Two Dutch electronic music powerhouses join forces in the form of Nicky Romero and Afrojack's new track "Back To Where We Started." The release seamlessly fuses both Romero's and Afrojack's styles, making for a banger of a track with elements of big room and progressive house. "Back To Where We Started" opens with energetic beats reminiscent of EDM's heyday in the aughts, and it becomes clear that veteran fans and new ones alike will be served a dose of nostalgia. It climbs into a breakdown that builds up heavy anticipation before a hard-hitting drop that's simply meant for the festival or club scene. This is the very first time that Nicky Romero and Afrojack have collaborated after a long history of remixing each other's works, such as Romero's remixes of Afrojack's "One More Day" and "Hero," and Afrojack's interpretations of Nicky's "Okay" and "Rise." This time, "Back To Where We Started" was created for the opening of their "Two Is One" b2b set during ADE's Amsterdam Music Festival, and both have played the record in several sets already around the world. We're hoping that this will be one of many collaborations between these two.

The highly anticipated collaboration between Nicky Romero and W&W “Hot Summer Nights” is a fact! It’s the third collab of the Dutch superstars, in 2018 they released “Ups & Downs” (34M+ streams) on Protocol and last year they released “We’re Still Young (15M+ streams) on W&W’s Rave Culture. Nicky and W&W have been playing “Hot Summer Nights” in their sets during the summer, with a surprise visit from W&W on stage at Nicky Romero’s Tomorrowland weekend one set.

Nicky has had multiple successful releases this summer from “Easy” with NIIKO X SWAE, his dance-pop single “I Hope That It Hurts” with Norma Jean Martine and his deeper record “Out Of Control” with EDX on Spinnin’ Records. W&W have been dominating dance floors and festivals across the globe for years on end. Voted #14 in this years DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll for a fourth year in a row, they continually perform at leading festivals such as Tomorrowland and EDC.

Nicky Romero's ventured into new territory by releasing his country-inspired release "Rise" with Stadiumx featuring Matluck back in August. Now the track has received two huge remixes from dance music legends Afrojack and Thomas Gold. Each version has a unique take on the song's upbeat rhythms and organic instrumentals: Afrojack turns up the heat with his signature driving house basslines and dynamic percussion that turns "Rise" into a hard-hitting club track, while Thomas Gold's melodic approach creates a dancefloor-friendly, uplifting experience reminiscent of festival progressive anthems!

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Nicky Romero & Stadiumx have done their magic tricks along with Matluck for the stunning Rise. Now is the turn of the remixers to add their glory with massive new versions. Afrojack cranks the stereo system with a powerful electro house infused version ready for big room mainstage action. Rough drums, sharp basslines, uplifting synths and great application of the encouraging and truly inspiring vocal. Afrojack has added his well known twisted beats and pieces to turn the track into a real mindstorm. Thomas Gold remix is another example of what he is capable to do as he adds his punchy rocking drums along with that future house basslines along with acid overtones leading to the atmospheric breakdown packed with nice strings, airy pads and uplifting old school piano chords. The climax is euphoric mainstage progressive house with all the right ingredients to keep the crowd interested jumping and shaking while they sing the lyrics loud and proud. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

Emerging just in time to turn this year’s flurry of next-level festivals into even more of a scene-defining escapade, Nicky Romero unleashes his remix treatment onto the new single of Afrojack and German duo Jewelz & Sparks. Premiered by the Wall Recordings head honcho himself at EDC Las Vegas and played as the final track of his live set at The Flying Dutch last weekend, Nicky Romero’s remix adds a fresh scent of magic to their latest offering, ‘One More Day’.

Right in time to blow this summer's festivals off their hinges, Nicky Romero provides dance music lovers with a wonderful and above all blistering rendition. Turning ‘One More Day’ into a super-addictive Progressive House masterpiece, the Dutchman proves again why he’s widely considered one of dance music’s top acts.

The main man behind Protocol Recordings and a mainstay in DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs poll, Nicky Romero is one of the artists who’ve put dance music on the map across the world. Judging by the massive success of singles such as ‘Sober’ (over 32 million streams on Spotify), ‘Iron’, ‘Legacy’ (both than 20 million streams on Spotify) and – of course – ‘I Could Be The One’ (with Avicii – close to 200 million streams on Spotify), the young Dutchman has mastered the art of creating globally acclaimed super hits. His remix of Afrojack and Jewelz & Sparks’ ‘One More Day’ fits the bill for the full 100% in that regard.

Nicky Romero—the man behind one of the UK’s biggest selling hits of the last few years alongside Avicii, ‘I Could Be The One’—is coming to the UK.

From 27th–30th November, Romero and his Protocol label mates will embark on a monster five-show trip, which will see him and his team take over some of the most revered venues across the British Isles—travelling between each on his very own Nicky Romero themed bus!

This tour comes at the perfect time for Romero, who will be releasing his brand new single ‘Feet On The Ground’ (featuring Dutch rockstar, Anouk) in the UK on December 7th. Having been premiered at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival earlier this year, the track has already garnered huge support from some of the biggest tastemakers out there, with the likes of Tiesto, Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike as well as Pete Tong and Danny Howard from BBC Radio 1 all on board and playing it in their sets. Check out the official video below and ready yourself for its release on December 7th via Island Records!

To further accompany this tour, and to celebrate the UK release of ‘Feet On The Ground’, Nicky Romero has also teamed up with music discovery platform giant Spotify for an exclusive track giveaway and UK tour ticket competition.

How it works:

When UK residents ‘Shazam’ either the original mix or any of the official remixes of ‘Feet On The Ground’, they will be redirected to Shazam Tile (within the Shazam application), where they’ll be asked to enter their email address. Each completed address will then be sent a link to a free download of the unreleased ‘Flashmob Dub’ edit of Feet On The Ground, and will be automatically entered into the UK tour competition, where they’ll be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to one of the five forthcoming UK shows!

Earlier this year, Protocol began its global conquest with its new ‘Reboot’ event concept, departing from the status quo and creating something unique and revolutionary. After stops in cities including Miami, Amsterdam and most recently New York over Halloween weekend, a full run of the UK was naturally the next step. With dates at the likes of the Electric Brixton in London, Victoria Warehouse in Manchester and the 02 in Glasgow, they’re making sure they do it properly!

The ‘Reboot’ concept is all about audiences experiencing the latest and greatest in progressive house and electro music. With that idea in mind, Romero has carefully hand-selected the likes of Don Diablo, Tommy Trash and Arno Cost amongst others to support him along the way. With a lineup of dance music's elite, the tour is set to be a sensational showcase that will let people experience Protocol's ‘Reboot’ concept in full effect!

Protocol Recordings and its label nights have seen unparalleled recent success around the world and it all starts with the one man at the helm. These nights not only see Nicky Romero as a performer but also as an on-site curator who is involved with every decision from the top to the bottom down. It is his passion for the project that continues to shine through with each and every event that is held. Having also recently picked up a BMI Award for his production work on Rihanna’s ‘Right Here’, the 25-year-old Dutchman is making waves at every turn—be it as a label boss, an artist, producer or a performer. With more still to come in 2014, it’s anybody’s guess as to what Romero has in store for us, just know that it is set to be special.

The World’s biggest DJ poll as voted for by fans is underway once again and for the next three months electronic artists will employ every method of communication as they clamber for the all important votes. Campaigns vary from tedious to hilarious and then some are spot on genius - Nicky Romero’s is just that.

In a campaign entitled #callnicky – fans are invited to interact with the star by entering their phone number at www.callnickyromero.com. Moments later, Nicky Romero is seen via video - there are nine scenarios in total - dialing the number followed by what appears to be a live conversation with the caller. In what is a flawless process where voice and video are in total synchronicity, Protocol Management, Romero and with the help of Anglo/Dutch creative agency DARE TO DIFR have created a truly engaging experience for fans.

Explaining the concept, Jorik van de Pol, A&R and Digital Director at Protocol Management said: We as a team have tried to come up with an idea that would really set us apart from what anyone else does at this time of year, and over the next three months a much bigger story will unfold. For Nicky and for us, fan engagement at everything we do is our priority and so rather than repeatedly asking fans to vote for Nicky, it was about giving people the opportunity to play with something over a period of time.

Martijn Zijerveld of Dare to Difr: When Protocol Management approached us to see if we could help to take their idea to a flawless execution, both from a UX/UI design and a development perspective, we were excited as the story idea was great and was executable. Fan response and engagement has honestly been mesmerizing and it’s going to be exciting to see it unfold.
