Ever at the forefront of entertainment and continuing to break down the walls outside of dance music, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike once again showcase their heavyweight pull after being drafted in to provide the sound for the first official gameplay trailer of the latest in the Mortal Kombat series, Mortal Kombat 11. Their 2018 track with The Bassjackers ‘The Jungle’, originally released via Smash the House, provided the soundbed for the first glimpse of the latest instalment in the long-standing blockbuster game, which is set for release 23rd April.

Dimitri was present for the reveal event which took place in London on Thursday, and whilst gaining a first peek into the latest edition of Mortal Kombat also took part in the celebrity head-to-head event which featured other heavyweight names from the world of entertainment, from boxing star Chris Eubank Jr. to Arsenal football club’s Mesut Özil and Sead Kolašinac, while UFC superstar Ronda Rousey was also confirmed as a voice actor for one of the characters at the event. Dimitri took on and beat fellow dance music titan Don Diablo in the semi-final, before eventually succumbing to French Youtuber Squeezie’s talents as he took home the title.



Beyond dance music, Dimitri’s involvement in entertainment continues to flourish, as this latest involvement follows on from acting appearances in other high-action offerings such as Jean Claude van Damme’s 2018 film ‘Lukas’, while the brothers also appeared in the feature film from Moroccan directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Falah titled ‘Patser’ (meaning Gangsta) and have credits due in the upcoming George C. Romero film ‘Rise Of the Living Dead’, the follow up to cult-horror ‘Night Of The Living Dead’. Belgium’s favourite brothers are no stranger to soundtracking on-screen action either, famously remixing the original Hans Zimmer theme ‘He’s A Pirate’, which appeared as an official remix in the form of a bonus digital track on the recent ‘Pirates of The Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ movie. The brothers also provided the soundtrack for ‘Patser’.

Since last summer, Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have seen a career trajectory that has to-date surpassed all of their previous years. Notable achievements include claiming the #1 in the Billboard Dance Chart with their Ne-Yo collaboration ‘Higher Place’, being voted best ‘Best Global DJ’s’ at the EMPO TV Awards in Latin America, selling out 3 arena shows at the Antwerpen Sportpaleis for their 60,000 people homecoming show, as well as being voted World #1 DJ’s in the 2015 edition of the Top 100 DJs Poll. It’s fair to say that the past 12 months since the duo were last on the island with their House of Madness extravaganza has been nothing short of meteoric.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike give their take on Wolfpack vs Avancada ‘GO!’

Not content with being the #1 DJ’s in the world, recent movements suggest Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are hell-bent on total world domination. Fresh off the back of her edit of the massive ‘Café Del Mar’, MATTN is back and better than ever on Smash The House with her new track ‘How We Roll’, a collaboration with Dutch duo 2 Faced Funks, who themselves are following up on tracks on the mighty Armada Music and Oxygen Recordings. The combination is a match made in heaven, as the outcome of this musical matrimony is a peak-time club cut primed to make itself heard across the globe and into the sets of the world’s best DJ’s for the foreseeable future.

‘How We Roll’ is full of skippy snares, hardstyle kicks and a bassline that rips its way through the track, guaranteed to cause chaos on the dancefloor. A progressive house style pluck punctuates the track, joined by bursts of synths that keep the listener on their toes. The breakdown teases the elements as they filter up, leading a sea of lush tones to descend on the track before the pounding beats are dropped, pushed along by a low end arpeggio that rumbles underneath menacingly.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike vs Steve Aoki & Ummet Ozcan ft. the Belgian ‘Red Devils’ Score with ‘Melody’, the official UEFA 2016 anthem.

In October, Belgium's national ‘Red Devils’ earned a place at the 2016 UEFA European Championship in France. After the match at the King Baudouin Stadium, the world's best DJs, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike performed a sensational DJ set.

And as it turns out, that was only a taste of things to come. Because the Belgian DJ-duo also composed the official Euro 2016 anthem, ‘Melody’. At the request of the Red Devils and the Royal Belgian Football Association, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike got busy in the studio to create the Belgian Euro 2016 anthem. But they weren't alone. They were joined by international top DJs Steve Aoki and Ummet Ozcan. The result is ‘Melody’. It's a strong anthem that will inspire our Red Devils to perform at their best in France.

The video clip was created by director Adil El Arbi. You may have spotted him recently around Antwerp, where he filmed a part of the clip. It promises to be a film with an urban look and feel. And a sorely needed dose of positive energy for us Belgians.

Dave Till & Regi vs Rudy Zensky team up again on the massive ‘HEY’

Capitalising on the success of 2015’s ‘HIYA’, one of the stand out tracks on Smash The House last year, Dave Till, Regi & Rudy Zensky combine once again on the follow up ‘HEY’, a track which takes the best bits from the group’s first outing and supercharges them. The end result is a no-frills club smash that is set to further solidify the trio’s names as the go-to guys for monumental dancefloor anthems.

‘HEY’ is instantly distinguishable as a Dave Till & Regi vs Rudy Zensky track by the similarly distorted, hardstyle-esque kick that proved so popular on ‘Hiya’. An electronic sounding stab punctuates the intro and builds tension towards the first breakdown. Smash The House’s head honcho’s Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are always prepared to push the boundaries of dance music, and their edit of Bassjacker’s ‘F*CK’ is no exception. Bassjackers are no stranger to creating dancefloor anthems themselves such as “Bring That Beat”, “Marco Polo”, “Rough” and many more.
