A bold leap into the darker, more experimental side of the dancefloor

Brazilian powerhouse duo Cat Dealers have joined forces with fellow producer FAIOLLI to unveil ‘Big Black’, a razor-edged, offbeat club track with high-voltage energy and undeniable underground appeal, released on Tomorrowland Music today. ‘Big Black’ is a bold leap into the darker, more experimental side of the dancefloor. Built around a rolling offbeat bassline, ‘Big Black’ pulses with a sexy groove, and a nasty drop engineered for peak-time club destruction. The spoken freestyle-style vocal from David LeSal adds grit and personality, bringing a commanding presence to the track’s shadowy atmosphere.

Cat Dealers: “It’s a track inspired by this new wave that features ‘offbeat bass’ as the main element, which is something we’ve been exploring in our productions, with a strong club sound. We reached out to David to create a more spoken, freestyle vocal, and it fit perfectly with the track. We really believe in this sound for 2025.”

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]'Summer Thing,' originally a sun-soaked hit from Dragonette, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Cat Dealers, and Bruno Martini, receives a masterful genre transformation by Moeaike. This remix ventures into the realm of afrohouse, characterized by its hypnotic 120 BPM tempo, which perfectly balances energy and groove, making it ideal for late-night dance floors. Technically, Moeaike’s production showcases meticulous attention to sonic detail. The deep basslines are robust yet controlled, providing a solid foundation that anchors the track without overpowering the other elements. The tribal percussion is layered with precision, incorporating congas, shakers, and intricate rhythmic patterns that add a dynamic, organic feel, enhancing the afrohouse aesthetic. The warm sonic textures are crafted through expert use of reverb and delay effects, creating an expansive soundscape that envelops the listener. Synth pads with rich harmonic content subtly fill the background, adding depth and emotional resonance. Moeaike’s choice of analog synth sounds contributes to the track’s warm, immersive vibe, distinguishing it from more sterile digital productions. Vocally, the remix retains the essence of the original but enhances it with strategic processing. The vocals are mixed prominently, with slight reverb and delay to integrate seamlessly into the atmospheric backdrop while still standing out. The use of occasional vocal chops adds a modern, club-ready flair without detracting from the song’s emotive core. In terms of production techniques, sidechain compression is subtly applied, particularly on the bass and pads, to create a pulsing effect that complements the rhythmic drive. The arrangement is thoughtfully crafted, with tension and release moments that maintain listener engagement, expertly transitioning between breakdowns and drops. Overall, Moeaike’s rendition of 'Summer Thing' is a technically sophisticated, emotionally resonant afrohouse track that reimagines the original with finesse. Its production values and techniques not only highlight Moeaike’s prowess but also ensure it resonates powerfully in club environments. #PureGold Love IT[/content]

Just ahead of starting the first leg of their U.S. tour, Cat Dealers have released a monumental record to supercharge their sets with. Reworking their own 2021 collab with Dragonette, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and Bruno Martini, the Brazilian brothers dropped a club-tailored rendition of ‘Summer Thing’ that will surely take center stage during Brazilian carnival at the end of February.

After the success of 2021’s ‘Summer Thing’ and the remixes from Kryder and Le Bisous, Cat Dealers target dance floors across the globe with a big rendition of their own. Thoroughly pushed into a club dimension, this remix from the Brazilian brothers will surely amplify any clubber's nighttime experience.

“Although we love to produce a lot of different stuff, ‘Summer Thing’ is one of the songs that strayed a little from our identity,” Cat Dealers say. “The idea of the remix came with the intention of bringing a version that matched more with our sets: something more energetic and clubbier."
Formed by the brothers Lugui and Pedrão, Cat Dealers are among the hottest acts in today’s international electronic music scene. The pair cultivate the second largest YouTube channel of the Brazilian electronic music scene with more than 880,000 subscribers, have a Spotify following of over 2.5 million monthly listeners and racked up hundreds of millions of streams on Soundcloud, Spotify, Deezer and other streaming platforms in a few years’ time. As the current #66 DJs of the world according to DJ Mag’s most recent Top 100 DJs poll, they touched down on all five continents, playing in venues in the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Italy, Portugal, Poland and even Spain, where they opened for David Guetta at Medusa Festival 2018. Now, the pair are about to embark on a full-scale U.S. tour.
