The 11th edition of IMS Ibiza, in association with Pioneer DJ, brings together the most influential figures in the industry, including artists deadmau5, Seth Troxler, Nastia and Bedouin; the management teams behind Solomun, Armin Van Buuren and Black Coffee; agents from Coda and WME; speakers from the legendary events Burning Man, Sónar and BPM plus Scorpios Mykonos; A&R heads from XL Recordings and Toolroom; and leading visionaries on Blockchain, Drug Testing, Sexual Harassment and Mental Health.

International Music Summit (IMS), the premier global platform for business, culture and education within the electronic music industry, returns to the global dance music capital in May 2018 for its annual three-day educational, inspirational and motivational thought-leadership forum. Aimed at industry leaders and artists from the international electronic music sector, it throws a spotlight onto the complex challenges and emerging opportunities that really matter in today’s ever evolving industry.

Following the success of the 10th Anniversary event in 2017, IMS today announce 69 new speakers for its summit on May 23-25th 2018. The platform, previously described by media as “the TED of music conferences”, continues to be a catalyst for developing and launching initiatives that result in positive change within the electronic music industry.

Electronic titan deadmau5 (Artist, USA) and multi-award-winning DJ and producer Black Coffee (Artist, South Africa) will join the summit, discussing their own unique and inspiring paths to success, their thoughts on the industry and sharing what it takes to build and sustain a successful global career.

The electronic music industry in its current digital form experiences an array of challenges that blockchain technology may have the ability to solve. In recent months a number of start-ups are already targeting the music industry for disruption and with Spotify's recent acquisition of Mediachain, does this signal significant and permanent change or are we simply caught in a state of content creation and consumption? Widely regarded as the best authority on the topic, Benji Rogers (dotBlockchain Media, CEO & Co-Founder, USA) will deliver a Keynote Address on BLOCKCHAIN and later a BLOCKCHAIN 101 - essential viewing for anyone wishing to gain a deeper understanding of this complex subject.

Electronic music was built by people doing things on their own terms. From Phuture birthing acid on a TB-303 to London vocalists utilising YouTube to kickstart the UK's rap revolution, a do-it-yourself ethos has always pushed the movement into the future. In MIXMAG’S 5 UNDER 25 moderator Jaguar Bingham (Mixmag TV, Presenter, UK) will meet Caroline Simionesu-Marin (A&R Manager, XL Recordings, UK) and other young visionaries who are changing the shape of the electronic music scene.

Because knowledge is our best weapon she will join IMS Ibiza to share her research and learnings in THE LOOP: IS DRUG TESTING THE SOLUTION?

Music has a special way of healing the mind, body and soul….yet a British study found that musicians and those in the music industry could be up to three times more likely than average to suffer from anxiety or depression.

The first Remedy State retreat will take place May 20-23 2018 on the Balearic Island of Ibiza as a precursor to (and in partnership with) IMS Ibiza, the industry’s leading global electronic music summit in the world’s most important destination for dance music.

Founded by Ben Turner (IMS / AFEM) and Blaise James DeAngelo (DJ/Producer & former OWSLA Co-owner) out of a mutual love for electronic music and a desire to support the well-being of the community surrounding it, Remedy State is a wellness platform inspired by the practices of Integrated Medicine and ayurveda advocating self-care within the Arts & Entertainment industry.

“After a 25-year journey travelling the world appreciating and influencing the electronic music industry through many initiatives, I realised I needed to go on a similar journey about the lifestyle pressures surrounding how we work. When I started out as a music journalist, there was no email and no mobile phones. I sent faxes to artists as forms of communication. There was no help in the industry about diet or stress management. I’ve recently been in consultation with a personal dietitian and ayurvedic doctors and, keeping with the spirit of IMS and the Association for Electronic Music, I felt it necessary to share our vision and experiences for generations old and new. This is just the start.” Ben Turner
Long nights, odd hours and over-indulgence combined with relentless travel, social pressure and sustained solitude take a toll on our health that we can no longer afford to ignore.  Remedy State aims to address these health risks so that we can continue doing what we love.
"Seeing the industry lifestyle negatively impact my own physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and that of those around me seemed like a cruel irony given that music itself is such a positive and uplifting thing. We've all dedicated our lives to it, so we should be the happiest, healthiest bunch on Earth” comments Blaise James DeAngelo.
The DJ/Producer continued with his decision to launch Remedy State; “When I started noticing dozens of industry press discussing the same issue recently, I realized it's become an epidemic and wanted do something about it."

Nestled in the Es Puig area of Ibiza and surrounded by pine woods and beautiful gardens Sa Talaia is the intimate and tranquil boutique resort that will play host to the inaugural retreat where guests will learn simple and practical techniques for the maintenance of physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing tailored for the busiest of schedules, and will leave feeling recharged and ready for what’s next – the seamless prelude for the sights, sounds and discussions that IMS Ibiza, now in its 11th year delivers.

Founded on the principles of mindfulness, exercise, sleep regulation, physical therapy, nutritional guidance and medical evaluation, our program helps those in the Arts & Entertainment community to alleviate stress and anxiety, increase mental clarity and focus, improve overall physical health and nutritional best practices and maintain emotional wellbeing.

The platform is inspired by the practices of Ayurveda and Integrated Medicine, which combines Traditional Eastern medicine (Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Unani and Yoga, etc.) and complementary medicine (Naturopathy, Osteopathy or Nutrition, etc.) and focuses on harnessing the body’s innate healing power to prevent illness and promote overall well-being.

All attendees will benefit holistically one on one from Dr. Ahmed Ali, currently a Senior Practitioner at the Integrated Medical Centre in London. He comes from the founding family of Integrated Medicine and has studied IM under uncle Dr. Mosaraf Ali in India since childhood.

The retreat will also feature fully inclusive organic and vegetarian meals and nutritional consultations from nutritional therapist Catherine Arnold, plus keynote lectures from pioneering psychologist Dr. Norman Rosenthal who first diagnosed seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and light therapy treatment during his 20 years at the National Institute of Mental Health and was named one of the Best Doctors in America, and Richard Barrett, world renowned author / executive coach. Rounding out each day will be twice-daily Hatha yoga and meditation, breathing workshops, and nature walks.

Remedy State is presented in association with Pioneer DJ, who recently examined several prominent DJ's relationships with music and wellness in the important documentary WHY WE DJ - SLAVES TO THE RHYTHM.

Remedy State: IMS Ibiza will be an extremely intimate affair, so badges are very limited.

Retreat badges start at the introductory rate of €340.

A very limited number of on-site accommodation packages at Sa Talaia are available for an additional €900 (3 nights). These packages can be selected as add-ons during checkout.

Badges are available standalone via remedystate.com or bundled with IMS badge via internationalmusicsummit.com/ibiza/attend

Also on the impressive list is Brooklyn-based, Middle East influenced production and DJ duo Bedouin, who will share the booth with dance music royalty and IMS co-founder Pete Tong.

IMS is all about the industry collaborating so we’ve decided to extend this positive approach to the line-up of IMS Dalt Vila again. There are some classic pairings, some we’ve seen before, others for the very time such as Danny Tenaglia and Guy Gerber.”

MAAC (Music Against Animal Cruelty)  is a non profit organization with one simple directive: to aid in wildlife conservation. MAAC is a vehicle conceived by Jonny White of Art Department fame and long time friend and founder of Pulse Radio, Wade Cawood in collaboration with Tears for Tigers founder Jack Baucher to act as a broker between musicians, music industry and music fans alike, and organizations who are working on initiatives to save various animals facing the dangers of a diminishing population and/or extinction.

MISSION STATEMENT

Wildlife conservation is an issue near and dear to our hearts. We have come to realize that there is an often overlooked opportunity for artists and fans who are passionate about this issue to make a difference. Our plan is to galvanize the support of the music industry—a worldwide collective of likeminded individuals who together can make a significant difference.

Ultimately MAAC's objectives will extend to curating large scale events with the intention of raising substantial funds, allowing us to curate our own initiatives. In the interim we will be working as a "fund" to which anyone can contribute. We in turn will select various "grassroots" initiatives as beneficiaries. Whether it be to save lesser known animals who desperately need our help like the Wild Dog, or to enable Rangers to educate land-owners and farmers as to how they can safely utilize their land to produce crops or livestock without harming local wildlife, our mission is to help.

Some startling statistics:
- Every 20 minutes, the world adds another 3,500 human lives but loses one or more entire species of animal or plant life - at least 27,000 species per year.

- Every 15 mins an elephant is poached for its ivory.

- At the present rates of extinction, as many as 20% of the world's 7-15 million species could be gone in the next 30 years. This rate of extinction has been unprecedented since the disappearance of dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

- The Black Rhino population is down 97.6% since 1960.

- Listed as one of the world’s most endangered canids, and the most endangered predator in Africa, there are now only between 4,000-5,000 African wild dogs in the wild.

- The African lions' numbers are diminishing rapidly due to habitat destruction, persecution by livestock farmers outside of protected areas, and human greed. 10,000-15,000 free-roaming African lions remain, down from 50,000 a decade ago.

- Poachers are responsible for the death of a staggering 35,000 African Elephants in 2014 alone.

Social Experiment is a non-profit record label. 100% of net proceeds from sales of this record will go towards conserving wildlife in Africa.

At International Music Summit (IMS) it’s no secret that the use of social media platforms is key to promoting yourself as an artist. On Thursday 25th of May at IMS Ibiza, Glenn Miller (Facebook, Entertainment Partnerships EMEA, USA), Patrick Walker (Facebook, Director of Media Partnerships EMEA, UK) and Scott McKenna (Facebook, Entertainment Partner Services EMEA, UK) provided a panel on how to create an engaging and invaluable cross-platform strategy for your fan base via Facebook and Instagram.
“With Live, you want to know what’s happening next.” Glenn Miller
There’s numerous examples of the rise and power of using Facebook for an artist. A recent example that caught the world’s attention was the launch of the first Facebook bot with DJ/producer Hardwell. The bot had a staggering 60,000 users within the first two weeks, 1 million total interactions and an 6000% increase in fan conversations.

Launched in 2015, Facebook live provides a platform for an artist to tell their story and create a moment from anywhere in the world. There’s no hiding when you’re live, you’re authentic and there’s a social connection that your target audience will relate to. It’s key that as an artist, you stay completely up-to date with all the features that a social media channel will offer. With Facebook live, you can now schedule your announcements to take place in advance giving you that extra time to make your content more engaging.

Facebook is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the modern touring artist. The ‘tour creation’ feature allows you to add and collate all of your events and mark them as one tour rather than a string of individual shows. Furthermore, this feature tailors to each fans location only show tour dates in and around their region.

The recent boom of Instagram users has made the platform a tool that artists should utilize. With now over 700 million people using Instagram each month, the Instagram stories feature is a great way to provide short video clips to give insight into your life as an artist.

Videos like back stage at show may seem tiring to post for an artist but this type of content is the most interesting to your fans.
