Anjunadeep finally share the brilliant second album from Japanese producer Momiji Tsukada, aka Qrion. ‘We Are Always Under The Same Sky’ is an uplifting and confident work that was challenging to make, but perhaps all the better for it…

Momi was born in Sapporo, Japan to a family who supported her passions and told her that “being different is okay, and even cool” - particularly powerful in a culture that Momi describes as conformist. It was not all plain sailing though, and the death of her father took a toll on the whole family. Making music began to function for her as something akin to “exposure therapy”, a way to “connect with her memories in a meaningful way”.

It’s been a decade since Momi moved to America, having initially visited and fallen in love with San Francisco on a fortnight-long visit. It was here that she made a lot of friends, including Spencer Brown, and eventually joined the Anjunadeep fold with her ‘Sapporo EP’. Just two years later, her debut album ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ was released to great acclaim, and her impact on the label was cemented.

After this however, Momi’s struggles with addiction worsened and she found herself unable to create for over 18 months. She went to rehab, and subsequently got sober - a wonderful development in her personal life, but one that left her asking herself, if “sadness and loneliness” were her biggest sources of inspiration, would she still be able to create music if she was stable and happy?

In 2024, she tackled this question head-on, and cites the year as a “turning point and wake-up call to learn to love [herself]”. Today’s new album ‘We Are All Under The Same Sky’ is a stunning testament to Momi’s resilience and her journey of “overcoming challenges and forgiving [herself]”. Anjunadeep team is very proud to release it, and look forward to hearing it on the dancefloor this year.

‘We Are Always Under The Same Sky’ on Vinyl
As Momi’s new album is such an intimate work it was only fitting for our vinyl pressing to be just as personal as the music…

Featuring vibrant artwork designed by Chinese-American animator and illustrator Zee Yorke, ‘We Are Always Under The Same Sky’ is pressed to Anjuna’s first picture disc and is available exclusively on the Anjuna Music Store.

The design features flowers that Momi used to draw when she was in rehab, and the back of the vinyl is set in the Bay Area of California where she used to sit and ponder the future when she lived in San Francisco.

The vinyl also comes with a four-page recipe booklet that features three of Momi's most cherished recipes that have accompanied her throughout her life and that help her feel at home wherever on the globe she is.

A beautiful addition to any fan’s collection, ‘We Are Always Under The Same Sky’ is shipping now from the Anjuna Music Store - click HERE to grab your copy.

Following the nostalgic sounds of ‘Miyanosawa’, Qrion takes us on another trip down memory lane with ‘Ice Palace’, this time reminiscing about childhood memories of the annual Snow Festival held in Sapporo, the city home to the small town she grew up in.

“ I was making music in Austin as usual. It was a very windy and cold day. Although it was 20 degrees Celsius, it felt like minus 5 degrees inside my headphones. The cold air against my skin reminded me of the Sapporo Snow Festival I visited as a child.

Winters in Sapporo are very cold, so I always wore my favorite red ski outfit and a hand-knitted hat with bear ears. I recall those rare family outings, where we admired various snow and ice sculptures and talked with my mother about how beautiful they were. My favorite memory was the large snow slide, where my sister and I would line up multiple times.

What I still remember vividly is how warm my father's hand felt through his gloves, despite the freezing cold outside. While composing, I felt sad and cried, realizing I would never feel that warmth again.

My inner clock stopped when I was a sophomore in high school, the year my father died. My body has grown, but it feels like my heart remains stuck in that time. Even now, it doesn't feel real, as if he is still away on a business trip to some far-off country. Accepting and understanding my father's death is a challenge I face as I move forward with my life. Now that I have quit drugs and alcohol, I feel like I am gradually making progress.” - Qrion
After playing standout sets at California’s Lightning In A Bottle Festival and Anjunadeep Explorations, Qrion is set to perform at Anjunadeep Open Air New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles and Mexico City.

‘Ice Palace’ is out now on Anjunadeep.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Qrion is definitely on the rise with superb tracks under her belt. His track Ice Palace is melodic dreamy progressive house at its best. Blessed with colorful optimistic nostalgic melancholic melodies, cool playful vocal samples, chunky grooves, thumping kicks, metallic basslines, and majestic piano chords in the fluorescent breakdown leading to the super nice dreamy climax that you should experience on a dance floor under the intense strobe lights! #PureGold Love IT[/content]
