Trance Review: Frank Spector - Voulez Vous out on Armind / Armada Music
“C’est toujours La Nuit” and “Comme dans un Rêve” are French choruses that have resonated worldwide at festivals celebrating a new “French Touch.” These productions are all music from Parisian DJ FRANK SPECTOR. As a hip-hop producer and multi-platinum artist in France, he gained recognition in the electronic music scene in 2022 with his track “La Nuit,” featuring the superstar DJ Armin Van Buuren. Armin Van Buuren’s track “La Nuit” reached the top 27 in his Top 50 Best Tracks of 2022. In 2023, Frank released six new tracks with ARMADA Music, which have amassed over 10 million streams! His tracks “OMEN,” “1000 Miles Away,” and “Minuetto” feature captivating Techno/Trance melodies. “Is There Something,” “Les Etoiles,” and “GENESIS” are bangers with Frank’s signature hypnotic French choruses.
Frank is primarily a techno producer and enthusiast, and he showcases this passion every week on his show “TECHNO VERY MUCH.” For years, he has curated his selection of the best Techno tracks. In 2023, he made an impression with two releases on Techno labels: “Be Careful” with German Techno legend LAMPE and “Cosmology” with MARIE VAUNT (CODEX Records). Frank is also set to release two more Hard Techno tracks: “Evil Queen” with STAN CHRIST and “Exit Sector 2.0” with PET DUO. These releases demonstrate Frank’s versatility across different music styles.
In 2024, Frank released two new tracks on ARMADA: “LAMENTATION” and “LA NUIT TOUJOURS.” Additionally, he will release “Comme Un Rêve” with NIFRA on the US label DREAMSTATE Records, “EXODUS” on Nocturnal Knights, and “ETERNITY” on Find your Harmony Music.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] Frank Spector’s “Voulez Vous,” released on Armind, exemplifies technical mastery and refined production techniques that elevate it to a mainstage trance anthem of the highest caliber. Operating at a precise 129 BPM, the track demonstrates flawless rhythm and groove, with its thumping kicks and bouncy drum patterns establishing a consistent drive that makes it ideal for both club and festival environments. The electro-infused basslines deliver a gritty edge, anchoring the harmonic layers, while the melodic hooks and female vocal motifs intertwine to create a vivid and emotive sonic landscape. This meticulous layering of harmonic content contributes to a deep sense of immersion and emotional resonance, maintaining cohesion and narrative flow throughout the track. The production quality is nothing short of pristine, showcasing advanced sound design techniques and an expert approach to spatial audio. Frank Spector’s use of stereo imaging, reverb sculpting, and subtle delay effects imbues the mix with depth and dimension, enhancing its atmospheric qualities. The track’s transitions, drops, and build-ups are executed with surgical precision, ensuring energy flow and momentum are never disrupted. The dynamic range is carefully balanced: the loudness is competitive for modern festival standards yet retains enough headroom to avoid listener fatigue, which also makes the track well-suited for extended DJ sets where cue points and looping potential are key performance factors. From an originality standpoint, “Voulez Vous” stands out for its innovative arrangement that bridges dark melodic progressive trance and melodic techno, demonstrating Spector’s unique artistic identity. The vocal performance injects a sensual and hypnotic element into the composition, enhancing its lyrical impact and catchiness, which in turn boosts replay value. The intro and outro structures are crafted for seamless BPM sync and cue alignment, making the track an effective tool for dynamic set flow and maximizing crowd reaction potential on the dance floor. Scientific studies support the benefits of rhythmic and harmonically rich music on mental health and physical performance. Research has shown that music with strong rhythmic drive can improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance exercise endurance through entrainment and the release of endorphins (Thaut et al., 2015; Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). Tracks like “Voulez Vous” are particularly effective in fitness and wellness contexts, as their energetic flow and melodic engagement stimulate both emotional uplift and physical motivation. Immersive electronic music has also been linked to improvements in focus and cognitive flexibility, which contribute to overall mental wellness (Zatorre & Salimpoor, 2013). #PureGold Loveit [/content]
