To mark the 25th anniversary of their seminal track ‘Catch’, British electronic act Kosheen are rolling out a powerful series of reworks — starting with an electrifying reinterpretation by techno maestro Reinier Zonneveld, dropping now on Armada Music.

No stranger to recharging iconic cuts for modern dancefloors, Zonneveld delivers a relentless and high-octane version titled ‘Catch (Bounce Mix)’, injecting the original’s trip-hop roots with pounding kicks, turbocharged energy, and rave-ready intensity: Hard, fast, and unapologetically bouncy.

Originally released in 2000, ‘Catch’ showcased Kosheen’s signature fusion of trip-hop, drum and bass, and breakbeat— a genre-blending sound that helped define the early 2000s UK electronic scene. The track featured on their platinum-selling debut album ‘Resist’ (2001), alongside other crossover anthems like ‘Hide U’, ‘Hungry’ and ‘All In My Head’.

This rework series is part of Kosheen’s broader celebration of their 25-year legacy, which kicked off in 2023 with a global tour spotlighting the band’s most iconic tracks. With vocalist and songwriter Sian Evans still at the helm, Kosheen continues to captivate new generations while honoring the raw energy and innovation that made them a household name.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Reinier Zonneveld, renowned for his exhilarating reimaginations of iconic tracks, embarks on a compelling journey with his first rework in a series for Kosheen’s ‘Catch (Bounce Mix)’. This version stands as a testament to Zonneveld's mastery of hardstyle production, meticulously crafted to energize festival crowds and ignite dance floors with uncompromising intensity. At its core, the track pulses at a vigorous 146 BPM, a tempo characteristic of high-energy hardstyle. The rhythmic foundation is built upon robust, punchy kick drums that drive the track with relentless force. These tough drums are layered with intricately programmed percussive elements, featuring sharp, metallic hits that add a dynamic texture and aggressive edge to the overall soundscape. The bassline is a crucial component, engineered with raw, gritty synths that create a resonant, vibrating undercurrent. This rawness is achieved through meticulous sound design techniques, possibly incorporating distortion, saturation, and modulation effects to give the bass its signature hardstyle growl. The interplay between the bass and drums is finely tuned, ensuring a tight, cohesive groove that maintains momentum throughout the track. Vocally, Kosheen’s original lines are preserved and elevated. The excellent vocal performance is processed with precision to suit the fast-paced environment—likely involving pitch adjustments, time-stretching, and creative reverb/delay effects to blend seamlessly with the hard-hitting instrumental. The top vocal shines brilliantly, cutting through the dense mix and providing a melodic anchor amidst the sonic chaos. Zonneveld’s production techniques showcase his ability to balance aggressive energy with clarity and impact. The mixdown is meticulously handled, ensuring that each element—from the pounding drums to the shimmering highs—occupies its own space without overpowering others. The mastering process likely emphasizes loudness and crispness, key for tracks destined for large festival sound systems. Ultimately, this rework of ‘Catch’ is not just a high-octane anthem but a masterclass in hardstyle production. Its technical prowess, combined with Zonneveld’s signature flair, makes it a surefire crowd-pleaser and a standout festival-friendly anthem. #PureGold Love IT. [/content]

News comes as the publisher continues to prioritize creative A&R investment, expand its burgeoning roster and fuel the success of dance artists globally

Armada Music Publishing, the dedicated publishing division of Armada Music Group, has announced extended deals with renowned dance DJs NERVO and Reinier Zonneveld, as well as the renewal of 90% of its sub-publishing agreements. These extensions signal the strength of Armada Music Publishing’s relationships with producers, publishers, and catalog owners, and speak to the value the company brings to songwriters and emerging talent.

Armada Music Publishing’s future efforts with Australian DJ duo NERVO will focus on artist development through releases and writing sessions with third parties. Known for their prolific songwriting, NERVO has written and produced hit songs for artists like Kylie Minogue, Ke$ha, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and Miley Cyrus. Armada Music Publishing controls the publishing rights to several of their biggest hits, including “Worlds Collide” and “Best Friend” by Sofi Tukker ft. The Knocks & Alisa Ueno.

The publisher’s renewed agreement with Dutch DJ and producer Reinier Zonneveld will spotlight international expansion and collaborations with other artists and producers. The initial partnership, which began in 2021, successfully developed Zonneveld’s identity as a powerhouse live performer. Widely lauded for his innovative live sets, solely consisting of his own repertoire, Zonneveld played over 100 shows in 2024 and is preparing for his debut US headline tour this spring. In 2024, he performed back-to-back with his AI alter ego at the R² Festival for 30,000+ attendees in the Netherlands and will return with the second edition of the festival this year as he continues to push the boundaries of live shows through his use of cutting-edge technology intertwined with his own tracks. Armada Music Publishing owns the publishing rights to some of Zonneveld’s most popular dance-floor hits, including “Flying Octopus” ft. HI-LO and Oliver Heldens,“CSE” and “Fist on Acid” ft. Angerfirst.

Armada Music Publishing also renewed 90% of its sub-publishing agreements, initiated last April following the acquisition of Amsterdam-based music publisher, Cloud 9 Music, through BEAT Music Fund. This underscores the publisher’s strong and trusted relationships with its partners, who continue to demonstrate their confidence in the company’s expertise and creative vision.
“These deal extensions are a direct reflection of the demand we’re seeing in the market, Armada’s company evolution, and our team’s dedication to the one-of-a-kind dance artists we serve,” said Maykel Piron, CEO and co-founder of Armada Music Group. “After acquiring Cloud 9 Music in early 2024, Armada Music Publishing grew from a small-scale operation to a dynamic team of twenty. We’re thrilled to continue our success with NERVO and Reiner Zonneveld, and are looking forward to helping more artists fulfill their unique creative potential.”
Operating under its parent company, Armada Music Group, which provides label, publishing and catalog acquisition services under one roof, Armada Music Publishing leverages the label’s artist-centric approach to creativity to seize burgeoning opportunities for today’s creators in the publishing world.
