Continuing their arc through esoteric territory, ALAT return with Almadel Page 205, pushing deeper into the shadowed intersection of techno and trance. Drawing inspiration from the mystical texts that have defined their recent output, the track channels tension, restraint, and late-night vibes in equal measure.
Dark, driving, and hypnotic at its core, Almadel Page 205 unfolds with a melodic edge and a sense of ritualistic momentum; tailor-made for peak-hour transitions or those extended moments when the dance floor leans fully into the underground.
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]ALAT’s Almadel Page 205 emerges as a masterful blend of techno and trance, delivering a track that is both darkly hypnotic and melodically captivating. From the very first beat, the rhythm, groove, and drive assert themselves with demanding, dominating kicks and tight percussive layers that immediately engage the listener, creating a foundation of forward momentum. The tough metallic basslines and rough drums work in harmony with the melodic hooks and harmonic layers, producing a cohesive soundscape that is both immersive and emotionally resonant. The breakdown introduces a haunting melody that builds anticipation, leading to an epic climax that feels ritualistic and cathartic. Transitions, drops, and build-ups are executed with precision, allowing the track to flow seamlessly in a DJ set, maintaining energy flow and momentum without ever feeling forced. The sound design and production quality are exceptional, with each element occupying its own space in the stereo field, demonstrating skilled use of effects and spatial design. The dynamic range and loudness balance ensure that the track is powerful without fatiguing the ears, while the originality of the arrangement and structure keeps it engaging across repeated listens. Almadel Page 205 shows remarkable creativity and artistic identity, reflecting ALAT’s deep connection to esoteric inspiration and underground club culture. The cohesion and storytelling feel intentional, with each section contributing to an evolving sonic narrative that pulls the listener deeper into the experience. While the track is primarily instrumental, its emotional resonance is undeniable, and its catchiness and replay value stem from the way it balances hypnotic repetition with subtle evolution. The intro and outro structures are thoughtfully designed for both club and festival use, offering smooth cue points and looping potential that makes syncing and blending effortless for DJs. Its BPM consistency at 132 ensures reliable mixing and supports dynamic energy for set flow, while its crowd reaction potential is high, particularly in moments of transition where the haunting melody takes center stage. Beyond its technical excellence, Almadel Page 205 offers significant benefits for mental health and wellness. Scientific research indicates that rhythmic music with consistent BPMs can reduce stress and anxiety by promoting entrainment, where the brain’s neural activity synchronizes with external rhythms (Thaut et al., 2015). The track’s driving energy and hypnotic qualities can enhance focus, improve mood, and support cognitive flow states, making it suitable for fitness and wellness classes like spin sessions, HIIT, or yoga flow with an electronic edge. Studies have also shown that engaging techno and trance music can increase endorphin and dopamine levels, contributing to feelings of euphoria and well-being (Fritz et al., 2013). Music with structured build-ups and release patterns, such as in Almadel Page 205, can reinforce positive emotional regulation, providing both stimulation and meditative immersion. #PureGold Loveit[/content]

Following the Coldharbour release of Kaleidoscope as part of HEL:SLØWED, Misja Helsloot returns to the label to present his solo debut with Autres Directions. Built around smooth grooves and a glowing melodic lift, the track unfolds with natural momentum, balancing emotional depth and forward drive before opening into a warm, emotional release. Subtle textures and evolving atmospheres give the record a timeless feel, fitting seamlessly into melodic trance and progressive-leaning sets.
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Misja Helsloot’s solo debut on Coldharbour, Autres Directions, is a proglifting trance gem that demonstrates exceptional production finesse and emotional storytelling. Clocking in at 128 BPM, the track masterfully integrates pulsating basslines, thumping kicks, and precision-engineered percussion to create a rhythm that is both hypnotic and highly kinetic. The opening section gradually introduces smooth grooves and a glowing melodic lift, setting the stage for a journey driven by intricate harmonic layers and progressive momentum. Each element, from the evolving pads to the subtle background effects, is meticulously arranged to build anticipation while maintaining a cohesive energy flow. From a technical production perspective, Autres Directions excels in sound design and mix engineering. The low-end is tight and controlled, anchored by a rolling bassline that synchronizes perfectly with the kick drum, providing the track with an irresistible drive suitable for both club and festival settings. Midrange elements—arpeggiated synths, percussive fills, and melodic motifs—are layered with careful attention to stereo imaging and frequency balance. The transitions and build-ups are executed with subtle automation and filtered sweeps, leading to drops that feel both euphoric and natural. Dynamic range is preserved, giving the track breathing room while still achieving modern loudness standards for DJ-friendly playback. Harmonic and structural elements play a key role in the track’s immersive experience. The primary melodic hook resonates emotionally, while secondary harmonic layers and counter-melodies evolve throughout the arrangement, maintaining interest without overwhelming the listener. Spatial design techniques, including reverb tails and delayed textures, create a three-dimensional audio field that enhances the track’s atmospheric qualities. The intro and outro are constructed with precision, making the track easy to mix, loop, and integrate into live DJ sets. Beyond its musical and technical qualities, Autres Directions has a measurable positive effect on mental health and wellness. Scientific studies have demonstrated that rhythmic music at moderate-to-high BPM levels can stimulate endorphin release, reduce stress, and enhance focus during physical activities (Thompson et al., 2001; Karageorghis & Terry, 2011). The uplifting melodies and gradual energy progression of trance music have also been shown to support mindfulness and emotional regulation, particularly in settings like yoga, fitness, and dance therapy classes (Pothoulaki et al., 2008). By inducing a state of flow and promoting physiological entrainment with the beat, tracks like this can simultaneously energize and relax the listener, leading to improved mood and cognitive well-being. In terms of club and festival suitability, the track’s carefully structured cue points, BPM consistency, and loop-friendly segments make it a versatile tool for DJs looking to maintain peak energy in a set. Its emotional resonance and euphoric climax ensure strong crowd reaction potential, while its subtle harmonic storytelling encourages repeated listening. This balance between functionality and artistry reflects Misja Helsloot’s creativity and evolving artistic identity. In short, Autres Directions is not only a technical triumph in modern trance production but also a holistic experience, blending musical craftsmanship with measurable wellness benefits for the mind and body. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

Robert Nickson returns with Nine Lives, featured on In Search of Sunrise 21 - Mix 3: Nocturnal Voyage. The track unfolds through warm chords, rising tension, and Robert's unmistakable emotional touch, building into a cinematic late-night moment that blends progressive drive with classic trance depth. Nine Lives emerges as one of the standout pieces from the ISOS 21 experience and a powerful big-room moment in live sets, already receiving major support from Markus Schulz and Armin van Buuren.
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Robert Nickson’s “Nine Lives,” featured on In Search of Sunrise 21 – Mix 3: Nocturnal Voyage, is a masterclass in proglifting trance production, seamlessly blending cinematic atmosphere with club-ready energy. Operating at 132 BPM, the track opens with lush, warm chord progressions layered over pulsating low-end textures, immediately immersing the listener in a hypnotic sonic environment. The production leverages sidechain compression and subtle stereo widening to create a sense of motion and space, while the combination of pounding kicks, rolling basslines, and percussive accents establishes a strong, dancefloor-driven groove. From a technical standpoint, “Nine Lives” demonstrates Nickson’s meticulous approach to sound design and structural development. Each element—whether the dark, evolving synth hooks introduced in the breakdown or the playful lead melodies that emerge in the climax—is carefully positioned within the mix using advanced EQ sculpting, reverb tails, and spatial imaging. The transitions and build-ups are executed with precision, often using filtered sweeps, risers, and automated delay taps to increase tension before explosive drops. The dynamic range is impressively balanced, allowing the track to maintain both clarity and impact without succumbing to excessive loudness compression. The arrangement follows a narrative arc that supports both live DJ sets and personal listening. After an initial period of thematic introduction, the middle section delivers a cinematic breakdown punctuated by atmospheric pads and a subtle harmonic shift. This creates a deep sense of immersion that evokes emotional resonance, before cascading into a euphoric climax where melodic hooks take center stage. The outro provides clean cue points, making it ideal for seamless integration into a trance or progressive set. Beyond its musical craftsmanship, “Nine Lives” has notable effects on mental health and wellness applications. Scientific studies have shown that rhythmic entrainment—where the brain synchronizes to musical beats—can enhance mood regulation, reduce perceived stress, and support relaxation (Thoma et al., 2013). The track’s 132 BPM tempo aligns with the optimal range for moderate cardiovascular exercise, making it highly effective for fitness and wellness classes such as cycling, dance-based workouts, or even yoga flow sessions (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The combination of steady rhythm, harmonic layering, and emotional uplift can trigger endorphin release and improve focus, contributing to holistic well-being during both active and restorative practices. Moreover, trance music’s immersive qualities have been linked to flow-state induction, where listeners experience heightened engagement and reduced anxiety (Csikszentmihalyi, 1990; Baltazar & Saarikallio, 2016). “Nine Lives” exemplifies this effect, as its narrative progression and evolving textures encourage a sense of timelessness and cognitive absorption. With full marks across rhythm, sound design, energy flow, and emotional resonance, Robert Nickson’s “Nine Lives” stands as a modern trance highlight—both a peak-time club anthem and a therapeutic listening experience. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

At its core, "Faultline" operates at a compelling 124 BPM, striking a perfect balance between deep progressive trance and raw techno infusions. The track opens with a meticulously crafted percussive framework, featuring crisp high-hats and tightly controlled kick drums that set a steady, hypnotic rhythm. Luke Terry delivers a powerful uplifter with Echoes of Solara; packed with soaring melodies, driving energy, and that classic trance emotion built for peak-time sets. The breakdown hits with pure euphoria before launching into a hands-in-the-air finale. A standout cut for fans of melodic, high-impact trance.
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Luke Terry's "Echoes of Solara" emerges as a masterclass in uplifting trance production, seamlessly blending technical prowess with emotive musical storytelling. At a driving pace of 134 BPM, the track showcases Terry's meticulous attention to detail, evident in its layered arrangement and pristine sound design. The foundation of "Echoes of Solara" lies in its pulsating basslines, crafted with precision to deliver both depth and groove. Utilizing sidechain compression, Terry ensures that the bass interacts harmoniously with the thumping drums, creating a dynamic ebb and flow characteristic of peak-time trance anthems. The percussion elements—a combination of crisp hi-hats, snappy snares, and punchy kicks—are processed with subtle reverb and delay effects, giving them spatial depth without overwhelming the mix. The punchy kicks are likely layered with sub-enhancing tools to maintain consistency across various sound systems. Central to "Echoes of Solara" are its highly emotional melodies and hypnotic trance riffs. Terry employs a blend of virtual analog synthesizers and digital VSTs to craft these melodies. The lead synths, with their warm, soaring tones, are enriched by modulated filters and subtle detuning, adding to their ethereal quality. The cinematic breakdown is a testament to Terry's compositional skill. Here, reverb tails are extended, and pads are layered to create a lush, atmospheric backdrop. Automation plays a key role, gradually building intensity through filter sweeps and resonance boosts, culminating in the track’s explosive climax. What sets "Echoes of Solara" apart is its balance between energy and subtlety. Terry avoids overemphasis on any single element, ensuring that each component—whether a trance riff, bassline, or percussive hit—serves the track's overall emotional arc. The dreamy, almost cinematic quality of the breakdown contrasts beautifully with the vigorous, high-impact drops, offering listeners an immersive auditory journey. In conclusion, "Echoes of Solara" isn't just a standout for fans of melodic trance; it's a showcase of Luke Terry's mastery over trance production techniques. From meticulous layering to inventive sound design, it's #PureGold indeed. Love IT[/content]

One of the most tenderly pensive songs of all time is Dutch vocalist LAKSHMI's tribute to 'Wicked Game,' which went viral on a television show and introduced her to a worldwide audience. It is natural throughout any artist's journey to continually draw inspiration from their youth; and among Markus Schulz's fledging exposure to dance music as a teenager was Pretty Poison's Catch Me (I'm Falling). Led by lyricist Jade Starling, her revival through Billboard topping singles such as Crazy have transformed her into current-day electronic folklore. As part of The Rabbit Hole Circus album, Stolen carries a suave of happy, feelgood vibes reminiscent of youthful days of innocence; a retro ambiance at heart for the modern day romantic ballad under an electronic prism.

With a feeling of elegance through her signature groove-driven musical approach, Miss Nine shares duties with ReDub for a first time collaboration; aptly titled Summer. Both artists have made quite an impression since their respective introductions to the Coldharbour Recordings family, and their talents dovetail wonderfully for this slice of blissful and feelgood vibes.
Fusing influences across house and trance, Summer glistens through dance music's wide spectrum, and is one that can be enjoyed either in the chilled environment, or in the heat of the outdoor party season.
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Miss Nine and ReDub deliver an exceptional track called Summer and you guessed it right the track smells and sounds like summer. It's great fusion of progressive house and trance in one blissful sonic environment with tropical sounds, cool sound effects, cool female vocal chops and overall truly positive carefree result that will invite you on the dancefloor dreaming and dancing for the forthcoming summer holidays. As the curtain descends upon Coldharbour Recordings for another year, it is only appropriate to reflect on the acclaimed label's 2023 output.
Markus Schulz's newly released artist album The Rabbit Hole Circus comes under primary focus through its fledgling single, Eternally with Diandra Faye; while also turning to techno stalwart Sam WOLFE to spruce up his now anthemic Dakota piece Manray.
Daxson continued to celebrate the release of his Face the Future album with the tender and Lachi-featuring Unmask, as well as his tandem with Xijaro & Pitch for The Awakening; Transmission's official 2023 theme.
Coldharbour Recordings became home to a substantial number of new family additions in 2023, with artists such as Miss Nine, Tim Clark, Pavlo Vicci, Norni, ZOYA, Romi Lux, Austin Pettit, Jardin, Kris O'Neil, Freak E Beatz, Avenue One and Rinaly making their bow.
Returning heroes in Robert Nickson, Davey Asprey, Ronski Speed, Talla 2XLC and GXD also starred, alongside label pillars Mike EFEX, Dave Neven as OCATA, Anske, ReDub and Nifra.
Sister label and euphoric techno focused Coldharbour Black is also represented through entries from ALAT, Dennis Sheperd as DR. DRTY, Rafael Osmo as Alt_Man and Joris Turenhout.
We thank our family of producers who have contributed richly once again to Coldharbour Recordings and Coldharbour Black across the calendar. Here's to more memories and emotions throughout 2024.
Highlighting a selection of his most significant contributions to Coldharbour Recordings, Mike EFEX presents the opening offering from his Collected series; including the previously unreleased Orbiter and dub version of Lights.
A continuous beacon of quality across both trance and techno for well over a decade, it's only appropriate to reflect and shine a light on the reasons why Mike EFEX is one of Coldharbour Recordings' most beloved artists.
His In Search of Sunrise entries in Midnight Colours, Evolution and remix of Lange's Angel Falls are included, along with melodic techno offerings Shadow & Flame and Visions in the Dark. And for euphoric techno lovers, Monsters is complimented by the fast-tracked Orbiter, as well as the dub mix of Lights, which previously was made exclusively for Markus Schulz's live sets.
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Mike EFEX is one of the most significant artists of the darker techno oriented trance sound on Coldharbour Black. Some of his finest moments are included on Collected: Volume One. If you are from another planet and it happens not to know yet this incredible talent just take some moments to enjoy some of the tracks included in this album. Powerful energetic driving basslines, thumping metallic drums, techy kicks, rough synths, dystopian atmosphere, melancholic strings and melodies and superb arrangement that delivers unforgettable moments on the dancefloor! You close your eyes and dance hypnotised transferred to planet Mike EFEX. I don't want to choose for you as I'm big admirer of his work and I recommend this album very much!#PureGold Love IT[/content]

A man of many talents, demonstrated beautifully though his recent artist album Onwards // Upwards, Dennis Sheperd dons his techno-inspired DR. DRTY alias for Coldharbour Black; and on the first of multiple outings for the label in 2023, he presents the upfront Osshale. The German has continually excelled in creating infectious melodies across his portfolio and it's evident again here, making the DR. DRTY project as an exciting one to watch through the realm of euphoric techno.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]DR. DRTY aka Dennis is doing once again his best to impress with his dirty techno alias on the most suitable home that is Coldharbour Black. His newest track Osshale is an exceptional dynamic headbanging head crashing body moving and body jumping mainstage euphoric techno in the trance way of course. His pounding kick, the fat dark basslines and his superb percussion will drive wild without doubts. The breakdown is ethereal and magical with choral style voices and big euphoric synthy hooks. The climax goes full on rave techno with tough foundation and hooky synthy stabs on top attracting and keeping the tech and trance families united under the same Dennis beats. we Love HIM! #PureGold Love IT [/content]
While being regarded as one of trance's beloved talents of the new generation, Daxson's desire to expand into new genres is exemplified by his euphoric techno debut. Made especially for Markus Schulz's In Search of Sunrise 18 compilation, First Light is a fierce and energetically powerful piece with vigour and drive. Featured at live events such as Transmission and Monday Bar, it will appeal to those who love their techno with panache; with a sprinkling melodic trance touch.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]If you think that melodic techno is something new better check the darker releases from Coldharbour recordings and you will discover that this sound was always around and finally got its recognition cause its simply deep progressive trance. Daxson delivers his first melodic techno track and its one for the books. First Light is an instant power banger with tough techno kick, driving moody basslines, thumping metallic dark drums and exceptional breakdown with highly euphoric but still dark and sinister synthy hooks followed by rough and raw drop ready to move big sound systems and make you sweat instantly! Daxson from trance to techno always keeps the quality levels to high standards. #PureGold Love IT[/content]
Lithuania's biggest Trance export / International DJ & music composer / Coldharbour Recordings producer / Artist at TotalVision Talent.
His latest track Confidence is out now on Markus Schulz globally respected and highly influential record label Coldharbour Recordings. We invited him for an interview and we are glad he accepted the challenge! Here you can enjoy his answers.
1-Dimitris: It would be nice to start by telling us your 3 most important achievements or goals fulfilled in your career so far that you very are proud of.
Anske: 1. Music released on multiple "In Search Of Sunrise" compilations.
2. Performed at Luminosity Beach Festival.
3. Started a brand new techno-inspired side project + something else announcing soon.
2-Dimitris: Why and under which circumstances did you took the decision to start DJing or producing electronic dance music?
Anske: For me it all began from music production (not with dj'ing). Making music almost all day long back when I was a teenager seemed super fun and immersive. It also felt like an escape from everything else. I was super intrigued by how music worked in general, how the sounds were created and everything came together. It's a whole another world really :)
3-Can you note down the top 3 producers that have influenced your decision to get involved in the electronic dance music scene and you admire and respect them very much?
Anske: Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz.
4-Dimitris: It would be fantastic to talk about your track Confidence on Coldharbour Recordings. Please tell us how this track came about and what was the idea behind it.
Anske: My brand new release is called "Confidence". It's a bit different than my usual stuff. But I think it's one of my favorites. Roaring synth theme, slower tempo, very climactic drop and super fun and groovy melody to it.
5-Dimitris: How long it took you to produce it and can u describe the production process in simple steps?
Anske: I had the demo idea of the track sitting around for almost 2 years, crazy. I guess I waited for the right time to release it out into the world. I remember the whole track coming together from the breakdown. I thought the melody was super cool and totally different than what I've done before.
6-Dimitris: Did you had any particular difficulties accomplishing that particular track or any specific technical challenges or obstacles that you had to overcome during its production.
Anske: There were a few changes indeed. In a way it's natural for most of the tracks. Sometimes you just need to do a week or even a month long break. And then when you come back you can hear the track more objectively and see whether there was something missing or needs changing/improving.
7- Dimitris: Which music composition software or hardware you prefer and why? What is your opinion of the latest movement to produce music with more analogue equipment and with less or without any digital software?
Anske: Ableton. I've been using it for ages now. I think it's one of the most easy-to-learn and flexible DAWs out there. I tend to work with digital software mostly.
8-Dimitris: Do you prefer instrumental dance tracks or you adore vocals? Please explain to us your position and if in your latest production you have vocals tell us how did you choose the specific singer and if it was great to work with her/him?
Anske: I usually release more instrumental track but I also adore making vocal tunes from time to time. It really depends.
9-Dimitris: Do you believe that artwork on your latest track is good and do you believe that artwork can attract listeners or record buyers? Can you mention the best artwork of a track ever released?
Anske: The artwork for the my latest release is a standard cover from the label BUT I can say that I had such fun making the official music video to it :)
10-Dimitris: Are you planning to complete an album or mix compilation soon? if yes please give us all the details about regarding tracks and how will look and sound like?
Anske: Yes! Announcing it this month. Something regarding my other new alias.
11-Dimitris:How much time do you spend promoting yourself in your social media and you see this as essential tool for self promotion and getting bookings too? Which social media is the one that seems to work better for you?
Anske: I'm not a big fan of constantly being on social media. I guess it's not in my blood that much. But I always try to be friendly and reply to people.
12-Dimitris: Please share your most funny and most serious incident that happen to you during your DJ performance?
Anske: Few times accidentally muting the whole track. Sounds silly now but at the moment it seemed like the worst nightmare, haha.
13-Dimitris: Are you enjoying to visit music conferences and do you have any plans to attend any of them in 2023:
Anske: Maybe upcoming ADE.
14-Are you happy with the way that royalties system works particularly regarding streaming revenue? Do you believe that artists get what they deserve from streaming providers/DJs playing your tracks in gigs/radio and selling music in physical formats like CDs/Vinyl or digitally.
Anske: I like how most record labels share and send the statements and statistics on time. However, I believe that most artists aren't being treated fairly regarding their stream revenues. In a way, it seems that most the music has lost it's value. This is quite sad. And weird, too. The music industry is really in a strange place right now (even stranger that it was before, lol).
15-Dimitris: Can you describe your music as certain music genre such as trance, house, techno or your music exempts these categorizations? What is your opinion about hybrid styles and the artists who are attempting to mix influences from various genres in their tracks?
Anske: For my "Anske" project it's mostly melodic stuff and for my alter ego alias "AN93" it's hard hitting euphoric techno.
Dimitris: Your message & wishes for Flux Bpm Online readers.
Anske: Thank you for your time! :)
Thanks to the beloved Anske for his great interview
