Medicinne - a collaboration between two of Francis Preve's alumni: Arcader (Definitive, Academik) and deep tech DJ, Allen Tagle - delivers a stunning tech house debut with their "Saving/Lucid" EP.

"Saving" begins with bass-laden jacked up beats, then fuses deep house vocal slices with subtle techno flourishes, culminating in a surprisingly ethereal breakdown that never loses the groove. The result is a mesmerizing dancefloor journey that works equally well in both house and techno sets.

"Lucid" stakes out different tech house territory, combining indie guitar elements with Medicinne's driving-yet-funky progressive sensibilities. "Lucid" keeps the crowd guessing with a series of complex, yet utterly musical twists and turns that culminate in a massive atmospheric guitar breakdown, evoking the glory days of Sasha & Digweed without feeling forced or nostalgic.

With a debut like "Saving/Lucid", Medicinne quickly marks their place in the vast world of progressive tech house. Their combination of intelligent sound design and intricate musical details makes them a duo to watch in 2014.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The must always check record label Academik records returns with two awesome productions by the very talented Medicine aka Arcader (Definitive, Academik) and deep tech DJ, Allen Tagle called Saving / Lucid that will be praised and supported from all the big guns in the industry and with a reason of course. Saving is such a funky groover that will immediately lock you in its groove and will be super hard to resist it and not start tapping your feet or moving and shaking your body. It combines deep funky basslines, techy chunky groovy housey beats, chopped vocal samples, guitar licks, white noises, atmospheric strings and excellent combination of sound layers that create the perfect feel club atmosphere. Lucid on the other hand  is deep bouncy number with brooding moody basslines, techy chunky playful beats, cool little synths here and there while nearly the breakdown starts a very emotional dreamy synthy theme that transforms the dark beginning into something more inspiring and very amazing as well. The breakdown is quite tripped out with guitar riffs that add that rock edge to the track along with the more mesmerising sounds. The climax is a wonderful colourful sonic journey that will hypnotise you instantly and even put you in that special state of trance that music guide your body and senses and you feel unable to react or resist. Its one of those tracks that wide variety of djs will adopt for their sets. If you want some eclectic touch in your deep house sets don't forget to check always Academik records. Love IT

With their irresistible combination of precision-crafted beats, subsonic bombast and ethereal melodic flourishes, Matt Lange and Francis Prève have delivered a proper deep techno classic in the form of "Glow Ballz".

Starting with Matt Lange's ultra-detailed approach to drum design, "Glow Ballz" intelligently evolves into an moody techno groove, punctuated by Francis Preve's ethereal synth atmospherics. As the track progresses to its floating ambient breakdown, the groove expands, incorporating sonic flourishes worthy of an epic film soundtrack. When the drop hits, with its intricate rising percussion elements, dancefloors invariably explode.

"Glow Ballz" has been a staple in Lange and Prève's sets since last summer, always adding an element of surprise and euphoria to both artists' shows.

Jan van Lier's reinterpretation of "Glow Ballz" takes the track into groovier territory, with a driving yet funky tech house vibe embellished with house-inflected chord stabs and tribal vocalizations that are sure to make it a crowd-pleaser in both sweaty clubs and off-the-grid rave caves.

Combining two surefire floor-fillers, the "Glow Ballz" EP is just the beginning of Academik's 2014 reemergence as a label that focuses on sonic innovation from top artists and producers.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The stunning techno label Academik records returns in 2014 with an exceptionable collaboration between the beloved Matt Lange and the label honcho Francis Prève. Together the two very important figures of the modern EDM delivered an exceptional slice of melodic progressive techno with very warm melodic theme in the breakdown. The groove is very tribal and danceable, the rhythm is irresistible while the breakdown is the moment that the magnificent rock influenced main melody comes in to give you goosebumps and raise the hair from head to toe. Melancholic and moody, travelling and inspiring allows the spirit to escape for a while and the body to follow along with it when the tribal techno groove returns. 8 minutes of sonic perfection with sound textures and details that will open your ears to new music horizons.  Jan van Lier is on remix duties and he moves on the same tribal  pathway but with tech house tendencies in his mind rather the straight forward techno of the original. The rhythm has a latin feel while the additional themes add the retro vibe that I really like. The ethnic voices and natural samples create an exceptional atmosphere and you will start believing that you are not dancing in the middle of the dancefloor but rather you are abandoned in the middle of the jungle with this great track in your ears. If underground melodic techno is the sound you search for dont loose these two beauties. Love IT
