Not long after he started surfing, The Bearded Man found himself in an unusual spot. He was pretty tired of being called a haole on the north shore (even though it was true), and he was getting laughed out of every decent surf spot. Now of course, normal people should never, ever, EVER begin their surfing journey on the north shore of Hawaii, but The Bearded Man has never been one to play it safe. The summer season was almost over, and he knew that if he wanted to earn his spot amongst the in-crowd, he'd have to catch and ride the wave of all waves. One stormy afternoon, the seas were particularly fierce, with waves taller than most buildings. He finally convinced a cab driver to drive him onto one of the massive waves with a jet-ski (a couple hundos did the trick), risking both their lives in the process, and he attempted to catch the largest wave of the swell. He sling-shotted to the top of the wave, and for a brief, glorious second, he was on top of the world. Seconds later, however, he was nearly crushed by the same wave, breaking over 40 bones in his body. But he's a hearty fellow, and the next summer, he was right back out there again making a fool of himself. To this day, he has never, ever earned the respect of the locals.

This might surprise you, but when The Bearded Man came into being many eons ago, there was no concept of money. A child of the gods, The Bearded Man came to be in an era in which none of our modern trappings existed. In a sense, life was a lot easier. But the trouble was: how can you be a baller when you're not getting paid!? For hundreds of years, The Bearded Man dreamed of gold chains on his chest hair, of Lamborghinis, Cristal and all that. But it didn't exist. He'd wake up every morning, look in the mirror and say "Great, another day I'm not getting paid. Nice." It just didn't fit with his love of the swagged-out hip-hop lifestyle. So finally, he invented money, fractional reserve banking, and the entire system that we now take for granted. Is the world a better place now? Certainly it is not. But one thing is for sure: The Bearded Man can now whistle all the way to the bank.

For many years, The Bearded Man was relatively unknown. He was just a humble nobody, drifting through life. All that changed when the all-powerful Oprah featured his book in her book club. She had him on air to celebrate (it was a Skype-in show), broadcast worldwide. Needless to say, it became a whole big thing. Suddenly it seemed like everyone was looking to The Bearded Man for answers, when only just before he was one of them. He bluffed his way through call after call on the show, giving dodgy life advice as best he could, and sweating profusely through his lengthy beard. Finally one woman's voice caught his ear. She recognized him from a trip they were both on to Puerto Rico in '98. She knew the old him. Hearing her voice brought back a flood of memories long repressed. She asked him what the most important thing in life was, and he said: "When you find that kinda love, you should hold onto it. And maybe remix it for good measure."

Breathe in... breathe out... Pretty simple right? It's the easiest way for a bearded individual to relax. Not so easy for a fish out of water, though. The Bearded Man once spotted a little fish that flopped out of the sea, gasping for air. What was once so easy for the fish became impossible in the absence of water. If The Bearded Man is motivated by one thing on this earth, it's by the pursuit of love. It's not like he's *attracted* to fish mind you, but something about this particular fish was, well, pretty sexy. It was a strange and uncomfortable feeling, probably for both of them. Still, a voice inside told him he had to do something. So he scooped up the little fish and tossed it back into the water. Boom. She turned into a mermaid instantly. "I KNEW it!!" He said. He couldn't finish the thought before she reached up and dragged him into the water, shoes on and all. The two of them splashed around for the rest of the day. Great times had by all. The real question is: who found who?

Shelter Point continue an incredibly strong few months with the release of Cut Me Loose / Slow Air, two records that further establish them as a singularly talented act.

Cut Me Loose sees the duo in deeply reflective mode, with Liam Arnold’s haunting vocal flitting ghost-like amid heavily dubbed percussion and a throbbing, Reece-inspired bassline. But it’s arguably Slow Air that provides the real standout moment here: an epic, nine minute excursion through intricate harmonies and rhythms that develops into a frenetic techno cut, and calls to mind to work of electronic mainstay Jon Hopkins.

The single will be accompanied by a stunning remix of Cut Me Loose by Submotion Orchestra, a collective of musicians currently producing some of the most innovative and exciting music coming from the UK. A kaleidoscope of electronic bass music, entrancing vocals, ambient, jazz and dub, their output sits somewhere on an axis between Bonobo and London Grammar.
“Slow Air was recorded at 4am, we plugged line out synths into valve amps and subsequently destroyed them, but we got it on tape so it sounds cool.” Liam Arnold
Cut Me Loose / Slow Air is out 08 September on Armada Music. The Submotion Orchestra remix of Cut Me Loose is out 22 September

ABOUT SHETLER POINT
Comprising producer Robin Hearn and singer/songwriter Liam Arnold, Shelter Point are a Nottingham based duo whose deeply contemplative take on electronic music has drawn comparisons with Bob Moses and Mount Kimbie. Straddling indie and electronica with aplomb, previous releases include ‘Glass Into Gold’ and ‘Pale’ on RCA/Sony, with the former having clocked up over 500k streams on Spotify.

They say the music climate is constantly changing. What was hip yesterday is old news today, and so on. The Bearded Man was once booked solid in the 80s as one of the world's top keytar players. He had an oversized suit, and life was grand. As the 90s rolled in, the phone slowly stopped ringing. He'd get the occasional cover band gig, but it seemed that people weren't taking his skills seriously anymore. He slipped into a deep depression, wondering if the climate would ever change. For decades, his keytar gathered dust in the corner - a relic of a distant era. One day, while drowning his sorrows, he ran into Decoy! & The Royalties STHLM. They seemed to recognize something deep inside The Bearded Man, and they encouraged him to dust off his long-forgotten instrument. The result was the f***ing WICKED solo in this jam. Evidently he wasn't alone after all.

Poised to revolutionize the world of Dance music, American act Joyzu has given rise to ‘Running’. The song saw its release today and marks the duo’s second offering to The Bearded Man.

An astounding blend of flashy rhythms and killer vocals, ‘Running’ puts shame to most of today’s records by way of its infectious vibes and strong arrangement. Sealing the deal with the hulking synths and powerful lyrics that fill out the drop, this track sets the new standard by which all quality music is measured.

Hailing from respectively Sacramento, California and Denver, Colorado, Joyzu consist of Quinton Pope and Carson Willms. They shared the stage with a full range of leading DJs and producers (including AC Slater, Zeds Dead and Krewella) and their label debut on The Bearded Man, ‘Hear You Say’ (feat. Olivia Reid), charted in the Global and USA Viral Top 50. As the song racked up well over half a million streams on Spotify, Joyzu went on to sign an exclusive deal with Amsterdam-based record label Armada Music, a big step sure to boost their already meteoric rise to stardom.

Who doesn't love South America? The drama, the atmosphere, the extreme commitment to partying. These are all things that The Bearded Man LOVES about South America. He also enjoys long walks on the beach and... Wait a minute, what kind of interview is this anyways? Back to the point... Our hero has travelled extensively through South America, and he's experienced everything from deep, humid jungles to dry, freezing mountain tops. He's beached at every beach there is to beach, and he's enjoyed the city life of Buenos Aires. He's marveled at ancient ruins and explored the catacombs of Peru. He's done a pretty good portion of it all, but there's one thing he's never, EVER done. Ever. He's never ever questioned his sexuality. Not even once. Not for one second. Is that relevant? No, not really.

Have you ever stayed a club or festival when it?s over? Kinda weird huh? The magic just sort of disappears, and a longing feeling begins to creep in amongst the millions of discarded and crumpled beer cups. Suddenly you start noticing the not-so-nice smells of all the garbage around you, and the whole scene feels eerily quiet. Too quiet. The ringing in your ears is annoyingly loud and there seems to be an empty feeling inside. Whenever The Bearded Man feels this way, he skateboards home listening to Sebastien and Ovi's "When It's Over" and somehow that makes everything ok again. Pro tip: It also helps if you steal a piece of audio equipment from the stage when no one is looking. FWIW, CDJs have excellent resale value.

It's been said that the expanse of any given moment is as vast as the universe itself. It is only our profound tunnel vision that stops us from realizing this important truth in the course of our daily lives. Time dilation is a crazy concept to comprehend, but have you ever felt, as The Bearded Man often has, that sitting where you are, looking at what you're looking at, contains all of the most essential elements of life as we know it? That there's more beauty in a single tree than any piece of art that's ever been created, but we don't really care much about stuff like that in general, do we? When The Bearded Man stops, pauses, breathes, and looks around himself, he finds that's there's always more than enough of the love we need. And he will admit, that the ONE piece of art that's better than a tree is probably this track from Silience, so, there's that, which is nice.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Silience feat. Loyal deliver the stunning Love That We Need on The Bearded Man. We deal here with a straight forward melodic dreamy deep house production with superb organic percussion and nice drums along with deep basslines supported by nice layers of guitar riffs, warm piano chords and cinematic gentle strings. On top the soulful male vocal with the positive message about how much we need love we will certainly touch your heart deep and the easy to singalong lyrics will encourage to start singing with your friends and even record your own acoustic versions.  It's great pop dance record indeed with much potential. #PureGold Love IT  [/content]

Have you ever been to The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland?? If not, you can look it up on YouTube, honestly it's not that great... Still, The Bearded Man was there some years ago, and he walked into this attraction by himself. When the room started moving and the exits were blocked, he felt fear! Horror! Panic! At the disco! Soon he found himself on this strange roller coaster thing, and ghoulish creatures started appearing all around him. Suddenly, he saw a woman out of the corner of his eye looking right at him. He knew right then and there that she wanted it bad. Sure, her face kept alternating between being apparently human and a skeleton, but then again, he figured that was no different from most models these days anyways, so he went for it. Later he discovered that her husband apparently was decapitated at some point, but that didn't stop him one bit. This seduction was happening. And, funnily enough, that's why he's been banned from the park ever since.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Seduction by Boris Way is an excellent slice of deep melodic house with strong future house references. The track merges smooth melodies in the breakdown that relax you for a while with the vintage style male vocal while the drop is more energetic with chunky grooves, pulsating old school basslines and uplifting feel good piano chords. The lyrics are optimistic and motivating to inspire and take the listener to a deep surprising journey of love for quality beats. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

Lejon is back and he means business. Building on the momentum of previous single "Dusk Till Dawn", he brings ?Eyes Wide Shut? to The Bearded Man. Filled with old-school vibes that will have you reeling for more, this cut is the start of something really good.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The Bearded Man deliver another perfect warming anthem for the cold European days. Lejon give us the very sweet Eyes Wide Shut that can be described as chilling out deep house electronica production with superb rhythm and hypnotic groove merged with wide variety of luscious strings and smooth synthy plucks. The atmosphere has certain French disco house touch and certainly the funky side is evident on the final result. The only drawback is the vocodered vocal and despite the fact that lyrics are very nice and easy to digest I would prefer the vocal to be without any time stretching effect left on their pure form. Overall is a nice tune that spreads positive vibes. #PureGold Love It[/content]

There have been moments where The Bearded Man didn't speak to someone he loved for years. Years and years and years. Because of an argument, because of something stupid, because of stubbornness, or just bad luck. The universe works in mysterious ways, and some times some things just simply weren't meant to be. Whether it's a past fling or a distant family member, The Bearded Man often reflects on the relationships in his life that have been, for one reason or another, torn apart. It will definitely give someone plenty to think about while on the road, and these are the bittersweet moments that make life what it is. Best not to worry about it, but instead lean into it. If you wear sunglasses all the time and rock a long enough beard, they'll never be able to see how you truly feel anyways.

It's a well known fact that gold-diggers can be men too. Or rather, that men can be gold-diggers too. You see, opportunism knows now race, creed, gender, or ideology. Where there's money to be made, there's bound to be some hungry sycophants ready to kiss a$$ in exchange for ca$h. Maybe it's The Bearded Man's natural attractiveness, maybe it's his healthy, manly musk. But for whatever reason, The Bearded Man is popular with the older ladies. Like REALLY popular. And for some reason, it's usually the rich ones who are looking for some extra fun in the sun with a certain bearded gentleman. Has The Bearded man occasionally done it for the money? Yup. And he's not too proud to admit it, too. Still, he's also genuinely fallen for those with money, and the result is that he's always had enough of it around for his lifestyle. Call it greedy or callous, but he knows one thing for sure: the fastest way to get someone's money is to tell them you don't want it, and if you can convince them that you actually *want* to touch their skin, even better!

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]MÖWE are the very talented duo that always impress us with their incredible singles. Chunky grooves, pumping basslines, xylophone melodies, distorted vocal snippets along with the very stunning vocals with lyrics that any human can identify and feel deeply touched and moved from them. The performance of the singers are fantastic and the organic feel of the arrangement makes you think that you enjoy a live band rather than electronic music. The City of Angels... To quote The Big Lebowski, The Bearded Man didn't quite find it to be that exactly. From Skid Row to South Central, there's no shortage of oddball characters in Los Angeles. Of course, it's a well known fact that the weirdest weirdos of all live in Beverly Hills - there's no limit to the absurd amount of maniacs, degenerates, freaks and deranged individuals out there, but still, there's a certain inescapable charm that wafts in amidst the fragrant smells of street urine. Yes, the streets may be cracked, the infrastructure may be in shambles, but, BUT! But. Where else can The Bearded Man blast a jam like this one 24/7/365 and it's always appropriate? For those who love music and the beach side of life, the City of Angels will always be where it's at.

Calling all extras! It was The Bearded Man's time to shine. They were shooting a new Ariana Grande music video in downtown Los Angeles, and they needed bearded, sexy-as-all-f*** extras to play background characters. One look at The Bearded Man's headshot, and the casting director knew they had to have him. It was a night shoot, and that meant that he'd have to put on a pot of coffee and stay up till dawn. He knew the next 36 hours wouldn't be easy, since he was on set the next morning at 8AM for another shoot right after this one. At about 3AM, the director of the music video noticed that the video just wasn't coming together. Something was missing. He noticed that this bearded god character was in the background, and he yelled, "WHY THE HELL ISN'T THIS GUY FRONT AND CENTER!?" The Bearded Man stepped up and said: "It's Alright. I got this. Just roll the cameras." The crew started rolling, and The Bearded Man performed 15 straight minutes of the illest breakdancing moves the world has ever seen. The video isn't out yet, but you'll know it when you see it!

The Bearded Man can't play piano. But the piano sure played him once, and he'll never forget it. A sexy, innocent looking little baby grand piano caught The Bearded Man's eye one day, as if to say: "Come over here big papa, you like what you see?" The Bearded Man looked around the room, there was no one else in sight. The piano must have been talking to him. He wandered over to the piano - that little tease - and turned on the charm. The piano told him tales of how he could make a fortune on a sure thing. Now The Bearded Man isn't usually one who gets easily suckered in, but the impossibly cute piano's charm had him off of his A-Game that day. The piano started saying that all The Bearded Man had to do was carry a duffel bag across the border, and he could keep all the money he got on the other side. How hard could it be? With her ivory keys and her seductive sustain pedal, The Bearded Man was hanging on her every word. All he had to do was give her $10,000 dollars now to buy into the investment, and he'd collect a cool million when he dropped off the bag, for only one hour's work! Our hero went scrambling to find a bank. He withdrew $10,000 and tucked it neatly inside the piano cover - like tipping a very expensive stripper. He took the duffel bag, and got on the bus across the border. When he got off, he finally opened the bag, and inside was nothing but tissue paper. The piano had played him alright. And played him good. "Damn, she's better than me!" He thought. And only one person had ever bested him before - Edward Newgate.
