[item value="10"]Lilly Palmer & Egbert - Rotterdam [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]“Rotterdam” by Lilly Palmer and Egbert is an electrifying techno masterpiece that captures the raw, unapologetic energy of the underground scene. At 154 BPM, the track is a relentless exploration into the harder edge of techno, delivering a pulsating experience that feels both visceral and meticulously crafted. The production reflects modern high-level techniques, including precision EQing for the low end, layering of analog and digital synths, and dynamic compression to maintain energy without sacrificing headroom. The resulting mix is impactful yet clear, with every element occupying its own space in the stereo field. From a technical perspective, the rhythm is powered by a driving four-on-the-floor kick, reinforced by syncopated percussions and sub-bass textures. Egbert’s influence is evident in the tight, rolling basslines, while Lilly Palmer’s signature touch appears in the carefully sculpted transitions and hypnotic build-ups. The track utilizes sidechain compression, reverb automation, and filter sweeps to create seamless drops and peak moments that are perfect for club and festival environments. The arrangement is structured for maximum crowd engagement, with cue points and loop-friendly sections ideal for DJ sets. Harmonically, “Rotterdam” relies on minor tonalities and layered atmospheres, achieving an immersive and edgy mood. Subtle melodic hooks and industrial textures intertwine with extensive spatial design, including panned delay effects and mid-range modulation, creating a sense of depth and forward motion. The track’s originality shines through its combination of aggressive energy and nuanced sound design, demonstrating both artistic identity and technical mastery. Beyond its production value, “Rotterdam” also offers notable psychological and physiological benefits. Research in music neuroscience suggests that high-tempo electronic music can enhance focus and increase dopamine release, contributing to positive mood regulation (Thoma et al., 2013). Its intense rhythm and driving momentum make it a powerful companion for fitness and wellness classes, particularly high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or spinning, where maintaining elevated heart rates is essential (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). Furthermore, the repetitive beat structures common in techno can induce flow states, reducing stress and fostering mental well-being (Labbé et al., 2007). By combining cutting-edge production with psychoacoustic benefits, “Rotterdam” stands as both a club weapon and a tool for mental and physical activation. It’s a track that not only ignites festival stages but also empowers listeners with energy and resilience. #PureBass Love IT [/content]

[item value="10"]Ben Nicky & HIX feat. Tori Smith - Sober (David Rust Remix)[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] David Rust's remix of "Sober" by Ben Nicky, HIX, and Tori Smith is a masterclass in hard dance production, skillfully amplifying the track’s energy to create an unforgettable auditory experience. Operating at an exhilarating 152 BPM, this remix is a testament to Rust’s technical prowess and keen understanding of hard dance aesthetics. The production process for this remix appears centered around enhancing the original's dynamic range while infusing that signature Berlin rave vibe. The track opens with pounding, punchy techy drums that immediately set a relentless pace. The drum programming features tightly compressed kicks layered with sharp claps and hi-hats, creating a driving rhythm that anchors the track. The rough, distorted kick drum is a standout element, providing a gritty texture that pushes the energy to its limits. Complementing the percussive elements are the deep, resonant techno basslines. Rust uses sidechain compression effectively here, allowing the bass to breathe while maintaining a powerful low-end presence. The basslines are crafted with oscillating synth patterns that add movement and depth, characteristic of the Berlin hard dance sound. Tori Smith's vocals are expertly integrated, treated with reverb and subtle delay effects to enhance their presence without overshadowing the instrumental. The pop-friendly topline offers a melodic counterpoint to the aggressive beats, making the track accessible for summer festival sing-alongs while retaining its underground credibility. Rust’s use of build-ups and drops is meticulous, with tension rising through filtered sweeps, risers, and snare rolls before cascading into explosive drops brimming with sonic intensity. The mastering process ensures clarity and impact, with a wide stereo image and balanced frequency spectrum that translates well across various sound systems. In conclusion, David Rust’s remix of "Sober" is a high-octane, technically sophisticated track that blends hard dance ferocity with melodic accessibility, making it a staple for dance floors worldwide. #PureGold Love iT[/content]

The harder styles in electronic music have been actively blended into the ADE program this year.

At ADE this year the Hard Dance Event of the previous editions will be blended within the ADE main conference program.

As hardstyle grows, the time has come for the beloved sound to become fully integrated into the event. Years ago, ADE has set up the Hard Dance Event (HDE) with Q-Dance because they wanted to give the harder styles a bigger role during ADE. As the years went by, it was noticed that hardstyle finally got the attention it deserves. That’s why ADE team have decided to make a change to this year’s program.

From this year on, the harder styles will become part of the ADE Pro, ADE BeamLab, ADE Sound Lab and the ADE University program. In this research, new insights were discovered about the visitors of hardstyle events and what drives them to visit these events. Definitely a must-visit for hardstyle aficionados.

In the studio with Phuture Noize at ADE Sound Lab. This next generation pioneer will be bringing his gear to ADE Sound Lab where you’ll be getting an intimate look into his makeshift studio set-up.

A panel about the art of stage design called The Creative Chain Revealed at ADE BeamLab. From the earliest concepts to the final product, the creatives of Q-Dance discuss what it takes to create the ultimate stage.

From underground to mainstream, the status of hardstyle within the dance scene has evolved immensely throughout the years. But what’s the reason behind the success of this sound that has been underground for so long? Find out in the ADE Pro panel How Hardstyle Became One of the Dominant Genres
