🎧 Progressive House Review
⌨️ BT ft. Jan Johnston - Mercury & Solace (Sasha Remix) out on Black Hole Recordings
Somewhat impossibly, it’s been (wait for it) ... almost thirty years since progressive house evangelists BT and Sasha’s names featured together on the same release. Indeed, you’d need to roll right the way back to 1997 and the latter’s epic 12 minutes on BT’s ‘Remember’ for their last interconnective moment.
All of which makes what we’re looking at here quite exceptional.
Now we’d love to tell you that this prog house lover’s grail-level bucket list item is the result of years-long negotiations between the two houses. It was though as simple as Sasha dropping BT a line last year and requesting the parts. After giving it a first ID-revealing airing last autumn, it’s been popping up on Sasha’s setlists ever since. That’s led (somewhat inevitably) to feverish fan discussion regarding a release. And, well, that time ... is this time, with the bragging rights falling to Black Hole Recordings.
Since it gleamed into existence on his ‘Moments In Still Life’ album, Brian Transeau’s remained famously tight-lipped around the enigmatically titled meaning behind ‘Mercury & Solace’. Originally released in 1999, it stands as one of BT’s defining works, weaving together his filmic production ideals, progressive trance textures and bleeding-edge FX.
Sasha has located its “fruit of life” vocal shamanics in the opening half, while quartering Jan Johnson’s dubbed up and time-stretched its effortlessly eternal “reach out for me” refrain in the latter. That comes backed by a drawn down tempo, while he’s upped its b-line chug and swapped BT’s hi-hats for a more funked up perc roll, all or which expand its atmospheres no end.
A genuine moment in latter-day progressive house history, Sasha’s remix of BT’s ‘Mercury & Solace’ out now.

SUMMARY REVIEW
BT’s “Mercury and Solace” in Sasha’s remix is nothing short of a masterclass in progressive house and trance hybridization, and its technical execution justifies the perfect score it has received. The melodic hooks and harmonics are immediately captivating, with Sasha skillfully reinterpreting BT’s original motifs into a lush, evolving soundscape. The track opens with ethereal “fruit of life” vocal shamanics, carefully layered over a cinematic bed of pads that ebb and flow with harmonic tension. As the remix progresses, Jan Johnson’s timeless “reach out for me” refrain is quartered, dubbed, and time-stretched, creating a hypnotic loop that enhances the emotional pull while maintaining harmonic cohesion. This harmonic movement is not just musical but structural, driving a sense of journey that aligns perfectly with progressive set-building.
The sonic engineering and production quality are flawless, reflecting both Sasha’s veteran status and his meticulous approach to modern club soundscapes. The low-end b-line chugs with controlled authority, its frequencies tightly carved to leave room for the rich midrange layers and sparkling highs. The hi-hats have been replaced with a funked-up percussive roll that expands the groove, while subtle stereo imaging and phase tricks make the track feel alive in a spatial context. The mixdown achieves an impeccable balance, where every layer breathes yet contributes to the whole, and the mastering ensures that the track maintains dynamic impact without sacrificing warmth or depth, a hallmark of sonic excellence.
Effects and spatial design are deployed with precision, giving the remix its atmospheric and immersive qualities. Sasha’s use of reverbs, delays, and modulation effects transforms the soundstage into a three-dimensional experience, with vocal fragments drifting in spectral layers and percussive elements moving fluidly across the stereo field. This attention to detail in spatial construction reinforces the arrangement and build dynamics, which gradually unfold in classic progressive fashion. The track rises and recedes with intentional pacing, creating waves of energy that sustain both emotional resonance and dancefloor momentum, a duality rarely handled with such finesse.
Creativity and artistic identity shine throughout, as Sasha manages to honor BT’s original masterpiece while stamping his signature sonic fingerprint on the remix. Each transition is thoughtfully executed, with energy flow calibrated for seamless club or festival integration. DJs will appreciate its intro and outro mixability, as the extended phrasing and subtle cue points allow for flexible looping and layering. The remix’s catchiness and replay value come not from oversaturation, but from the hypnotic cycles of its motifs, which invite repeated listening in both personal and live settings. Its emotional impact is undeniable, evoking nostalgia for long-time fans while feeling fresh and forward-thinking for contemporary audiences.
In terms of practical utility, the track excels across all dimensions: from club and festival performance to online streaming platforms, its algorithmic fit and Shazam-ready hooks ensure strong digital traction. Its structure and energy also make it ideal for TikTok and short-form edits, without compromising its integrity as a long-form progressive journey. Crowd reaction potential is immense, with the combination of deep emotional resonance and infectious rhythmic drive eliciting both introspection and euphoric release. Sasha’s remix of “Mercury and Solace” is, in every technical and artistic metric, pure gold, reaffirming the legendary synergy of two titans of progressive music and delivering a timeless piece that will resonate for decades to come..

NEW COMPILATION
In Search Of Sunrise 22 The Awakening - Mixed by Markus Schulz out on Black Hole Recordings
A new Sunrise. Newer still perspectives.
Over its lifetime, ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ has become more than just a mix-compilation series. It's been a sanctuary for kindred wanderers - a place where wonder, beauty and discovery collect under an ever-shifting musical sky.
With Markus Schulz now exclusively helming the mixes and wholeheartedly forging its direction, the journey’s entered a new phase; one that builds upon ‘ISOS’s foundations, while continuing to look ever further towards its tomorrows.

"One of the greatest privileges of guiding ‘In Search Of Sunrise” says Markus,’ “is that each year brings another opportunity to tell a fresh musical story – and a complete one. The destination is always ‘Sunrise’, but the road that leads there is never the same. Allowing it to develop naturally is what’s kept the series thriving over its longer course."

For the second consecutive year, ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ will be presented across three separate releases throughout the greater summer season - allowing each set-mirroring section its own space and time to breathe, resonate and connect.

First to its fore and arriving 05.08 is ‘The Awakening’, where the textures of progressive house, melodic techno and cinematic electronica, mesh over eighteen exactingly selected and masterfully intermixed tracks. Spanning twilight to first light, it's a mix that celebrates the series’ most subtle of contrasts, as each track comes threaded with an unmistakable sense of the ‘yet-to-come’.

Deeper into the summer, that will be followed by the transcendent ‘Nirvana’ before the journey’s ‘closing party’ will land via the late-night pulse of ‘Nocturnal Voyage’. For collectors and deep listeners alike, ‘Nocturnal Voyage’s release will be accompanied by ‘ISOS 22’s complete vinyl and CD offering.

This year’s ‘The Awakening’ features aural drive from a myriad of gifted sound-crafters, Above & Beyond, Jerome Isma-Ae, Joris Voorn, French 79, VER:WEST, JES, Paul Oakenfold, Solarstone, Matt Fax, Alex M.O.R.P.H., among them. It also sees Markus leave his own studio mark with a new Dakota release ‘Edge of Morning’; his just released new single ‘Dive’ and his ‘ISOS’-only moniker Aeridan with ‘Catalina (Interlude)’. The mix also summits with his set-stealing Paul Oakenfold x Markus Schulz x Grace ‘Not Over Yet’ bring-back.

Markus comments further: "The Awakening sets the tone for the journey because it's about (dare I say it) infinite possibilities. You're seeding ideas that will continue to reveal themselves across the rest of the summer’s trip.

Some records arrive with huge histories behind them, while others are making their very first impression. Bringing those worlds together is where the magic happens. Doubtless you'll see and hear familiar names in new settings, unexpected connections between artists, and some moments that are – frankly - simply too beautiful not to include. Whether it's Dakota returning, welcoming Above & Beyond back to the series, or introducing another new creative (ISOS-specific) outlet for me via through Aeridan, every record’s earned its place because it served the journey - not because of the name attached to it."

2026’s ‘The Awakening’ out now.

⌨️ Mojave Grey & Black Circle Unite for Atmospheric New Single 'Heavenly' out on Armada Music
Mojave Grey and Black Circle join forces for their captivating new collaborative single, 'Heavenly', out now on Armada Music.
Blending emotive songwriting with immersive electronic production, 'Heavenly' is a soaring, melodic cut that bridges the worlds of indie, progressive house and melodic electronica. Anchored by Zander Bleck's soul-stirring vocal performance and elevated by Black Circle's driving production, the record unfolds with cinematic intensity and euphoric soundtrack equally suited to festival sunsets and late-night dancefloors.
For Mojave Grey, the project continues their mission to redefine the intersection of rock and electronic music. Formed by musicians, producers and multi-instrumentalists Zander Bleck and Michael Pozzi, the duo have carved out a distinctive sonic identity that fuses classic rock sensibilities with modern electronic textures. Drawing inspiration from the expansive landscapes of the Mojave Desert and their shared creative chemistry, the project creates music that is both deeply personal and sonically expansive, establishing themselves as one of electronic music's most exciting emerging live acts.
Joining them is the Switzerland based producer Black Circle, whose melodic productions have earned widespread acclaim across the global electronic scene. With releases and remixes supported by Carl Cox, Black Coffee, Pete Tong, Adriatique, ARTBAT, CamelPhat, Nora En Pure, Joris Voorn and Grammy-winning producer BURNS, Black Circle has built a reputation for crafting emotionally charged records that connect on both festival main stages and underground dancefloors. His catalogue has reached multiple No.1 positions on the Beatport charts, while collaborations with Andrea Oliva, Nic Fanciulli, Matthias Tanzmann, Yousef and Rony Seikaly have further cemented his status as one of melodic house's most respected producers.
The release also arrives ahead of a busy summer for Mojave Grey, who continue to expand their live presence with performances across Barcelona, Ibiza and the UK, introducing audiences to their immersive live show and genre-defying sound.
With its soaring melodies, powerful vocal and uplifting energy, 'Heavenly' captures the spirit of two artists pushing beyond genre boundaries. Arriving on Armada Records, the collaboration marks an exciting new chapter for both Mojave Grey and Black Circle, delivering a record designed to resonate long after the final note.

SUMMARY REVIEW
Mojave Grey and Black Circle’s collaborative single “Heavenly,” released through Armada Music, is a masterclass in modern melodic electronic production. From the first shimmering pads to the final resonant echoes, the track demonstrates a meticulous attention to sonic engineering and mixdown quality. The production opens with an atmospheric layering of reverb-treated synths and subtle filtered percussion, establishing a wide stereo field that immediately evokes a sense of cinematic space. Zander Bleck’s vocal enters with warmth and clarity, carefully seated in the mix through transparent compression and tasteful de-essing, allowing his emotional delivery to become the central anchor of the song.

The composition’s melodic structure is built on a series of harmonically rich progressions that glide seamlessly between indie-inspired motifs and progressive house frameworks. Black Circle’s production expertise shines in the use of spatial effects, with delays and reverbs cascading in sync with the groove, creating a sense of endless depth. The low end is tight and controlled, with a solid kick and bass interplay that supports festival-scale sound systems while leaving room for the midrange instrumentation to breathe. Every drop and build is engineered for maximum impact, with subtle automation and dynamic layering ensuring that energy flows naturally from one section to the next.

The arrangement and overall sonic design make “Heavenly” both club and festival ready, offering DJs extended intro and outro sections that are easy to loop and mix, while the breakdowns and drops provide euphoric cue points that can lift any dancefloor. The track’s production has clear crowd reaction potential, with vocal hooks that are instantly Shazamable and melodic refrains that resonate long after the first listen. Its balanced mastering ensures compatibility across streaming platforms, playlists, and social media edits, giving it strong algorithmic and cross-platform potential.

What ultimately sets “Heavenly” apart is its emotional resonance and creative identity. Mojave Grey’s fusion of rock and electronic sensibilities with Black Circle’s refined melodic house production results in a track that feels both timeless and fresh. The careful use of harmonic layering, immersive effects, and evolving dynamics creates an atmosphere that is as moving in a sunset festival set as it is in a late-night club environment. “Heavenly” is not just a showcase of technical excellence—it is a deeply immersive listening experience, crafted with precision and purpose, and destined to leave a lasting impact across dancefloors and playlists alike.
