, which – as you’ll see & hear - falls inside a far tighter grouping. Stylistically that means much tougher & grittier tracks, with faster BPMs and all coming with my own twisted twist to them! The next year or so is going to be very exciting and very different. I hope you’ll come along with me and enjoy this ride!”

The first in a succession of Richard revisions will come with the launch of his new label, Reloaded Music, (which will slot into the place of the outgoing Terminal-4 imprint). With ‘Face Of Chaos’, September 28th will give fans first-taste of Durand’s new singles material, which will debut, exclusively, same day on Beatport. It’s already drawn a fevered deck & radio response from DJs, Aly & Fila, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Sneijder, Jordan Suckley, Standerwick and Mark Sherry among them. ‘Chaos’ has also been given swift props by UK music bible DJ Mag, who described it as “stimulating stuff!” The magazine went on to award it a healthy 8/10, saying its: “whipping break-beat loops (think ‘Tour de France’s intro on steroids) and its series of accelerating riffs are each more lashing, fierce and effective than the last!”

The single will swiftly be followed by other Reloaded Music releases, building to a new, more underground slanted artist album (his first since 2012’s ‘Richard Durand Versus The World’) in late 2015. Further Reloading will also occur on the mix-comp front. Having put together the last six editions, ‘In Search Of Sunrise 13.5 – Amsterdam’ (released this July) will be his last, as he relinquishes the reins of the much-revered series. Tracking his new, more propulsive musical theme, in 2016 Durand will be launching a fresh music-compilation series. ‘Reloaded – The First Round – Mixed By Richard Durand’ will become the first in his new, yearly dual-disc compilation line.

Also in sync with the shift will be a raft of other Reloaded-tipped change-ups. Reloaded Radio will be available as an Apple Podcast, through Richard’s Soundcloud & Mixcloud channels. Premiering on the last Friday of each month, it commences Sept 23rd 2015. The hour-long show will be a tightly structured summary of his current hottest floor-whackers, along with a 15-minute speed-mix from a Reloaded-minded DJ each month.

You can also get ahead of the merch-curve and fly the ‘Richard Reloaded’ flag right away, with its just-released apparel lines. They’re available now through the freshly ‘reloaded’ RichardDurand.com portal.

“Harder, faster, bigger, bolder, darker” is the mission statement! Reloaded is cocked, locked and supremely ready to rock! Sights adjusted? Finger on the trigger!? Then you know what to do…
